~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 23: Cliffside Lagoon and Day of DX ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

*Fade in to large auditorium staging ground, near where the Monorail station flows through the cliffside lagoon that surrounds the underground laboratory of Isla Muerta. The area continues to be filled with large sheets of rain and hail, as four key Biosyn operatives begin to remove the excess debris from the excavation site. Lewis Dodgson stares at a large monitor screen, as he continues to calculate just what sort of Dinosaurs are located on the interior of this Island that are clogging his progress towards creating the Cure. He counts 3 to 5 key species on the display: Quetzalcoatlus, Ultrasaurus(Titanosaurus), Spinosaurus and Megalodon. Each one of them can only be found in Isla Muerta as well as Biosyn Valley, where they are now seen as native inhabitants of their ecosystem. The problem is the simulation is incomplete: the Ornithomimus that Eli Mills has been doing experiments on is not reacting to the serum in the expected ways…which should allow the various compounds inside the DNA to complete the coded strand that he needs. These Dinosaurs that were captured, including the Ankylosaurus are not providing the missing DNA codes he expected…especially for the enlarged Hepatitis cure and the cure for smallpox and AIDS. A doctor takes out a large petrie dish nearby, and brings it over to the Medical station next to where Dodgson and Miles are staying.*

Miles: "I don't understand, Dodgson….the ingredients for the specific vials seem to be working. Our field test supervisor, Carl was able to alter his cell composition and reverse his own age…and it also worked for Eli Mills. (Inhales.) Yet the symbiote growth is not strong enough it appears…..for Soyona to be able to use it on the sample. Where is Henry Wu right now?"

Dodgson: "Don't give me excuses, Miles. (Dodgson snaps.) I'm sure with a little more preparation of the DNA compiler…we'll then get the right results for the cure. Soyona, fan out and find Dr. Grant. I want him and the paleobotanist Ellie Sattler locked up before sundown….since I'm quite sure they are well aware of which DNA sequences I am missing. Get it done now!"

Dodgson: "I told you, I am missing the key component to this equation…Maise Lockwood. The key DNA partition is still trapped in her blood. (He snarls back at the guards.) She is the original clone, I want her brought in Jenkins."

Soyona: "Sure Dodgson, you'll need to give me a minute here…give me just a moment to pull the reports…"

*Billy, Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler and Sara speed up in the jeep to travel at over 70 miles per hour…as they begin to speed up and smash into the large wall that separates this Biosyn laboratory from the rest of the Lagoon. They are now staring face to face, with one of the most vicious flying predators anyone has seen. A Voya Quetzalcoatlus has come out to greet them, as it tears off part of the entire windshield and hull at the same time the Jeep is flying down the road….speeding up a little more every few minutes.*

Voya Quetzalcoatlus: "GRAAAAAAAAAAAAWWR! RAAAAAAAAAAWWWR!" ((The Giant, menacing bird literally tears part of the Biosyn Jeep into pieces…as it goes thundering down the road with Billy and Sara driving…until they are traveling at nearly 90 MPH, narrowly avoiding the side of the Cliffside obelisk that marks the entrance to Biosyn's underground medical lab. The enormous reptile bird destroys the whole cave entrance, as Billy begins firing shotgun blast after shotgun blast at the creature….while tossing around 40 CCs of explosives inside. He then turns to face the East terrace, and shoots off more than seventeen tranquilizer rounds into the Quetzalcoatlus as it suddenly flips the entire Jeep off the road sending it straight into the water.))

Billy: "Ahhhhhhhhhhh, abandon ship and get out of the Jeep….Meet me back on land! ((He shouts as he shoots all the remaining bola snare rounds into the Quetzalcoatlus, finally forcing it to collapse part of the cavern. Dodgson looks on in absolute rage, and demands Miles to go extract the DNA sample without further delays. As Miles does so, he looks on with disdain.))

Miles: "Dodgson, I got that nasty bird's DNA….At least 14 cubits full.."

