Chapter Forty-two: A school girl's yearning, part one

Juliana woke up in her dorm room at Naranja Academy in Mesagoza, Paldea. She freshened up, got dressed, and was ready to face the day. Due to a school holiday, there were no classes today at school, so Juliana had the whole day for herself. She decided that she'd put effort into working on a goal that she had her heart set on.

Getting Arven-senpai to notice and like her, and agree to start going out with her.

Juliana was a girl in love, and the boy she's in love with is Arven. She wasn't entirely sure how to go about getting Arven to notice her. Maybe the girls often seen hanging around Arven, Nemona and Penny, may know. Juliana has no reason to fear they may take Arven from her; Nemona loves only Pokémon battling, and Penny is dating that Rimu boy.

But Nemona and Penny are regularly seen hanging around Arven, so they may know a tip or two that could help Juliana get with the senpai who she's in love with. Juliana was first planning on asking Penny for advice; Penny unlike Nemona is actually dating, Penny has actual experience. There's also the fact that Nemona... is blunt and obvious, she'll probably blow things due to not knowing better.

Juliana decided to check her team before heading out to begin her day; her Arboliva, Armarouge, curly Tatsugiri, Mabosstiff, green Squawkabilly, and Garganacl were all ready and rearing to get a start on the day, same as Juliana herself. Juliana was ready for the day, and she was as ready to get Arven-senpai to notice her.

Juliana refused to fail.

As she made her way around Naranja Academy, looking for Penny and Nemona although she was very much prioritizing Penny, Juliana passed by a group of students talking about the currently ongoing invasion that the Team Heart Empire was conducting on the Sinnoh region. "Hey, did you hear how the invasion on Sinnoh by Team Heart is going?" the first student said to their fellows.

"I heard that region champions from territories all over the Team Heart Empire had been drafted to fight in the invasion," said a second student in the group.

A third student in the group nodded in the affirmative. "That would explain why Rimu was sent to the Sinnoh region. Team Heart rule here in Paldea must have drafted him him to fight." Juliana perked up at the mention of Rimu. Due to how the Paldea Pokémon League works, there can be multiple persons all actively holding the title of Champion in the Paldea region, although Geeta is the official Champion for certain purposes.

Rimu, a student at Naranja Academy, is the strongest Champion-ranked trainer that Paldea has to offer. Not even Nemona, the battle-junkie that she is, can measure up to Rimu. And Geeta has said that she cannot measure up to Nemona. It goes without saying that Rimu is a rather big deal here in the Paldea region.

So for Rimu to be one of Paldea's special trainers drafted by the local Team Heart authority to help fight in the invasion of the Sinnoh region told Juliana that Team Heart as a whole was being rather serious when it came to trying to take Sinnoh. But why, exactly? Juliana hears little about things that go on outside of Paldea. Maybe someone can answer the question for her.

...

As Juliana was making her way, ahe came across a trio of Naranja Academy students harassing a fourth student who was very clearly very obese. What Juliana heard the three harassing students say made it clear they were mocking the fat student over their weight. This worried Juliana, given that Team Heart does not take kindly to anything that can be seen as a form of fatphobia.

Juliana was about to go up and confront the three harassing students, but stopped short when a boy jumped up, did a spin in the air, and struck one of the harassing students in the back of the head with his foot, sending that student flying. The boy's interruption caught everyone off guard, so all eyes turned to him as he landed gracefully back on his feet. Even Juliana was caught off guard by the boy's interruption.

The boy was around Juliana's height, maybe a shade shorter. He was fair skinned, had grayish scruffy chin length hair, and he wore a pink short sleeved coat with black fur trim, a pink shirt under the coat which was worn open, a waist coat matching the coat, black pants, pink shoes, and there was a black Team Heart 'H' on the coat over the left pectoral. Upon seeing that symbol of Team Heart, Juliana realized what was about to happen.

"Yo, why were you three being fatphobic just now?" the Team Heart boy asked the two harassing students as they picked up their fellow who he had kicked away just now.

"Oh come on!" said the first harassing student, "Does Team Heart seriously expect normal students like us to play nice with the fatties?"

The Team Heart boy's gaze narrowed a bit out of unamusement. "...Given that Paldea is under Team Heart rule, then yes." It was around that moment that a number of Team Heart rank and file, with Director Clavell following along behind, came to the scene.

