This is the account of the revived/cured soldier that was successfully operated on by 049 and 789XP. It focuses on his dream which, according to a conversation 049 had with 789XP, was focused on 049's anomalous effects manifesting.
The area was extremely drab and desolate, with the sky being gray with clouds and the stench of death around every corner. I was there, standing in a bit of manure as I saw a sight that made me so confused. A regular man who was holding onto a 1-year-old girl, him having his mask on, but I could see that it was an actual mask... but the pose and stance were unmistakable, along with the voice that came from him.
"I promise you, sweet Maladie, I will protect you from the plague," he said. It was most certainly 049, only he was not an SCP at this time! I realized I must have been seeing him in his past, before he'd become the Plague Doctor he is today!
But then, I saw a person appear from behind him, also wearing a Plague Doctor Mask, but his was blood red and he proceeded to speak a curse onto the duo with a short breath of a voice, so the duo could not hear him. After this, the child then started to cry as the doctor proceeded to try and calm her before he then started to hold his head with one hand.
"Augh... what's... what's going on?..." he asked in concern as the doctor with the blood-red mask grabbed the child from 049's hands and the doctor then gasped. "Maladie! Augh!... Give her back this instant!" he shouted in distress.
"Apologies, but that's not possible. You've given me enough trouble, rival. Now I will make a new Pestilence... and this child of yours will produce all of it," he said, which 049 then tried to go forward towards him, but he seemed to get in pain as he moved.
"What... have you done to us?... I see her body transforming... it's riddled with some kind of illness..." he growled as the red-beaked doctor began to laugh before he then proceeded to use some form of sorcery to teleport the child away elsewhere! He then smiled as he then showed the doctor a vision... that the daughter would eventually become the ground zero patient for a dreaded Pestilence, one that would never be found by 049, but one he'd always be haunted by. Both in trying to find a cure and that he'd try to cure anyone he saw that had it. And the appearance of the woman in the future?
Her appearance, Maladie, had grown to be that of the form of a 29-year-old woman, but her being completely unaware of both her own identity, but also that she was forever young. And nobody else around her seemed to question this either. Her whereabouts were also revealed in this vision... she apparently existed just 2 towns away from Site 37, in a small Canadian town that lived a quiet, uneventful life.
After this vision of what would happen to 049, which he never got to see what Maladie became, he proceeded to grab a surgical needle and stabbed it right through the chest of the opposing doctor, which resulted in his heart being punctured and for him to gag to death after.
"I... I feel... so wrong... I sense a new disease..." 049 said... but this time? He wasn't speaking with his mouth. Now he had his beak fused to his body, same with his clothes becoming part of his skin. He was now fully converted into the SCP of today... the only issue? He had no idea that anything was amiss. He'd forgotten everything about his old life... he then looked at the man on the ground that he'd killed and gasped. "The Pestilence was in you... I'll operate... hopefully this will cure you," he frowned as he then proceeded to do his operation skills... and I saw that his original form of this operation was even worse than that of today. It simply had the guy turn to dust after. The doctor sobbed after.
"I must find out what is going on..." And with that, he got his bag, his needle, and proceeded down the road to the nearest town.
After hearing this entire story, I gawked at hearing it... it was all as 049 told me, just with some added parts, such as the name of the child being revealed and that the identity and location of Maladie was revealed. After realizing this, I nodded after.
"I see... so... that means that we can find her right away and have father meet daughter?" I asked, which made the duo of doctors look at me in surprise.
"Are you insane? You're wanting 049 to go into public?!" Doctor Harper asked, me shaking my head at that.
"That's not what I was planning on. I have a different idea. We know where Maladie is as of right now, we just need to go into the records of this Canadian town, find out what her current identity is, have me confirm it is, indeed, her, from both mine and our soldier friend can desribe as, and we can go find her, contain her as a POI, and bring her to this location while 049 is around," I explained, which the trio then looked at each other and then at me.
"That's... actually a very good plan. Much like how we would do it," Doctor Carver smirked. "Let's find her effective immediately!"
After this, the plan went forward without a hitch. Maladie was discovered to be under the surname of Hailey Denise, which the teams then found her and arrested her as an undercover sting operation and brought her to the site in order to meet 049. After this, we escorted 049 just outside of the facility to the bare snow, which he looked at with a sigh.
"It's so nice to feel this cold snow... however, I can sense it... the source of the Pestilence... is it nearby?" he asked, me nodding.
"We found her. And she's being driven here as we speak," I said, that making 049 gasp audibly. "I felt that it would only be right that father meet daughter after centuries of being apart," I said, him then holding his temple with his fingers.
"Urgh... I... recall that... patient zero... the Pestilence... n-name... w-what was it?..." he asked before the cart came around and the woman then exited with help from guards that were in full hazmat suits. And she was escorted towards 049 with handcuffs and a M95 grade face mask. And when 049 saw her? He gasped as he and the woman looked at each other... and the woman's eyes went wide when she saw him.
"You... I feel I should know you... I can't remember..." Maladie said, her blue eyes behind the brown hair going wide and getting a twinkle within them.
