Chapter 6: Speech To Everyone
(Eduardo's POV)
I knew Blu would be nervous about all the macaws are thinking about trusting humans but he has the most experience along all the macaws of the Amazon on the subject of humans and what they're capable of, whether it was good or bad. I started to trust humans after Blu's human friend named Tulio saved my life from the loggers. We all needed Blu because he knows humans more than any other macaws in the Amazon. I remember the time when Blu stood up to me when he talk to me that he knows humans and we can stop them. He knew if we were to move forward, and start trusting humans. The Amazon will be okay and there are good humans that want to protect the Amazon Rainforest.
"Blu are you ready to say your speech?" Eduardo asked.
"I am a little bit nervous." Blu said.
"It'll be fine Blu, all of the tribe leaders are willing to hear you speak and besides, remember when you helped make peace between us and the Scarlets?" I reminded Blu the time after the loggers were defeated and the Blue macaws and Scarlet macaws agreed to make peace after fighting the loggers together.
"That's different Eduardo… Plus if everyone knows my connection to humans, will they even listen or will they boo at me?" Blu asked his father-in law.
"Trust me Blu, the tribes will listen to you and the future depends on it." I assured Blu as the little break was over and everyone returned back to the forum where I led Blu to the spot the leaders were gathered on, Blu calming everyone down to resume the meeting.
"Blu. Not all humans are bad. Your friend Tulio saved me when I was hit by the bulldozer." Eduardo said.
"I am ready." Blu said.
"Alright, if every bird can relax, we'll now hear how we can move forward with our new potential relationship with humans from Blu." Felipe announced. "Who, as you may have heard, have lead the Blues and Scarlets in beating back the bad humans some time ago."
"Well here I go I guess…" Blu said nervously as he was shaking. Blu come up on stage.
The crowd of the tribe of birds cheered.
"Good luck Blu." Eduardo wished him as he slowly stepped froward, taking Blu's spot as the blue macaw led Blu to take the stage.
(Blu's POV)
Here I was…
Getting ready to speak on how to get ready for the future and get started on the new relationship to humans and the world outside of the Amazon. I know I trust humans when Linda raised me as her companion. I am not scared on what I have to say. The tribes will listen on what I have to say. They would ignore me if I have a relationship with humans. I trust humans. Eduardo is counting on me. He look at Eduardo and Eduardo smiled at him.
"As Felipe just said, yes I have helped to lead the Blues and Scarlets macaws against the loggers which threatened to destroy our homes and lives. I couldn't let the loggers get away with this." I began as I took a deep breath before continuing, bracing myself for what was to come. "Like Eduardo said we can't find a new home. The Amazon will always be our home. We got to defend ourselves if we see bad humans coming to destroy the Amazon. You see while some humans are bad, not all of them are. Some humans have good intentions and some humans have bad intentions. There are humans that wants to help birds, animals, and protect the Amazon. I know because I was raised by one myself…" I admitted as there were cries of shock and surprise, which I expected…
What I didn't expect was almost complete and utter outrage and anger.
"Traitor!" Some of them shouted.
"How do we know if he is going to betray us?" Bobby asked everyone.
Eduardo calmed everyone down.
"Calm down everyone. I know what most of you are feeling. Trust me I felt the same way about Blu before, but I learned that I judged him too quickly, he convinced me to change my mind about humans. After the defeat of the loggers, I started to trust humans." Eduardo spoke as he felt was really speaking from his heart. "Now let's listen on what Blu have to say about humans. Understood."
"Understood." The Tribe Of Birds said.
"As I was saying. Yes I was raised by a human. Her name is Linda. She is a kind, sweet, and nice person who raised me ever since I was a little chick and she gave me a wonderful life. And there is more humans like her out there, ready to help protect the Amazon Rainforest from smugglers, poachers, and loggers."
Blu took a deep breath. He look at the crowd and continued his speech.
