Chapter Thirty-seven: Autistic Admin
Dawn was not particularly happy with how the members of Eric's group who she did not want to bring with her from Alola to Sinnoh were able to weasel their way into gaining passage on board of The Big Beauty anyway, due to Zed leveraging his former position as a Team Heart Officer while he said he can provide inside info about Team Heart that will help bring down the organization that he formerly was a part of.
But regardless, government authorities in both Alola and Sinnoh were requiring Dawn to take ALL of Eric's group from Alola to Sinnoh, where all nine of them were granted political refugee status to give them some degree of protection. It was only due to Dawn insisting on it that the fact that Eric and his group were in Sinnoh at all was kept tightly secret; Dawn rightfully feared what could occur if word of them being in Sinnoh gets out.
Eric's group all ended up settling in Sunyshore City due to the presence of the trainer militia that Sunyshore City gym leader Volkner started up; the militia is up to a moderately respectable size now in terms of head count. No doubt Zed and Chandler are gonna try to put themselves into positions of leadership within the Sunyshore trainer militia, but Dawn saw that Volkner, aided by Jazmina, by no means will let that happen.
Things for Eric's group had basically settled, also Dawn made sure to stress it to Eric's group that ALL OF THEM had to remain anonymous and inconspicuous. If Team Heart were to learn that all of Eric's group were now in Sinnoh, who knows what all they'll do in response, especially considering some of Eric's group are wanted by Team Heart because said wanted persons are to be put to death if Team Heart got a hold of them.
With all of that out of the way, Dawn and the rest of her crew got ready to head off to Galar, to continue the quest of the reborn trainers to complete the Pokédex. They were able to get all of the dexes aside from the Galar dex completed, all Pokémon in those dexes were registered as caught at least. Galar was really the only dex that the reborn trainers had left to complete before they were all done with that greatest of tasks.
After that, they could focus on trying to help bring down Team Heart in earnest.
"Galar is the region that aided Paldea in the invasion and subsequent take over of Kalos," Calem said as he and some of the other guys helped with making sure everything was ready for the flight from Sinnoh to Galar. "It's part of the Team Heart Empire, and it has a bit of a history of war with the Kalos region," Calem went on, "It makes sense, with that being said, that Galarian Team Heart forces helped Paldean Team Heart forces take over Kalos."
"What else is known about the members of Team Heart in Galar?" Lucas asked.
"I did some looking into the matter," Dawn began, "Firstly, the Admin in charge of the Galar Sector of Team Heart is named Sue. She's around our age and is noted to be autistic."
"Same as Galar Champion Nina," Barry remarked.
Nodding once in the affirmative, Dawn went on, "Admin Sue apparently had faced lots of bullying and other overall discrimination in her life due to being autistic, with lots of people thinking her as incapable of doing anything due to her autism. This had been listed as a kind of Ableism."
"Ah yes," Kenny spoke up, "All Team Heart Admins have faced some manner of discrimination over the course of their lives, although each Admin suffered from a different kind of discrimination each. So this Sue girl suffered from Ableism."
"I looked into it, and Galar apparently has had some issues with being Ableist in its history," Trip said, "There was even talk in Galarian Parliament to pass legislature to make it illegal in the region for those on the spectrum to keep slash own Pokémon, on the basis of some archaic and outdated belief that said persons are incapable of caring for Pokémon."
"Only Nina defeating Former Galar Champion Leon in an official title match, taking his title from him in the process, made people in Galar start to think differently," Dawn went on, "Especially as the win was actually legit despite what naysayers were claiming."
"Unfortunately," Mina said, "It wasn't enough for a lot of people, particularly those in Galarian Parliament. They STILL wanted to push those Ableist laws into effect, even having the gall to say that Nina had embarrassed Galar by being a non-normal person who beat a normal person like Leon, as well as everyone else she defeated during her run in the Galar Gym Challenge."