"I... remember now... I recall everything... Maladie... he cursed you... to be patient zero..." he said as he then walked forward and he was halted by a guard holding a gun at him.
"Easy! Easy, bud. Just... let's see what happens, okay?" I said, the guard looking at me with a frown.
"Not your call, kid," the guard frowned.
"Any negative repercussions that come from it will all be on me... just let them touch... maybe something good could happen," I said, the guard still holding his position until Doctor Harper spoke up.
"T1, listen to him. I have a good feeling about this," she said, the guard finally letting up as 049 then spoke.
"I thank you... now... the Pestilence will be gone... and we can finally be at peace," the SCP smiled as he then slowly approached Maladie and she winced at him approaching before the duo then hugged each other. And after, both began to snivel and cry slightly.
"Daddy... I missed you so much..." she cried.
"I know, hon... I missed you too..." 049 sobbed as we then saw a slight bit of lights emerging from the daughter.
"I can finally be at peace... after all of this time... I've been searching for centuries... I can finally be with mommy again..." Maladie sobbed as 049 spoke.
"Tell her that I'll meet with you soon... only once the Pestilence's spread has stopped completely... I recall that, when spoken to by the villain... that I would not be freed until all of this Pestilence was eradicated... you may be cured, but the Pestilence will remain for a few years at the least, until time catches up with the disease... as it has with us," he sighed.
"I'll wait for you, daddy... I'll see you soon... I love you..." Maladie sobbed before then evaporating into a bunch of light particles and disappearing to who-knew-where. And after this, a good chunk of the soldiers and the scientists overseeing this were sobbing as well.
"That... that was beautiful..." Doctor Harper sniffed as 049 nodded solemnly.
"Over time, the Pestilence will eventually die off completely, now that Maladie is finally cured and put to rest... I am more than willing to simply live the rest of my life among your containment protocols. Just know that, one day, when the Pestilence is finally gone, I will leave to be with my family... we have been alive for too long... once the curse of Pestilence is eradicated, so will I. The curse of Pestilence... is my curse just as well," the Plague Doctor said solemnly, which we then looked at each other and smiled.
"Well, before that, do you want something to eat, per chance? Maybe some water?" I offered, holding a piece of pizza that I'd saved from 458 as well as a cup of water that I'd saved just for him for calming down afterwards.
"I'm appreciative of both... I thank you, Marcus Osmond... never before have I found a truer friend than you," 049 spoke, which made me blush after.
"Aw, I'm honored to be your friend as well," I smirked, which the doctor then took the food and, after touching it, both vanished upon touching his beak and he sighed after. "It tasted very good..." We then went back inside and I heard Harper speak a phrase under her breath.
"So that's how he eats? Not on my bingo card," she admitted.
After this series of events concluded, I then was given something from Doctor Carver during downtime after 049 went back to Site 19. What was he giving me?
"Sonny, for helping to eventually neutralize 049 in a very peaceful manner and discovering the cause for his Pestilence obsession, I'm going to give you 03 status along with your SCP status... with it comes certain perks, such as the nametag, as well as some special items," Doctor Carver said as he gave me the nametag for being an 03 council member. As for my tag, I was 03-87. They had a lot of 03 scientists, apparently. He then handed me a walkie talkie, one that looked to be upgraded with some telekill alloy. AKA: SCP-148.
"That walkie-talkie has been upgraded by 914 to be able to go for long distances between ONLY our specific radio frequencies. It allows you to speak from any distance without fear of being eavesdropped upon by others," Carver explained before then handing me a special gun, me seeing this gun was upgraded just as well from 914. "This gun, another 914 success, is able to fire concussive rubber bullets, but they are also unlimited and disappear upon touching the ground by turning into dust. Useful in case you get in a jam with a dangerous SCP."
And then, the last thing was a blinding helmet, which made me confused. "And this here? This is for your next experiment. We're going to take you to 096's current location and see if you can speak to it. The helmet is just for safety, just in case he'll be activated even from you," Doctor Carver explained, me nodding at his explanation as he then had me board onto a jet and we then proceeded to fly a long way towards SCP-096's current containment area. And I was surprised that it was in its own specific containment area that was in a deep underground bunker... not only that, it was also the location of SCP-001J. AKA, the 'blow up the world button'. So yeah, we were pretty far underground at this moment.
As for his containment, it was the exact same containment as it was in my world's latest revision. A giant cube that only had a single entrance on the right side that could only be accessed via a triple-door lock, while also being contained in another room around it. So if I went into the cube, I had to place my helmet on in order to go inside.
When I got there, the other scientists looked at us with concern.
"You're one crazy bloke, that's all I gotta tell ya, bud," said one of the guards, me nodding.
"Believe me, I am well aware. But I'm the only one who is able to talk to the not-so-talkative SCPs, so I'm the only one who can find out more about 096. I'm putting the helmet on. After that, I'll be blinded and I'll need you to move me through from radar movements," I said, them nodding as I then placed the helmet on... and everything went dark. No light, no vision, only darkness.
