Summer 2001

Nearly five years had passed since Kimberly returned home. After high school, she went to MIT with Tommy. They both had enough college credits from taking AP classes to help them to graduate two years ahead of schedule. They moved on grad school where they met their friend Haley Ziktor. Tommy was doing graduate study and had been working for Anton Mercer. While working for Anton, he met Terrance Smith. Anton only had one position available for a new employee. Tommy was chosen over Terrance Smith. Terance went to work for someone else. During the summer, Tommy had an internship on an island with Anton Mercer. During his internship, Tommy and Anton were planning on working to combine Dinosaur DNA with technology. Tommy was very excited because he was on track for early graduation for his PhD. He was currently scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2002. And the internship will count towards college credits.

Kimberly sat on a bench in the locker room drying off with her favorite pink towel. She had a few minutes before she had to go to the science dome to watch Billy do his experiment. So, this gave her time to read the letter she received from Tommy.

Dear Kimberly,

Everything with my internship is going great. Anton says that I am going above and beyond with my projects. I have already created Tryannodrones. They are foot soilders who will do services for you. I am thinking about donating them to museum. I bet they would be an asset and help give tours. Next on my list is to create Raptor Riders, Dino Morphers, and Biozords. I am really enjoying this internship and I have been promised a position at Mercer Industries.

How are you doing? I hope you have been doing well. I hope your aqua exercise classes are going well. I really miss being there are leading the classes with you. The only thing I hate about this internship is having to be so far from you. I miss you like crazy and I can't wait to see you. Write me when you can.

Unknown to Kimberly, there was a dinosaur like monster watching through a viewing globe. He was pacing around a science lab. He didn't even pay any attention to the broken glass veils on the floor. The tryannodrones were at his side.

"So, Tommy Oliver misses this girl," the creature said. "We can fix that. Tryannodrones, I want to destroy Tommy Oliver and I am going to use his greatest weakness to do it."

The creature opened up a portal and watched as the tryannodrones disappeared. Any minute his master plan would be taking effect.

Kimberly changed into a pink tee shirt and a pair denim capri pants. She had about fifteen minutes to make it to the science dome. After she watched Billy give his presentation, she could write her response to Tommy. As she picked up her stuff, she headed out the door. A portal opened revealing scaly like creatures. They all ganged around her. Two of them grabbed her by both arms.

"Where are you taking me!" Kimberly yelled as they took her through a portal. "Let me go."

Back on the island, Tommy was working on his notes for his raptor riders. The raptor riders would be life like dinosaurs that people could ride on. Once he got hired at Mercer Industries, his goal was to open up a small area for rides. These would be better than pony rides at the fair. And people would actually have an idea about what it would be like to ride a dinosaur.

"SOME BODY HELP ME!" screamed a familiar voice. "PLEASE, HELP ME!"

"Kimberly!" Tommy cried as he shoved his notes into his backpack. He threw is backpack on and ran down the hall. "Where are you!?"

As much as he wanted to see her, he didn't want it like this. There was no way she could have gotten to this island on her own. Someone brought her here. Not, just anyone would bring her here. It had to be someone evil. But, he wasn't a power ranger anymore. All his old enemies where purfied when Zordon's wave took effect. Who could it be?

"Tommy, in here!" Kimberly shouted.

Tommy turned the corner and his own creations had turn on him. Two of his tryannodrones had Kimberly by each arm. He punched one of them and flipped it hard on its back. He kicked to the side. Tommy jumped up and kicked the tryannodrones right in the chest.

"Are you okay?" Tommy asked as he hugged Kimberly tightly.

"I am now," answered.

"Kim how did you get here-"

"-I ordered them to bring her here," answered a cold voice. The creature walked into the room as Kimberly squeezed Tommy's hand. Her eyes widened with fear. And her mouth dropped into an O shape. "I am Mesogog, Tommy Oliver. If you know what is best you will give me the dino gems."

"No," Tommy hissed as he watched Mesogog hit a button. A loud bang filled the room as if every atom in the room was being torn apart. "You can forget about that!"

"Stop him," Mesogog yelled as Tommy and Kimberly broke out in a run.

