Ep 77: Compliance of Dwell.
977.M30.
The fleet of Roboute Guilliman is travelling inside of the void, searching planets to conquer.
He is not alone this time; he is accompanied by his two grandchildren, now both aged at 28 years old. Cornelia and Schneizel von Imperium but still the Guilliman grandchildren.
First, Cornelia Guilliman has her hair tied in a half up-half down crown-braid with two strands framing her face. Her lips have a magenta lipstick. Her outfit is like the one she wore in her childhood but now more elaborated.
Secondly, there is Schneizel Guilliman, the elegant blonde man is still dressed in royal tunic that he wears from before but now adapted to his new high.
Roboute Guilliman is in his private apartments with Schneizel and Cornelia. He was playing the game of chess. Cornelia on her side was drinking tea.
"So, it said by the world is inhabited by the settlers of Molech, right?" Schneizel asked.
"Absolutely… From what they say on Molech in the Dark Age of Technology, they had enough of the Knight houses bossing them around. Instead of a revolt, these exiled themselves to found their ideal society. From the testimony of the archivists of Molech. The location is somewhere inside of this tiny space." Roboute Guilliman explained before pointing the holo-map on the side.
"Hm… We have saw already that their technology is clearly quite advanced compared to the rest of the Imperium. So, we will see what we will have." Schneizel said.
"Even if we have Adoria…" Cornelia said.
"Of course, we have Adoria, sister. But we cannot depend on them as always. After all, the Mobile Suit that mother offered to you, Prosperitymar is a unique model." Shneizel said before pushing his queen, cornering the king of his grandfather.
Cornelia responded with mild irritated "hmph".
"Checkmate, grandfather." Schneizel said.
"Hm… good game." Roboute said.
At this moment, a knock is heard on the door of the apartment.
"Enter…" Roboute said.
The door opened, revealing an Ultramarine.
"The First Master Marius Gage want to see you." The Ultramarine said.
"I am coming." Roboute Guilliman said.
The trio rose up from their seat and exited the room.
After a moment, they arrived inside of the bridge. Marius Gage is present, this is a marine who has very short hair with a small eagle symbol attached on its forehead, above his right eye.
"What is happening?" Roboute Guilliman asked.
"We are facing a new planet. And look, my lord." Marius Gage said.
The planet that they are facing on the night side, has numerous lights on it. Signalling the presence of life on it. Also, there are vessels all around and coming to them.
"Now, we can contact them." Roboute said.
The first contact has been made with the Dwellians, and those to the surprise of the group. They seem to be aware of the arrival of the Great Crusade. After all, they explained that some Molechians refugees of the conquest of Molech has arrived decades before and told them about the Imperium.
"They want to negotiate their surrender." The interpret said.
"We'll go on the planet, under a good escort." Roboute Guilliman said.
"Hm… I am curious from what they have. I want to see from my own eyes." Cornelia said.
"You would scare them with flying inside of Prosperitymar, my sister." Schneizel responded.
"I didn't think of that, what are do you think of me?" Cornelia asked with an eyebrow.
"You are quite demonstrative. That's all." Schneizel said.
They exited the bridge to go in the barge part of the Macragge's Honour and take a barge and goes to the planet.
After a small travel toward the surface, they arrived inside of the capital city.
The trio is impressed by the construction of the capital. It's a very refined and well made, reflecting the neo-classical style of the Molechians.
As they arrived, on the city huge spaceport. As the barges posed and the door opened. Roboute Guilliman and his two grandchildren sees the notables of the city. In front of them, there are one old bald man who wears rich clothes.
"Hello, I want to see the monarch of this planet." Roboute Guilliman said.
The interpret do his job to the man in question. The man talked in the Molechian language, that the interpret listen before turning back to the Primarch.
"He said that he is the one who directs the planet. He is the Great Sovereign of Dwell. His name is Dwellianon, the 134th. And he wants to see you in private, alone." The interpret said.
"Really?" Roboute Guilliman asked.
"Absolutely… Secrecy is law in this planet." The interpret said.
"I see… Schneizel, Cornelia. Visit the town while I meet the Sovereign." Roboute Guilliman said.
A small grunt comes from the mouth of Cornelia.
"You will discover more things on your own." Roboute Guilliman said.
"I hope so…" Cornelia said.
Schneizel grinned.
"Don't be so disgusted. It is time to learn more about the Dwellians. Also, I think by presenting our force to the people will make them impress and admire us." Schneizel said.
