Chapter 7:shadow of the day

My pov:

I sigh as I reach a pond which on the map was the rendezvous point. I take a quick look around for Shadow and then at the water. Everyone always thought I was scared of water but really my spikes were born stronger than a normal hedgehogs. So unlike normal hedgehogs who can float on their spikes mine are heavier and drag me down.

I sigh and take a seat thinking about what mom said. I had only been in one relationship. Princess Sally and I had loved each other but I was focused on fighting more than her. But she also didn't realize that adventure was part of me if i wasn't running,stopping bad guys, i wouldn't be Sonic, i wouldn't be me. I tried to make it work but after it ended i saw relationships as a literal ball and chain.

Amy wanted me to stay close to her. Other girls always said if I slowed down i could finally be a good partner. Everywhere I went it sounded more like a relationship would tie me down. But if like being friends with blaze would be like our relationship then it would be freeing.

I was brought out of my musing by a gentle kick. "Come on Sonic stop spacing out." I look up to see Shadow with a bit of an angry look. "Get up."

I get up and stretch. "Alright Shadow what did you need?"

"Well first I found the last chaos emerald." He said. "I would give it now but I need it for a mission."

"Ah ok. Is that it?" I ask confused.

"No i also wanted to make sure that you were ok. The best way to check is." Before I can ask what he was going to say he punched me. I quickly got into a guarded stance and feels his presence behind me. As he goes to hit me I land on my hands and knock him off his feet. "Oof good but sloppy."

"We'll see about that faker." I growl slightly frustrated and runs at him as he runs towards me. I manage to make him think I'm going to punch him in the face but as we get close I curl into a ball hitting him in the chest flinging him into the water.

But before I can celebrate I feel water hit me and something hit me in my ball form. As I bounce around in trees i feel myself hit something soft and an "oof". I quickly uncurl and kick him in the side of the head. "Nice try shadow but I've gotten better since our last real fight."

"Heh I'll give you that faker." He chuckled as he got up pressing his fist into his jaw to pop his neck. "I'll go hurry up on my mission. Good luck with the titan."

I smile and nod as he teleports away. I stretch popping my back and runs home. I sigh happy to be home again and unlocks the door. As I enter I giggle as i hear a light tap from my closet. As I open the door I find an old friend. "Hey caliber sorry for being gone for so long." I grab his handle.

"Sir Sonic. Where have you been." I quickly tell him what had happened. "Ah yes those titans were tough from what you told me." I nod and smile remembering the time I was in his world. I had left after helping find a worthy ruler. Caliber was willing stayed with me but we still go back at least once a month.

After looking back on the memory I head to the garage so I can get some oil. As I do I clean caliber, he may be magical but he can still rust. After I finish I set him up and goes to the object in the middle of the room. As I uncover it I smile looking at the tornado 1. My last gift from Juilian before he went mad. I may not be as smart as Tails but i could repair and build simple mechanical devices. Before Tails had appeared I had repaired it 3 times.

I sigh I had been 8 when it happened. I didn't know why but Julian kicked me out. The last thing he had said was. "If it wasn't for the fact I still care for you I would robotocize you." I took my plane to a workshop he had in the woods and had found out he was making flickys into power sources a week later. So I went and freed them starting our 15 year long fight. When I was 10 Tails joined me and I taught him all the mechanical skills I knew and he flew high.

I was broken from my musings again by a knock on the door. "Hmm?" I look at the clock surprised to see it was already 6 pm. "Time flies when you're reminiscing." I go to the door and open it finding a cute feline. "Ah oh hey Blaze." I put my hand on the doorframe trying to look causal but miss and almost fall over.

She giggles and smiles genuinely surprising me since it wasn't like a masked smile. "Good to see you Sonic. Mind if i come in?"

"Oh yeah sure." I moved aside so she could come in and as she came in I close the door. "What would you like to do first?"

"Well I'm hungry how about we make some chilli dogs? If you have a grill i could make the dogs over a fire." She giggles as I smile at the idea of a chili dog.

"Yeah I do but I thought you didn't know how to cook?" I ask as i remember hearing about a time she burned food.

She groans. "Everyone assumes that because Marine always talks about the time I almost burned down the kitchen. But I'm a decent cook i just put a little too much flame into the fire pit."

"Ah my bad." I rub the back of my head embarrassed. "Well I'll work on making the chili."

"Ok but don't make it as hot as normal." I pout slightly as she says to make it milder but nods.

I smile enjoying our conversation as we make our parts. After we finish I eat at least 40 while Blaze had the other 10. I use a lot of energy running while Blaze mostly walked but she also used a bit of energy using her flames.

"Well Blaze ready to go on an adventure?" I smile as she nods and we put our dishes away. I open the door for her and locks the door behind me. I shoot off leaving a blue trail behind me and looks behind me seeing blaze with a fire trail.

After 30 minutes of running we arrive in Britain and climbed up Big Ben. Blaze was a little nervous but unlike the first time we were on a clock we avoided the hands and sat on the roof.

"It's been fun Blaze." I sigh happily at first not noticing the soft rubbing on my arm. But as I look at her I blush seeing her unconsciously rubbing my arm. "Well it sounds like we should be facing that titan soon turns out Shadow already got the last chaos emerald."

"Hmm oh really? May want to tell Eggman so he doesn't waste more resources." Blaze said giving me a comforting smile.

"Oh of course." I pull out my phone and quickly texts Julian about the information. As i put my phone in my pocket i look over to see Blaze yawning. "Oh um wanna come sleep at my place?"

"Heh oh I'd love to Sonic. But i should probably bring the sol emeralds home. They shouldn't affect the chaos emeralds anymore but i think we should separate them for at least a day." I frown but nod best not to risk the worst besides I don't know how long she's been here.

"Ok I'll see you in a couple days." I smile and shake her hand and kiss it playfully. "Have a good night your highness."

"Oh knock it off Sonic." Blaze giggles and stands up frowning as she sees the ground below. "Take care of yourself Sonic." I frown seeing her frown as she takes a couple sol emeralds out opening a rift and closes it behind her.

I sigh and run home over the ocean. But unlike when Blaze was nearby it was wetter and colder. As I got closer to North America I look to my left seeing angel island and the titan flying in the sky. As I pass I see the island that was once part of a continent that holds central city, the ancient ruins, Tail's workshop, and my home. As I get home I put caliber away and goes to bed.
