I don't own Pretty Cure or Lovely Bones
Warning: There is graphic content in this story with mentions of rape, language, and gore. Viewers discretion is advised.
There was a bug on this site when I posted chapter nine of Next Generation, where it would appear in four hours, then disappear and reappear.
Be warned, I will change my user name as there's a damn rapper who has the same name as me (I think he stole it, in my opinion), and my friend says the name sounds like a rapper one.
Also, in the new fiction Rehabilitation, I got some bad news. I accidentally deleted the timeline of it, and unless it comes back to me, it'll be updated.
It's based on my favorite novel, which I've read a million times since I was fourteen, called Lovely Bones. I strongly advise you to read it.
Also, all the chapters of this story have already been written, so I will post each chapter once a month.
I screwed it up. It was originally going to be Nagisa's POV, but I put up a normal POV. next chapter will be Nagisa's POV
Please leave a review and tell me how it went!
The year is 2006 in the story.
8th December
Nagisa woke up and stared at the ceiling; her conscious mind must've woken up from the TV noises from the living room. It was too quiet for the orange-eyed girl without the annoying yellow mascot, who kept waking her up and whining for breakfast. Nagisa sighed. She missed that little cretin. She grabbed her flip phone, next to her diamond bracelet on her nightstand, and checked the date and time: 7:44 am, December 8th. She sighed again while she placed her phone on it. It had already been eighteen months since Mepple and the others left them. The girls were getting too old to be Pretty Cures, and Honoka was too busy studying for college in France. But they did drop by a couple of times and separate, though Mepple would literally hit her head every time. Nagisa growled under her breath, her eyebrows twitching in annoyance.
'Mental note; punish Mepple' she thought to herself. She flipped the cover off her body and lazily climbed out as she stretched out for her bracelet and placed it on her wrist. She dressed in her blue shirt, then a red skirt and white socks, and finally put on a white blazer with red piping with the Verone symbol on it. She then grabbed her flip phone and let it hang on her bag, where Mepple used to be. She smiled nostalgically before she exited her room.
The first thing she saw when she entered the kitchen was Ryouta eating rice as breakfast while reading manga as rice dropped down in front of him, but he never noticed. He was wearing a junior high school boys' uniform with his tie loose. She sat down next to him, and he, with his mouth full, greeted his sister, and Nagisa greeted him back. Her attention was turned towards the TV, where their mom leaned too closely to the electronic. She glanced at the picture next to the anchorman—a girl a year younger than her with black hair and brown eyes. She gave a small smile towards them, the audience, with the title 'Missing!' underneath her.
'Probably a runaway,' Nagisa thought while she grabbed for her miso bowl and dug in. Ryouta placed his manga down and his empty rice bowl next to his miso one. He gave her 'the smile'. The smile he always gave when he needed something.
"Onee-chan~ Can you help me find a present for a friend?" Ryouta asked with the sweetest voice he could muster. She looked at him unimpressed with a vegetable stuck on the side of her mouth. Her lips turned into a smirk before she replied.
"Ooo~ Is it the 'friend' you've been talking about?" She asked teasingly, and it caused him to blush like a tomato. 'Bingo'. Nagisa thought. He hadn't stopped talking about Kaoru since he met her when he entered junior high. Their eyes met when they saw each other on the train on their way home. It was Ryouta's exact words.
"K-K-Kaoru? S-she's just a friend." He looked down while she giggled. He was too adorable for her.
"So, what are you planning to get her?" She pushed further as she went for the rice bowl. She placed her miso bowl next to Ryouta's.
"I don't know yet; that's why I thought you could accompany me to the mall and help me since you know what girls want." Nagisa thought for a second.
"Hmmm, if I get your desert tomorrow." Ryouta sighed, but he complied nevertheless, defeated.
"Fine..." She threw her arms up, excited. Rie had planned to have a chocolate cake after dinner on Saturday. Ryouta stood up in the meantime and picked up his bag while muttering. "Fatass." Nagisa stopped, and her ear twitched. Ryouta kept forgetting that her hearing senses were as good as an owl. She slammed her hands onto the table; the bowls jumped a little from the impact, and she grabbed him, working her arm up around his tiny neck. It was getting harder and harder to do the Cobra twist on him for Nagisa; he was growing taller than her. Ryouta pleaded and muttered, 'Give' but she ignored him. She just wanted to suffer for a few more seconds.