"Hm… So, you are changing your mind about Prosperitymar?" Cornelia asked with an eyebrow lifted.
"I am changing my mind depending on the events, my dear sister. This is how we rule." Schneizel said.
"As always…" Cornelia said.
And so, they separated themselves from their grandfather, engaging inside of the town, along with their own interpret.
Cornelia engaged inside of the city in question, accompanied by her own interpret and a small group of Ultramarines.
"You will see a lot of dishes that will be served to you, your highness." The interpret said.
"I see…" Cornelia said.
After walking inside of the city, Cornelia arrived inside of a small restaurant of the city, the Space Marines stayed in the outside.
As the interpret showed the dishes to Cornelia, she chooses one of them.
"I am asking myself what these special about this world. I can feel it right now that something is hidden from us." Cornelia said.
After a few days, Cornelia and Schneizel are meeting each other in the spare hotel apartment for them.
"So, what you have discovered, dear sister?" Schneizel asked.
"Apparently, they accept that we go everywhere in their city except the libraries of the city, they are clearly against this idea." Cornelia said.
"Hmph… that's weird. But I have a small plan." Schneizel said.
"What plan?" his sister asked.
The brother gives a smirk to his sister.
"See, my dear sister. A few months earlier, we have visited our old grandmother, right?" Schneizel asked.
"Yes…" Cornelia said.
"I beat her in the chess game and I asked her to teach me a magic arcane for me." Schneizel said.
"What kind of arcane?" Cornelia asked.
"Let me show you." Schneizel said.
He waves his hand to him, appearing a magic circle in his palm and in one instant, he disappears from view, surprising Cornelia.
"What the…?!" Cornelia exclaimed.
"See, sister? She has taught me an illusion magic so powerful that it falsifies the view of reality from humans eyes to cameras." Schneizel said.
He reappears but he was completely different, resembling a bearded man in his 40s, still dressed in his princely clothes.
"Oh!" Cornelia exclaimed again.
"Now, this is my plan. I will go inside of these libraries and see what is happening inside of these places." Schneizel said.
The silence falls inside of the bedroom.
"You are taking huge risks. And it could ruin the negotiations." Cornelia said.
"Yes, but you know me. We have to earn knowledge to better take decisions." Schneizel replied while stopping the magic arcane.
"Hmph… this isn't what our grandfather taught us I remind you. The methods of our grandmother are unfit that we are supposed to embody." Cornelia said.
"We have to find what they are hiding. Because we cannot always trust the population that we conquer. If they hide something, it's because they have ulterior motives." Schneizel said.
"Hm… I see, but it still pretty dangerous for you. Don't count on me if you are discovered." Cornelia said.
"Who said that I will be the one who will go?" Schneizel asked.
Cornelia lifted her eyebrow in surprise.
"What? What do you mean." Cornelia said.
"You will see…" Schneizel said.
The next day, Schneizel is facing an Inquisitor dressed in civil clothes. Cornelia was simply observing.
"Inquisitor Jariu. You will search inside of the Planetary Library of the capital. Anything of value can be discovered." Schneizel said.
"How we will do, my prince?" the Inquisitor asked.
"Stay here…" Schneizel said.
He extended his palm to the Inquisitor and used the magic arcane, the Inquisitor becomes completely invisible.
"Oh… I can see myself transparent." the Inquisitor said.
"It's to make sure that you won't lose yourself in sight. And every object that you will touch will be affected by this too…" Schneizel said.
He gives a mic and a portable camera that disappears in the hands of the Inquisitor.
"There… I am wearing it." The Inquisitor voice said.
"Good, now. You will discover what happens inside of these libraries." Schneizel said.
"Now, I am going…" The Inquisitor voice said. Footsteps could be heard in the room, then the room opened itself and closed behind.
The silence stays for a moment, until Cornelia breaks it.
"I am asking myself one thing. It's that the Inquisitors of grandmother are using to spy on Imperium adversaries?" The sister said.
"From what she has explained to me. It's just one of their tactics." Cornelia said.
Cornelia is baffled by this revelation.
"Okay…" Cornelia said.
A few moments later, Schneizel is seeing on the recording that the Inquisitor enters the library, without being detected.
The building in itself is gigantic in size, making almost one kilometer in length while making ten floors.
The Inquisitor engaged inside of the building, avoiding the guards while being completely invisible.
After a long march later, he is in front of a fortified door, but he has no access to it.
