We open on a forest in the dark of night. Birds fly frantically as something approaches.
BOOM
Steps swipe frantically through the dirt path.
Shadow shouts, panting "Do you trust me?"
Rouge "You know I do"
Shadow: "Then GO"
Rouge: "I'm not leaving you"
Shadow: "I wasn't asking!"
Rouge keeps a cloth sack close to her chest. Her eyes straining reading Shadow's sharpness. This was serious. They got through a lot together throughout the years, but nothing like this.
"I told you, I'm in this with you, like it or not," she pants trying to get the words out.
"I'm going to stay by your side" Rouge retorts,
Something approaches, clanking metal echoing through the trees, cutting them down in the distance. The two look back, picking up the pace.
They run up to meet the edge of a cliff overlooking a basin of water far below.
Shadow "I told you, there is only one way out of this"
Rouge grips the bag. "There has to be another way"
Shadow looks down and smirks, "was there ever any other way? I'll be fine Rouge, I am the ultimate life form after all"
Bullets fly, Rouge pushes off the ground to avoid it narrowly. Shadow jumps in front of her. She looks down at him as he gives her a nod. She nods back and turns from him trying not to show him any sign of weakness.
He gets interrupted by a swarm of energy that brings him knees.
"Damn.." Shadow mutters as he holds one hand on his head and another keeping him from to the ground.
The foe approaches with swiftness, a heavy hand of artillery slamming down by Shadow's side nearly crushing his head in. He flips upward as a metal arm reaches for his face, cutting his cheek. Dust fills the scene. Red eyes glow in the debris.
"Omega! why are you doing this" Shadow exclaims.
Omega lifelessly speaks "Primary target, acquired"
Rouge lands below at the basin, she grips the bag tightly. GUN military robots surround her.
-SKY HAWK 4 IN BOUND-, a Hover craft greets her, She glares as she makes a run for it. The GUN soldier in air craft puts his finger on the missile launch trigger. "Captain Orvis, I have eyes on the target."
Orvis replies "DO NOT shoot the target, we need the specimen" the Soldier grits his teeth as he moves his finger from the trigger.
Rouge throws a smoke bomb and pulls her cowl over her head, She makes a break for it.
"After her!" A gun solider yells.
The robots start shooting lasers frenetically through the smoke, Rouge flips frantically and avoids all except the last, letting out a shout as the bag's strap gets snipped. It flies up in the air. Rouge dives to catch it. We hear a cry come from the bag as it hits her chest.
Shadow hears this as his contraction gets broken, Omega grabs his arm, whipping him into the ground, breaking the cliff side. Shadow falls as Omega dives in after him, "Enough of this! it's me you want!" Shadow spits out some blood in omega's eyes, blinding him momentarily. He quickly rotates hid body mid-air to kick off from falling rocks.
Omega shoots his machine gun frantically in all directions as Shadow chaos snaps behind him and blasts him into the water. Omega spins himself in the water creating a vortex of water around him. Shadow teleports to Rouge and grabs her hand and lifts her into his arms.
"We're getting out of here, NOW", the light emitting from his body shimmering through the trees like fireflies. A middle cuts through his trajectory and explodes in front of them. and they fall to the ground with Omega steps away, cornering them.
Shadow pensively grits his teeth thinking to himself, "How could I have thought it could of been that easy.. " full of regret with his heart in his stomach.
"OMEGA! What are you doing! We're friends!" Rouge screams
Omega takes a step closer. "Threat level of target has exceeded all risk assessments. Program overridden by primary user. "
"Primary-"-..what?" Rouge exclaims.
"To think I could be happy, like Maria wanted…" Shadow thinks to himself.
"I see now, it was never meant for me." Shadow looks back at Rouge and tightens his first launching a chaos spear to Omega's side,
Omega lunges at him, Shadow inches away almost as if in a dance. They make contact and go head to head in a violent tussle, Rouge goes in for Omega's leg to throw him off balance, defending Shadow. Omega spins around and harpoons his metal claw at Rouge's feet. She avoids it pivoting her body out of breath.
"Listen, Rouge I'm turning myself in, I don't care what happens to me, but I can't lose you. If this is the cost, I'll gladly pay it."
"No!" Rouge shouts.
Shadow looks back at her emitting chaos energy from his hand,
With a smirk, he stares into his palm, "Sayonara….Rouge" He pushes her into a swift light as she fades into a chaos control.
Rouge is teleported to an alley by club Rouge landing in a puddle of water the wind completely knocked out of her, She slams her fist in the water. "THAT *cough* IDIOT!" She coughs trying to find her breath.
She studies the puddle for a moment noticing something approach her from the sky. Promptly as she steps upright from her knees, she is greeted by soldiers. "Hand over the subject" GUN soldiers in military robotics say over intercom.
"You've got to be kidding" she backs up gasping for air overcome by exhaustion. We hear an infant cry, something small moving in the cloth cowl wrapped around her. The bag gets ripped from her hands as she tries to fight back screaming.
