Chapter 3

He woke up from the heat sizzling on his scales. When he opened his eyes, he was greeted by flowing lava only a few meters away and chains on his limbs and wings.

"Did you think that you would get out of this unscathed?" came the voice of Queen Narwhal.

"You're starting to remind me of my father... I think we both know what happened to him, don't we?" Snowblade told her.

"I do know what happened to him, unfortunately for you, the same will not happen to me," Queen Narwhalsaid.

"We had to get permission from the FlareWing royals to do this, the least you could do when we start is scream... Just letting you know," King Tundra told Snowblade.

"What? To chain me up next to the lava? Very good thing to get permission for," Snowblade said sarcastically.

Snowblade finally felt like turning to see the faces of the BlizzardWing king and queen, but he also saw at least five FlareWings looking as menacing as dragonly possible.

"Nice intimidation tactic, are you trying to get information out of me or something?" Snowblade asked.

Queen Sahara stepped forward from behind the FlareWings. "Actually, I had the brilliant idea of torturing you until you give us a method of permanently killing you," she explained.

Snowblade thought for a moment, he knew the way. "There is one possible method of killing me... and even if you decide to do it... it most likely wouldn't even work," Snowblade explained.

Queen Sahara looked disappointed that Snowblade was giving them the information before actually torturing him. "Enlighten us," she sighed.

Snowblade pointed east. "Good luck even getting her to agree to it though, I'd imagine that there was a reason she cast the spell in the first place," he said.

Queen Sahara signaled something to the FlareWings, and they melted the chains then threw Snowblade into the lava, they must have been charging their scales before he'd woken up, because their scales burnt Snowblade's, he gave a high-pitched scream as they did it.

The lava was somehow even worse, with the excessive heat melting Snowblade's scales, he couldn't use his frostbreath to make the pain easier on himself.

The bindings on his wings still stayed, making it impossible to fly out and to safety.

He still flailed his arms and wings, screaming as he did it, trying to grab any surface to climb out.

The pain was too much though, he gave in eventually, his consciousness fading to black from the heat, and he allowed himself to drift into pain-induced sleep.

He was back in the Blizzard Palace, but he was young, he was his twelve-year-old self again. He walked into the dungeon where his father had imprisoned that BlizzardWing a few days ago.

A small voice came from the farthest cell. "Hello? Who's there?" it asked, it sounded weak, probably from his father starving the prisoner before killing him. Typical.

"Just me," Snowblade called to the prisoner. There was one reason that he decided to make a visit to the dungeon today, and he'd fulfill that purpose.

"...Prince Snowblade?" the prisoner asked.

Snowblade took a glance at Icetalon, he looked incredibly thin, King Frost was definitely starving the poor dragon.

He opened the drawers in search of an item. "If this is about the poison, I didn't do it, I swear," Icetalon pleaded.

"Don't worry... I know you're innocent, I came to free you," Snowblade said absentmindedly.

"Oh- Oh, thank you, do you know who is trying to assassinate the king?" Icetalon asked.

Snowblade only looked at Icetalon for a few moments with an expression that said: "If I'm freeing you, that must mean I do know, right?" before returning to looking for the key.

As clichés would have it, the key was in the final drawer that he opened.

Turning the key in the lock, Icetalon looked incredibly relieved that he wouldn't die for something he didn't do. "Fly as far away from here as possible, I'll come find you- wherever you are- and tell you that it's safe to come home," Snowblade told him just before the door opened.

Icetalon ran as fast as his legs would take him, out of the palace was his goal, that saved an innocent dragon from dying in a few days, but that didn't mean a dragon wouldn't still die.

When he finally drifted to shore, he could feel sand on his talons, Snowblade slowly opened his eyes and tried to stand up, but his legs wouldn't let him. Great, stranded on an island with not a single dragon around for miles, I'll just take a nap and explore when I wake up again. He looked up, but his burned neck restricted his movement, but he saw ice, not a very good sign.

Author's Note: I lied, these are still going to be around.

So now we have seen Snowblade be decapitated, and tortured, what's next for this poor dragon?

So... Icetalon is innocent, that's the truth, and Snowblade knows the identity of the real culprit, what's he gonna do about it though? Will he catch the assassin and show him to Frost, or will he kill the assassin himself? And in case you haven't figured it out yet, there will be more flashback sequences, but VERY FEW, only like 2 or 3 in total.

So Snowblade sees ice, wouldn't that mean that he made his way back to the Blizzard Kingdom? We'll have to see in Chapter 4!