"Be quiet, you two!" They looked at Rie, who had just yelled at them, and turned back to the TV. Sure, she always used to yell at them for screwing around, but that tone was too serious. She loosened her grip around Ryouta, her attention still on her mother. Ryouta skipped away from her, pulled his skin under his eye, and stuck his tongue while he said it mockingly. 'Nyeh.' Nagisa sighed. 'Thirteen years old and still immature as ever..' She turned her attention back to the TV.
"The police have given up hope of finding the missing 15-year-old Honda Ryoko, who disappeared in 2003. The police suspect it's a connection to the murder of Fujita Ran in 1991. "Another picture appeared when the anchor mentioned another name, this time a young teen with brown hair and deeply brown eyes. Nagisa was only a year old when that Fujita girl went missing, but Rie looked sad. She picked up her red bag while Ryouta waited for her. They looked at each other before looking at their mom and announcing their takeoff.
"Mom, we're off." Ryouta announced while Nagisa was about to turn the knob, but they were stopped when Rie stood up and approached them. She first fixed Ryouta's tie while he rolled his eyes before talking.
"Nagisa, do you have your phone?" She lifted up to show her flip phone hanging onto the bag.
"Yeah, it's here. See yo-" She tried again, but she was cut off again.
"Is it on"? She asked frantically. She blinked. What had gone into her? She walked across the room to the TV and turned it off with a remote, then walked back.
"It's on vibrate. Mom, please, lay off the news for awhile. We're heading out." Rie sighed as Ryouta opened the door with Nagisa on his heel. Ryouta closed the door when Nagisa glanced at their neighbor, Miyazaki-san. He moved in during the summer and had been popular with women. He was blonde and tall, with a cataract on his left eye. He looked handsome, but he looked like he was in his thirties, like their parents. He looked over his mail, then glanced at us, then beamed Nagisa a small smile. It swooshed Nagisa, but she returned a polite smile while desperately trying to hide her upset expression. Nagisa felt Ryouta tug on her blazer, which caused her to snap out of it, and they headed to the stairs.
Nagisa didn't realize that Miyazaki-san still had his eyes on Nagisa with a stern look.
They arrived at Nagisa's entrance to her high school. Ryouta waved and ran towards his friends waiting for him at the entrance behind Nagisa's school. Verone was split into different sexes, both in junior high and high school. (1) Nagisa's and Honoka's old junior high school was next to the boys one. Nagisa saw Miyazaki enter her school and was not surprised. Her mother had told her that Miyazaki was an athletic coach.
'Maybe he just needed the money due to no baseball seasons.' Nagisa, as a woman, recognized him as her teacher and was trying to flirt with him. Her attention was turned back to her brother as a smile appeared when Yuuji (2) had Ryouta in headlock with smiles on their faces. Yuuji let him go when Kaoru approached and greeted Ryouta while he stood up right, blushing. The boys, Ryouta's tennis teammates, snickered and smirked at him, even encouraging him to ask her out for a date. Ryouta shouted, flustered, at them while Kaoru looked at them, confused. Nagisa couldn't hold onto it anymore and burst out laughing, but she tried to lower it so her brother wouldn't notice. A few of his friends noticed and smirked at her.
"Teasing your brother again?" a male voice asked behind her. Nagisa turned her head towards the source, and she started to blush but felt pure happiness. Nagisa wrapped her arms around the male, and the male just smiled and hugged back.
"Fuji-P! I missed you!" She almost shouted, and Fuji-P winced at it but giggled afterwards.
"We talked this morning." He snickered as Nagisa hung onto him like a monkey.
"Through texts, but it's been forever since we spent time together."
"Just fourteen hours, actually." Nagisa pouted at him. "S-sorry." He patted her head. "So, same time as usual?" Nagisa nodded, giving him a kiss.