Tommy wondered where this creature had came from. He wondered if his tryannodrones fathom the fear that he had of being chased. The roof brust in flames as they reached the bottom of the stair case. To escape, his head and heart had to go to the place that was being crushes and without light to bring back a comforting spark. He pushed the door open to find the whole forest was in flames. There was something different about this fire. It was burning like it had a temper, as if it's jumping flames had anger towards him and Kimberly. The air tasted like a bonfire while the horizons were glowing in different shades of orange underneath the smokey winds.

"Tommy, what are we going to?" Kimberly fretted as they got to a cliff.

There was no where else to run to. The tryannodrones were catching up to them. A flame went flying through the air and now the grass was on firing. It was almost in a straight line blocking their path.

"Kim, we're going to have to jump," Tommy answered.

Tommy and Kimberly were both holding on to a long wooden plank in the middle of the ocean. All of Tommy's research was most likely gone. It was either destroyed or Mesogog had stolen it. The worst part was having to watch the island explode right before their eyes. And it sank down into the ocean. Tommy hadn't seen Anton anywhere. He probably didn't make it off the island.

"Tommy, what was those scaly like creatures?" Kimberly asked.

"Those are the tryannodrones that I told you about in my last letter," Tommy explained. "I think Mesogog somehow got them under his control."

Near by was a ship passing them. There were people on deck with binoculars looking for something in particular. Tommy started to wave his hand to get their attention.

"DAD, WE FOUND THEM!"

Three people came out on a life boat to where they were hanging on for dear life. Tommy recognized the three people immediately. One was Carter Grayson the lightspeed red ranger and who was always a firefighter. The girl with blonde shoulder length hair and dressed in a khaki skirt and a pink button shirt was Dana Mitchell. She was the pink lightspeed ranger and also the youngest person to graduate medical school. And the older looking guy was Captain Bill Mitchell.

"What happened to you guys?" Carter asked as they helped them into the boat.

"We honestly doesn't have any idea," Tommy answered truthfully. "One minute everything was peaceful and the next minute, a dinosaur like creature named Mesogog appeared, there was a loud explosion, and then blast of flames started racing all over the place."

Captain Mitchell and the two lightspeed rangers helped Tommy and Kimberly onto the ship. Dana led them into the crew room and gave them some blankets.

"You both are going to medical attention," Dana informed as Tommy and Kimberly huddled together. Both of them were covered in cut, bruises, and even blood. "You must be Kimberly Hart. How did you end up on the island, you are supposed to be dead?"

"WHAT!" Tommy shouted in disbelief. "WHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT?"

"There was another lab explosion," Carter explained as he brought them hot chocolate. "Billy Cranston was presenting a new invention to a group of people yesterday. He was competing against Terrance Smith. Terrance Smith didn't like that Billy was doing better than him. He was doing a lab experiment and mixed two chemicals together. When Terrance's name was called, there was an explosion. Everyone had to evacuate. When they got outside, Smitty and Kimberly were reported missing. The first responders looked everywhere and couldn't find them. They told everyone that Kimberly and Terrance had perished."

"Kimberly, how did you get on the island?" Captain Mitchell asked.

"One minute, I was on my way to the science dome and then I was captured by tryannodrones," Kimberly explained as Tommy wrapped his arm around her. "They took me through a portal and I needed up on the same island as Tommy."

"Carter, contact the other rangers and let them know what happened," instructed Captain Mitchell. "I think it will be a big relief to hear that Kimberly is alive."

Tommy couldn't believe what he had heard about Terrance Smith. All through college he viewed him as a friend. It made him sick to his stomach that Kimberly was brought to the lab and have to run for her life to escape the explosion. But, if that hadn't happened, there was a chance he could have lost her. All of the rangers were still grieving over the loss of Trini.

"Beautiful, I have an important question to ask you," Tommy said as he took hold of her hands. "When I was on the island, you were all I thought about. And when you appeared, all I thought about was getting us both to safety. I truly hate you had to go through this. If you hadn't have been with me, I could have lost my best friend and the most important girl in my life. Will you mary me?"

"Yes, a million times yes," Kimberly beamed as tears ran down her face.

After the two lab explosions, Tommy got a letter in the mail. a He was told that he won't loose any credits. Anton had sent samples of his work and they were really impressed.

Author's note:

We all know the story of the island exploding. But, we were never shown how Tommy was rescued or what happened to Smitty. These were two things that should have occurred. And if Kimberly was in the series, I have no doubt she would have been brought to the island.