"What just happened here?" asked Clavell.

Pointing to the three harassing students, the Team Heart boy said, "I caught those three acting towards the overweight girl right there in a clearly fatphobic manner. I was telling them off."

As some of the gathered Team Heart grunts went to apprehend the harassing students, Clavell, who wore a worried look on his face, said, "There's no need to send any of them to the labor camps here in Paldea, is there? They're just students, after all. Kids, even."

Folding his arms across his chest, the Team Heart boy said, "If this is their first offense, then maybe a bit of leniency will be shown. It'll ultimately be up to the Team Heart liaison here at Naranja Academy. I can't say what she'll say on the matter, though." The three harassing students were then taken away by some of the Team Heart grunts who had shown up. "I better go with them, I had seen what those students did," the Team Heart boy said before he took off.

Soon, all members of Team Heart who had shown up had left the scene. Clavell looked concerned. "It's a sad day when students are sent to labor camps run by criminals as a form of punishment," said Clavell, "No student deserves to be punished so harshly."

"But those rich spoiled brats who were mocking me DO deserve to be punished."

Clavell, as well as Juliana, turned to look at the fat girl who was being mocked. "Those kids who were mocking me are part of the Paldean wealthy elite, sir," the fat girl went on, "People who NEVER were gotten back at in ANY way whatsoever, at least until Team Heart came in and took over the whole region. Why did it take a straight up villainous criminal organization taking over Paldea and putting their will into law to make the wealthy elite of the region own up for their utter lack of care for others outside of their collective?"

"Things aren't that simple, young lady," Clavell said, looking and sounding a mix of mildly worried and mildly panicked, "There are lots of-"

"No, there isn't," said the fat girl, "It was just nothing but rich bullies who owned everything in the region forcing everyone else to be their whipping boys. You and others in Paldea were standing off to the side and letting the wealthy elite do as they please when they please because you had been bought off. Admit it sir, you and the others here at Naranja Academy were more concerned with making sure the next paycheck came in on time."

Clavell was a little annoyed with the accusation that the fat girl just levied at him. "That is entirely unfair, young lady," Clavell said, "I'll have you know that Naranja Academy has always cared for all of its students."

Arching a wry eyebrow at Clavell, the fat girl asked, "Is that why the three wealthy elite students who bullied Sayaka into killing herself got off for what they did scot free?" When she saw that Clavell had no way to respond to that, the fat girl scoffed. "Figures as much," said the fat girl, "You and the other staff members didn't wanna punish the source of your pay." The fat girl turned around and then took off, knowing full well Clavell had nothing to say.

After the fat girl was gone, Juliana walked up to Clavell. "Sir, are you alright?" Juliana asked.

Sighing, Clavell replied, "I can't say that I am, young lady. As much as I hate to admit it, that girl just now had a very valid point. How can Naranja Academy claim to care for its students if the school's wealthy backers forced us to allow their children to treat their non-wealthy peers like dirt?"

"There's no easy answers, sir," Juliana remarked. She had gotten it from Rimu that things from time to time simply can't be solved or answered easily, if at all. It made Juliana wonder what Rimu's stance on Team Heart's rule in Paldea was.

...Oh well, a question for another time. For now, Juliana had Penny or Nemona to find. She wanted to see what they could give her on Arven-senpai, in the hopes that she (Juliana) can begin to start going out with him.

Juliana eventually found one of the girls she was looking for, Penny, in a library area. Penny was talking to a boy identified by Penny as Giacomo. Giacomo, as well as a few other students, had once formed a group called Team Star, with the intent of finally getting back at the bullies of Naranja Academy, mainly the ones who were wealthy elite. But Team Heart coming in and taking over the show basically did Team Star's job for them.

Team Star eventually disbanded, and their old bases became property of Team Heart; two of the five were converted into storage facilities, while the other three were turned into labor camps. Juliana had no idea if Giacomo's base was one of the ones turned into a labor camp, but that was not the point right now.

Juliana made her way up to the pair. "...no way that Rimu will go down," Juliana heard Penny say to Giacomo as she approached the pair, "He's not Paldea's strongest Champion-ranked trainer for no reason, Giacomo."