"I'll see you during lunch break!" Nagisa skipped happily inside her classroom. Everyone in the class looked at Nagisa but just smiled and snickered at her adorable behavior. They knew that the couple used to meet each other at the entrance every day. Nagisa would still walk with Honoka from the train station to the school, and sometimes with her boyfriend or her brother. She looked around, and she saw Shiho and Rina talking to each other. Honoka was talking to Yuriko; she wore smaller glasses and let her hair grow to the same height as mine; she was trying to let it grow longer. Honoka had her old hairstyle, except it was a little shorter and longer. She had to wear glasses herself whenever she needed to read anything or watch TV, but they looked good on her. As soon as Nagisa sat down, Shiho and Rina approached her. Shiho slammed her hands on Nagisa's desk excitedly while Rina stood beside the orange-haired girl.
"Have you heard?" Rina was the first one to ask. Nagisa shook her head.
"The PE teacher is totally, totally, totally handsome!" Shiho exclaimed. Nagisa scoffed unimpressed and uninterestedly at the conversation, but they kept going.
"His name is Miyazaki-sensei. Ah, it's such a shame lacrosse doesn't have coaches." Rina complained, causing Nagisa to snicker lightly.
"That would distract you, girls. Besides, do you even know how old he is? He's at least twenty years older than you."
"No way, no way, no way, he looks so young!" Shiho denied.
"Wait, how do you even know?" Rina asked as she sat on Nagisa's desk.
"I saw him enter our school; he's my neighbour." Nagisa said it non-chantantly. The two girls ignored her and continued to gossip.
"His cataract scar is so cool!" Shiho added, and Rina nodded without hesitation.
"Alright, guys, settle down, please." Ikeda-sensei said as she walked towards her desk with folders placed in front of her. Shiho and Rina scurried to theirs.
"I'm sure you all are excited at the new han," she said, clearing her throat. "Good-looking PE teacher, but it's time to study."
'That was a bad save, teacher.' Nagisa dropped her eyes.
"Oh, look who's here. Misumi-san decided to join us on time." She said it sarcastically as everyone laughed. Nagisa was used to this; everyone had made fun of her being tardy during junior high. Besides, the teacher always joked around with every student.
"I came on time to see you gawk at the new PE teacher." She smirked and replied slyly, causing Ideka to go red for a moment but managing to hold back a blush.
"Right, Misumi-san, maybe you would like to come up here and tell us about your book report?" Ideka-sensei smirked back. 'Oh crap...' She had forgotten about it, as usual. Ideka-sensei knew how to shoot comebacks. She snickered along with the students as Nagisa dragged her feet towards the blackboard, sighing heavily.
During the class, Nagisa casually looked over at Honoka and kept her attention on the blackboard with her glasses on. Life seemed a little duller without a pretty cure. Despite all the damn responsibilities they were given, suddenly, she missed being the hero and shouting at the bad guys. She, Hikari, and Honoka are still as close as ever. Honoka tried to teach Nagisa how to install Slype (3) on her PC so they could talk when she moves to France. Though it'll be two years until she leaves, Honoka knew that Nagisa would forget how to install it and wanted to make sure she had it ready. Hikari got a laptop for her birthday from Akane-san two months ago, so all three of them could talk together.
Speaking of Akane-san, she had been spacing out lately and closed her shop last week earlier than usual. She had a sorrowful expression on her face. Nagisa lowered her hand lightly on her desk and decided to talk to her when all of them met that evening.
Nagisa's POV
As soon as Ideka picked up her folders, I darted outside with my lunch box. Ideka blinked and looked at the clock on her wrist.
"Wow, new record." I could hear her.
I walked behind the school; the school field was bigger than Junior High; the PE track field was in the middle; the football field (with Fuji-P practicing at that moment) was on our left side; and the lacrosse field was to our right. I decided that day to place my bag near the entrance. It was too much hassle to carry it with my lacrosse stick, but I took my phone with me. Entering the gate, memories flew through me. The day when I came there first for the graduation. And all the time I spent there, meeting new friends, going on adventures as Pretty Cure, and...that play. I hope, for Kaoru's sake, she won't be picked for any of the lead roles. I walked towards the main hall, and I immediately saw Kaoru with her friends. I waited for her to finish, which didn't take too long. She noticed me when she headed towards the gate.
"Nagisa-san, what is it?" She wasn't even wearing the school's coat; wasn't she cold?
"Aren't you cold? I don't want you to catch a cold with your beautiful voice." I added. Kaoru blushed. Kaoru was an amazing singer, but she had some self-conscious problems. She kept denying that it wasn't that special, but me and my family, plus her being in a band, had heard her sing. How would I put it for Westerners? She sounded like a young Christina Aguilera.