Sighing, Dawn said, "But before Galarian Parliament could continue to push its personal agenda into law, Team Heart in Galar rose up and took over the region, putting its own rule into authority. And unlike with the Ableist Galarian Parliament, Team Heart is perfectly okay with an autistic girl having become the Champion of Galar."
"I believe that Johto," Paul began, "Another region that's under the banner of the Team Heart Empire, also has a League Champion who has autism."
"Yeah, Ayane's younger brother Gold," Dawn replied, "Anyway, when we get to Galar, we'll be checking in with Professor Magnolia and her granddaughter, Professor Sonya, to let them know we'll be doing field research in Galar on the various species of Pokémon native to Galar."
"Team Heart is also bound to learn that we're going to be in Galar," Trip spoke up, "So we'll have to meet with them when they come for us. That being said, there's a few things we'll have to keep in mind when we're in Galar."
Listing off of his fingers, Kenny said, "First off, the fact we brought Eric and his group here to Sinnoh is still thankfully being kept secret, the members of said group are keeping their being here secret by not acting up. That said, we can't let Team Heart know we transported people they're after to one of the other free lands. They may get hostile towards us."
"Secondly," Dawn went on, "They can't know that Kanna and Tohru are really Salvia and Freesia in disguise. They're still hiding from Team Heart."
"We'll cover various other things as they become relevant," Trip said, "But for now all that you need to keep in mind is that certain things have to stay within your mind. Got it?"
The rest of the guys who the reborn trainers were all talking to all have affirmative responses, all of them showing that they know what to do. With nothing else stopping them, the crew of The Big Beauty finished getting things ready before the flying ship took off for the Galar region, the last one on the list that the reborn trainers had to do any actual dex work for.
Then they can get more serious about fighting Team Heart.
Eventually, The Big Beauty flew into Galar, and landed on a battlefield outside of the lab of Professor Magnolia. The drawbridge shot out, and the reborn trainers disembarked to go into Magnolia's Lab and check in with the professor. They were surprised to find that Magnolia and Sonia were actually in the middle of entertaining some guests.
Said guests were Marnie the younger sister of Spikemuth gym leader Piers, Nina the preteen autistic girl who became Champion of Galar, and Hop the younger brother of Leon the Former Galar Champion. "Oh, Hop is interested in learning under Professor Sonya," Marnie spoke up when asked why the others were there.
Nodding once in confirmation, Hop said, "I wanna go my own path, one different from what Leon had gone down when he was Champion. Oh, Leon's now part of the Galar Pokémon League Commission, although he and the others in the Commission have to respect certain things that Team Heart says are going into law."
Dawn took note or the worried, guilty look on Nina's face. "Hey Nina," Dawn began, "You're rather quiet. Are you okay?"
"I'm... I'm feeling that a lot of things going on ever since Team Heart took over Galar is my fault," said Nina, "I mean, some of what Team Heart says is law in Galar now are changes made to make sure people on the autism spectrum like me aren't made fun of or bullied or anything else. I even saw some lady who worked as a teacher at me and Marnie's school get dragged away to a Team Heart ran labor camp here in Galar because she had been yelling at me and accusing me of being stupid and a freak, citing me being autistic as the reason for her ragging on me."
"We've heard of a similar tale while my crew and I were in Johto," Dawn remarked grimly.
Gently shaking her head, Nina said, "Sure, it's wrong and mean for people like that lady who was dragged away to bully me over how I'm autistic. But is dragging such mean people away to labor camps really necessary? Can't said mean people just be made to apologize and promise to not be mean to anyone anymore?"
Magnolia let out a troubled sigh. "Nina, sweetie, there are some people out there who are mean but won't very easily change their ways, if at all. There's always going to be mean people, looking for any reason to be mean to and or exclude others. It's something that Team Heart sadly doesn't seem to really understand."
Dawn nodded in understanding. "Humans, by and large, never really had sharing as one of their strong points."
Sonia perked up at what Dawn said. "What does sharing have to do with anything?"