"Umm, what are you guys talking about?" Juliana spoke up, getting both Giacomo and Penny to turn to look at her.

"Oh, we were talking about how Penny's boyfriend Rimu is one of the special trainers that Paldean Team Heart forces took with them to help with the invasion of the Sinnoh region to capture those terrorists wanted by Team Heart authority," Giacomo explained.

Penny arched a wry eyebrow at Juliana. "...You're that one girl who was cheering for Arven when he had that battle with Mela. Juliana, right?"

Nodding once in the affirmative, Juliana replied, "Yeah. I was hoping to find you or Nemona because I know you two are friends with Arven-senpai."

"Well Nemona, the battle junkie that she is, probably won't be of any help to you unless it involves Pokémon battles somehow," Penny replied, "But I can probably help you. What's up?"

Juliana looked a bit nervous. "Well... I... umm... err..."

Giacomo arched a wry eyebrow at Juliana. "Yeah, Imma let Penny handle this one, she's got more experience, and also knows how to be tactful." Giacomo then excused himself, leaving the pair of girls be.

...

Penny ended up inviting Juliana to her dorm room so that they could talk privately. Reportedly a mess with clutter, Penny's dorm room clearly showed signs of having been straightened up. Mind you, there's still not much space due to all of Penny's anime merch and her high end computer station, but the dorm room is a lot less messy now.

Juliana sat on the edge of Penny's bed while Penny herself sat in her computer chair. "Let me guess," Penny began, "You have a crush on Arven."

Nodding once meekly in the affirmative, Juliana said, "...Yes."

Penny gave a nod herself in response. "Yeah, you're nervous when talking about Arven. I had seen similar behavior out of Rimu when he first asked me out. I am still surprised that I caught Rimu's eye, given that I'm undeniably on the geeky side of things. Apparently that made me Rimu's kind of girl. But I'm getting ahead of myself. You want help to get Arven to notice you?"

"Yes please," Juliana replied, still embarrassed about everything.

Penny let out a calm, understanding sigh. "Yeah, it really is a good thing that you came to me on this matter as opposed to going to Nemona. She'd not only be of no help, but knowing her, knowing how blunt and oblivious she can be, she'd probably mess things up for you." Juliana nodded along in understanding, although she perked up when she felt something nudge its way into her lap. Juliana saw that it was a Sylveon.

"Oh yeah, Rimu helped me train my vee-vees so that all of them have much better move pools," began Penny, "Rimu said that before, all of the move pools that my vee-vees had were not the best in the world. Nemona was... a bit more harsh in her assessment of the move pools that my vee-vees had, and with her same carefree attitude and blunt obliviousness as she always has. Rimu was nice enough to give Nemona a good smack on the back of her head for that."

"I'm fairly confident in my own team's ability to battle," Juliana said, "But it's not a battle of Pokémon that I seek to get into."

Penny gave a single understanding nod. "You seek to get into a battle of love." Juliana nodded once in the affirmative. "Well, I believe that your best bet is to be nice and supportive to Arven," Penny said, "He's going to be over in Medali tomorrow, studying various cooking techniques and the like at the Treasury Eatery. You can go there and order a meal that he'll make, and you can gush about how good it is."

"Oh yeah, Arven-senpai is an aspiring chef," Juliana said, "Umm, have you had his cooking before?"

"Once, when Rimu and I were in a group with Arven and Nemona over in Kitakami," Penny replied, "We met Rimu's Kitakami friend Kieran. Nemona had a full battle against Kieran, and surprisingly Kieran eeked out a win against her. It has to do with that legendary Pokémon that Kieran owns, the only ever time I saw Nemona lose is to Rimu."

Juliana nodded along, and was actually interested in hearing about Rimu's friend who apparently owns a legendary Pokémon. But that has to wait, as Juliana has to make plans to get Arven-senpai to notice her.

Love comes first.

The next day, with Naranja Academy still on holiday, Juliana went to Medali. While here, Juliana fully intended to track down Arven at the Treasury Eatery and subtly appeal to him to try getting him to like her. Juliana was a girl in love, and she refused to fail. To keep her company, Juliana had out her Mabosstiff, who was currently walking alongside her through Medali as she made her way over to the restaurant where Arven is rumored to be located.

