A/N I don't know if Joss ever intended anything to ever come of it, but Angel called Xander Buffy's White Knight, something fanfiction has picked on. Sometimes varied as The Slayer's Knight or just the Knight. This little tangent of thought is brought to you by the story about the 'Virtuous Knight' who blessed a sword and used it to stop Acathla. And a story I just read on Twisting the Hellmouth called Reality and Choices by Nycorson where Xander puts on a Green Lantern ring and at first it gives him a Green Lantern uniform and then immediately changes it to a Knight. Great series. Well, anything by Nycorson is worth reading, in my opinion.

Plot bunny, what if the virtuous knight was Xander in another lifetime? Just a thought...😁

"Something was stolen from the museum last night." Giles told Jenny when he got home, she'd been working on her force field glove in her workroom. "The police are investigating, but I don't think they'll find it. And we may have a big problem on our hands."

"How so?" Jenny asked, concerned. "Does this have anything to do with the translation you've been working on?"

"Actually, yes and that's why I think we have a problem." He answered, moving passed her into his office and personal library. He walked over to the desk and picked up his notes. "I haven't completed it yet, but what I have translated is a warning or could be interpreted that way. It states 'Here is imprisoned Acathla.' that name sounded familiar and it took some doing but I finally found it." He set the notes back down and picked up an old and worn book. "Acathla was a demon, created for one purpose, to destroy the world." He showed her a hand drawn picture in the book. "He has the power to create a vortex, that grows until it swallows the Earth and everything on it, trapping it in a Hell, the Hell it came from."

The picture was of a round, stocky demon with a large mouth and many teeth, Jenny grimaced at the sight. "If he was imprisoned, than he was stopped." Jenny made the logical conclusion.

"Yes, by a virtuous knight that forged a blessed sword. He survived his encounter, Acathla turned to stone and anyone who didn't know the truth would think it was an ugly stone statue."

"But someone who does know the truth?"

"Could do a ritual that would activate Acathla and suck the world into Hell, literally."

"Hence, our problem. Who else would want to steal a statue unless they knew it wasn't actually a statue?" Jenny rubbed her face. "So, chances are, whoever stole it, does know and we have no idea who it is or how to find it and stop them from activating it. Great, just great."

"Once activated it can be stopped, by reversing some of the steps of the ritual used to activate it. But that might be too late."

"It uses mystical energy to create the vortex, right?" Jenny studied the picture in the book.

"Yes, of course." Giles nodded.

"Xander and I might be able to trace it. In it's current dormant state, it's just a stone statue, but as soon as it activates, it's putting out mystical energy and that can be detected and traced. Between Xander's ability to teleport, which he's getting better at and the sling ring, which can transport multiple people, we could get to it quickly enough to stop it from being a real problem."

"Sling ring?"

"A magical device Xander has." Jenny replied absently, forgetting for a moment that Giles wasn't in on the secret yet.

"Really, where did he get such a device? I've never heard of it." Wondering if sling ring was a colloquial term for something else.

"That's for him to say." Jenny remembered Rupert hadn't been told yet as Xander was limiting knowledge of the Sanctum to people he felt he could trust. The Watchers Council was still suspect and Rupert was still answerable to them. Jenny could understand his caution, the knowledge and power of the Sanctum in the hands of cowards who hid behind little girls -. Not a pleasant thought.

"Very well." Giles acquiesced. "Than I suggest we do as you suggest and monitor for mystical energy, we may have only seconds warning if this is activated and bare minutes to stop it before it's too late."

"You said a knight created a blessed sword to stop it before?" Jenny frowned thoughtfully as a thought occured to her.

"Yes."

"How did he get it done fast enough to stop the demon or did he have a heads up from a Seer?"

"I don't know, that's not mentioned in the story." Giles responded, startled, as it was a question that hadn't occured to him before. "I suppose he must have had some warning as it takes time to forge a sword."

"It would." Jenny let it go, it was just a thought anyway. "I'm going to head out, I'll call Xander and we'll brainstorm a way to monitor for mystical energy. I'll see you tomorrow, Rupert." She kissed him goodbye before heading out to her car, leaving Giles deep in thought.

Once back at her apartment Jenny did call Xander, who was getting ready for a date with Cordelia. She explained the situation and asked for his opinion.

"The Iris of the All Seeing Oracle can scan." Xander answered. "But I don't know how to leave it on an automatic scan or rig it to alert when it does find something. But maybe the ghosts in the medical bay or the Sanctum itself might be able to monitor when I can't and I might be able to figure out a way they can alert me when I'm not here to anything. I'll see what I can do, Ms. Calendar."

"Thanks, Xander. See you at school tomorrow."

"You too, Ms. Calendar." Xander hung up and sighed. "Now how am I going to make this work? There's got to be a way. Commence brainstorming." He joked.
