Chapter 77: CatNap Vs KittyNap: Familiar Felines
It was the start of a new day. CatNap and Baba were still sleeping in Baba's bedroom of her apartment together. An alarm went off. CatNap was the first to wake up. He yawned and looked down and noticed something was off.
"Hmm?" He wondered as his vision was still blurry from waking up,
"Morning…" Baba's voice said,
CatNap rubbed his eyes and noticed that he slept with Baba. He gasped as he and Baba made eye contact.
"AHH!" Baba shouted,
"Oh my God!" CatNap shouted as he got out of bed, "Holy crap!"
The two were breathing heavily.
"D-Did we just sleep together?" Baba asked him,
CatNap looked all around him.
"We did, but nothing major happened." He replied, "...Aside from the kiss and cuddling…"
Baba sighed in relief.
"Damn…" She said, "I guess we're a couple now, huh? But still, we were so tired…"
"Yeah…" CatNap said, "Weird way to tell the others around the campfire…"
The two heard a knock on Baba's door.
"Wonder who that could be…" Baba said as she got up and stretched, "Come on, let's not keep them waiting."
Baba and CatNap went to the front door of Baba's apartment for Baba to open it. Touille was outside.
"Good morning, Baba!" Touille said,
"Mornin', Touille…" Baba said,
Touille looked at CatNap and Baba and noticed something. He chuckled.
"Well, guess who's pulling a hunk." He said, "You made a lot of love last night?"
Touille laughed a bit as Baba and CatNap looked at each other and shook their heads no.
"Shut ya mouth, Touille." Baba said, "It was sudden, ok?"
"Yeah, all we did was share a kiss and cuddle while we dozed off to sleep." CatNap said, "But we were so tired."
Touille sighed.
"Whatever you say, Baba." He said,
"Whatcha want anyways?" Baba asked him,
"Oh, me, Allister and Poe decided to go out to eat breakfast today. Wanna come along with us?"
"Sure."
"Oh, sure, I'm hungry for more at the diner anyways." CatNap said,
Baba chuckled.
"Well…" She said as she looked down, but then cleared her throat, "Let's get ready then, yeah?"
"Yeah, I need to fix my hair." CatNap said,
"Sounding like a fellow girl."
"I'm emo, Baba."
"Me too."
The new couple shared a laugh. Touille smiled.
"Just wait until you two get back onto the–" He said as was interrupted by Baba slamming the door in his face, "--And there goes my big mouth…"
Later, CatNap was with Baba and her 3 friends as they headed to the same diner he, KickinChicken and Hoppy ate a while ago for breakfast.
"Well, time to get in there and eat some breakfast!" Touille said,
"We haven't even gotten a table yet!" Allister said,
"Yes, have some patience, Touille." Poe said,
"I have patience." Touille said, "Today is not the day to use it."
The group shared a laugh.
While eating breakfast there, a family of purple cat critters looked at CatNap.
"Could that be him?" The father wondered,
"It almost looks like you…" The mother replied,
The parents looked at their daughter.
"Do you want to go meet him once he's done eating breakfast with his friends?" The father asked her,
"Sure." The daughter replied, "I never knew I would meet my big brother for the first time…"
"Just don't tell him right away, ok?" The mother asked her,
"I won't, I promise."
Later after breakfast, CatNap and his allies left the diner to be on their way.
"Well, that was a good breakfast." Poe said as they straightened their glasses,
"So, what's next?" CatNap wondered, "Well, for today."
"Don't know." Baba wondered, "How long are ya expecting to stay with me for?"
"Uhhh, I really don't know… I kinda wanna make a phone call to Trey and–"
"--Excuse me, can we have a moment with one of you?" A voice said,
"Huh?"
The group turned to the family of purple cat critters.
"Oh, hey." CatNap said as he raised an eyebrow, "Hmmm… You two look familiar…"
"Same for you." The father said,
"It's you again!" The daughter said, "I saw you walking into my elementary school a year ago!"
"Oh, that's right." CatNap said, "You waved at me before you went to see your mom."
"My name is KittyNap."
"KittyNap…"
CatNap looked down and sighed.
"Odd." He said,
"What's going on?" Baba wondered,
"I have no clue, Baba…"
"Here, do you wanna come back to our home?" The father asked him,
"I guess…"
"Can I be with him?" Baba asked them,
"Sure." The father replied,
"I suppose we're leaving you two with them, yes?" Poe wondered,
"Supposedly…" Baba replied, "We'll chat with y'all later and see what's going on."
