It was near 9 p.m when they arrived in Palo Alto.
– «This neighborhood is in secured area, house on the right side is owned by a family from San Jose, Stewarts are spending here vacations and holidays, I have met with them for a few times, house on the left is owned by an elderly couple, Mr and Mrs Anderson, they moved here from Sun Valley, Nevada after retirement, they are very nice people, Mrs Anderson often treats me with her delicious apple pie and Mr Anderson helped me to learn what's going on in this community. House opposite is empty, house from its right, our left, opposite Anderson is owned by Miller's, their parents prefer to live in LA, so here are living only siblings, Robert who is 28 and is planning to move out in a few months to live with his girlfriend, he is an engineer, Leo 26, with whom I hanged out a few times, he is a cool guy, also works in IT, but in video games, we even tested together a few new ones and their sister Deanna or shortly Di, she is 23 or 24, she is an artist, she is drawing animations, she travelled this whole summer, so I have seen her only 3 or 4 times, when she was in town for a day, but how I know, she is going to settle here in a month because of a new project. And house on the other side, opposite Stewart's is owned by a middle age couple, Allen's moved here a year ago and are living on two houses, here and in San Francisco and they are living with their kids, ages 4 and 7, she is a doctor, he is a lawyer, they invited me twice to a barbecue.» Logan spend last 10 minutes speaking about his neighbours, Rory was left open-mouthed, Logan from 2004 would never be interested in his neighbours, but her Logan from 2007 actually knows this people, she liked it and she liked to see him so captivated by his new acquaintances.
– «Have you made new friends on a bus?» he asked
– «Well, bus is full of different people, with different characters, I am in normal relationships with all of them, actually it took me about 3 week to remember everyone's names and surnames, but yeah, I can say that I am friendly with one of them, Lena, she is from Maryland and she has greek roots and even knows greek language, she is really sweet, we are now always staying in the same room in motels.» Rory was happy to tell him about her life, she wanted to do it since Hugo offered her this job and he was happy to listen her and happy that she found a good friend.
When car stopped Rory found herself on a porch of a two store house, thanks God it wasn't a mansion and honestly it was not as big as Gilmore house back at Hartford.
She looked around, from the right side there was garage, from the left there was seen a backyard, in front of the house were a few bushes and they looked like they're taken care of and she noticed that the same size bushes where in front of other houses too. Logan noticed her puzzled look and said:
– «Here every street has their own shape of bushes, don't ask me, not my decision» he chuckled «we have a gardener, who comes once in a month and is taking care of them, 50$ from each house monthly»
– «Oh wow, that's quite a lot»
– «Well, it's not only bushes, but also trees on a street and lawn, and if you'll add bonus 20$ he will also take care of a backyard. Let's go inside»
– «Yeah, let's go»
– «Just, just don't be scared I haven't fully furnished the house, living room, kitchen and my bedroom are furnished, but other roomss...» Rory just nodded.
– « Soo, here we are, at first floor is living room, kitchen, one room which I want to turn into game room, but well, that's in plans and two guest rooms and yeah of course there is joined bathroom between guest rooms and also a powder room near entrance, at second floor is master bedroom with walking in closet and personal bathroom, room which is also not furnished yet, but is supposed to be a den and two other rooms with which I had no idea what to do and decided to just leave them as two guest rooms and well there is also a bathroom.» Rory looked around amazingly, she liked this house, it was really amazing, well half unfurnished, but she still thought that this house has a big potential. She was looking around in living room when she noticed from panoramic windows a backyard, or it would be more right to say a tree, an avocado tree, two avocado trees.
– «Is that, is that, that one avocado tree? Is this that house about which you told me?» she said while was trying to keep her tears.
– «Yeah, yes this is that house, when you said no, I still choose to live here, it somehow was a dream of a possible life, so I thought that it will help to still feel you and well that's also the reason why house in unfurnished, I just wasn't able to pick up anything for this place alone.»
Rory at this point just started crying, Logan hugged her with his healthy hand at sat them down on a sofa, he stroked her back and waited when she'll come down.
– «Logan, we need to talk»
– «I know, I know, you'll start or me?»
– «Let me start, Logan I love you, I loved you when you asked me to marry you, but Logan we never talked about it before, I was blindsided by your proposal, I panicked, I had no idea what is going to happen with my life, I had no time to discover my life outside of Yale, outside of being a student, you had your time to discover yourself in London, I deserved to have my London and not to get married right after college.»