Dodgson: "Good, don't get cocky…Go finish them off, without that transport they must be vulnerable from all sides. Let's be certain the sequence is tested."

/Suddenly the phone buzzes to attention as Soyona reaches out and makes a long, necessary phone call back to California./

Soyona's voice on the phone: "Hello Ramsay…It's Soyona Santos. I told you I would be back when it came time to get the codes…"

Ramsay's voice on the phone: "…..What? I don't understand….I thought Dodgson was dead, all the CEO's research got destroyed."

Soyona's voice on the phone: "Oh no, Ramsay…Dodgson is standing right here with me to be exact. (She inhales.) The head CEO of Biosyn is dead, we all saw him kill him. Joe Rossiter is still very much running the Operations Center here. And by the way, Dodgson is now the full-time CEO of Biosyn genetics."

Ramsay's voice on the phone: "That's impossible….What do you want, Soyona? …I don't know where the encoded files are….."

Soyona's voice on the phone: "I want you to turn over the Biosyn Valley back to Lewis Dodgson's control before 12 PM, this coming Thursday."

Ramsay's voice on the phone: "Why? Well according to the Board of Directors, he is dead….So what if I refuse?"

Soyona's voice on the phone: "If you do, we will release the Ultimate beast from this Island….which will certainly make you rethink your choices. You don't really have any options here. Because Dodgson is now the head CEO of Biosyn."

Ramsay's voice on the phone: "Very well…Give me about 3 hours and I'll turn the Valley back over to him. (Inhales.) I don't know if I can help you with the codes…I'll look in the archive."

Soyona's voice on the phone: "I see…Well, you had best get to it then. You can help me Ramsay, by opening the GPS tracking device in Sector 4…..We need to find Maise Lockwood right now….Do not delay me in any manner."

Miles: "I knew this was going to lead to an interesting situation here, sir…..Shall I get the Indo-Raptor and Atrociraptors ready?"

Dodgson: "You may do so, Miles….This time there is no other chance to truly get the sequence right for extraction." ((He angrily throws the test tubes against the wall, destroying part of the partition for the experimental growth chamber.)

Ramsay's voice: "Umm…I did find the codes for the Hybrid Spinosaurus…..Where in the world are you right now?"

Soyona Santos: "That's none of your business for what needs to be handled, Ramsay…..We're a long ways away from civilization at the moment. On Site C….."

*Miles and Eli Mills just then begin opening fire on the hallway twenty feet to the North. They see Alan Grant, Sattler and Sara Harding seemingly sneaking around in the back alley of their Cliffside Research center. The Atrociraptor Leader and Indo-Raptor number eight begin descending the staircase, and chase the trio into the area of the water near the outside hatchery. The pavilion is located directly next to the edge of the Muerta Lagoon, where a large…ominous shape seems to lurk in the water./

Alan Grant: "Good god, what the heck is that? …..Listen to that sound Ellie…It is screaming at our welcome party found on the other side of this room."

Miles: "Then let me welcome you to the Island officially, Dr. Grant…..You should have stayed out of Biosyn's business!" ((Just then, Miles opens fire on the south wall….shredding it to smithereens in a hail of gunfire. A large Deinosuchus emerges, and its jaws instantly smash shut around one of their legs. The hall goes silent for a moment, when Sara Harding screams and suddenly flies out of nowhere near the southern wall and fires off more than ten bola snares as well as a set of concussion grenades. Outside, the shape of a Megalodon quietly appears in the murky dark water….clearly swimming towards the very edge of Muerta. Sara leaps up and attacks Eli Mills, as the two of them begin a fist fight altercation across the rest of the lab.))