"The weather has been good lately. But really, what is it?" Well, there was my answer.
"So...Christmas is approaching. Is there something you would like?" I blurted.
"Did...Ryouta ask you to ask me?" She blinks and tilts her head.
"No, no, as a big sister, it's my duty to help him with the girl's problem. Any jewelry you like?" Well, the big sister role is kind of similar to being a Pretty Cure. Kaoru placed a finger on her chin thoughtfully but replied quickly.
"I like necklaces."
"Got it!" I opened my flip phone and started to message Ryouta immediately. I know he wouldn't reply right away; he was probably doing tennis practice.
"Oh, crap." I realized something. "Thanks, Kaoru; I'll see you later!" I hurriedly said that and ran towards my school. But I turned my heels and uttered.
"Also. Confess to him already." I gave her a sly wink before heading to the gym. I knew I left Kaoru blushing like crazy. It caused me to snicker at the adorableness of the thought.
Finally, the bell rang for the last time today. I quickly grabbed my bag and lacrosse stick, ready to head out. But before I could walk towards Honoka, Shiho and Rina grabbed me and took me outside to the fields.
The first thing I did was look to my right, where Fuji-P was bouncing a ball with Kimata-san next to him, his mouth agape. Rina grabbed my head and forced me to turn it to the middle field, where the apparent new PE teacher was. I blinked at a blonde, tall man shouting out encouraging words at the girls running around the tracks. But I knew that man. He turned around and gave me a small wave (or us) before he turned around back.
"Oh, it's my neighbor." I said it casually. The girls exclaimed, 'Eh!' as they leaned towards me. Did they even listen to me earlier? I'm not sure if it was because I had a boyfriend, but ever since then, I've never been interested in older teachers like that one time Pissard disguised himself as one.
"I'm so jealous!" Rina shouted while I just sighed, scratching my head to comprehend the girls' reactions. My bracelet slid down with my sleeve.
"You know you can't have any accessories during school day!" Rina warned me as I tried to cover it.
"I know, but...Fuji-P gave it to me for my birthday, and it means a lot to me." I smiled warmly at it. I've read that Americans liked to spoil their teenagers when they turned sixteen, but my sweet sixteen (as Americans called it) was the best. Not only did I get a tasty cake, but Fuji-P gave me that bracelet and confessed his love for me. We even kissed that night. My family wouldn't stop teasing me for the rest of the night. I snapped out of my daydreaming when I felt something hit softly on my ankle. I looked down and saw a ball rolling over to us. I sighed as I picked it up, and as if on cue, Fuji-P ran towards us, apologizing. My face lit up, and my cheeks turned red. I handed the ball over, and Fuji-P touched it, ready to take over.
"H-heh, sorry, we need to stop meeting like this." He shyly joked. I always loved his cute jokes. I swore I heard Rina and Shiho stifle their squeals behind me.
"It's alright; it gives us some time together." I replied. My cheeks turned more red when I felt his finger touching mine, and I immediately looked down. But before I did, I saw Fuji-P blushing as well. We were still learning how to be a couple. All of a sudden, Fuji-P leaned towards me and gave me a quick kiss on the lips. It caused me to let go of the ball.
"To keep your fighting spirit for studying up. You can do it." Fuji-P gave a smile before he ran back towards Kimata. He couldn't stop glancing back at me while I waved. When he was too far away, I sighed happily and burst out loud.
"Having a boyfriend is the best!" My lovely dovely feelings were cut off when I remembered something. "Ah." I quick turned over to Shiho and Rina who had the biggest smile ever. "I'll see you at the lacrosse practice, I need to do something first." They nodded while I ran away towards my old Junior High.
I had arrived to the gym and quickly changed into lacrosse uniform. It was light blue this time. I'll never get used to the new uniform, regardless of the years I'd be in this school. I grabbed my lacrosse stick and ran outside. As I approached to my teammates, I repeatedly apologized for my tardiness. The Captain kept scolding me like a child who came home late. That was the Captain's special ability. Stern but like a caring mother. The Captain, whose name was Akemi, split us in two groups. As usual, I was paired with Shiho and Rina. Rina positioned herself in the middle with one of the opposing team, their sticks crossed. Akemi stood in between and threw the ball up in the air. Rina tried to catch it but the opposing team managed to catch it before her. I yelled at the others to spread out and intercept her.
