Warning for suicidal thoughts.

i.

Sometimes he misses the chill of the Southern Icefield. He won't go back though. He's pretty certain thatItis still there - waiting for him.

ii.

Bronte wishes it would snow here, hidden in the depths of the Viridian Labyrinth. He used to love playing around and throwing snowballs at his friends when he was younger. Occasionally he considers asking someone if changing weather patterns might be possible, but then decides that it would be more hassle than it's worth.

iii.

He does enjoy the sound of the rain. And the way everything smells clean afterwards. He's not a fan of the cloying humidity, however.

iv.

He doesn't trust Trin. That rumour-monger is too sly for her own good. Then again…he's started rumours before. Not here in Felhallow, but in other places. Most of the time he regretted doing that. Deep down, however, there was a part of him that enjoyed seeing others suffer. And that scared him. Maybe they're a bit more similar than Bronte thinks. He tries not to admit it.

v.

Seriously,Barra grouses at him.I don't understand why you're the one who gets into trouble so frequently. Are you trying to die?

No,Bronte says, with a guilty smile.Of course not.

vi.

That's a lie. He does want to die. Immortality is not something he wanted, but he can't remove it. Not that he'd ever tell anyone that. It's not something he wants to burden his friends with. But privately, every time he comes out of a almost-certainly fatal encounter alive, he wishes he didn't. He curses the nightmare lurking in the Fortress of Ends that forced this…condition on him.

vii.

He's not the only one cursed. There are several others in the same boat. Cold comfort maybe, but it makes him feel a tiny bit better.

viii.

He'll catch Fane looking at him oddly sometimes. And he can't help but wonder. Can she read my mind, as well as my emotions? Can she see into the deepest part of my soul? He's not sure he likes the thought. Fane's one of the very few dragons he tries to be honest with - she is his partner after all. Even partners have secrets from each other.

But…on days where he feels really bad (a botched job or he just breaks from the pressure of things) her presence is welcome. She doesn't even need to say anything. Her just being there brings him more comfort than she could ever know.

ix.

He never says it out loud, and Fane never asks, but he really does love her. As awkward as they are about being romantic in public, he's pleased when she curls up next to him in the privacy of their own home.

x.

When he first arrived in Felhallow, all he thought about was leaving. He didn't want to make friends or find a partner. Now though? Well, maybe things aren't so bad.