"Alright, bye." Touille said as he, Allister and Poe left,
"Come on, our home isn't far." The mother said, "We have a lot to talk about."
"Oh boy…" CatNap and Baba said,
Later, CatNap, Baba and KittyNap and her parents arrive at the family's home. Inside, the father was browsing through some files kept by him and his wife throughout their marriage.
"We haven't gotten this until KittyNap was born…" He said, "Home Sweet Home gave this to us to let us know that they were raising you. And it was our idea to have one of the nurses take you there for them to take care of you while we take care of KittyNap."
"I have no idea where this is going…" CatNap said, "And yes, I was raised by Home Sweet Home throughout the majority of my childhood, so everything you said was true from my eyes… Even though I had no idea who my parents were."
"Looks like you'll find out, right now." The mother said,
"Right now? What's going on?"
The father then showed CatNap's birth certificate to CatNap. CatNap looked at it.
"Wait a minute…" He said, "Helping Hand Hospital… That's where I was born."
"I was also born in that hospital." KittyNap said,
"So this means that…"
Baba was surprised.
"So these guys are ya family?" She asked them, "These two are ya mom and dad and KittyNap is ya sister?"
CatNap sighed heavily as he gave his supposed father his birth certificate back. He then puts his hands on his head.
"I don't know…" He said, "I don't know what to say… I never saw your faces… I never did… The explosions made it worse…"
"...Why don't we leave you two alone?" CatNap's mother asked him,
"No, I need an answer. If you two are really my parents and if KittyNap is really my younger sister, then how did you two even survive the explosions?"
"The hospital had a bomb shelter." CatNap's father replied,
"Then… Why didn't you take me there? Why didn't the nurse take me there?"
"You were out of the hospital first before us…" CatNap's mother replied, "And as soon as we were gonna go to the bomb shelter to be safe, another explosion went off and blocked the entrance there, so we just braced ourselves…"
"And by lady luck, we survived." CatNap's father said,
CatNap sighed frustratingly.
"This doesn't make any sense…" He said, "I don't know what else to say, really… But…"
KittyNap patted CatNap on his back.
"It's ok…" She said,
CatNap sighed, but this time, he was calming down.
"I'm sorry…" He said, "You thought I would be crying tears of joy, but really, I'm confused and frustrated about where my life is right now…"
"It's ok, CatNap…" CatNap's father said, "We understand your struggle."
"My struggle is worse than you thought. It's a long story."
"Tell us later." CatNap's mother said, "I think you need to calm down."
"Yeah, why don't ya relax right here on the couch?" Baba asked him, "Or, have a chat with ya sister."
"He's frustrated." KittyNap said,
"Oh, I forgot…"
"I'll just relax here…" CatNap said, "Thanks…"
"If you need anything, let us know, CatNap." CatNap's mother said, "We're here for you."
"Ok…"
Later, KittyNap was reading a book when she heard a knock on her door to her bedroom.
"Who is it?" She asked,
"It's CatNap." CatNap replied,
"Oh, come in!"
CatNap entered.
"So, I guess I have a younger sister then." He said, "But a real one, this time."
"What do you mean, this time?" KittyNap wondered,
CatNap sat on KittyNap's bed and next KittyNap.
"I have a friend that I view as a younger sister." He replied to KittyNap, "We're not related, but we share a close bond to the point that we kinda view each other as "spiritual siblings" or something like that. It was her idea, but I basically forgotten about it until now."
"Oh, I see." KittyNap said, "And who was that black sheep critter next to you?"
"Baba Chops. She's my girlfriend."
"Aww, that's sweet."
"Yeah, we've started dating last night. I won't tell you the details, you're still young."
"That's fine."
CatNap then looked at KittyNap's supposed deck of cards.
"Wait, you play Duel Monsters too?" He asked her,
"I do!" KittyNap replied, "I always play with my friends, especially with Robert!"
"Robert? Is his last name BearHug?"
"Yeah, why?"
"...I'm friends with his older sister, Bobby."
"Wow! So the BearHug family and Nap family really are friends!"
"I'm not sure if your parents, or sorry, our parents are even friends with Bobby's parents."
"They are, trust me."
KittyNap winks. CatNap chuckled.
"You're alright." He said, "...By the way, what deck do you play?"
"Wanna find out?" KittyNap asked him, "You have a deck yourself, yes?"
"I do. I always bring it with me just in case if someone challenges me to a duel."
"Well I'm challenging you right now!"
CatNap chuckled again.