"Hm… what I am to do?" the Inquisitor whispered in his mic.
"Wait for someone to enter." Schneizel said.
After a moment, one of the employees takes out his card and uses it to open the door. The employee in question was dressed in a priest-like purple outfit. The Inquisitor enters it rapidly and managed to go in the other side.
It was stairs going deep underground, that the Inquisitor engaged on it.
As he arrived on it, he was shocked of what he has discovered.
It was some kind of esoteric technology linked to big servers, all linked to a giant tube of pure energy who was coursing on the ceiling. The employees were verifying something on screens of the server.
The Inquisitor goes toward to a part where these employees doesn't go often. He faces one of the screens.
It displayed some kind of vision about people, from a first-person view, it was a child playing with other children. Then, in another screen, it was someone cutting fruits in a kitchen, also in first person. And other mundane things like that. But all of these screens finished in a few instants by the same kind, in a death who was either peaceful or violent, still in first-person.
Cornelia is completely baffled by this vision while Schneizel was more on the fascinated side.
"What… Wha… What it this?" Cornelia asked.
"Hm… it seems to be a technology about safeguarding the memories of the dead. Only judging the many the first-person views of all of these screens and the dead in the end." Schneizel said.
"I see… They don't want us to know what about this technology, why?" Cornelia said.
"If my suspicions are true. They want to keep an advantage about their secrets. After all, if they lose a technology or an important historical fact. They can still ask the dead by watching them by these screens." Schneizel said.
"What do we do about it?" Cornelia asked.
"Hmph… For now, we will lay low. We will give this information to the Inquisition and they will do what they will do. They know what they are doing. The people here have just to be get used to our present and their gates will open by themselves." Schneizel said.
"It would take a long time." Cornelia said.
"This wait will be worth it." Schneizel said.
A long time later, they are facing the Inquisitor who has recovered his visible appearance.
"You will communicate what we have just witnessed to the Inquisition. Terra has to know what is happening." Schneizel said.
"Of course, my prince." The Inquisitor responded, taking the registering plug and put it in a hidden pocket before exiting the room.
Now that the twins are alone.
"Hmph… now, let's just profit of this place, Cornelia." Schneizel said.
"If you say so…" Cornelia responded.
The next day, Roboute Guilliman was in front of the barge along with Cornelia and Schneizel.
"Thanks again for this agreement. May your world partake great relations with the Imperium." Roboute Guilliman said to the Sovereign.
The trio climbs back on the barge, accompanied by the Ultramarines. Then, they left the ground.
"I have to say grandfather. Some worlds are truly infringing, Dwell is clearly one of them." Schneizel said.
"I have to agree. The Molechians in general are quite… mysterious." Roboute Guilliman said.
"What do you mean?" Cornelia asked.
"Outside of their mastery of technology who is quite impressive, I cannot shake off this feeling that they are hiding more than they want to reveal. I know that everyone has their secrets for their own survival but here… it's particular. And I don't know why." Roboute Guilliman said.
"Why?" Schneizel asked.
"Because I have learned that Horus, Lion, Fulgrim and Jaghatai didn't seem to have a lot of memories from this place. The campaign of Compliance was fine but then, they all said to me they have forgotten something, something very important but they cannot know why, even the Emperor didn't seem to respond to my claims." Roboute Guilliman explained.
"Really?" Cornelia asked.
"Absolutely, my little theory it's that the Molechians in general are hiding well their game. So, be careful while being close to them." Roboute Guilliman said.
"Of course…" Schneizel said.
"We'll see it through." Cornelia responded too.
A few weeks later, inside of the apartments of the Empress. She has viewed the transcript of the discovery that she has received from her Inquisition.
"Hm… I should have expected that among untold billions of human beings. At least some of them can make truly marvellous things. I am proud of my little descendants…" Salem commented.
She turned then to a folder with the name 'Molech' on it that is opened on a table, marked by the sign of the Alpha Legion.
Inside of it, there are scriptures coming from Molech, with many photos of caves, including a last one displaying a giant vertical hole carved in the rock. It conduces to giant glowing tunnel who deformed further and further in the inside.
Her face darkened a little.
"Hiding things from me and my children is useless, my dear husband. After all, we have a same enemy in the end. I hope you will understand one day." Salem simply said.
To be continued… The Beast of Possibility.
Kira Saito is leading for the colonisation of the world of Belam, a new world for the Adorians. But the Kabal Bernutzar has other ideas in mind.