"I think I see where Sinnoh Champion Dawn is going with this," Magnolia remarked, "Humans by and large don't like to share what all they see as good with others. So they'll look for excuses to not have to share. That's where discrimination comes into play. Humans in one group discriminate against others, exclude those others, in order to have more goods for themselves."
"Like wanting to keep only fair skinned students in a fighting dojo because one thinks only fair skinned students deserve to win at martial arts, and one doesn't wanna see persons of different races trump fair skinned students because there's only so many awards for martial arts to hand out," Kenny remarked.
Magnolia nodded in agreement. "That's one form of the idea of humans using discrimination to keep from having to share, yeah," Magnolia remarked.
Nina looked like she was starting to piece together what all was happening. "So..." Nina began, "...So the reason that people were mean to me over me having autism is because they didn't want to have to share anything with me."
"That's one way to look at it, yeah," Dawn replied.
"...So the reason why so many people in the world hate Team Heart is because Team Heart forces everyone in the lands they rule to share," Nina went on.
"That..." Trip said, "...That is not the whole story, but I guess it is a part of the story."
Shrugging, Nina asked, "Well why don't people just share with and be nice to each other? It would have saved a lot of trouble in the long run. Heck, it might have even prevented Team Heart from ever having become a thing, because all they really want is for everyone to be nice to each other and to share with each other."
"Things aren't that simple, Nina," Sonya remarked, looking unsure on how to properly explain things to the Champion of Galar.
"She's right," Kenny replied, "Some people just can't be reasoned with no matter what. And it's a very sad fact that oftentimes, said people who can't be reasoned with no matter what often end up in positions of power and or authority that lets them force their ways onto others, leading to situations where some folks view the rule of Team Heart as a better alternative. Granted, there ARE a couple of cases of truly benevolent authority and leadership figures, but they're always outnumbered by all of the idiots, even if they outrank all of the idiots in their collective."
"It's just human nature," Mina went on, "There's not a whole lot that can be done about it, at least while still being one of the good guys technically."
Nina was about to speak up to ask a question, but she got cut off by a knock at the front door of Professor Magnolia's lab. Sonya got up to answer the door, but a few seconds later she let out a very loud scream of frightened alarm, making Nina flinch and quickly cover her ears with her hands. As for the reborn trainers, they all, with dry looks on their respective faces, could tell exactly what was going on right now.
Dawn got up and walked over to the front door of Professor Magnolia's Lab, and saw a pair of female Team Heart grunts standing there. "Ah, so you are in Galar, Dawn Berlitz," said the first Team Heart grunt, "Yeah, you're being required to come to Wyndon and report to Admin Sue at the Team Heart government building and inform her of why exactly you're in the Galar region. We're part of the squad sent along to ensure that you comply."
"Just give me a moment to let my crew know," Dawn replied. She told everyone in the lab that she and the rest of her crew had to go to Wyndon and report to Admin Sue about why they were in the Galar region. The reborn trainers said their good byes to Magnolia and the others before getting on board of The Big Beauty. The flying ship soon took up and off, with a flock of Corviknights flying around the flying ship.
Each Corviknight was being rode by a member of Team Heart.
The Big Beauty soon made it to Wyndon, landing in an open area outside next to the Team Heart government building. Dawn and the other reborn trainers got off of the flying ship after the drawbridge shot out, and the four of them made their way into the Team Heart government building while escorted by the squad of Team Heart grunts. The lot of them could tell that things were a lot more serious than in past regions controlled by Team Heart that they went to.
No doubt due to how the Team Heart Empire had recently taken over Kalos.
"Oh, you're gonna have to keep the volume down to a minimum," said one of the male Team Heart grunts escorting Dawn and the other reborn trainers, "Admin Sue is sensitive to loud volumes. You will also have to have a degree of patience with her, she can be eccentric to a degree."