* Giant test tubes begin bursting one after the other, as the Lagoon area begins to be saturated in explosions. Then out of nowhere, Miles kicks Alan Grant over the balcony as he fires up the medical injector and attempts to shoot it straight into his neck. The two of them come to blows, and start to high-kick each other into the cabinets. Finally Grant leaps onto the area 10 feet above him, and hangs from the outcropping as he places both legs around Miles and attempts to strangle him in a deadlock. In the next moment, he is tossing Miles into the metal cabinet with all the Dinosaur vials sitting out that is 20 feet back towards the rear entrance of the lab. Finally, Miles gets the Injector and tries to stab it straight into Grant's face….when Ellie Sattler sneaks up behind and rams the power-drill straight through Miles neck as he flies back against the wall and part of his right ear explodes outward. Miles yells in pain, then tosses Sattler into a table exactly fifteen feet back….before he takes Alan Grant and drops him straight into the large Lagoon. Right then, a large extinct Dinosaur known as the Rizo Deinosuchus slowly appears in the vines nearby…..as the silhouette begins to appear in the glistening moonlight. Its huge jaws wrap straight around Grant's right leg, dragging him clear under as Alan dons his wet suit.*

Alan Grant: "I think we need to swim….figure out to know as we move through this channel…Since right now there is far too many issues underwater…"

Ellite Sattler: "That is interesting and I sent you what my true thoughts were…. ((Just then the Deinosuchus massive jaws fly through the air, as it begins to phase in and out. It turned invisible and it was now hunting Grant and Sattler….More than 50 feet to the north. The water ripples out in a consistent, simple vibration that begins to shock everyone it comes across. The Dinosaur leaps out and tries to cut up Alan Grant which hurdles back across the lake bed, as he quickly darts to the far corner to avoid the Deinosuchus massive jaws. He looks on in the outside of the door and sees a massive Mayan statue, with Mayan writing covering the two entrances. Sara Harding looks on with fascination, never imagining how they could possibly solve this in time. Biosyn was getting ready to release DX through the computers at the Lagoon…What could any of them start to do to prevent the inevitable fallout? She shoots the icy darts straight into the Dinosaur's massive neck, forcing it to fly into the side of the concrete….as it finally roars and loses its footing plunging back downward into the deep blue abyss. Right then, Sara quietly crawls out to climb up near the access port for Terminal 2…thinking quickly in case the DNA Diagram deals with the release triggers that could be used for DX.))

Dodgson: "Soyona…I have no time for this. (He releases the DX virus into the Zorin Dimetrodon habitat, exactly 200 feet from their Incubation center near the Lagoon. Suddenly, the massive reptiles begin to bite and claw each other with ferocious intensity….as the pathogen starts to mutate, and flies through the many specimens in the enclosure.) We need those samples."

Soyona: "Of course I agree completely, Dodgson…Let me go and handle the real problems of that situation. (She inhales.) I will bring the 3 Atrociraptors and meet Jenkins over at Sector 2 of the helipad….The team has found Anne Carter's mother….You'll soon have your way into the Site C underground ruins….That I promise…No Incan or Mayan witch craft will keep us out."

Dodgson: "(Grimace.) That better be true…..the time is approaching where the Sun will shine near the Moon's first light, and I need to see the contents inside of that Lab…They left me with very little choice except to take over this entire facility, as this land is a bit like King Kong I'm sure you realize…..And we will be their Royal entourage to emerge from this new era... "

*Meanwhile, 200 kilometers from their present position on the very tip of the Onyx Primitive Crag….Ian Malcolm, Robert Muldoon, Kelly, Arby and Diego all begin to scale the cliff at an incredible pace of more than 40 miles per hour. They are evading large falling rocks, and intensifying their climb as they begin to ascend straight up towards the top. A giant pair of Mono Archaeopteryx' are presently chasing them straight up the cliff…..as Muldoon finally sees the summit up ahead of the rocky terrace./

Robert Muldoon: "Diego…Stay quiet, or those flying reptile bats will corner us…Keep looking towards the east ridge, those things can dig through the dam ground!"

Malcolm: "What did you just say? My god….The ground?"

