Chapter 10: Kijo

After escaping the masked man, Hiro, Genji and Baymax went down to the police station to report their situation. "Alright, let me get this straight. A man in a kabuki mask attacked you and kidnapped your sister with an army of miniature flying robots." The officer at the front desk, Sergeant Gerson, said, acting lazy. "Microbots." Hiro corrected, showing his microbot. "Microbots." Gerson said, typing it in. "He was controlling them telepathically with a neurocranial transmitter." Hiro explained. "The same device my brother here invented for the SFIT Showcase weeks ago before that big fire." Genji added. "So, Mr. Kabuki was using ESP to attack you 2, your sister and balloon man." Gerson said as Baymax took a piece of tape. As he inflated his left arm, 3 holes were punctured in it. He used the one piece to tape the first hole, then he took 2 more to tape the other 2 holes with Hiro, Genji and Gerson staring at him. And then, as he inflated his right arm, 3 more holes were punctured. As he took another piece of tape, Gerson pushed the roll towards him to continue using.

"Did you file a report when your flying robots were stolen?" Gerson asked. "No, we thought they were all destroyed in the fire at SFIT." Genji said. "Look, we know it sounds crazy, but Baymax was there too. Tell him." Hiro said. "Yes, officer. He is telling the truth…" Baymax said as he suddenly started powering down. "What the…what's wrong with you?" Hiro asked. "You have some kind of glitch or something?" Genji asked. "Low battery…" Baymax said, showing a low battery warning on his chest. Gerson just stared as Baymax hiccupped and started laughing. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Try to keep it together." Hiro said, his voice sounding dislodged to Baymax. "I am healthcare, your personal Baymax companion." Baymax said, acting drunk. "Great. A drunken robot with a low battery." Genji said as he and Hiro tried to help Baymax keep steady. "Kids, how about we call your parents and get them down here?" Gerson suggested, not believing what Hiro and Genji said. "What?" Hiro asked. "Are you kidding me?" Genji asked. "Write your names and number down on this piece of paper and then we can…oh?" Gerson said, seeing that Hiro, Genji and Baymax were already gone. But the tape roll was unraveling and pulled right to the door. Just then, the police chief entered and walked up to Gerson, having heard everything. "Something wrong, chief?" Gerson asked. "Sergeant Gerson…you're fired!" The chief said.

"We gotta get you home to your charging station." Hiro said as he and Genji tried to keep Baymax steady. "Yeah. Can you walk, Baymax?" Genji asked. "I will scan you now. Scan complete." Baymax said before drunkenly falling on his butt. "H-H-Healthcare." He hiccupped. "So…how are we getting him home?" Genji asked.

Later, that evening, Hiro, Genji and Baymax returned home, being quiet and careful not to attract attention. "Okay. If our aunt asks, we were at school all day. Got it?" Hiro asked. "Got it." Genji whispered. "We jumped out a window." Baymax said loudly. "No! Quiet! Shh!" Hiro whispered. "We jumped out a window." Baymax said more softly. "You can't say things like that around Aunt Cass." Hiro whispered. "Yeah, she'll flip her wig." Genji whispered. They shushed Baymax, who shushed them back in agreement. As they walked up the stairs, Baymax tried to step up the first step, but fell forward on his head, startling Hiro and Genji. Baymax quickly recovered and shushed himself. "Hiro? Genji? Kaiya? You kids home?" Cass called. "Uh…that's right." Hiro said. "Keep her distracted. I'll help Baymax." Genji whispered. "I thought I heard you. Hi." Cass greeted as she saw Hiro by the stairs. "Hey, Aunt Cass." Hiro greeted back nervously. "Oh, look at my little college man. Ah, I can't wait to hear all about it! But where are Genji and Kaiya?" Cass asked. "Oh! Uh…Genji's doing some homework in the garage and Kaiya…just got…assigned to a dorm room." Hiro lied. "Oh, I see. Oh, and wings are almost ready." Cass said, heading back to check on the chicken wings. "WHEE!" Baymax cheered as he walked up. "Will you be quiet?" Hiro said quietly as he and Genji pushed him out of view. "Yeah, wings! Whee!" Cass cheered as she shook the chicken wings in a bowl. Hiro chuckled awkwardly as he and Genji tried to get Baymax upstairs. "Alright, get ready to have your face melted. We are gonna feel these things tomorrow. You know what I saying?" Cass said as she set the table. Hiro and Genji moved Baymax back and forth to keep him out of Cass' view before shoving him right upstairs. "Okay. Sit down. Tell me everything." Cass said, but saw that Hiro was gone. But then, Hiro came right back down. "Um…the thing is since we registered so late, got a lot of school stuff to catch up on." Hiro said. Just then, there was a thud upstairs. "What was that?" Cass asked. "Mochi. Ooh, that darn cat." Hiro lied. Just then, Mochi walked up and rubbed against Hiro's legs, purring. "At least take a plate for the road, okay? And take one for Genji when he comes in." Cass said as she goes to fix some plates. "Mochi, go upstairs." Hiro whispered. Mochi obeyed and hurried upstairs. "Don't work too hard." Cass said as Hiro walked up and took the plates. "Thanks for understanding." Hiro said before heading upstairs.