"Alright, you're on!" He said,
"To the backyard!" KittyNap said, "I'll let Mom and Dad know that we're playing Duel Monsters!"
"Ok, I'll let Baba know the same thing."
Later, the sun was shining on a summer morning. CatNap and KittyNap were in the backyard as the two supposed siblings were getting ready to duel each other for the first time. Baba and CatNap's parents were out and watching the duel go down.
"Be careful, you two!" CatNap's mother said,
"We will, Mom!" KittyNap said as she turned to CatNap after activating their Duel Disks, "Are you ready, big brother?"
"Heh, I sure am." CatNap replied with a smile, "Let's do this!"
"Duel!" They both shouted to start this duel,
Turn 1
CatNap: 4000
KittyNap: 4000
CatNap looked at his hand and then looked at KittyNap.
"You don't mind if I go first, yesh?" He asked her,
"Sure!" KittyNap replied, "Going second is better for me!"
"Alright."
CatNap then Normal Summoned a monster.
"I'll start by Normal Summoning Aluber The Jester Of Despia in Attack Position!" He said,
Aluber The Jester Of Despia was Normal Summoned in Attack Position with 1800 ATK Points.
"Upon being Normal or Special Summoned, I can add a Branded Spell or Trap from my Deck to my Hand." CatNap said as he does so,
"Ooh, is this a Fusion Deck?" KittyNap asked him,
"Yes, it is."
CatNap then revealed the card he added through Aluber The Jester Of Despia.
"And I'll prove it with the Field Spell, Despia, Theater Of The Branded!" He said as he activated it, "And during my Main Phase, I can Fusion Summon a Level 8 or higher Fusion Monster by using monsters from my Hand or field as materials!"
CatNap then sends Aluber The Jester Of Despia from his field and Dramaturge Of Despia from his hand to his Graveyard both as Fusion Materials.
"Burn yourself under the flames of Despia when you wear a new mask of despair!" CatNap chanted, "Fusion Summon!"
Under orange flames, a dragon emerges wearing a mask after being Fusion Summoned.
"Bring forth despair, Masquerade The Blazing Dragon!" CatNap shouted,
Masquerade The Blazing Dragon was Fusion Summoned in Attack Position with 2500 ATK Points.
"Next Dramaturge Of Despia will activate its effect from my Graveyard!" CatNap said, "When sent there as Fusion Material, I can Special Summon to my field!"
Dramaturge Of Despia was Special Summoned onto the field in Attack Position with 3000 ATK Points.
"Wow, not bad!" KittyNap said, "I wonder how I can stop this…"
"Good luck." CatNap said as he set a card in his Spell and Trap Zone, leaving him with only 2 cards left in his hand, "I'll set a card and end my turn."
KittyNap took a deep breath and drew to start Turn 2. She looked at her hand and smiled.
"Ok, first things first, I gotta get rid of his monsters." She said to herself, "So this will be the perfect card to start off."
KittyNap then played a Spell Card.
"I activate Dark Hole, which destroys all monsters on the field!" She said, "And I don't have any, which is fine!"
KittyNap was then dealt 600 points of damage after activating Dark Hole, leaving her with 3400 Life Points.
"What just happened?" She wondered,
"While Masquerade The Blazing Dragon is on the field after being Fusion Summoned, you must pay 600 Life Points to activate cards or effects."
"Well that's fine! I can still use Dark Hole to destroy your monsters anyways!"
A dark hole appeared in the middle of the field and destroyed CatNap's 2 monsters.
"I activate Despia, Theater Of The Branded's 2nd effect!" CatNap said, "When a non-Fusion Fairy monster gets destroyed, I can Special Summon a Level 8 or higher Fusion Monster back to my field from my Graveyard! So I'm bringing Masquerade!"
Masquerade The Blazing Dragon was brought back onto the field in Attack Position again.
"And unfortunately, its main effect where you must pay 600 Life Points to activate cards or effects doesn't apply to it anymore since it wasn't Fusion Summoned again." CatNap said,
"Good, I won't worry about that while I continue with my turn!" KittyNap said,
"Let's see what you're playing…"
"Here I go!"
KittyNap activates a Continuous Spell.
"I activate the Continuous Spell, Mature Chronicle!" She said,
"Mature Chronicle?" CatNap wondered,
"Yup! I'll tell you what it does right now when I summon this monster!"
KittyNap then Normal Summoned a monster.
"And that monster will be Samsara D Lotus, in Attack Position!" She said,
Samsara D Lotus was Normal Summoned in Attack Position with 0 ATK Points.