As Juliana made her way, she was stopped when she heard a familiar female voice call out to her, "Oi! Aren't you Juliana from school?" Juliana turned around and looked in the direction that the call came from, and as such saw Nemona come running right on up to her. "Yeah, it is you, Juliana!" said Nemona, "What brings you to Medali?"

"Personal business," Juliana replied wanting to keep things here brief, also she had been warned about Nemona by Penny, and thusly worried that Nemona may muddy things up if she sticks around, "Anyway, I need to get going to-"

"Hey, before you go," Nemona began, "I wanna ask you something."

"I don't have the ti-" Juliana began, but she was cut off before she could finish.

"I heard at school that you're a pretty strong trainer," Nemona went on, "That being said, I wanna take a crack at battling you!"

"I don't have ti-" Juliana tried to say, but Nemona wouldn't budge.

Taking out a Pokéball and expanding it, Nemona said, "Come on! Let's battle! It'll be-"

"WHAT PART OF I DON'T HAVE TIME DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND YOU DENSE OBLIVIOUS IDIOT?!" Juliana snapped at Nemona, yelling at the top of her lungs, finally making Nemona take pause, as well as drawing a shocked look of surprise out of her, "TAKE THAT BATTLE JUNKIE ATTITUDE OF YOURS SOMEWHERE ELSE! NOT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE ABOUT BATTLING!"

Nemona slowly lowered the Pokéball that she had raised. Before she could speak, a familiar male voice called out, "Nemona! Did I just hear someone yell at you for, once again, being too oblivious to see that they weren't in the mood to battle?" Both Juliana and Nemona turned to look and saw it as Arven, his Mabosstiff walking along at his side, came walking on up to the scene.

Hands on his hips, Arven said to Nemona, "Seriously, you have GOT to stop being so dense and oblivious, Nemona. Aside from the fact that said attitude has gotten your family into a bit of mild trouble with Team Heart at least twice, it's generally bothersome. Let's not forget the time that you popped in on Rimu's first date with Penny because you sought Rimu out to challenge him."

Slumping a bit in her stance, Nemona replied, "But battling is just so much fun, Arven."

Sighing in mild exasperation, Arven went on, "Someone ought to keep an eye on you." Arven then turned his attention to Juliana. "Sorry about Nemona here, she has issues with being able to tell when it is and isn't appropriate to engage in her battle mania. ...Oh, you're a student over at Naranja Academy, same as us."

Juliana nodded once in the affirmative, a bit nervous as it was Arven-senpai who was talking to her. "Y-Yes, I'm Juliana,' replied the nervous Juliana.

Gesturing to Juliana, Arven said, "Juliana, huh? I heard from my bud Rimu that you're a fairly strong and competent trainer. That would explain why Nemona was harassing you for a battle. Sorry again about that, also don't worry I won't bother you for a battle." Arven folded his arms over his chest. "So anyway, what brings you here to Medali?"

"Oh, I, umm," Juliana began, "I was just, umm, well I was looking for, umm-"

"Aww, isn't that sweet," a nice old lady random passerby could be heard calling out, "Those two Mabosstiffs are being sweet to one another!" That call made Juliana and Arven, as well as Nemona, all turn to see Juliana's Mabosstiff and Arven's Mabosstiff sniffing at each other and licking each other in the face.

After the nice old lady random passerby left, Arven looked to Juliana. "Is your Mabosstiff a girl?" Arven asked, "Because mine is a boy."

Nodding once in the affirmative, Juliana said, "Oh yeah, my Mabosstiff is a girl. Why?"

Arven gave a bit of an amused smirk. "Well it's clear that they've taken a fancy in one another. Kind of amazing how quickly Pokémon can do that, humans tend to need a lot more than that. Love at first sight is pretty rare for humans in the grand scheme of things."

Juliana nodded along in agreement, holding it back that she's in love with Arven. She wanted to wait for the right moment to tell Arven, preferably alone, how she felt about him. Luckily for Juliana, Arven offered to treat her to lunch at the Treasury Eatery, saying that he had some business going on over there anyway.

Right as Juliana was about to say yes, Nemona, in her usual oblivious manner, more or less invited herself along as well. Arven gave Nemona a wry look before sighing in exasperation. "It probably is for the best that you come along," Arven said to Nemona, "Someone ought to keep an eye on you to make sure that you don't bother anyone with your battle mania."