"Okay, opening door number one. Take five steps forward," the first guard said, me doing that and entering the first door. "First door closed. Opening door 2. When the noise concludes, move 3 more steps forward." I then did as instructed. "Now the final door." After this, I then waited for the noise to conclude as I heard 096 begin to speak in a distraught voice.
"P-Please... d-don't look at me... I can't risk it... not again..." he cried in a similar voice to... um... me? I then walked forward some more in the blinded form as I spoke.
"Don't worry, bud. I'm blinded by the helmet... I'm here to try and interview you," I said, 096 then moving around a little bit.
"I... I recall you... a day ago or so..." he said, me humming after.
"You can call me Marcus if you want... but I'm like you. Another designated SCP," I said, him then speaking after.
"I feel so sorry for you... you're suffering just like me... trapped, but to be used to kill..." he said, me frowning at that.
"I can assure you that killing is the last thing I'd want. As of right now, my duty is to talk to any SCP that cannot be understood by anyone else. And that's what I'm here for. To learn about you, how you were turned into what you are now, and, if possible, any knowledge of how to put you out of your misery... because the termination request has been approved, but your current form is QUITE resiliant," I said, the guy then sobbing a tiny bit before then talking.
"O-Okay... here's what the tale is..."
I was a normal everyday guy, just like the ones who run this joint. I lived a normal life in a small, suburban neighborhood. Not too many people cared for me, but that was fine. I liked to keep to myself.
But then, after that, I suddenly had some weird feeling happen to me. I saw that my likeness had been photographed by someone and placed on the internet for all to see... after that? I felt unrelenting pain. The things the people said, the words on the screen... I was insulted in every way in the book! After this, I screamed in agony, feeling nothing but rage, nothing but pain, nothing but fury at how everyone hated my face! And then...
Then it happened. I begged to god, any god out there, that I could get revenge on anyone who saw my face. And that's when I changed into what I am today... now, anyone who sees my new, god-awful face... I just go insane... I rush forward with no thoughts in my mind until I wake up to the disgusting taste of raw human in my mouth and stomach... I've killed way too many people... mothers, fathers, children... even infants... no one is safe from my gaze...
I then begged any god out there to tell me what my weakness was... then, when I heard of you... I had an idea... if you were to touch my hand... maybe I could find out...
After this, I then felt a very bony finger touch my arm, which I stood completely immobile after. And when this happened, 096 then gasped. "I... I know the way to finally end my suffering..." he said as I then spoke.
"What is it, bud?" I asked him.
"The only way for me to no longer exist... is to find the god that did this to me... and force her to lift this horrible curse! The god in question... it's... 6666... formal name, Titania..." he said, my expression then going from intrigued to 'oh shit' in a matter of moments.
I knew what the problem was, just from this information alone. SCP-6666 was not only a goddess, she was an Old God and one of the hardest to contain, as she existed in the land of dreams and nightmares! If I were to help 096 out, that meant I had to find some way to fall asleep and try to contact 6666 in person.
"I know who she is, and let me tell you, it is going to be EXTREMELY difficult to contact her, let alone convince her to lift your curse. But... I'll try to find out some possible way to do it, that much I can promise you," I spoke, him then speaking after.
"I know you will... you seem to be a very... very honest man... I'll let you go then... thank you for not taking the helmet off... I can't risk it..." he said, me nodding at.
"May you please face away from the door now? I need to get out and I don't want to risk the others seeing you," I said, him speaking.
"Y-Yes... I will..." he said before I then talked into my walkie-talkie.
"Interview concluded, requesting to exit 096 containment," I said, the door for door 3 then opening and me then being instructed just as prior until I was finally out of the room and my helmet removed by Doctor Harper.
"So... what did you learn?" she asked.
"There's only one way to get 096 to turn from what he is now into what he was before being transformed. Find the one who transformed him... Major issue, however. The one who did so was SCP-6666. AKA, Titania, fairy queen of nightmares," I said, which the group then gawked at as I heard some discourse from the guards.
"You can't be serious, can you?! If you think about that bitch before falling asleep, you're completely at her mercy! You think your skills can protect you from Titania? She's a GODDESS! She could turn you into a frog, much like how you say she turned 096 into... what he is now!" Harper said in shock, me frowning at that.
"I understand the concerns... but we can't find out until we try. As of now, I need to get some sleep... but my first slumber won't be trying to contact Titania. It'll be to try and contact another Keter class... one that only appears to Foundation members. You know the one I speak of," I said with a wink.
"You think you can induce an instance of 990 out of sheer will? It's almost completely random with his appearances. You'll never figure it out," Carver frowned, me smirking at him.
"I need to speak to him to see if he knows anything of how to counter Titania's powers. And given her strength and godlike powers, she's most certainly big enough of a threat for 990 to give me the info I need," I said as I then walked to the nearest sleeping quarters at the underground site and proceeded to go to sleep. But before doing so, I made sure that the only image and person I was thinking of was 990. The Foundation Dream Guardian.