"I had gotten it that Admin Sue has autism," Dawn replied, "I understand completely. One of my crew mates on board of The Big Beauty also has autism. Additionally, my crew and I have met multiple people on the autism spectrum over the course of our travels. Trust me, no-one in my crew will be any trouble towards Admin Sue."
The one grunt nodded in confirmation before he and the other grunts led the reborn trainers to a double doors that led into an office. Opening the door, the reborn trainers went inside, only to see a male Team Heart member sitting at the desk, his feet propped up on it as he sat in the chair and played with a paddle ball toy.
The boy, roughly the same biological age as the reborn trainers, had lightly tanned fair skin, darkish hair that was combed up, and he wore a black hoodie (the hood was worn down) under a pink long sleeved shirt worn open in the front, black baggy cargo shorts held up with a belt and the legs of the shorts ended halfway down the shins, black socks, pink shoes with black shoelaces and the shoes had black stripes, and there was a black Team Heart 'H' on the shirt over the left pectoral.
"Admin's Assistant Michaela?" said the first male Team Heart grunt who brought the reborn trainers, clearly confused and a bit surprised to see the boy, apparently named Michaela, sitting at the desk in the room, "Where's Admin Sue?"
"She's in her lab room," Michaela replied, "She got Jill to come over because she wants to do some studies on Jill's shiny Torkoal." Michaela then fumbled with his paddle ball toy, the streak of hits he had going ending. "Aww dang it," Michaela said. Looking to the grunts and reborn trainers, Michaela asked, "Are those Dawn Berlitz and some of her companions?"
"Yes, we brought them here to report their intentions here in Galar to Admin Sue," said the first male Team Heart grunt.
"If you or any of the others knows where Sue's lab room it, lead them over," Michaela replied.
Looking confused, the first male Team Heart grunt replied, "I don't know where it is." The other grunts all professed that they had no idea either.
Sighing, Michaela after he sat his paddle ball toy down on the desk got up and made his way over to the group. "Very well, follow me," Michaela replied, "I know where it is. I should probably be the one to bring Dawn and her companions over anyway." The entire group, with Michaela leading the way, proceeded to head off to go find Admin Sue at her lab room in the government building. The reborn trainers were wondering what kind of person Sue is exactly.
Eventually, the group made it to the lab room. The grunts waited outside while Michaela led the reborn trainers inside. Within the room, the reborn trainers saw three girls actually; two in the standard female Team Heart grunt outfits, and one who was uniquely dressed. There were also a total of four Torkoals, one of which is shiny, in the room with the girls.
The girl who was uniquely dressed had somewhat tannish skin, dark brown hair in face framing bangs and a ponytail, and she wore large round lense glasses, a pink baggy hockey jersey with black hem and sleeve ends, a black skirt that almost reached her knees, pink gym shorts under the skirt (the ends of the shorts were barely visible), black boots with pink soles, and she had a black Team Heart 'H' on the jersey over her left breast.
The uniquely dressed Team Heart member was looking intently at the Torkoals, focusing briefly on the shiny Torkoal in particular, before writing down some notes on the paper she had on the clipboard that she held. "Ahem," Michaela called out, making the two girls in the standard outfits both turn to look at him; the girl in the unique outfit was so into her work that she didn't even hear Michaela call out.
"Michaela?" said the first Team Heart girl in a standard outfit; she had the same skin tone and hair color as Michaela, but her hair was in face framing bangs and ponytail, although the ponytail was worn differently than how the uniquely dressed girl had hers. "What are you doing here?" asked the first Team Heart grunt girl to speak up.
"Dawn and her companions are here to report their intentions in Galar to Sue as they were told," Michaela said, "Now what of you, Ashly? I knew that Jill was here, but I had no warning that you'd be here as well."
"Oh, I'm here to help continue ensuring that Team Heart's vision of making Galar a happier place is maintained," replied the now identified Ashly, "Also two of my besties are here, so how can I say no to swinging on by to see them?"
"Yo, you know that girl?" Kenny asked Michaela while pointing at Ashly.
