A Medieval Sonic Story: Chapter 10 - A Royal Marriage

It took about a month, but Sonic and Amy did manage to find a priest willing to marry them despite their different backgrounds. Queen Sabina came to Sonic's forge with a white dress, looking for her daughter. "Amy? Are you here?"

Amy comes out of Sonic's room, now four months pregnant and starting to show, with her hands on her belly. "I'm here. Is that what I think it is?"

The white hedgehog nods. "Yes, it's my wedding dress. I wore it when I married your father, and now I would like to offer it to you."

Amy takes the garment, looking it over. "Just one issue. You weren't pregnant when you got married."

Sabina nodded. "Indeed, but your mother knows how to work a needle and thread just as well as Cream and Vanilla. We've already made some adjustments for your belly. Go and try it."

Amy went into Sonic's room and changed into the dress. "Okay, here I come."

Sabrina ran and got Vanilla and Cream while Amy changed, and the two rabbits gasped with awe as Amy came back out. The queen was beaming with happiness. "You look beautiful."

Indeed she did. Amy's luscious curves were accentuated, her cleavage was on full display, and most importantly, her belly was not crushed or squeezed in any way. The pink hedgehog princess spun around and smiled. "This is wonderful! Every bit of this dress is comfortable, and my belly feels just fine. Excellent work!"

Vanilla smiles at Sabina. "Sonic is going to need some new undergarments when he sees her."

Sabina laughs. "Probably, but I wouldn't worry about him. He should be fine."

Amy changes back into her normal clothing and not a moment too soon, because Sonic came in with his wedding attire. His scars had finally fully healed, and he didn't even have any missing patches of fur from when he was whipped by King Sebastian Rose. Sonic kissed Amy and inhaled her scent, nuzzling her quills as he did. "Hello beautiful."

Amy shivered as her hormones flared. "Hello stud."

She inhaled his scent in return, her tail wagging. "Mmm… That's my mate."

Sonic purred to her. "I can't wait to see you in your wedding dress."

Amy purred back to him. "You are going to love it. I certainly did."

Sonic smiled. "I think you'll love what I chose to wear too."

Amy giggled, her tail wagging. "I can't wait. For almost four years I've wanted you as my husband, and soon it'll happen."

Sabina came over. "Hey you two. Ready for the big day?"

Sonic smiles and Amy quickly nods. "Of course we are."

The queen smiled. "Excellent. Well, the notices have been posted, but I don't think we'll see much of a crowd. It's a good distance away from any castle."

Sonic holds Amy to him. "We'll see. I'd honestly prefer a small wedding instead of a gaudy one."

Amy chuckles. "You forget that you're marrying a princess, Sonic. There will probably be a lot of people."

The day came, and as Amy said, the wedding was packed with people. The chosen area was beside a bend in the river, not far from the blacksmith forge. There were already minstrels playing, and food was everywhere. For Sonic's side, Tails was the Best Man. For Amy, Cream was the Maid of Honor.

Sabina and Vanilla were supervising the guests and catering when out of nowhere some trumpets sounded, and the Acorn family arrived. Sabina greeted them. "Well, this is a surprise. What brings you all the way out here?"

Queen Alicia hugged her. "Word travels fast, Queen Sabina. I hope we aren't intruding."

The white hedgehog hugged the chipmunk back. "Not at all. I'm happy you're here."

Prince Elias and King Maximilian were talking with Vanilla and Cream, while Sally found Sonic. "There you are."

Sonic bowed to her. "Hello Sally. What can I do for you?"

Sally looked in his eyes. "Are you sure about this? You're taking on a big responsibility."

Sonic smiled at the princess. "I can't let Amy do this alone, princess or not."

Sally hugged him. "I was hoping you'd say that. You'll make an excellent husband. I had hoped you'd choose me, but I can't fault your decision. Now, I'll leave you to finish getting ready."

Sonic gently grabbed her arm before she left. "Truth be told Sally, I almost did choose you, but my heart led me elsewhere. However, you and your family are allies to the Rose Kingdom, and as such, my allies as well. Thank you for coming."

The chipmunk smiled and left, and Sonic resumed getting ready. At 10 AM, it was time, and everyone gathered around the small wooden bridge spanning the river. The priest recited a blessing, and the musicians began playing. First to arrive were Tails, Cream, Vanilla, and Queen Sabina. Jacob and Dayna were in the crowd, watching for trouble.

The priest motioned to his left, and Sonic arrived, taking his place and doing his best to hide his nerves. He was dressed simply, wearing a blue woolen tunic with a leather belt around his waist and a matching cap. The priest motioned to his right, and the crowd parted as the song changed. Amy began her walk to the bridge in a white dress with red accents and a matching veil.

Sonic couldn't help beaming with pride as he saw the pink hedgehog. She did the same when she saw the cerulean speedster, a blush forming on her cheeks. The music stopped as Amy reached her spot, and the priest spoke to the crowd. "Instead of using rings, these two have asked for a hand-fasting to be performed due to Princess Amy's pregnancy."