Meanwhile, Mochi was in Baymax's arms, purring. "Hairy baby. Hairy baby." Baymax said, petting Mochi's fuzzy body. "Okay, Mochi, it's movie time." Hiro said as he walked up. Mochi immediately took off after hearing the words movie time. "Classic Mochi." Genji chuckled. "Alright, come on." Hiro said as he and Genji helped Baymax to his feet. "I'm healthcare, your personal Baymax companion." Baymax said. "Okay, one foot in front of the other." Genji said as Baymax tried to put his foot inside his charging station. After a few tries, Baymax managed to step into his charging station and started charging his battery. Hiro exhaled as he collapsed onto his bed. Genji sat down beside the bed. Hiro took his microbot out from his pocket and stared at it. "This doesn't make any sense." He said. "I know. Who would want to steal your microbots and kidnap our sister?" Genji asked. "Tadashi." Baymax suddenly said. "What?" Hiro asked as he sat up. "Tadashi." Baymax repeated, looking at Tadashi's bed. Hiro and Genji looked at their late older brother's bed. His old hat was laying on it. "Tadashi's gone." Hiro said sadly as he walked over to the room divider. "When will he return?" Baymax asked. "He's dead, Baymax." Hiro said, moving the divider to close off Tadashi's room. "Tadashi was in excellent health. With a proper diet and exercise, he should have lived a long life." Baymax said as Hiro walked over to his chair. "Yeah, he should have. But there was a fire and…now he's gone." Hiro said. Genji rested his head on his knees. "Tadashi is here." Baymax said. "No. People keep saying he's not really gone as long as we remember him." Hiro said, scoffing as he sat down. "It still hurts though." Genji said. "I see no evidence of physical injury on any of you." Baymax said. "It's a different kind of hurt." Hiro said. "It runs deep within our emotions." Genji said. "You are my patients. I would like to help." Baymax said as he finished charging. "You can't fix this one, buddy." Hiro said.

Just then, Baymax put his hand on Hiro's computer and started downloading something. "Uh, Hiro, Baymax is doing something." Genji said as he noticed. "Uh, what are you doing?" Hiro asked. "I am downloading a database on personal loss. Database downloaded." Baymax said as he finished downloading. "Treatments include contact with friends and loved ones. I am contacting them now." He said, contacting the gang. "No, no, no! I- Don't do that." Hiro said, trying to stop him. "Your friends have been contacted." Baymax said. "Unbelievable." Hiro said in disbelief. "Completely." Genji said. Just then, Baymax brought them both into a hug. "Uh, now what are you doing?" Hiro asked. "Other treatments include compassion and physical reinsurance." Baymax said. "We're fine. Really." Genji assured. "You will both be alright. There, there." Baymax said, patting their heads. "Thanks, Baymax." Hiro said. "Yeah. I guess we really needed this." Genji said. "I am sorry about the fire." Baymax said. "It's okay. It was an accident." Hiro said. But then, Hiro and Genji started thinking as they looked at the microbot. "Unless…Unless it wasn't. At the showcase, the guy in the mask stole my microbots and then set the fire to cover his tracks. He's responsible for Tadashi." Hiro said. "But why would he kidnap Kaiya? What does he want with her?" Genji asked. "I don't know. But we gotta catch that guy." Hiro said. "What're you thinking, bro?" Genji asked. They both looked at Baymax, getting an idea.

Later, they snuck back downstairs, passing by Cass as she was watching a horror movie with Mochi asleep in her arms. Tray and Kash, on the other hand, were cleaning up the dishes. Baymax paused for a second, noticing the horror movie. But before he could walk over, Hiro and Genji grabbed him and pulled him downstairs.

