Update 4-29-2021- So I have taken quite a brake from this story, not because I'm tired of it or anything, in fact I'm still making new chapters. I have just been taking time off to focus on getting out of the military, currently 5 months left. I have just finished revising the beginning of my story by taking the first two chapter and fixing the horrid grammar mistakes I some how never noticed, which for some reason was mainly in first person and was entirely different from the rest of the chapters, I have fixed the chapters and revised them and placed them at a more appropriate point in my story. So as of now, "Beginning of A New Start" is now officially the start of my story. Thank you for all you patience and I hope you enjoy the story as I get back into posting more chapters.
"Oh, I'm so going to be late" A cookie fueled girl said to herself.
She rushed out of her house with her semblance and headed to the bullhead docks to catch whatever bullhead was left heading to Vale. She looked at her scroll and noticed it was 7:30 AM and the airship to Beacon was leaving at 8:00 AM.
'I should be able to make it to the bullhead by 7:35 AM and then take the 20 minute trip and be able to catch the airship to Beacon just in time' She thought to herself.
She reached the bullhead heading to Vale just barley by using her semblance to squeeze through the shutting door of the bullhead.
The bullhead took about 20 minutes, but finally landed and the door lowered and she raced out in search of the correct airship. She noticed she only had 2 minutes left but luckily found the correct airship. She was about to run for it until she saw what looked like a young boy around her age sitting on a bench. It looked like he had tears going down his face and was clutching a necklace or something. Being concerned and curious, she walked up to the boy and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Are you okay?" The girl asked concerned.
As she was waiting for his answer, she got a better look at him, he had a blackish/dark grey suit on. Not one you wear to an office but a combat on that was tight to his body. She had also noticed his white/grey hair with purple tips.
'His hair is pretty cool, it's basically like mine but different colors and shorter!' She squealed in her thoughts.
"I'm okay, just thinking about personal matters" He said to her with a smile and tear stained eyes.
She couldn't tell if his smile was fake, it felt genuine, but with a hint of sadness to it. Ultimately she decided not to pry.
"Oh... okay, what's your name?" She asked.
"Oh my name is Onyx Kanuchi" he said as he was looking directly at her as if he was observing her.
The girl started to blush as she felt her cheeks heat up.
'STOP blushing, he'll think you're weird' She thought to herself.
"What about you?" He asked.
"I am Ruby Rose!" Ruby said with a big smile while puffing her chest out.
"Well it's nice to meet you, what are you doing here? He asked.
"I'm on my way to Beacon, was just about to get on that airship over there" she says and points to it.
"Oh, that's cool, I'm heading to beacon as well, just got lost in thought I guess, haha" Onyx said as he tried to play off the sad look on his face.
"It's okay!" Ruby said with a wide smile.
'Her smile reminds me of my mom kinda' Onyx thought and looked towards the airship.
"Hey Ruby," Onyx said.
She tilted her head and looked at me with a questioning face.
"You said that's the airship taking us to beacon right?" He asked.
She nodded her head while smiling still.
"The same one that is about to leave?" He asked with a serious tone.
"Yep that's the on-" she cut herself off as she turned around with a surprised face
"Oh shoot" She said.
Onyx grabbed her by the hand and pulled her along racing to get to the airship before its doors closed.
As Onyx grabbed Rubys hand by surprise, she had started to blush slightly. He was pulling her at a surprisingly fast pace racing to the airship. The airship closed its doors and lifted off right before they made it to the door.
"Dammit" Onyx says.
Ruby then bumped him on his head with her fist.
"Hey language!" She said with a semi serious cutesy tone.
"Huh, what was- bah never mind" he said while rubbing his head. " Well now what, we just missed our flight" He said with a tone of worry.
"Nah" Ruby said nonchalantly as she slapped his back. "I got this"
Ruby grabbed Onyx by his hand and activated her semblance and got to the highest rooftop. She looked around and found the airship and pulled out Crescent Rose and aimed it at the ground. She shot multiple rounds to boost the pair in the air and activated her semblance towards the airship. She whipped Crescent Rose out and swung it and hooked it to the airship. The door opens and 2 guards come to it with their weapons drawn.
"What are you two doing?" They demand.
"Well right now? Just hanging out, mind helping us in, we're heading to Beacon and missed the flight." Ruby said as she was hanging on for dear life.
"How do we know you're telling the truth?" The other guard questioned.
It looked like we were getting nowhere. Ruby decided to pull her secret weapon out. She closed her eyes and took a breath and put on the best puppy dog face she could.
"Please, we really didn't mean to miss the flight, you have to believe us" She said with a sad, but cutesy tone.
"Well okay, we'll let you off the hook this time" The guard says as he pulled the pair in and the door closes.
As the guards pulled them in and left, Onyx got up and held out his hand to Ruby which she grabbed and helped her up. He noticed her face was a little red as she grabbed his hand, but just brushed it off.
"Th-Thank you Onyx" She said with a smile
"No, thank you Ruby, without your quick thinking we would surely have not got to Beacon at all, that was amazing what you did, a little reckless, but amazing." He said.
Her face goes pretty red.
"Ahh it wasn't much, hehe" She played down her actions.
"RUBY!" Some chick with red eyes and what looked like flaming hair yelled marching over to them.
Rubys face went pale white as she was grabbed into a hug.
"On-yx, help me." She pleaded while gasping for air.
"Hey, you're kind of squeezing the life out of her, you could let her breathe a little" Onyx said with a nervous smile on his face.
The blond let her down gently.
"Explain yourself" The blond demanded.
Ruby explained all that went down and how she ended up attached to the side of the airship.
"Well at least you are alright. So who's your boyfriend rubes?" The blond teased in a whispered voice in Rubys ear and Rubys face immediately turned to a dark crimson red.
"Ya-Yang he's not my boyfriend" she stammers to say in a whispered tone.
"Is that right?" Yang said while looking directly at the Onyx. "Who are you?" She questioned
"Oh I'm Onyx" The white haired boy says.
"Well Onyx, I'm Yang, Ruby's half-sister." Yang explained.
"Well it's nice to meet you Yang." Onyx said with a small smile.
After 5 minutes of light conversation and being hounded by Yang's questions, Onyx decided to let the sisters be alone.
"Hey Ima go lay down for a bit till we reach Beacon" he said while walking away.
"Okay see you later Onyx" Both Ruby and Yang say as he walked towards a bench and layed down and slowly drifted off to sleep.
"Do you hear me child?" A voice called out.
Onyx opened his eyes and and noticed he was standing in a Greyish room that is lightly lit up.
"Who and where are you?" He asked.
"I am everywhere in this scape of your mind" The voice said.
'That doesn't help' Onyx thought.
"Well who are you?" He asked calmly.
"You will find out in time, young child, I'm surprised you are able to speak to me this early. You will know more in the coming future, for now I must go, and you must awake." It says before he jolted awake.
'What the hell was that' Onyx thought to himself.
He got up from the bench and walked towards a window and looked out and could see Beacon closing in.
"Time for a new start, right mom?" He said to himself.