The priest retrieved two cloths, one blue and one pink. Nodding to the two hedgehogs, Sonic takes Amy's right hand in his own, and looks into her eyes. "In the sight of God and in the presence of these gathered here, I, Sonic the Hedgehog, intend to marry you, Princess Amy Rose."

Amy wiped her eyes and took a breath. "In the sight of God and in the presence of those gathered here, I, Princess Amy Rose, intend to marry you, Sonic the Hedgehog."

The priest spoke to the crowd. "If there is anyone who objects, speak now or forever be silent."

Silence reigned for ten seconds, so the priest continued. "Very well. Join hands please."

Sonic and Amy joined hands again, and the priest tied both cloths around them. "In this manner, the princess and the blacksmith are showing their commitment to each other. What God has joined, let no one separate."

The priest stepped aside, and Queen Sabina came forward, holding two small golden crowns. "In normal situations, this would not happen, but I am allowing it because the king has refused to come, and I can think of no reason why it shouldn't happen. Sonic, you have shown me time and again the strength of your character, regardless of the situation or circumstances. I have discussed this with Amy, and both of us are willing. If you also are willing, when this ceremony is finished, you will be a prince, and as my daughter's husband, the next king of my kingdom. What say you?"

It took a minute to register, but when it did, Sonic looked at Amy. "Me? A prince? I don't know anything about that. Why me?"

Amy smiled and nodded. "Yes, you, a prince, and while you don't know that role yet, I will help you learn it, and so will my mother."

The blue hedgehog turned from the pink one to the white one. "Will I still be able to work my forge? It's all I know."

Sabina smiles and nods. "You may. I know you're a blacksmith at heart, so I grant you your request."

Sonic takes a breath and nods. "Then I accept."

The queen nodded, and the priest came back over, standing next to her. "These gathered here are witnesses this day of all that has taken place."

There was a thunderous response from the crowd. "We are witnesses!"

The priest looks at the two hedgehogs. "Kneel please."

They do, and Sabina takes Amy's crown. "Amy, do you swear to rule as you have been shown, to be just, fair, and to look after the needs of the people of Rose Kingdom when you reign as queen?"

Amy takes a breath and nods. "I so swear in the presence of those here today."

The queen smiles and places the crown on her head, then picks up Sonic's crown. It was a little larger than Amy's, but it meant the same. "Sonic, do you swear to rule as you will be shown, to be just, fair, ready to defend the kingdom, and look after the needs of your queen and the citizens, when the time comes for you to rule as king?"

Sonic looks at Amy and nods, his deep voice heard clearly. "I so swear in the presence of those here today."

Sabina stems a few tears and places the crown on his head. "So be it. As queen, I give you my blessing as prince and princess of Rose Kingdom. May God give you a long and prosperous reign."

The pink and blue hedgehogs stand back up, and Sabina takes her place beside Vanilla. The priest takes his place again, and Sonic repeats after him. "I, Sonic the Hedgehog, take thee, Princess Amy Rose, to have and to hold, to love and cherish forever, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, as long as we both shall live."

Amy feels a few tears fall, and she repeats after the priest. "I, Princess Amy Rose, take thee, Sonic the Hedgehog, to have and to hold, to love and cherish forever, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, as long as we both shall live."

The priest turns to Sonic again, asking the obvious question to make extra sure they wanted to do this since they had different upbringings. "Sonic the Hedgehog, do you take Princess Amy Rose as your wife?"

Sonic nods. "I do."

Amy sniffles, and the priest turns to her. "Princess Amy Rose, do you take Sonic the Hedgehog as your husband?"

Amy nods. "I-I d-do."

The priest unties their hands and gives the blue cloth to Amy. The pink one he gives to Sonic. They are instructed to wrap them around their shoulders, and the priest speaks to the crowd. "By the power vested in me by the Holy Trinity, I pronounce Sonic and Amy to be husband and wife! Sonic, you may kiss your bride."

Sonic and Amy kiss each other deeply as the crowd cheers, and the priest has to shout to be heard. "I present to you Prince Sonic and Princess Amy Rose Hedgehog!"

The two hedgehogs are showered with bird seed as they kiss again before joining the guests in the festivities. Tails is the first to congratulate them, then Prince Elias and Princess Sally Acorn, and after them were King Maximilian and Queen Alicia. The celebration lasted the whole day and the crowd finally dispersed as night fell.

Sonic carried Amy over the threshold of his sleeping area in the forge, and Amy kissed him. "My prince… My one and only prince."

Sonic blushed a little and kissed her back. "My one and only princess."

Amy blushed and slowly got out of Sonic's arms. "I don't know about you, but I'm pretty worn out."

Sonic nods. "I am too, and that's saying something. Let's get some rest."

The newly married hedgehogs undressed and climbed in bed, with Amy snuggling up to her cobalt husband. "My love? Where should we consummate our marriage?"

Sonic held his rose-pink wife close to him. "Well, I do know of a place in the far north of the country. We'll go there. It overlooks a crystal-clear lake, and there's no one around for several miles."

Amy's tail starts wagging. "Sounds like the perfect place to make all the marriage noise we want."

Sonic laughs. "Yes it is, but let's do that once we're rested."

Sonic and Amy are quickly asleep, snuggled close together in the warmth of a blacksmith forge.