"Ashly there is the Captain's Assistant to First Captain Dana," Michaela explained, "She's also my older sister, also Captain Dana is our Grandpa."
"Me and Michaela's mom Sumalee is the Third Captain," Ashly added
"Huh, didn't expect so much of one family to be in a Team Heart Sector," Mina remarked.
Ashly gestured to the other female Team Heart grunt in the room. Said grunt has mildly tanned fair skin and waist length brownish hair with a few stray strands. "Jill here is the Captain's Assistant to Second Captain Pamela, also Pamela is Jill's mom. Also, Fourth Captain Alan is Sue's older brother."
"Sounds like the bottom of the barrel was being scraped," Kenny whispered to Trip.
Clapping her hands together, Ashly said, "So anyway Dawn Berlitz and company, welcome to the Galar region! I hope that you guys have a good time and respect the Galarian Team Heart mission of making Galar a happier place."
"Yeah, we just came here to tell your Admin Sue why we're here in Galar," Dawn said. Pointing to the uniquely dressed girl, Dawn said, "I take it that's Sue?"
"Yeah, but she's in study mode," said Jill, "She wants to get notes about shiny Pokémon. She asked me to come over in relation to that because she knows that I own four Torkoals with one being a shiny of its species, giving her a chance to study more about the differences in a given species of Pokémon between one that's normally colored and one that is shiny."
"Can she even hear us?" Trip asked.
Gently shaking her head, Ashly replied, "Not while she's hyper focused on her studies like this. It'll take a lot to-"
"*URRRRRRRRRP*" Michaela interrupted, letting loose a loud, long, potent belch.
Sue suddenly stopped short in what she was doing, holding a hand over her mouth as she cutely chuckled at the noise Michaela made. Sue then looked up from her clipboard and over to Michaela, saying, "That was a good one, Michaela. I think that broke the record set by your las-" Sue stopped short upon noticing Dawn and the other reborn trainers. "Umm," Sue began, looking and sounding a bit nervous, "Who are these guys?"
"Sue, it's Dawn Berlitz and her companions," Michaela explained, "They're here to report to you about why they came to the Galar region."
Sue visibly relaxed a bit. "Oh yeah, now I remember," Sue said, "Sorry, I had just gotten so into my latest research project which is about shiny Pokémon and their supposed rarity. Did you know that the average odds of finding a shiny Pokémon in the wild are one in four-thouand and ninety-six? Original records had the odds at one in eight-thousand one-hundred and ninety-two, but the odds had improved over time. This is supposedly due to more recent developments in the methods used by those who track down shiny Pokémon in the wild, or 'shiny hunters' as they are called, but I want to know if the odds have always been-"
"Uhh, Sue?" Ashly said, "Don't you think you ought to cover grilling Dawn and her companions for why they're here in Galar?"
"I don't wanna grill them, Ashly," Sue said, "That would be cannibalism."
"Sue, grilling someone in the sense that Ashly used just now is a slang term meaning you want to ask them for certain information," Jill pointed out.
Looking like she just realized something, Sue said, "...Oh."
Looking to the reborn trainers, Ashly said, "Yeah, Sue usually doesn't get metaphors and slang terms sometimes. She tends to take things literally. I got it that it's related to how she's autistic."
"We've met other such people before," Dawn replied, "In fact, one of the members of the crew of my flying ship is autistic. It is no bother."
Sue seemed to relax a bit, feel a bit lighter as if she had just been told that she's okay. "...You really are a nice person, Dawn Berlitz," Sue said, "Well anyway, we're going to need you to tell us why you and your crew are here in the Galar region."
"We're doing field research on the various species of Pokémon that are native to the Galar region," Dawn said, "We may also have to go check things out in the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra areas as well for our work."
Looking curious, Sue said, "You guys aren't claiming that just to do some secret shiny hunting, are you? Because you guys doing shiny hunting may interfere with my research."