Nemona right away gave Arven a pouty look. "It's not like I have a problem, Arven."

"Yes you do have a problem," Arven replied, "You have a problem and you're still too thick in the head to see or realize that you have a problem." Arven then had both girls follow him to the Treasury Eatery, with both Mabosstiffs following along as well. The upcoming lunch meeting was bound to be a very... interesting... one indeed.

Later over on at the Treasury Eatery, Juliana was seated at a table with Arven and Nemona. "So I'm worried about Rimu," Arven said, "I mean, he's one of the special trainers drafted by the Paldean Team Heart authority to help with the attack and invasion on Sinnoh. He's practically a world away from home right now, slated to fight enemies I'm not sure even he can beat."

Nemona nodded in agreement. "Oh yeah, the Team Heart government here in Paldea is worried about taking on Sinnoh Champion Dawn Berlitz and her companions. Dawn and some of her friends each own multiple great Pokémon, enough for them all to have full parties of nothing but those very same kinds of Pokémon. Were it not for circumstances, I'd of loved to try battling against someone who was packing such a lineup."

Arven gave Nemona the driest of looks, then said in a likewise tone, "Of course you'd say something like that, Nemona."

Juliana was able to see more and more of why Penny advised against trusting Nemona with any sort of issue; she's proving to be too dense and oblivious to be able to be of any real help. Nemona also seems like the kind of girl who, if she knew about Juliana's crush on Arven, she'd blab about it not only as soon as possible, but she probably wouldn't even realize that she's blabbing about it. It's a good thing that Juliana found Penny first.

Juliana also had wished that it would have been just her and Arven at the Treasury Eatery, as it would have been Juliana's chance to confess to Arven. But Arven had to bring Nemona along because the Champion ranked trainer more or less can't be left unsupervised due to just how utterly dense of a person she is. Nemona would probably cause trouble if left alone to wander about as she saw fit.

After Nemona ate a bite of onigiri, Juliana looked to Arven, hoping to break the ice with him. "So, umm, Arven-senpai," Juliana began.

Arven perked up at the honorific that Juliana used. "Oh, you must be in the same year over at Naranja Academy as Rimu," Arven said, "Well, it's alright to not use the honorific since we're not at school right now."

"Arven is one of the few people at Naranja Academy to not expect junior students to show him that respect outside of situations that would demand such formality," Nemona remarked to Juliana, "It's one of the reasons he's so popular with the younger students."

Juliana nodded once in understanding. "Yes, umm... Arven," Juliana began trying again, "Umm, there was something that I, umm, have been wanting to talk to you about."

Arching a wry eyebrow, Arven asked, "Are you concerned about the ongoing Team Heart invasion of the Sinnoh region? Lemme guess, you have a relative in Team Heart who is a part of the Paldean troops sent to Sinnoh."

Gently shaking her head, Juliana replied, "No, no, I don't have any relatives in Team Heart. ...At least I don't think I do." Juliana squirmed a bit in her seat, unsure on how to put what she wants to say to her crush who sat in front of her. It was a nerve wracking experience, one that many a young girl the world over is all too familiar with. Just how was Juliana supposed to break the tension? She really wished something would help her get over this embarrassment.

...Preferably not another kind of embarrassment, but Juliana's Mabosstiff decided to team up with Arven's Mabosstiff and give both of their respective trainers another kind of embarrassment anyway. "Oh my goodness!" one female diner at the Treasury Eatery cried out, "What are those two Mabosstiffs doing in the restaurant?!"

"Not again!" a chef cried out after coming from the kitchens, "This is the third time this week that Pokémon decided to do that in the restaurant!"

Juliana, Arven, and Nemona all perked up in confusion, then got up to see what was going on. Looking around, the three of them eventually located Juliana's Mabosstiff and Arven's Mabosstiff, but what the three trainers saw the two Mabosstiffs doing made all three of them go red in the face with sheer embarrassment.

"Oh my goodness!" Nemona cried out.

"Aiiiieeeeee!" Juliana cried out, covering her hands with her face.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Arven cried out, the camera zooming in on his open mouth to fade to black.

