Chapter 14: Oath under the Rising Sun

Part 2: Damn it, why am I keep getting more kids? I never sign up to be a dad!!

After Herpes has teleported away to Remnant, me and my crew had been settling down in Osaka. As it turns out, this is where Takemikazuchi and his orphan kids lives. Man, it's so weird seeing those characters as small brats.

Who knew that Kashima Ouka used to be the smallest of them all?

What started off as a vacation ended up as permanent stay. I finally remember why the Sanjouno name sounds familiar when the damn brats brought over Kid Haruhime to play around the clearing where I am building the White Raven's new HQ.

It's been four months since we moved here. At first, everyone questioned me as for why I suddenly decide to stay here instead of returning to Orario.

"Why would I want to return to that dreadful place? I had always hated it."

They let it go after that, though Jaune seems to plan to return back. For now, he will be helping me finish up building this HQ, but after that, he thinks he wants to transfer over to Takemikazuchi and join his familia to help them raise fund to support the orphanage.

I didn't mind. Jaune has always been a better person than me. I have 500 million Valis and I didn't even think about sharing any to them.

Tonight, we will have a party, both to celebrate the completion of the new HQ as well as sending off Jaune to Take.

)))))))))))))))))))))))

"Haru! You caught Lily!"

"I told you I am good at hide and seek!"

Liliruca and Haruhime giggles as they ran off with the boys to play another game. Man, Lord Sanjouno is going to make a huge fuss after this. But eh, fuck that guy really. Who the hell disown a kid over eating a fruit? It has something to do with plum or some shit. Sorry, I never bother to pay attention to the backstory that much.

Takemikazuchi came over to me while I'm having some roasted rabbit. "Thank you so much for feeding the kids, Ravencroft-dono. The kids has been growing healthy ever since you sponsor our shrine."

Right now, Far East is having a huge civil war. Osaka itself was not affected, as the war is currently concentrated at the region between Edo and Ezo. However, it do send a massive influx of refugees, to which Osaka and Kyoto, being the nearest cities had been hit hard. With farmers had been unable to work the land, bad refugee resettlement and overall chaos, famine struck and hundreds die each week, causing diseases to spread from terrible funerary management.

Overall, I truly take a terrible place to have a vacation for. Still, fuck Orario and The Plot. I'm going to just chill for this round.

"It's fine, Take. And just call me Soren. You should be thanking Ryuu over there. Honestly I didn't even think about sparing you guys any money."

"Don't be like that, Ra… no, Soren-dono. You still gives us charity when you were asked. That is still more than most people had did."

"Eh.", I shrugged.

I talked over Take about some more plans about rebuilding his shrine. While I'm not joining Takemikazuchi Shrine on official capacity like Jaune, I figure I have no issue to being their affiliate. Just because I am rich doesn't means I want to just laze on bed everyday while slowly draining my money.

Ladies and gentlemen, this fanfic title is now Working as a Farmer in Osaka.

Take excused himself after we done discussing the projects we will be conducting over the next few months. I will be sponsoring the renovation of Takemikazuchi Shrine, allowing him to host most if not all the orphans that's stranded in Osaka. At the same time, I will be opening a lot of lands to be turned into farms and ranches. Since the cost of materials and labors is 100 times lower than Orario, my 500 mil capital proves to be a superpower. I'm pretty much dollar store Bruce Wayne outside of Orario.

Man, if this fanfic ends up with me pulling a fucking Nobunaga no Yabou and I ended up conquering the whole Far East, I will laugh my ass off. But well, with no magic stones available in bulk to consume, I can't grow strong like I did back in the dungeon. The only hard hitter we have is Ryuu.

And I can't make contract with a god to gain access to excelia either. Jaune and Lily can, but not me. So no contracting with Take for some boost either.

"Soren."

Ryuu sat over beside me as she brought over a jug of juice. Everyone knows by now of my aversion to alcohol. I hate losing control over my sobriety, so I never drink the damn thing unless sipping a cup just for the sake of politeness. The taste is crap anyway

"Yep, Ryuu. How's the food going? We have enough, right?"

"That we did.", she pour me a glass and passed it to me. "We had gathered plenty of workers and after feeding them for the past month, I think they are healthy enough to start working now."