– «Ror, you didn't wanted to get married right away?» she nodded. «Why you thought that, that's going to happen? Why you didn't told me about that? Why you started talking about "wild open future", you said it like I was superfluous in your life plan or to be more exactly in your mom's plan?»
– «My mom's?»
– «Yes your mom's plan, Ror you know me, you know that I would be okay with a long engagement, I would still know that you want to be with me, yeah it would be hard to convince me to go on with a long distance back then, hell I still don't want to have a long distance relationship, but yeah now we can find a way to work through that , but back then I needed to know that you also wanted to spend our lives together and that you love me enough for that!»
– «What do you mean love you enough?»
– «Love me enough to marry me, love me enough to want to spent your whole life me, because of I love you Ace that much, you are IT for me and I know that for a long time.»
– «Oh my God, of course I love you that much, I love you more than anyone else in my life and you are IT for me too, I was thinking about the fact that you are my right person since valentine's day in Martha's Vineyards.»
– «So why you didn't told me about that? Why you didn't talked with me about long engagement?»
– «I, I don't, I don't..»
– «Your mother?»
– «What?»
– «Has it something to do with Lorelai?»
– «I don't know, maybe, I didn't wanted to think about that» she stood up. «I asked her about it, at that night when I asked you for time, she told me to decide by myself, but Logan, I saw her sight when you asked me , Logan she was disappointed, she looked at me like I was throwing away my whole future, I don't know why she is thinking like that , why she is thinking that I am going to become like your mother or why you would want for me ro become like Shira, but well yes I was scared because of her reaction too, but when you told me about California that also freaked me out. And well back then I thought that long distance would be a good option for us, but now I also don't know for how long I can keep up with it.»
– «Ace, ace I would never ask you to be like my mom, Ace you know that's one of the reasons why I felt so hard for you, is that you are not like her.»
– «I know» she murmured.
– «And I want you to have your career, I want you to find yourself and to be successful and happy with your job. And Ror, I asked your mother for permission to propose to you before my trip to California, she knew that it was coming.»
– «She what? She knew?»
– «Yeah and Ror I still want that everything with you, I know that we still have a lot to talk about, but I want to discuss this, I am not going to ask you to marry me right now, but well we can't forget about that topic. Rory Gilmore I want you back, do you want me back in your life?»
– «Yes, Logan I want you back.» and he just jumped at that moment and kissed her, kissed her like never before. They both where lost in the moment and had no idea for how long they kissed, 10 seconds, a minute or 10 minutes, but they broke away when both started breathing heavily.
– «But I don't know how it's going to work, I am on a bus and...» she started to talk while they stood embraced.
– «For how long you have to work for Hugo?»
– «Well, here's the thing, that Hugo gave us all an opportunity to work for different time period – 6, 9, 12 or 18 months. And we just have to notify him two months before.»
– «Ror, you know that I can't move back to East Coast, maybe in a few years, but not now, I have to proof my dad that I can work without him, I have to proof myself that I can be someone more than just Mitchum Huntzberger's heir» he told her and she grabbed his face with her hands.
– «I know, Logan, I know and you are more than that and you know it, I know it and I believe that you'll show that to everyone else» and after she said it he kissed her forehead and continued
– «But you also don't want to move to West Coast, right?»
– «I honestly don't know, I have to think about that, I have to...»
– «To do a Pro/Con list» he chuckled.
– «Yeah, a Pro/Con list, but I am really exhausted and don't think, that I can make any decision right now.»
– «You don't have to make that decision now Ace, you have plenty of time, let's go to bed and get a beauty sleep»
– «Yeah let's go» she said and kissed him on a cheek.
– «Ace, I don't insist on anything, if you want you can stay in guest room or if you really want on a sofa...»
– «Is this sofa really that good, that you are suggesting it to me for a second time?» they both laughed.
– «Well, I actually think that it's going to be very useful for something...»
– «Hush you!»
– «But I really missed to sleep with you and I swear, let's just sleep cuddled»
– «Just sleeping Huntzberger, your arm is still broken, so forget about any acrobatics mister!»
– «But I am keeping my rights to dream about them.» he chuckled and showed Rory their way in bedroom.