Later, Juliana as well as Arven and Nemona stood in front of a desk at a Team Heart government building in Mesagoza. Seated at the desk was Hochu, the Admin of the Paldea Sector of Team Heart and the Head of State for the Paldea region. The Team Heart boy from the incident at Naranja Academy yesterday was also in the room at the time for some odd reason.

Hochu let out a sigh before he got up and walked around the desk to face Juliana, Arven, and Nemona. Hochu was a fair skinned older man who was clearly grandpa age. He had white hair with some flaring back and the longer hair in a long men's ponytail, he also had a long goatee, and he wore a black scarf about his neck and shoulders, a pink men's long sleeved traditional kimono top, matching men's kimono leggings, black tabi socks, pink zori sandals, and a black Team Heart 'H' on the kimono top over the left pectoral.

Hochu looked at Juliana, Arven, and Nemona for a moment, giving them all a serious look. "...So you three are the trainers responsible for the Mabosstiffs having... frisky fun... with each other in public," Hochu said, his tone and expression equally dry, but carrying hints of disappointed disgust, "You all are very lucky that technically the incident that you're all responsible for is far from the only one that took place at the Treasury Eatery in Medali."

"Technically sir," Arven said, "It's just me and Juliana who are responsible. Nemona was with us due to how we had to keep an eye on her because she's a battle junkie who will challenge literally any trainer she spots to a battle of left to her own devices."

Hochu nodded once in understanding. "Yes, my grandson Tomari had told me about hearing that from Champion Rimu. Right, Tomari?"

"Exactly, Grandpa," the Team Heart boy in the room replied, identifying himself as Tomari in the process.

Hochu arched a wry eyebrow at Juliana, Arven, and Nemona. "What were you three even doing at the Treasury Eatery in the first place?" Hochu asked.

Gesturing to himself, Arven said, "I wanted to learn more about cooking and preparing food, so I went there to learn. I'm not entirely sure what the girls were doing in Medali at all, though."

"I was looking for people to battle," Nemona said. This drew an eye rolling gesture from Arven.

"I, umm, err, well, umm..." Juliana stammered, embarrassed that she was being made to explain why she was in Medali, "...I was, umm... I was looking for Arven-senpai, and Penny told me that I would be able to find him in Medali." Arven, upon hearing that Juliana was actually looking for him, had a look of surprise on his face.

Hochu arched a wry eyebrow out of piqued curiosity. "And why were you looking for the boy next to you, young lady?"

"Umm, I, err, well, umm..." Juliana stammered some more, her embarrassed blushing growing all the more fierce, "...School related stuff."

Hochu was able to tell full well, he's a very perceptive old man, that school stuff had nothing to do with it despite what Juliana was claiming on the matter. But he was also able to tell that Juliana had romantic feelings for Arven, and she wasn't exactly primed to say so here. Normally Hochu would have been upset with someone under his authority lying to him, but this was purely just schoolgirl in love stuff. Hochu wasn't bothered by it.

"...You kids just be sure to control your Pokémon better when you're in public from now on," Hochu remarked, giving a casual dismissive wave of his hand, "Or rather pay attention to your Pokémon when you're in public. You kids had left a male Mabosstiff and a female Mabosstiff alone, to their own devices, unsupervised. What did you kids think was going to happen?"

Despite Hochu being the Team Heart installed Head of State for the Paldea region, he's not an unreasonable man. He was proving to be very understanding. He was basically just letting Juliana and her peers off with a warning. Juliana and her peers bowed their heads in thanks and took off from the Team Heart government building in Mesagoza, relieved that they had been let off the hook. But they had to be careful with how they, and their respective Pokémon, behave.

They DID all live in a region that's part of the Team Heart Empire, after all.

"Juliana, I am SO sorry about what happened," Arven said as he profusely apologized to Juliana, "I had no idea that my Mabosstiff would get up to... umm... well I had no idea that he'd get up to that with your Mabosstiff, and in public no less."

"Well, I, umm, err," Juliana replied, stammering out of embarrassment both from Seven talking to her and out of what happened earlier, "We should have been paying more to our Pokémon."

"I still can't believe that we were basically let off the hook with nothing more than a warning," Nemona remarked, "I mean, I thought that we were gonna be tossed into a Team Heart labor camp for sure because of what happened in Medali earlier."