"No, we aren't planning on doing any shiny hunting," Dawn replied. She was worried about the chance that Sue may clue in on the fact that the reborn trainers are actually aiming to complete the Pokédex, but instead Sue is more concerned about the research that she herself is doing being infringed upon potentially.
Relaxing a bit, Sue said, "Okay, good." Sue then walked over to a desk in the room, put her clipboard down on it, went to a bookshelf next to the desk, removed a book, and brought it over to Dawn and the other reborn trainers, handing the book to Dawn herself. It was a copy of the Team Heart Empire law book for the Galar region, its cover depicting the usual rather obese lady shaking hands with a petite teen girl wearing a pair of noise canceling headphones.
"This is a copy of the Team Heart Empire law book for the Galar region," Sue said, "It's mostly cut and paste from the law books of other lands in the Team Heart Empire, but it has a few laws that are unique to Galar. Mainly with how there's laws to do away with Galar's issues of being a region with an Ableist past."
"Ableism, huh?" Kenny spoke up. He and the other reborn trainers figured that it had to do with Galar's past issues with being an ableist region. They're already aware of it to a degree, even being aware of the laws that Galarian Parliament had been trying to push into effect, at least before Team Heart came in and took over the show. Said laws that the former government of Galar was trying to push for can easily be viewed as ableism.
Sue nodded in agreement. "Just because someone is autistic, or has some other disorder and or disability, doesn't make them any less valuable of a person as quote unquote 'normal' people. We're humans same as them, so we deserve to be afforded the same courtesy and respect. We're not a bunch of freaks who the government thinks it's okay to take Pokémon away from."
Dawn nodded in understanding. Sue had probably been scared by the laws that were in Galarian Parliament that effectively would have allowed Galarian law to take away Pokémon from persons in Galar who, among other things, are on the autism spectrum. It also would have affected Nina who is the Champion of Galar. Dawn can understand people not wanting their Pokémon taken away.
Before the reborn trainers left, Mina asked if she could get her own copy of the Galarian Team Heart law book. Sue, looking a bit surprised, still gladly obliged. As Sue brought got the second copy of the Galarian Team Heart law book and was bringing it over, Mina's named Eevee Scar came out of his ball on his own and bounded over to Sue, sniffing at her shins while wagging his tail.
Similarly, Dawn's named shiny Eevee Ezio also came out of his ball on his own and bounded over to Sue, sniffing at her shins while wagging his tail as well. Sue at first froze up out of surprise, but relaxed after a second upon seeing that it was just Eevees. "Eee! It's Eevees!" Sue said, but then she looked concerned immediately and said, "But one's got an eye closed and scarred over."
"That's an old injury that Scar suffered a while ago," Mina explained.
"Eevee," said Scar, as always sounding like he's voiced by Roronoa Zoro.
"Oh!" Sue went on as she looked at both Eevees, "One's normally colored and one's shiny! I could do some studies on them to learn the differences between normally colored Eevee and shiny Eevee!"
"Maybe later," Dawn said as she and Mina collected their respective Eevees.
Looking to Sue, Ashly asked, "Ooh, you wanna see if there's any difference between the two kinds of Eevee when they evolve?"
"I would, but it's ultimately up to Dawn and her companion with the scarred Eevee on if I do that or not as it'll be their Eevees who are involved," Sue said, "I wouldn't want to infringe upon their rights as the trainers of those Eevees. If they for whatever reason do not want to evolve their Eevees, then I will have to respect that."
"Yeah, Mina and I have no intention on evolving Scar and Ezio," Dawn replied as she recalled Ezio and Mina recalled Scar. After a few more things were settled, the reborn trainers were able to take their leave from the Team Heart government building in Wyndon. There was a hint of worry as Dawn was concerned Sue may catch onto what Dawn and the others were REALLY up to, but Sue is clearly too hyper focused on her own thing to even realize or suspect what Dawn and the others are up to.
