Chapter 563 Tuesday Morning Discussion
"
Scarlett closed the store the next day while her father watched. Over dinner the previous night, she'd told Jax and her father about Gemma's visit and her questions about JT. Jax hadn't been happy about Gemma coming in and trying to find out what he and Scarlett talked about because their conversations were private.
"So, what else went on when Gemma came to talk to you?" her father demanded as he watched his daughter.
"It's just what I told you and Jax. Jax and I have an agreement that I will tell him what Gemma says to me. That will keep her from getting between us. From what Tara said, Gemma used to do that to her. She would also pretend to want get along with her and then stab her in the back. As I told Gemma, I'm not a high schooler that she can manipulate."
"What's worrying you?"
"I keep forgetting that I can't hide anything from you. When Gemma was talking to me, it suddenly hit me that what if JT put somewhere in that treasure chest the truth that he isn't Jax's father? If that happens, I don't know what Jax would do if I tell him about Bucky Jeffers."
"Scars, you're doing it again—crazy thinking. Remember when you thought you and Jax might be brother and sister?"
"In my defense, I was kind of right about that. Clay is Jax's father; he's just not mine. And if it wasn't for my wonderful and great dad who got Clay's DNA, I would have assumed that Jax and I were brother and sister and ended our relationship. I honestly thought my mom was right about who my bio father was."
"Your mother was never great at math. From what she told me, she changed completely when she got pregnant. She always said you saved her."
"If Jax finds out Clay is his father, he might keep quiet about Jeffers and it could cause a rift with our relationship."
"I don't think JT would have spent so much time making a treasure chest full of memories and stories about his life for his son if Jax wasn't his bio son."
Scarlett shut her eyes thinking that over. When it occurred to her that JT might tell Jax the truth about his parentage, it had been running in a nightmarish loop in her brain.
"Unless he wants Jax to like him and then he'll lead into the betrayal by Gemma and Clay."
"You're being crazy again. I think if JT knew and wanted Jax to know that he wasn't his bio dad, he would have just left that information."
"Or he could be leading up to telling Jax that he isn't his bio dad but he raised him and he'll always be his son."
Decker shook his head.
"I think you are borrowing trouble. You are assuming that JT knew and that he would tell Jax. I keep coming back to the treasure chest. That was the act of a loving father. I don't think he knew he wasn't Jax's father. I think it's possible that Gemma and Clay were having an affair at the time of JT's death and he may reveal that at the bottom of the treasure chest."
"That would explain JT wanting Jax to be older before he found it. That is going to be a hard truth for Jax to hear."
"It's going to work out. At the right moment, you're going to tell Jax about Jeffers and Jax will get Clay to either leave the MC or he'll have him kicked out. A kick out would be best because once we figure out a way to get him put in prison, he'll be inside without protection."
"And he'll end up beaten to death," Scarlett added with a smile.
Her father always knew how to cheer her up. She had been crazy to think that JT knew he wasn't Jax's bio dad and would reveal at the bottom of the treasure chest, but could there be some angle that she wasn't thinking of? That's what scared her.