I drink the orange juice. Man, could really use some ice.

"Good. Is the Tree going to be a problem?"

Tree being referring to the number Three, which refer to Sanjouno.

"The Tree has been raising a fuss over the rising reputation of White Raven Agency. We give the refugees food, help them to relocate and provide them with work opportunity. Some may see it as us trying to uproot the Tree."

"Hmm…."

"Do you want to uproot the Tree, Soren?"

"We'll wait and see. And if there's any tree need to be chopped down?"

I drank the whole juice in one gulp.

"I'll bring the axe myself."

Ryuu nodded, and she fill my glass with juice again. We sat there silently as we observe the people eat and be merry.

Then, Jaune came to talk.

"Hey Soren, Ryuu. Am I interrupting anything?"

Ryuu shook her head. "Nothing, Jaune, we're just relaxing."

"Oh good. Anyway Soren, can I ask you something?"

"What?"

"Well, I have an idea."

))))))))))))))))))

"Good morning, Lord Soren!"

Urghhh, what did I just agreed myself into?

A few nights ago, Jaune had asked me to help out teaching the kids some…. Well whatever. It's not like I had prepare any syllabus whatsoever. He just say to just ramble on like usual.

Dafak did you mean ramble on?

Anyway, the kids, over 80 of them looks at me like I'm a god, which is hella ironic coz they literally live with a god. I am Lord Soren Ravencroft, provider of food and savior of children. I'm like the dad who finally returns from his long quest to find milk.

Urghh, I don't even like kids. So why am I keep finding myself saddled with more brats along the way?

"Well brats, what did you want to learn?"

That was a mistake as the kids all suggest to learn so many things, or just playing I guess.

Eh fuck it. I'll just settle with what every kid finds to be cool and simple enough for me to explain.

Just teach them to fight, lol.

After that, for the next few hours I began to drill the kids over proper basic fighting forms. I slowly picked out the kids that wasn't into it or just doesn't have the aptitude for it, which leave me with half the kids. As revenge for putting me into this position, I told them to go to Jaune and have him teach them math or some shit.

Over the course of a few weeks, I began to split the kids according to what style that suits them. I got another influx of orphans that came from… well I don't really give a shit. Anyway after another session of filtering, I had myself over 60 students under my Miner Combat 101. Yes, pun very much intended. Corvid's Éclair fanfics has buttloads of unapologetic puns.

I kept training the kids and before I know it, winter came. That is when I start to diversify their training.

Probably because they canon characters, the og four members of Take's guild are my star students. Ouka is gradually growing into his tanker build, while Mikoto is probably going to be an ever more deadly swordswoman by the time she get into canon timeline. I don't know when does Take gives them Falna in canon, but this time because of my interference, Take had given Falna to all 60 of my combat students to help out their growth.

Right now, the kids are solid middling Level 1s. I start to have them fighting weak monsters in controlled environment every weak, which gives them more excelia gains than just training and sparring. Take doesn't like it much but relented as I even have Ryuu around to really make sure nothing going to harm the kids.

As it started to snow, I let Ryuu takeover the main bulk of the class while I take a team of 6 kids for survival training that lasted a week per team. Obviously, I grouped the OG Take guild members together, but I added 2 more kids to fit the 10 teams split I envisioned. We travel the land, learn how to survive with scarce resource and strategize over how to avoid danger and if need be, how to take it down.

I was done with training my final team and was on my way back when a messenger from the Sanjouno clan had found me and passed the order to summon me to meet Lord Sanjouno.

Sheesh, what took you so long you damn fox?

"Tell your lord this, messenger.", I command the messenger imperiously. "Lord Soren Ravencroft is coming with his consort, so he better prepare a proper feast for us."

The messenger looks like he is insulted by my brazen request for a feast, but he made no fuss over it. My reputation has grown greatly in Osaka after spending over 50 million in disaster relief and helping refugees to settle across Osaka.

Lord Sanjouno is a fool for not not taking advantage of the refugees to build himself a new loyal population. Population that is now favors me, a Gaijin over their traditional lord.

Damn it, I wasn't even planning it but before I know it I am about to devour Osaka for myself. For fucks sake!