"You may have been given a lighter sentence than me and Juliana if things were pushed, Nemona," Arven remarked, "Keep in mind, it's me and Juliana who own the Mabosstiffs that had decided that getting up to... umm... that getting up to that... and in public no less, was a good idea."

As the three of them got back to Naranja Academy, they were met up by a rather relieved looking Clavell. "Oh thank goodness that you children are alright," Clavell said, "I heard that you three were all taken to the Team Heart government building here in Mesagoza. What happened?"

"We were being read the riot act for something that Arven and Juliana allowed their Mabosstiffs to do in public over in Medali," Nemona replied, "It's... not something that can be easily discussed in polite company, at least easily."

"I did hear a rather crass story about something that happened today over in Medali involving two Mabosstiffs," Clavell said, "Supposedly they gave into their... baser instincts... in an open and public setting. I'm guessing that it was your Mabosstiffs?"

Nodding once, Arven said, "I'm gonna be honest, it was the first time I had ever seen my Mabosstiff do anything inappropriate."

"Surprisingly enough, Team Heart let us off with a warning," Juliana said, "Although from now on I'm going to make sure my Pokémon aren't left to their own devices, especially if one of them is in the company of another Pokémon of the same species as them but the opposite gender."

Clavell nodded once in understanding. "This is something that can be taught in the health class at Naranja Academy that the school nurse wants to teach."

"...Do you remember her name?" Arven asked.

Sighing, Clavell replied, "No, I'm still wired out due to worry over hearing that you kids were taken to the Team Heart government building here in Mesagoza earlier."

Nodding once in understanding, Juliana said, "That's fair." Things were pretty hectic today, Juliana was surprised that she was able to get through everything that went down. Granted, she wasn't able to confess to Arven how she feels about him, but considering that they had a run in with the legal side of the workings of the Team Heart Empire, the fact that Juliana and Arven, as well as Nemona, all got off with nothing more than a warning is a miracle.

...

Juliana was laying on her bed in her dorm room at Naranja Academy, looking up at the ceiling. She was replaying the events of that day in her head, wondering how she could have done things better so as to let her confess to Arven how she feels about him. Although the... frisky business... that her and Arven's respective Mabosstiffs had gotten up to is the main reason why things had ended up floundering out, there was also Nemona being there as well.

In order for Juliana to properly confess to Arven, Juliana will get to get alone with him, and also make sure no Pokémon are out at the time. It's the best way to ensure that she would be able to get her feelings across to her senpai. Although how she was going to accomplish that, Juliana had no idea. Maybe Penny could help her out here; Penny does technically have more experience in the field of romance than Juliana, and Penny is pretty smart as well.

Reaffirming things to herself, Juliana decided that she would be asking Penny for her help more in letting Arven know how she feels about him. But it will be very difficult for Juliana, especially if there is more stuff getting in the way. Nemona may be the biggest obstacle here, especially if she gets in the mood to seek Juliana out to battle her. Nemona had done so once before, she may try to do so a second time. Juliana will have to bring that up with Penny.

But Juliana refused to give up, not while Arven was still there. Juliana wouldn't give up until she was able to get her feelings across to her senpai. Even if he ends up turning her down, Juliana just wants to be able to get the feeling off of her chest. She won't feel better until she does. Juliana eventually was able to settle down and fall asleep for the night, her last thoughts before she passed out being about her beloved senpai.

END, CHAPTER FORTY-TWO

Author's notes;

This chapter kicks things off with Juliana, the female player character from the Scarlet and Violet games, on a personal quest to confess to Arven how she feels about him. However, Nemona pops in to cause a bit of a distraction, and worse yet Juliana's Mabosstiff and Arven's Mabosstiff show why you shouldn't leave two dog Pokémon of the same species but opposite genders from each other alone and to their own devices.

Luckily for Juliana and friends, they're let off with a warning by Hochu, the Team Heart Admin who heads up the Paldea Sector of Team Heart and is also the Head of State for the Paldea region. He's also able to tell that Juliana has a crush on Arven, but he decides not to push there. Anyway, Juliana and the gang gets back to Naranja Academy, where Juliana plots on how to try again to confess to Arven how she feels about him.

The next chapter will see Juliana's efforts in confessing to her senpai continue, as well as introduce more of the Officer Staff members of the Paldea Sector of Team Heart. Until then, take care.