"So Galar and its small side areas are more or less the last area we have to cover for national dex work," Kenny said as he and the other reborn trainers had a private meeting later when The Big Beauty was landed and parked outside of Professor Magnolia's lab again. As it was a meeting, it was taking place in the meeting room.
Nodding once, Dawn said, "Exactly. We can focus on helping to bring down Team Heart in earnest after we get one of each species of Pokémon registered as caught."
"By the way, it was nice of Magnolia to give us another Grooky because Mina forgot she had one and doesn't intend to evolve it," Trip said.
Shrugging, Mina said, "I'm gonna be honest, I'd be surprised if anyone would remember that I had gotten a Grooky."
Going over the list of Galar Pokémon, Trip said, "Are we also gonna do Galarian regional variant species of Pokémon too? Because I think that Galarian Ponyta and Galarian Rapidash may prove to be useful to us, if only because we know multiple people with little sisters who'd jump at the chance to play with such Pokémon."
"Yeah we're gonna have to dip into regional variant species of Pokémon here in Galar," Dawn replied, "Partly because we'll need Perrserker and Kenny refuses to evolve his Galarian Meowth."
"Master Nyada needs to stay as is in order to best be able to Use The Hose," Kenny defended.
Sighing, Mina said, "I just hope that the idiots who were able to weasel their way into getting us to take them to safety don't fuck up in Sinnoh while we're gone. The last thing that we need is for any of those idiots to do something to prove us not wanting to deal with them as a valid concern."
"I had asked Volkner, Jazmina, and the rest of the competent trainers in Sinnoh to keep an eye on Eric and his group to make sure none of them do anything to screw up," Dawn replied, "I agree that it sucks that Zed was able to get us to take him and his fellows we didn't wanna deal with to safety instead of leaving them to fend for themselves. If Zed or any of the others we didn't wanna deal with do anything to justify us not wanting to take them out of Alola, then we're going fo have to tell the government of Sinnoh words to the effect of 'we told you so'."
"Yeah, there are few moves that are more of a dick move than telling someone words to the effect of 'I told you so', even if telling someone that is wholly justified," Kenny remarked, "I bet that Sinnoh's government won't like it if Zed and the other idiots give us the excuse to say that most dreaded and annoying of lines to them." The other reborn trainers all nodded in agreement before they began to plot out how to go about completing the Galarian Pokédex.
The last one that they actually have to work on.
(Opelucid City, Unova region)
Bianca, the Boss's Assistant of Team Heart and the public face ruler of the Team Heart Empire, was sitting outside in the garden area behind her mansion home in the wealthy neighborhood located in Opelucid City in the Unova region. She was enjoying the pleasantly chill morning as she had a cup of morning coffee while sitting at an outdoor table set. As Bianca enjoyed the morning, she was met up by the usual maid.
"Lady Bianca," the maid began, "Now that Team Heart has taken Kalos, isn't the Team Heart Empire capital moving to somewhere in Kalos? You had said words to that effect in the past."
"That is the plan, yes," Bianca replied, "And it's still going to happen. But there's still a few things that needs to be settled in Kalos before I can take my place over there. There's still a few things needing to be set up first, mainly laying down Team Heart law and setting up places to send folks to in Kalos if Kalosians break Team Heart law."
"Given how much fatphobic attitudes have been engrained into the collective psyche of the Kalosian people, those labor camps may get very packed very quickly," the maid remarked.
Bianca turned to look at her maid. Bianca rubbed a plump hand down over her very considerable belly. "Well the people of Kalos," Bianca began as she wore a knowing look of wry amusement on her round, plump face, "Whether they like it or not, are going to learn and accept that there's nothing wrong with people who live larger than life."
The maid nodded in understanding. "I agree that the Kalosian people need to stop being so shallow. Oh, I also came here to tell you that we've received word from Admin Sue of the Galar Sector. It seems that Dawn Berlitz and her companionship are in Galar, doing general field research on the various species of Pokémon native to Galar."