The captain never minded when I started to lead the the team, being former Captain. Shiho stood infront of the girl with the ball, Shiho clashed her stick with hers, causing her to lose the ball. One from our team caught it and I instinctively backed away and halted at the restraining line while I yelled at Shiho to pass it to me. She threw the ball towards me and I quick turned to catch it but I got tangled with my feet and fell down first with my knee then my stomach.
The Captain and the others rushed towards me but Shiho and Rina were the firsts one to be beside me. Akemi placed her stick down to investigate my knee. She touched it, causing me to wince in pain.
"It looks like a scrap. Misumi-san, I'm afraid you need to be benched for the rest of the practice. You should also visit a doctor to take a look." I didn't protest. Akemi-san was impossible to win in an argument. I limped and sat down the bench, Shiho and Rina still looked at me with worried expressions. When they returned back to the practice, I stretched my leg while I winced again. I felt my muscle spasmed all of sudden and stiffness. My knee was bruised and felt weak. It felt like forever but when I looked at the school clock, it was only two minutes left.
"Are you okay?" I jolted at the sudden voice, I turned around and saw Honoka giggling at me. I calmed down before I replied.
"It's just a scrap."
"You need band-aid?" Band-aid? Too much of a kiddy thing.
"Nah, it's it's not bleeding. Oh, can you come after school to Akane-san? She needs help to decorate Christmas lights for her van." I changed the subject. She nodded and I added.
"Great, I'll see you then!" I heard my Captain approaching me. Shiho and Rina greeted Honoka. While they were conversing, Rina picked me up as I lifted my foot up. We talked for ten minutes before parting ways. Honoka had to get inside to get her stuff and we went to the gym. Rina placed me down on a bench in girls locker room. She opened my locker while I undressed and placed my school uniform next to me before going to hers and does the same. When I just put on my red skirt, I wobbled to my locker to pick my shirt, I didn't notice my bracelet fell down due to the girls talking too loudly.
"You still have the old hair clip?" Rina pointed out as I took the said clip out of my hair.
"Yeah, been with me since I was twelve. Been thinking of throwing it away. You want it?" I handed it over to Rina. Rina took it immediately and inspected it closely. "Thanks! It's so cute, such a shame to throw it away. Are you coming?" Rina asked as she picked up her bag while Shiho leaned on the door frame.
"No, you guys go ahead. See you tomorrow!" I knew I'd slow them down due to my knee injury. Two of them left the scene with the door still open. I was about to put on my blazer when -he- stood in the door frame.
"Ah, I'm so sorry, Misumi-san, but the janitor told me he dropped his keys here." I relaxed my shoulders. At least I was fully dressed when he came.
"Oh, I can help." One of the biggest mistakes I made. I should've just gone home. But no, I crouched down to look underneath the bench first. Miyazaki-san gave a sinister smirk and slowly and quietly closed the door behind him, then turned the knob above as a sound escaped. I turned my head to Miyazaki-san, and before I knew it, he pounced on me as I hit the floor with a grunt. While he pinned me, I felt the floor for any objects I could use against him. I felt my lacrosse stick, clutched onto it and hit him with it so hard that it broke into two.
The head of the stick flew across the room from the blow, but I didn't have time to grief. I used the bench to lift myself up while he was busy recovering from the blow and stepped over him, but he recovered quickly and grabbed my ankle, causing me to fall down the floor again on my stomach this time.
I flipped over to face him as he dragged himself onto my body again, but I used my good leg to kick him in the face. I managed to see blood ooze out of his nose before I tried fleeing again, but he still had his hand on my injured leg. His face turned red, and his eyebrows furrowed as he sat on my chest. He wrapped his big adult hands around my neck and pressed it down tightly.
"You fucking bitch." he muttered. I felt my airhole close up as I gasped for air and choked. I placed my hand on his face to try and push him away but he was an adult male and half my strength. When that failed, I tried to kick my feet. I know it wasn't the most logical solution, but I was desperately fighting for my life. My body went weak, my hands dropped down, and my kicking slowly stopped as the world around me slowly turned black and the discomfort of lack of oxygen ebbed away.
