Chapter 566 Romantic Invitation
"
Tara went home, threw a frozen chicken dinner in the oven and took a shower. The hot water relaxed her and allowed her mind to focus on what she needed to do next.
When she first met Kohn, alarm bells went off in her head. She ignored them, told herself she was being paranoid and was afraid of being in a relationship and getting hurt again and that's why she was feeling uneasy about Kohn.
Josh Kohn had been perfect on paper. He was somewhat attractive, had a good job as an ATF agent, was financially secure and appeared sane. She told herself that he was an older more legal version of Jax. He didn't have Jax's blonde good looks or sex appeal. She blamed that on herself.
She'd tried to make that relationship work until it turned violent. She'd been lucky to get out alive and free from prison. It was a lesson to trust her instincts and her instincts were shouting at her there was danger.
After checking the clock on her phone, she called Steve. After a little flirting, she invited him to Santa Rosa with her. She apologized for the short notice but explained she'd just found out today. Elliot Oswald was an easy-going employer and he valued Steve's expertise. Steve said he didn't think he'd have any trouble getting off work.
Tara was going to drive and they could spend the evenings visiting wineries and some of the great dining spots in that area. Steve was looking forward to the trip and promised to call her tomorrow as soon as he spoke to Elliot.
Tara liked Steve a lot. There weren't the red flags like there had been with Kohn, but she wasn't in love with him. She was in the stage where she liked him a lot, but she didn't know if she would ever get to the place where she was madly in love with him.
Romance didn't happen that fast for her unlike what is shown on TV or the movies. It took her awhile and she and Steve had only been together a couple of months. Maybe this weekend would help them take their relationship to the next emotional level.
Having Steve along with her on her trip to Santa help her feel safe, but if she wasn't being paranoid and something was really going to happen to her, she wanted to make sure that everything she'd discovered about Dr. Namid, his buddy Eric the animal/gay porn star and the fatal surgeries and the bodies donated to a company controlled by Dr. Namid.
It was after midnight when she went to bed and she'd barely made a dent in everything she was putting into her computer but she didn't care how long it took, she was going to write down everything she even suspected even if she had no proof.
She'd forgotten to tell Steve that she was concerned for her safety on the trip to the contest. When he called her tomorrow, she'd tell him and let him make the choice if he still wanted to come with her or not. She hated to tell him in case he thought she was crazy, but he needed to make an informed choice.
Whether Steve went with her or not, she'd bring her gun.