"That there is an odd monster." Baba said,
"But nothing happened to Mature Chronicle." CatNap said,
"That's gonna happen right now as I activate Samsara D Lotus's effect!" KittyNap said,
Samsara D Lotus was Tribute Summoned.
"By tributing my Samsara D Lotus, I can Special Summon a Yubel monster from my Deck!"
"Yubel?" CatNap wondered, confused,
"So, coming from my Deck will be this card!"
KittyNap then Special Summoned Spirit Of Yubel in Attack Position with 0 ATK Points.
"Spirit Of Yubel!" She said, "And when she's Special Summoned, I can add to my hand or set a Spell or Trap Card from my Deck that mentions Yubel!"
KittyNap then adds a Continuous Spell called Nightmare Pain under the effect of Spirit Of Yubel. One of Mature Chronicle's symbols lit up.
"And look at that, Mature Chronicle has gained a counter since I Special Summoned a monster that mentions Yubel!" KittyNap said as she then activated Nightmare Pain, "And now for me to activate the Continuous Spell that I just added, Nightmare Pain!"
"What does that do?" CatNap wondered,
"You're gonna find out one of its effects right now, big brother, just watch"
"Ok, I'm watching…"
"Now to activate Nightmare Pain right now, which lets me destroy a DARK monster in my hand or face-up on my field for me to add a Yubel or a card that mentions Yubel from my Deck to my Hand!"
KittyNap then destroyed Yubel in her hand.
"Was that the real Yubel you just destroyed?" CatNap asked her,
"Yup!" KittyNap replied as she added Gruesome Grave Squirmer from her Deck, "But, I won't be using the card I just added, because I can now activate Yubel's effect from my Graveyard!"
"Oh boy…"
"When she's destroyed, the owner of that card can Special Summon this monster from their Deck!"
KittyNap then Special Summoned a more powerful version of Yubel from her Deck in Attack Position with 0 ATK Points.
"Behold, Yubel - Terror Incarnate!" She shouted,
"Woah, able to bring out a more scary version of Yubel?" CatNap said, "But… They both have 0 ATK Points."
"Don't judge a book by its cover, big brother! Battle!"
The Battle Phase started.
"Wait, I don't like where this is going!" CatNap said,
"First, Spirit Of Yubel will attack Masquerade The Blazing Dragon!" KittyNap said,
Spirit Of Yubel went to attack Masquerade The Blazing Dragon, but as soon as Masquerade tried to attack back, Spirit Of Yubel wasn't destroyed as a throne coming out of Nightmare Pain came to attack CatNap, dealing 2500 points of damage to him, draining his Life Points to 1500.
"What just happened?!" CatNap said, shocked,
"Did he just take damage from a monster with 0 ATK Points?!" Baba said, shocked,
"First off, Spirit Of Yubel can't be destroyed by battle and I don't take any battle damage from attacks involving Spirit Of Yubel. Secondly, you take any battle damage involving battles with my Yubel monsters thanks to Nightmare Pain!"
"Ok, that's insane." CatNap said, "I've never seen a Deck that does that before."
"Well you better brace yourself, because Yubel - Terror Incarnate will now attack your Masquerade The Blazing Dragon as well!"
"Oh crap."
"Terrifying Nightmare Pain!"
Yubel - Terror Incarnate then attacked Masquerade, but Masquerade fought back which did nothing since Terror Incarnate couldn't be destroyed. Another throne came out of Nightmare Pain and attacked CatNap, dealing enough damage to drain his Life Points to 0. KittyNap ends up winning the duel. CatNap was on one knee after losing.
"CatNap!" KittyNap said as she went over to get CatNap up, "Are you ok?"
"Yeah… I'm fine…" CatNap replied as he chuckled, "Well, you sure know how to duel."
"Thanks."
"By the way, what made you go with a Deck like Yubel?"
"My parents didn't give me these cards… The cards found me."
"Wait, how?"
"I don't know, they just… Showed up in my room while I was in a bad mood and one of them went and started talking to me. It was Yubel. She told me that everything would be ok and she would be there for me."
"Like a friend?"
"And a guardian angel, believe it or not."
"Hmm… Odd…"
CatNap's parents walked up to their kids.
"Alright, let's head inside." CatNap's father said,
"Yeah, I need to lie down." CatNap said, "Because this day got weird."
Everyone besides CatNap shared a laugh. CatNap chuckled as he went inside first.
"I wonder how DogDay is doing without me…" He said to himself,