Kelly: "Oh, this is not good at all…"

Arby: "Ahhhhhh!"

Diego: "Andale, andale…..Don't move so quickly up the cliff mi hermano!"

*Suddenly, the second Mono Archeopteryx smashes straight through the Cliff, 40 feet up and begins to claw a tunnel out of the sediment that comes directly beneath their feet. Its huge talons sear into Malcolm's back, forcing him to fly up the side of the cliff fifteen feet up. The 2 hunters including Diego and Muldoon shoot off more than a hundred electric flame rounds into the flying menace of a Dinosaur, which forces it to retreat into a narrow ledge that's trapped inside the tunnel of the cliff…as large pieces of debris flies off in all directions.*

Mono Archaeopteryx: "RAAAAAAAAAAAWERR! GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWRR!" ((Its huge, 2 tone sickle claws fly into Diego's back….slowly clawing him out of the side of the cliff-face. Diego and Muldoon then both shoot their bola snare rifles, in a high arc that dislocates a giant boulder 15 feet above Malcolm's head….It suddenly begins to break away, very slowly….as each of the climbers continue to accelerate up the cliff face. Finally it falls straight down 50 meters, plunging into the Mono Archaeopteryx' massive skull…as it smashes into the side of a sharp, deadly nest of rocks. After all this time, Muldoon was now needing to reverse climb into a narrow ledge to avoid the beak of the predators….just in the nick of time. He fires off more than 30 concussion grenades, blowing a huge hole underneath the Archaeopteryx lair…finally causing a cave-in that forces them to burrow underground….and explode across the North cliff face.))

/***The massive structure curbs out to reveal a huge underground set of caverns. Within these caverns, are many key windows and mechanisms that flow throughout the walls. Each one is connected to a set of Ancient, seemingly timeless Incan and Mayan artifacts. This makes the case of an immediately well worn and used set of chambers which jut in and out of entire Cliff-side Crag and structure nearby. Towards the peak of the axis is a hidden path all the way up to the Spinosaur Mausoleum at the very central core. And to the west of that area hidden beneath the frozen, icy backdrops of many Mammal experiments and other specimens...is the Lagoon area where Grant and the others are facing overwhelming odds. This entire Onyx Crag is nearly as large as a city, and it goes straight up the cliff to the presumed nest of the Megalodon and dark secrets of Site C which lay inside the Island's most natural volcano. At the other end of this cliff is huge footprints of the Quetzalcoatlus and other birds, making it abundantly clear the type of lethal nature of these experiments conducted here. Dr. Henry Wu, who is presently some 100 miles from this location is approaching the Island's Biosyn Headquarters to have a word with his boss. ***/

Kelly: "Oh geezuz dad, there's the scream…Did you hear that hissing sound like I did!? It's not over yet….I can tell!" ((She shouts as she screams towards the giant Mayan statute which stares menacingly at the 5 climbers, from more than 20 feet outside the outcropping of the cliff-face.))

Muldoon: "Large Garden Snakes? It better not be…"

Arby: "Oh god no, it is inside the green tundra vines near me…..It's under our feet!"

Malcolm: "Kids, ignore that! We are approaching the ancient terrace which leads out to the Mausoleum….Just be patient, we're going to get there….I'm sure there's no snakes…"

*But right then, they began to hear a massive low hissing sound. It was a Titanoboa snake, and it was clearly making its way into the cavernous ruins slithering over the protruding rocks with an absolutely horrifying glare….as it entered the caves which dotted the edge of this cliff. It was slinking in and out of the holes, directly beneath where Muldoon was hiding….and near where Diego was firing off dozens of shocks with the cattle prod. A hidden menace, lightly invading the entire structure….making it clear no one was going to be easily leaving this Onyx Cliff….not before they destroy the hidden inhabitants that are buried in the Icy rock within. Fade out to the outside shelf of Isla Muerta at night, as the hail pours down in bursts./