Later, as they set up in the garage, Hiro activated a scanner. "If we're gonna catch that guy, you need some upgrades." He said, scanning Baymax. "Will apprehending the masked man improve your emotional state?" Baymax asked. "Absolutely." Hiro said. "Alright, let's work on your moves." Genji said. He prepared a new data chip and opened a scene of a karate master fighting an army of ninjas. As the fight started, Genji linked Baymax's joints with that of the karate master and started capturing the moves. "Good work, Genji. Now let's take care of this." Hiro said, poking Baymax's huggable body. As he walked off, Baymax poked himself, wondering what Hiro meant. Hiro started looking at pieces of armor and started printing images. He then created them in his 3D printer, filed them out and the outfitted Baymax with the armor. Luckily, it was wide enough to fit his body. "I have some concerns. This armor may undermine my non-threatening, huggable design." Baymax said. "That's kinda the idea, buddy." Hiro said. "He's right. You look sick." Genji said. "I cannot be sick. I am a robot." Baymax said. "It's just an expression." Hiro said. "Data transfer complete." An automated voice said. Hiro rolled his chair over to the computer, took out a red data chip and drew a skull-and-crossbones onto it. He then opened Baymax's compartment, where he stopped for a second as he saw Tadashi's medical chip. "Hey. You okay, Hiro?" Genji asked. "Yeah…I'm okay." Hiro said. With a heavy heart, he inserted the chip and closed the compartment. Baymax examined the properties of his newly downloaded karate moves. "I fail to see how karate makes me a better healthcare companion." He said. "You want to keep us healthy, don't you? Punch this." Hiro said, holding up a wooden board. Baymax got ready and punched the board, breaking it right in half! "Yes! Hammer fist!" Hiro exclaimed. Baymax broke 3 boards sitting on a couple footstools. "Side kick!" Hiro exclaimed. Baymax side kicked a wooden stand. "Knifehand!" Hiro exclaimed. Baymax sliced 3 more boards. "Back kick!" Hiro exclaimed. Baymax kicked another wooden stand "Gummy bears!" Hiro exclaimed. Outside, Baymax pushed a button on a vending machine, ordering a bag of gummy bears. "Yes!" Hiro cheered. "Nice one." Genji said.

Baymax continued practicing his moves. Hiro and Genji walked up and bowed to him, which he bowed back. "Yeah! Fist bump!" Hiro said, holding up his fist. "Fist bump is not in my fighting database." Baymax said. "No, this isn't a fighting thing. It's what people do sometimes when they're excited or pumped up." Hiro said. "We did these with Tadashi all the time." Genji said. Hiro showed Baymax how they did it. First, they slapped each other's hands. Then, they did it with the back hand. And finally, when they did the fist bump, Hiro pulled back and imitated an explosion. "Ba-da-la-la-la-la." Baymax said. "Close enough." Genji said. "Hey, now you're getting it." Hiro said. "I will add fist bump to my caregiving matrix." Baymax said. "Alright. Let's go get that guy." Hiro said, zipping up his hoodie.

Hiro and Genji opened up the garage door. "Come on." Hiro whispered as he and Genji took off with Baymax following. Unknown to them, as they headed the way they went to the warehouse, a car was following them. After a while, they made it to the warehouse. Baymax broke down the door with a side kick. "Get him, Baymax!" Hiro exclaimed. But the warehouse was empty. "We're too late." Hiro said. "He must've relocated." Genji guessed. Suddenly, Hiro's microbot started acting up again. "Your tiny robot is trying to go somewhere." Baymax said. "It must be reacting to the others again." Genji said. "Come on." Hiro said, following the microbot. They followed the microbot into a shipyard filled with shipping containers. Just then, Baymax grabbed Hiro's hoodie before he nearly fell into the ocean. "Always wait one hour after eating before swimming." Baymax said. "Dude, you gotta look where you're going." Genji said. Suddenly, the rattling microbot broke out of the glass case. "Hey!" Hiro exclaimed as the microbot disappeared in the distance. Suddenly, a silhouette appeared in the fog ahead. Hiro and Genji squinted their eyes as the figure was moving closer. "Come on!" Hiro whispered as he, Genji and Baymax took off and hid behind a container before peeking out. But it wasn't the man with the kabuki mask from before. Instead, it was a young girl in a black kimono, her hair tied in an elegant bun with a golden hairpin decorated with some cherry blossom flowers, and a demon mask controlling the microbots. As she reached the shipyard, she controlled the microbots and pulled up a piece of machinery, bearing the same sparrow symbol from the beautiful mind board in the warehouse. "That's the same symbol we found earlier. And she must be working with him." Genji whispered. "Your heartrate as increased dramatic-" Baymax tried to say. "Shh! Okay, Baymax, time to use those upgrades." Hiro whispered. Baymax raised his hands as Hiro and Genji prepared to announce themselves.