"I know you guys don't trust me because of my relationship with humans. I am asking every tribe of bird to join me with the relationship to humans and to give humans a chance. Who is with me?" Blu asked the tribe of birds.
The tribe full of birds is thinking about what Blu said is true. They decide to joined him.
"We are with you Blu . We will start trusting humans in the future." The Tribe Of Birds said and they cheered.
Blu smiled that everyone is on his side.
"Thank you." Blu took a bow.
He leaves the stage and sees Eduardo.
"Wow Blu, you did a good job on your speech. How do you feel?" Eduardo smiled.
"I feel great. I said a few words to everyone about humans." Blu answered.
"That is good to hear. I think you are ready to become the Spix Macaw Tribe leader." Eduardo said.
"I am ready." Blu said.
(Blu's POV)
As Eduardo talked with the other tribe leaders, Roberto and I, with some other Blues, were together, going through the crowd as Roberto was there to protect me. I see the other blue macaws smiling at me and I smiled at them back. I become the hero of the Amazon. I walked through the crowd, I was greeted with stern looks, like the one Jewel used to give me when we first met and the fact the crowds moved away from me.. I didn't expect anything different, what I didn't expect was one of them coming up to me with a peaceful expression, a familiar female Military Macaw.
"Blu…" Zoe called out as she came forward, coming closer and well coming too close for comfort for Roberto.
"Back off!" Roberto demanded as Zoe stopped with Roberto blocking her way to me. Zoe step back as she was scared.
"Roberto, it's okay, we met before, she's friendly. I promise she is friendly." I told Roberto as I moved from behind him to speak with the Military macaw. "Zoe, what can I do for you?"
"I really liked how you spoke Blu. You got guts to do public speaking." Zoe commented. "And you know, I'm not sure if my dad will be up for this, but I can tell you that when I become the next leader of my tribe, I'll support you." Zoe smiled as I knew she meant it.
"Thanks Zoe, that means a lot. " I smiled back as I offered my wing for a shake, which Zoe accepted and we shook wings with each other."
(Eduardo's POV)
As I was speaking with the other tribe leaders on what to discuss next overall during today. I was very proud of my son-in-Iaw Blu on speaking to the tribes about humans. We will have a better future in the Amazon. I see Blu shaking wings with Zoe, the two having smiles on as they were clearly making peace and becoming friends. Those two I knew would represent the change the next generation of tribe leaders would bring. The tribes leaders always respect each other.
"Looks like our tribes' next leaders are already making peace." Bobby voice spoke to me from besides me as I turned to see him.
"Looks like it my friend." Eduardo smiled.
"Well, now that all the birds is starting to trust humans." Bobby said.
"Glad to hear it." Eduardo said.
Jewel hugs Blu. "Oh Blu, I am so proud of you right now."
Blu hugs his wife back. "Thanks honey, I was brave to do a speech." Blu said.
"Yes you did." Jewel said.
"Dad you will do great as our leader of the Spix Macaw Tribe." Bia said.
"Yeah dad. We support you no matter what." Carla added.
"You will do amazing. You will protect all of us from threats. You lead our tribe against the loggers, you give me the adventurer knife, and you got the dynamite and flew it into the sky. That's my totally awesome dad." Tiago said.
Blu is touched by his family words. He hugged his family and his family hugged him back.
(Blu's POV)
As day began to turn to night, the big tribal meeting came to an end and everyone began making the trip back to their own tribes. As Blu and Roberto as well as the other blues that came along, began the flight back home, I asked Blu how he felt…
"So Blu, how are you feeling?" Roberto asked him.
"You know at first I was scared, but I have a good feeling now." Blu answered. "Plus I made a friend, so that's always a bonus."
"Glad to hear it." Roberto replied as we arrived back at the tribe before it became too dark to be outside. He went to see his father-in-law Eduardo.
"I am glad everyone believe me today." Blu said.
"We believe in you Blu and we have faith in you." Eduardo said.
That's chapter 6. I am proud of Blu giving a speech to everyone about humans. Hooray for Blu.
