"I'm glad you are here," Ziwu said.
"I'm glad I came," Jacob said. "You doing okay?" He asked.
"I'm fine," Ziwu said. I have a gift for you, but I will give it to you later. "
"Good," Jacob said.
He grasped her hand, and they went to join the fun.
During the party, Leah looked around at everyone having fun. She saw Jacob walking around with Ziwu on his arm. She saw her cousin Emily talking with Sam. She watched her brother Seth play soccer with some of the other boys. As she was looking around, she heard someone walk up behind her.
"Hello, Leah." She heard a male voice say.
"What do you want Jordan?" Leah asked flatly.
"Don't be like that baby girl." He said touching her chin.
"Don't touch me," Leah said swatting away his hand.
As Jordan was about to reach out to touch her again, a white hand shot out and slapped his hand away.
"I believe the lady asked not to be touched." A deep male voice said.
Leah looked to the side to see Li Lanjue, Ziwu's brother. She was enchanted by his muscular build, which was defined by his clothes. She liked how authoritative he stood as he looked at Jordan intensely.
"This is none of your business," Jordan said.
He attempted to go at Leah again only for Lanjue to grasp his wrist and shove him back. Jordan went up to Lanjue and threw a punch only for Lanjue to dodge it. He blocked his blows with snake-like quickness before kicking Jordan in the stomach. Jordan fell to his knees and Lanjue looked down at him.
"Let's get something straight," Lanjue said. "At this place, you are on my territory. This is your first and last warning. Don't let me catch you harassing any woman. Understand?"
"Yes," Jordan said.
Lanjue waved over one of the servants and whispered something to him. The servant bowed to Lanjue and helped Jordan up. Leah looked up at him as the servant led Jordan away.
"Are you alright miss?" He asked.
"Yes. Thank you." Leah said.
"You're welcome." He said. "May I know your name?"
"Leah Clearwater." She said.
He held his hand out to her and she put her hand in his. Meanwhile, Jacob and Ziwu were talking by a water fountain. A servant carrying snacks walked past and Ziwu grabbed a pink flower-shaped pastry off the tray. She tore the pastry in half and gave one to Jacob.
"Thank you," Jacob said. "So you know how to dance?" He asked.
"Yes. I've been dancing since I was 5." Ziwu said.
"DO you think you could show me someday?" Jacob asked.
"I'm dancing later for the festival," Ziwu said.
As they were talking, a servant came over to Ziwu and told her it was time for her to dance. She followed the servant to the stage that had been set up for the entertainment. The band had set up both traditional and Western instruments to play music for the princess. She walked up onstage and stood in the middle of the stage. A servant took her wrap from around her shoulders before the band started to play a song. Everyone watched as Ziwu raised her hands gracefully and started to dance. A fan was tossed toward the stage and she caught it with ease. She snapped open the fan and started to twirl it on her finger as she danced. She started to twirl around showing off her beauty to everyone. Jacob was mesmerized by Ziwu as she danced for the crowd. When the song ended, she posed with her hands above her head as everyone cheered for her. She bowed gracefully before she stepped off the stage. Jacob met up with her and he hugged her.
"May I have everyone head toward the tables for dinner?" Mr Xue announced.
Ziwu led Jacob over to the main table where her brother and the elders were sitting. She and Jacob sat down together beside Lanjue and Leah. As they sat down, Jacob could see Ziwu's color draining from her face. Leah looked at her and could tell something was wrong.
"Lanjue? I think something is wrong with Ziwu." Leah said.
Lanjue looked at his sister and called for Xiaojiu. She came over to them and gave Lanjue a small black box.
"Give this to Ziwu," Lanjue said as he gave Leah the box.
Leah looked at Lanjue and he nodded to her as if he knew something she did not. Leah stood up and walked over to Ziwu. She knelt beside her and tapped her shoulder. Ziwu looked at her weirdly before Leah showed her the box. Leah opened it to reveal a glowing pink pill.
"Here. Lanjue said it should help you." She said.
Ziwu took the pill out of the box and swallowed it.
"Thank you, Leah," Ziwu said.
"You're welcome," Leah said.
Leah went to sit back in her seat as the servants bought out the food to eat. Lanjue stood up to make a small speech. After giving the speech, everyone started eating. Leah looked at one of the dishes and made a weird face.
"What are these?" Leah asked.
"Dumplings," Ziwu said.
"By the way, Lanjue? May I ask you something?" Leah asked.
"Sure," Lanjue said.
"Why did you ask me to give that pill to Ziwu?" She asked.
"Jacob told me about what happened that day in the market between you and Ziwu. I wanted to give you a chance to make amends with my sister." Lanjue said.
Later on toward the end of the festival, Lanjue and Ziwu were saying goodbye to the last few guests that were leaving. Leah walked up to Lanjue as he said goodbye to Quil Sr.
"Good night Lanjue," Leah said.
"Have a good night Miss Leah," Lanjue said.
Lanjue grasped her hand and kissed it, making her blush. She watched Lanjue as he walked over to his sister as she was saying goodnight to Jacob. She watched as Ziwu gave Jacob a black box. Jacob kissed her on the forehead before running off to his father's truck so they could go home. Lanjue and Ziwu went inside and headed up to bed.
