General Wade Eiling was currently in his office, currently torn between two things. The first one was fuming over the fact that West and Gomez had survived the ambush he'd purposefully sent their unit into in order to thin the herd of unnecessary soldiers and to top it all off, in a few days, he'd be heading to Central City to present them with medals of valor for their actions and to honor the memories of their fallen comrades.
But his trip to Central City brought up the other thing on his mind. Central City was quickly gaining a reputation as a heaven for metahumans, or as Eiling preferred to think of them, living weapons. He'd seen the reports for some of the metahumans who'd already surfaced.
A man who could literally turn his skins to steel with super strength, a woman who could turn any object she touched into a bomb, rumors of teleporters and so much more. Prime weapons that were waiting to serve their country.
It was times like this that Eiling wished that President Marsdin hadn't disbanded the ASA, since that organization would've been perfect for this kind of operation, since that's literally what it was created for. Creating metahuman weapons. And Argus was no longer a viable option since Amanda Waller was currently rotting in military prison and Argus had practically been dismantled to be rebuilt by someone who'd never go along with what Eiling wanted to do.
However, he was pulled from his thoughts when suddenly the door to his office burst open and General Sam Lane and Lieutenant Kristen Kramer came in, with a dozen soldiers in tow.
"What's going on?" Eiling asked.
"General Wade Eiling, you're being relieved of duty and placed under military arrest." Sam said as he gestured for his soldiers to put Eiling in handcuffs.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Eiling demanded.
"Did you really think that we wouldn't investigate the ambush that got one of our best units killed. Especially when that unit contained my niece, Corporal Gabriella Gomez?" Kramer asked him, disgust in her voice as she looked at that man who was a disgrace to the uniform he wore.
"That doesn't concern you, Kramer. Or you Sam. And whatever you think you know." Eiling said.
"We have more than enough proof that you conspired with the enemy to send a squadron of soldiers in an ambush. You're a disgrace to the uniform you wear. And now I see plans to abduct innocent people." Sam said as noticed the files on Eiling's desk.
"Not people. Metahumans. The next stage in the arms race and America will win that race. When the next world war is kicked off, we're gonna have an advantage." Eiling insisted.
"You're a monster." Kramer said in shock at his lunacy.
"No Kramer, people like you are what's wrong with the world." Eiling said.
"And what exactly is that supposed to mean? Since I don't think it's a coincidence that one thing every member of my niece's unit had in common is that none of them were white." Kramer said, since she was a native american, her niece was half hispanic, half native american and Iris was black.
Eiling was about to respond, when suddenly his whole body went rigid.
"General?" Sam asked, shocked by this apparent change in attitude, right before Eiling pulled out his gun and started firing, forcing both Sam and Kristin to duck for cover as Eiling then lunged over his desk with agility a man with his size and build shouldn't have been able to been able to move and rushed out.
"How the hell did Eiling do that?" Kramer asked Sam.
"I don't know, but we can't let him leave." Sam said as he got on his radio.
"This is General Lane to all units, lockdown the base, secure all exits and lockdown the garage. No vehicle comes in or out of this base until I give the order. Locate and apprehend Wade Eiling using any means necessary, but he is to be taken in alive. If you have to shoot, shoot to wound or disarm only. Use tranq guns if you have to, but no kill shots." Sam said as the alarms blared.
"I promised Gabby that I'd bring Eiling to justice for what he did to her unit." Kristin said.
"And you will. I promise you there's no way Eiling is getting out of here without a fight." Sam assured her.
"Still, I'm not just standing around to give him the chance." Kramer said as she rushed out of the office.
Eiling continued to run through the base, as if he was in some kind of trance as he made it to the exit of the base, only to find a squad of soldiers waiting for him.
"General Eiling, stand down, this is your only warning. We have orders to bring you in by any means necessary." one of the soldiers said.
"Eiling, not going anywhere with you." Eiling said, like he was possessed.
"Why is he describing himself in the third person?" One of the soldiers asked.
"One of many questions we'll ask him once he's locked up in the brig." the leader said, only for all of them to be knocked to the side by a flash of red lightning that came to a stop to reveal a man in a yellow suit.
"Hello old friend. We've got some catching up to do." Reverse Flash said with a grin, despite the fact that his face was vibrating and no one could see it, before grabbing Eiling and zipping out of there with him in tow.