Suddenly, they were flashed by headlights, making Hiro and Genji gasp. The car that was following them approached them. Just then, as the car turned off, the doors opened to reveal the gang. "Hiro? Genji?" They said. "Oh, no." Genji groaned. "No, no, no! Get out of here! Go!" Hiro exclaimed. "Dude, what are you doing out here?" Wasabi asked. "Nothing. Just out for a walk." Hiro stammered. "At this time of night?" Hornet asked. "Uh, yeah. Helps with our…pubescent mood swings." Hiro said. "Pubescent what now?" Seer Shot asked in confusion. "It means they hit puberty." Metanite said. "Is that Baymax?" Wasabi asked as Gogo walked up. "Yeah, but you really-" Hiro tried to say. "Uh…why is wearing carbon fiber underpants?" Gogo asked. "I also know karate." Baymax said. "And where's Kaiya?" Hornet asked. "You guys need to go." Hiro said with worry. "No, don't push us away, Hiro. We're here for you. That's why Baymax contacted us." Honey Lemon said. "Oui, but it is hard to be supportive without Kaiya here. What happened to her?" Proud Dagger asked. "Those who suffer a loss require support from friends and loved ones." Baymax said. "Okay, but we…" Hiro tried to say. "That's fine, but we…" Genji tried to say. "Who would like to share their feelings first?" Baymax asked. "Ooh. I'll go." Fred said. "This should be good." Seer Shot said. "Okay. My name is Fred and it has been 30 days since my last…holy mother of Megazon!" Fred exclaimed as he looked up. The others looked up and saw the kimono demon girl lifting up a container with her microbots. "Am I the only one seeing this?" Fred asked. "Unfortunately, not." Hornet said. Honey Lemon took a picture with her phone. The kimono demon girl winced at the flash and proceeded to crush them. Wasabi started screaming like a little girl. "Oh my God! Oh no!" He screamed. "Uh, dude?" Metanite said. Wasabi noticed that Baymax had caught the container. "Go!" Hiro exclaimed. The gang made a run for Wasabi's car. "Baymax, get her!" Hiro exclaimed before Gogo and Seer Shot came back and grabbed him and Genji. "No, no, no, no, no! What're you doing?!" Hiro asked. "We're saving your lives." Gogo said as she and Seer Shot shoved Hiro and Genji into the car. "Baymax can handle this girl!" Hiro exclaimed. Suddenly, they saw Baymax flying through the air until he landed on the car roof. "Oh no." Baymax said as the rear mirror fell off. "Yeah, you know, I'm starting to doubt that he can handle her." Genji said. Just then, the kimono demon girl appeared and readied her microbots to attack. "Wasabi." Honey Lemon said with worry. "Ah, goodbye!" Wasabi cried, driving away in reverse.

"Hiro. Genji. Explanation. Now." Gogo said. "There's this guy wearing a kabuki mask. He stole my microbots. He started the fire. He kidnapped Kaiya. And I don't know who he is or her." Hiro explained. Just then, the kimono demon girl started to attack. "Baymax, palm-heel strike!" Hiro exclaimed. Baymax struck the microbots with the ordered move, turning the car around. The kimono demon girl chased after them, riding the microbots. Baymax turned his head around and watched the kimono demon girl chasing them. "Hard left!" Gogo exclaimed. Wasabi turned hard left and continued driving down the street. As the kimono demon girl continued to chase them, she leapt over an overpass and landed back on her microbots. "That mask, the black kimono…we're under attack from a super villainess, people! I mean, how cool is that? I mean, it's scary, obviously. But how cool! And judging from the demon mask, I think we should call her…Kijo!" Fred said excitedly. "You're enjoying this way too much." Seer Shot said. "Eh, just a little." Fred admitted. Suddenly, Wasabi slammed on the brakes and screeched to a stop. "Why are we stopped?" Gogo asked. "Yeah, what's the deal, Wasabi?" Metanite asked. "The light's red!" Wasabi exclaimed, gesturing to the traffic light. "THERE ARE NO RED LIGHTS IN A CAR CHASE!" Gogo shrieked. As the light turned green, Wasabi continued driving as the kimono demon girl, now apparently called Kijo, continued chasing them. "Why is she trying to kill us? Um, why are you trying to kill us?" Wasabi asked to the kimono demon girl through his window before looking back at the street as he drove faster. "It's classic villain. We've seen too much!" Fred exclaimed. "This time, he has a point. When somebody sees too much of whatever we're not supposed to see, the bad guys always try to kill them!" Seer Shot explained. "Let's not jump to conclusions. We don't know she's trying to kill us." Honey Lemon said, trying to ease the tension. "CAR!" Fred exclaimed as Kijo used her microbots and threw a car. "SHE'S TRYING TO KILL US!" Honey Lemon shrieked. "Sacré bleu!" Proud Dagger exclaimed as the car landed. Just then, Wasabi put his blinker on. "Did you just put your blinker on?" Gogo asked. "Why would you do that?! We're about to get killed!" Hornet exclaimed. "You have to indicate your turn! It's the law!" Wasabi exclaimed. "That's…it!" Gogo said. She took her gum out of her mouth, stuck it on the dashboard, moved Wasabi's seat back and took control of the wheel, going at high speed. As Kijo got in front of them, Gogo turned hard right, going up road and accidentally scratching the car in the process. Suddenly, as she turned right, Kijo got in front of them again. Gogo used the hand brake and skidded until she hit a bump, which helped leap over Kijo's microbot wall and land onto another street.

