Adam works his way though the crowd, making steady progress to the wall where he had seen the two androids. Sure enough, he wasn't mistaken. Before him stood the two androids who had opposed the brothers, and killed them. The two androids who all but suffered the same fate, right down to the survivor going mad after loosing the other. It is for this reason that Adam and Eve harbor no ill will towards the two, even if Eve isn't very fond of them. While the smaller of the two androids, in his final moments, chose to make peace with the two of them, the same cannot be said about the larger one. even if an effort to convince her otherwise was made, such concrete beliefs were not so easily shattered.

"Greetings, androids. It's 9S and 2B, if I remember correctly, no?"

Adam's sudden announcement of his arrival startled the two androids, but as he suspected, while 9S relaxed rather quickly, Adam's very presence served only to put 2B on edge. "Now, now, I'm not here to cause any trouble" Adam says, raising his hands.

"I understand that. 9S noticed you walk in and... asked me to be understanding when we meet."

"Well, I suppose I shall get this out of the way then: You do not have to worry about retaliation from us. The fates we suffered are quite similar in nature, and that is enough for the two of us to call it even. Nor have I chosen to follow through with my... scientific endeavors regarding humanity. I have decided it would be a much more interesting experience to try and live amongst them. Besides, doing so makes it possible for Eve to forge new relationships."

"I see. That is... reassuring."

"I'm glad you see it that way. Judging by your presence in this room, you intend to join beacon as well?"

"Yes. We arrived around two-"

"2B is unable to finish her comment as feedback from a microphone rings throughout the auditorium.

"I'll... keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills. And when you are finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you and all I see wasted energy." Many entrants seemed to have taken some offense from this statement, "In need of purpose. correction. You assume knowledge will free you of this. But your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far" With that, Ozpin steps away from the mic, having kept his promise of a brief speech. The woman standing beside him, Glynda Goodwitch, takes over from there.

"Following this, we will have some tour guides escort you to the dining hall, where you will have lunch. After you eat, said tour guides will take you on a tour of the campus. You will gather in the ballroom tonight. Tomorrow your initiation begins. You are dismissed."

Adam turns back to the androids, "It's been an honor meeting you once more." Adam says amicably. "I have a feeling that the four of us will cross paths quite often, so I hope that you and my brother will be able to make peace, Miss 2B"

"It's Dessa now."

"Pardon?"

"Those are the names we came up with. I'm Dessa Rose."

"Dessert Rose... Isn't it a bit... on the nose?"

"It's a great name!" 9S defensively interjects.

"Did you come up with it?"

"No, 2- I mean Dess did. I'm Cody Byte now, by the way."

"Ha-ha! I suppose I have no room to speak, given my own choice in name. Anyways, while I Hate to break this discussion short, I must be going. I don't want my brother thinking I've abandoned him." Adam offers a curt bow as he wades through the crowd once more to find his brother.

"Things... really are different now. This... this really is a new start for us." 2B smiles wide as the weight of her words truly set in. "Let's go, Nines."

"Sure thing, 2B" 9S says as he flashes her an equally genuine smile.

A/N

Chapter 9 is here! And as you may have guessed: the surprise is that 2B and 9S have new names! Of course in case you didn't catch on, they're still going to call each other by their numbers, but it would be kind of strange to others in the world.

And yes, Dessa Rose is a way to remember 6O. And yes, I know Ruby Rose, Dessa rose. It will come up. I already have the interaction planned out. I'm not changing it.

What I am open to changing however, is 9S's new name. Percy/porcelain.- it's Cody now. It doesn't quite sound right either, but it's good for now. if anybody has suggestions, please do let me know.

Anyways, I am going to have a bit of trouble in these next few chapters, so expect a few days between now and next chapter.