I opened my eyes suddenly and found myself outside the gym. I looked at the building, confused, but took the chance to run away and question it later. Weirdly enough, at that time, I didn't feel my heart beat faster or my lungs gasping for air when I ran as it started to snow. I thought at first it was because of the shock of what had happened caused it but I was wrong. Or maybe I wasn't thinking about it because of the shock.
I found Honoka and Hikari at our usual meeting place. I felt relieved, my thoughts were gathered and I could think logically again. I stopped in my tracks when I noticed something; my knee wasn't hurting when I ran over here. I knew it! Akemi-san was overly worried over nothing, it was just a temporarily injury. I walked towards them, skipping. Honoka was sitting on the chair while Hikari stood near the table. Both of them looked worried. Was I really that late for the meet up? It was last of my worries, I just couldn't wait to put Miyazaki behind the bars.
"Honoka! Hikari!" I bellowed at the girls. I lowered my arm when neither of them responded.
"She's late...too late." Hikari said worriedly.
"Y-you know Nagisa, she's a tardy person." Honoka said as she smiled reassuringly. That smile that combined with façade and worry. That don't bode good... Hikari looked at her watch attached on her forearm.
"But...it's been half an hour."
"What are you talking about, I'm right here!" I waved my arms around. Akane stepped out of the van with a sorrowful expression and for some reason distanced herself from the girls.
"This is too familiar..." she muttered to herself as she folded her arms to comfort herself. Somehow, I heard what she said. Familiar? What was she talking about? Me being tardy? What was she talking about. I desperately went for Honoka's arm to try to communicate with her.
"Honoka, can't you see me?!" I yelled. The tone even sounded desperate. Without a warning, my hand passed through Honoka's arm. I looked at my hand, my eyes widened and befuddled. What the hell was going on.
"There you are. I've been looking all for you." I turned around to the source of the voice. Somehow, despite the situation, I snapped out of it. Maybe I thought the guy would have answers for me. But I didn't expect for the person to help me to be a dog, Kishu breed. (4) in a Hakama, with divided umanori, waraji, kimono and wore a katana on his waist. (5). I managed to glance at the mon (6) on his chest; it looked like crest of sun and a sickle under it with the hook reaching to the side. A book appeared out of the thin air and he flipped through the pages.
"W-w-who are you?! What's going on?!"
"Misumi Nagisa, age sixteen. Hm, another victim of Miyazaki." The Shinigami said nonchalantly and closed his book as it disappeared back to wherever it went to.
"W-what...n-no, I-I managed to escape!" I yelled at him. The man snapped his finger and we appeared back in the girls locker room. I, if I could, would gasp and clasped my hands over my mouth when I saw something familiar.
My body. My lifeless body.
"Dammit!" Miyazaki yelled frustrated. He was wiping the blood on the floor with janitor's equipment. He must've broken into the janitor's closet. When he was done, he saw my bracelet lying on the floor. I didn't even remember having dropped it. He picked it up and pocketed it. He then stood up and closed my locker but it was left half-opened. He didn't noticed my broken lacrosse stick, one pieced lied underneath the bench and the other underneath a random locker.
"Strangled to death. You're lucky compared to his latest victims." The Shinigami commented.
"W-what do you mean?" I knew what he mean, I just didn't want to believe that Miyazaki would do it.
"His victims usually lose their virginity before death." I bit my lip and looked back at Miyazaki. I wanted to kick him so badly.
"My name is Ichiro, I'm a Shinigami, God of Death. Buuuut, your spirit can't pass on." he explained. Wait...Shinigami? That meant I was...
Dead.
I wish I could've cried, yelled, cursed at the man who took my life away. Without a body, I couldn't do any of it. The only thing I could do at the moment was the oldest action in the book.
Denial.
"Good, cause it's not my time yet!"
"You Humans..." he sighed. "I'll leave you to comprehend the situation." I think Ichiro noticed that I didn't reply, I just stared at Miyazaki taking out a trash bag and stuffed my body into it. I heard him snap his finger and assumed he disappeared. He took my white blazer and stuffed it too, any evidence that I left behind. He eventually left the building as I stared at the thin air.
"Help...help me..."