"Whoa. You…are amazing." Hiro said in awe. "Uh…Thanks." Gogo said, blushing a bit. "Stop the car! Baymax, Hiro and I can handle this girl." Genji said, moving up to the passenger seat. But then, Kijo's microbots tore off the door, causing him to fall out. "Genji!" Hiro cried. But before Genji's face could touch the street, something grabbed him. He looked up and saw Baymax holding his arm. Baymax pulled him back in and buckled his seatbelt. "Seatbelts save lives. Buckle up, every time." He said. As Kijo continued chasing them, they drove towards a train track…with an incoming train! "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! What're you doing?! What're you doing?! What're you doing?! What're you doing?!" Wasabi exclaimed in a panic. Gogo used the hand brake and slid across the tracks before the gates closed. As they continued driving, Hiro and Genji saw Kijo on the other side of the train, staring at them. Gogo turned a corner, back close to the shipyard. "Did we lose her?" Honey Lemon asked. "I don't see her anywhere." Hornet said. "LOOK OUT!" Wasabi screamed as Kijo's microbots caught them and trapped them in a microbot tunnel. As the tunnel continued forming, they saw that the exit was closing fast as it was forming. "Baymax, hold on!" Hiro said. Baymax held on as Gogo continued driving. "We're not gonna make it!" Wasabi said with worry. "We're gonna make it!" Honey Lemon said. "We're not gonna make it!" Wasabi cried. "We're gonna make it!" Honey Lemon exclaimed. "WE'RE NOT GONNA MAKE IT!" Wasabi shrieked. "We're gonna make it!" Honey Lemon shouted as the microbots sealed the exit. But the car burst through them and escaped. "We made it! Yes!" Wasabi cheered. "WATER!" Hornet shrieked. Gogo slammed on the brakes as they were heading towards the pier. But the car drove off the pier and fell into the water. As they sank into the depths, Kijo gazed down at the water, thinking that they were dead before leaving.

The gang held their breath as the car completely filled with water before reaching the bottom. Genji struggled to undo his seatbelt. Suddenly, Baymax's armor started coming off and dropping to the bottom. Baymax had stripped off his own armor and inflated himself with the gang in his arms, floating back up to the surface. The gang breathed heavily after they broke through to the surface. "I told you we'd make it!" Honey Lemon cheered. "Honey Lemon…shut up!" Metanite exclaimed. "Your injuries require my attention. And your body temperatures are low." Baymax said. "We should get out of here." Hiro said. "But where do we go?" Genji asked. "I know a place." Fred said, knowing where to go.

Wow! Was that intense or what?! After failing to convince the police about Kaiya's kidnapping, Hiro and Genji realize that the fire that killed Tadashi was no accident and upgrade Baymax with carbon fiber armor and a new data chip containing karate. After arriving at the now empty warehouse, they followed Hiro's one microbot to the docks, where a new villain, a kimono demon girl named Kijo, was carrying a strange machine. But then, as the rest of the gang arrived, Kijo spotted them and chased them through the streets. But after they drove into the water, Kijo left. But they survived after Baymax dismantled his own armor and floated them to the surface. But where is Fred going to take his friends? Who is Kijo under her mask? Leave a review if you want.