Bianca gave a mildly scowling look of annoyance. "Team Heart is still in no position to take Sinnoh for the Empire. That's especially so given we've just gotten off of taking Kalos for the Empire. We cannot afford war with Sinnoh right now, so hopefully we can avoid reasons for wanting to go to war against the region that Dawn Berlitz hails from." The maid nodded in agreement before she took her leave to go prepare a bath for Bianca.
Given that Unova this time of year is starting to get and stay chilly for a while, Bianca will prefer a pleasantly warm bath.
...
(Sunyshore City, Sinnoh)
Eric and his group made it to Sunyshore City, where already Zed and Chandler are trying to take over running the Sunyshore City trainer militia. Only Volkner, backed up by Jazmina, was what kept the self important, mostly incompetent men in check and from making any real progress in being able to take over the trainer militia.
There was also Carmine who was planning to work with the militia, seeing it as a potential force to take over to Kitakami to liberate it from Team Heart rule. Eric, with Silver, Faba, and Minoru following him, decided to start back up the business empire he had going in Alola, an empire he was forced to liquidate when his being in Alola was made known to Team Heart.
Only Yoshitsugu and Haruka were taking things slowly and carefully. "These guys DO know that we're supposed to maintain as low of a profile as possible so that Team Heart doesn't find out that we're all here in Sinnoh now, don't they?" Haruka asked Yoshitsugu as they shared a small lunch at an outdoor cafe in Sunyshore City.
"They're confident that Sinnoh being the personal stomping grounds of Dawn Berlitz will keep Team Heart from wanting to try anything serious," Yoshitsugu remarked, "Although at least Eric and that trio of goons he's got following him are smart enough to cover their tracks and disguise themselves as much as possible."
Sighing, Haruka went on, "We need to get them to slow down and not be so active. For all we know, if we blow it here in Sinnoh then it's game over for us." Yoshitsugu nodded in understanding to what Haruka was saying. The rest of the group that the crew of The Big Beauty was forced to bring over to Sinnoh REALLY aren't showing appreciation for the efforts Dawn was forced to make for them.

This chapter sees the Galar saga kick off with Dawn and the others going to Galar to complete what's probably the last dex that Dawn and the other reborn trainers have to do any work on before having the entire national Pokédex completed. They meet with Magnolia and Sonya, who are at the time being visited by Marnie, Hop, and Nina.
After explaining to Nina that things in the world are the way that they are due to humans by and large not liking having to share with anyone, the crew of The Big Beauty are summoned to Wyndon, where they have to explain why they are in the Galar region to Admin Sue, head of the Galar Sector of Team Heart and the Head of State for the Galar region.
Sue... is in the middle doing research on shiny Pokémon, examining differences between two members of the same species of Pokémon where one's normally colored and the other's shiny, when her Admin's Assistant Michaela brings in Dawn and the others to explain themselves. Sue is okay with the 'field research' Dawn and the other reborn trainers plan to do.
Over in Unova meanwhile, Bianca remarks to her maid that she's concerned about having to deal with Sinnoh, who Team Heart can't afford to go to war with at the moment, especially as Kalos had just been recently added to the territories under the banner of the Team Heart regime. Bianca hopes that nothing crops up to wanna push Team Heart into war with Sinnoh.
Meanwhile over in Sunyshore City in the Sinnoh region, Eric and his group get to Sunyshore City after Dawn and her crew were forced to bring ALL of them to Sinnoh. Zed and Chandler are letting their egos lead them, Carmine's looking to use the Sunyshore City trainer militia to liberate Kitakami from Team Heart rule, and Eric and his followers are restarting business.
While they do that, Yoshitsugu and Haruka lament that the other seven are not exactly being all too subtle, clearly banking on how Sinnoh being Dawn's turf will keep Team Heart off their backs. The two of them hope things will be reigned in. Well anyway, the next chapter will see more stuff going on in Galar. Until then, take care.
