It was 9 a.m when Rory woke up and turned to Logan, he was peacefully sleeping, she loved to see him like that, he always seemed younger at times like this, like he was forgetting all his problems. And at this moment she remembered that she have to have one very serious and problematic conversation with her mom. She already knew what she'll hear from her, but that wasn't helping at all.
– «Hey, about what are you thinking? Your breathing changed» Logan said with closed eyes.
– «Since when you can distinguish my type of breathing?» she chuckled.
– «Ace, ace, ace since forever.» he said while laughing. «But if seriously, what's going on?»
– «Mom.» she sighed
– «Oh»
– «Yeah, oh, I am not afraid of what she is going to say, I know what's coming and I know that I am absolutely sure in my decision, Logan look at me, I am not going to change my mind» he nodded at that and smiled «But I have no idea what's going to be an outcome of that conversation, I am afraid of what she is going to do and what she is going to tell to everyone.»
– « What do you mean? What she is going to tell to everyone? To whom everyone?»
– « To people from Stars Hollow, they liked you previous time and I don't what them to change their opinion on you because of mom» Hollow was her hometown, she loved people from town and yeah, she wanted them to like Logan.
– «Ace, what your mom can say for them to start hating me» he said and chuckled on that.
– «Logan, you don't know Lorelai Gilmore, she can do anything.» she said seriously.
– «Okay, I see that you are nervous, maybe you need to have a backup plan?»
– «What do you mean?» she asked puzzled.
– «Lane! Ask her to help and to tell townspeople your side and your thoughts» he said proudly.
– «Logan! You are genius!» she screamed and jumped from bed.
– «Why this idea came in your mind and not mine» they laughed.
Logan went to make a breakfast for them and Rory called Lane:
– «Lane, Hi, how are you? How is Zack? How are twins?»
– «Oh, Ror, Hi, we are fine and you called right on time, yesterday little ones said their first words! Imagine! Steve just woke up in the middle of the night and started screaming "Pa-pa, pa-pa" (korean version of dad) and thereafter in like 10 minutes Kwon started saying "Ma-ma, ma-ma". I was soo happy at that moment!»
– «Oh my God! That's amazing guys, I am happy for you»
– «Thank you bestie, how are you? How is Chicago?»
– «Well, I am not in Chicago and that's why I am calling and wow you aren't interrupting me! That's something new» they laughed at this statement.
– «So why you are not in Chicago?» and Rory told her about last five days and about her decisions.
– «Wow, a lot of things changed in a few days, at first my congratulations, I am understanding why you said no, but I really thought that he is your right person and at second your mom's reaction is really curious, I love Lorelai and she always was a cool mom, which respected her daughter's wishes and I don't understand why she is acting like this and you are right conversation with her will be a hard one, message me after it and give me a greenlight to start telling everyone that you two are back together.»
– «Lane, thank you, thank you so so much, I don't know what I would do without you, I love you» Rory said thankfully to her best friend.
– «I love you too Ror and I actually want to ask you something » Lane said carefully.
– «Go on»
– «Logan told you, that he is not going to propose right now, but also added that this conversation is not over, what are you going to tell him? And what will be your answer if he'll propose to you again in a week, in a month or two months?»
– « Honestly, I would be ready to that this time and Lane is that silly that 3 months ago I was afraid to say yes because of my insecurities, but now I am feeling like I am ready for commitment like that, especially my confidence established yesterday after our discussion about our personal lifes during last 3 months.»
– « What do you mean?»
– « Well, previous time after our break up he slept with all of Honor's bridesmaids, he was "trying to forget me" and well I had no idea, what he did this time, because I wasn't able even to go on a date with a boy from our bus and..»
– « And? Come on Ror, he fucked with somebody during this summer?»
– «No.»
– «No?»
– «Nope, he said that this time was absolutely different for him, even thoughts about other women made him sick and full of guilty, like if he was thinking about cheating to me, so there was nobody and he even joked that is was his third summer in a row without sex» girls laughed at that. « And I think, that this time I am going to say yes and to be honest I don't want for him to stretch out time, but I understand that he was hurt previously.»
– « Ror, you are happy with him right?»
– « Yes, yes I am happy with him Lane.»
– « Then I am happy for you» Lane said with a smile on her face «When I am going to see you for next time?»
– « Well, today at night I am flying back to Chicago, whole September I will spend on a road, yesterday evening I spoke with Hugo, he is okay with my decision and he even asked me to write for his online magazine even after campaign, so where I was, I have 2 days off at my birthday and I am planning for them to come here in Palo Alto, no idea about Halloween, Finn stopped yesterday before his flight and said that he has a grandiose plans for it, my next off days will be at Thanksgiving and we decided that we need to spend them in Connecticut, so I think that's it, I am sorry, but it's not very soon and well next off days will be at holiday season, after which I'll have to go back till my final day at January 10th. Sorry I rambled again.»
– « It's Okey, I missed your ramblings, so we will meet at Thanksgiving, just how we agreed, don't disappear more than for a week, okey?»
– « Yes, of course, bye and hug boys from me!»
Rory felt awesome after her talk with Lane it was somehow refreshing for her. They had their breakfast and Rory decided to ask him:
– «You told anybody that we are back together?»
– «What?»
– «You told anybody besides Finn, that we are back together?» she repeated «Just I told Lane and messaged about that Paris and I am going to email about it to Lucy and Olive, they both freaked out when heard that I am in California and are waiting from me a whole essay about what's going on and I have to have conversation with mom, after which have to call to my grandparents and dad before her to explain them everything, dad knows that I am here, but Emily and Richard, they have no clue about my location.»
– «Honor, Josh, Colin, Robert, Seth, Stephanie, Rosemary, Juliet, Leo and Robert across the street and before you'll ask about my parents and grandfather, no, they don't know yet, but I think Honor is going to tell them, I know that you noticed, that I was trying not to touch topic of my parents for this last few days and that's because of we have no contact right now, their decision, not mine.»
– «What do you mean no contact? You haven't talked to them since whole fall out at HPG?»
– «Only once with my dad, after I settled here, he called, said that I am expected to be noticed at Thanksgiving and wished me a good luck here, actually that was surprising, he even sounded a little proud.»
– «Wow, I don't even know what to say.»
At midday Logan needed to work with his laptop, he spoked at his workplace and he will work next week from home and after will be back in office and will work from there with his assistants help. And while Logan was busy, Rory was preparing herself for discussion with her mother.
– «Hi mom»
– «Hello fruit of my lion's» Rory rolled her eyes, she asked her for thousands of time to not call her like that.
– «How are you? How is Luke?»
– «We are fine, thanks, Luke is having April this week, before her school will start, next time he'll her only at Thanksgiving and maybe for that time we will move in together, I don't know, we haven't decided anything yet, how are you?»
– «Oh, wow, I am happy for you guys, I am fine» Rory sighed and added «I need to talk to you»
– «Okay»
– «But don't interrupt, give me an opportunity to say everything»
– «Okay, I promise»
– «We are back together, me and Logan, we are back together, mom I love him and he loves me, mom I was a mess for last 3 months, as was he and before you'll think about it, no he wasn't sleeping around with anybody this summer. You remember our conversation about Hugo's opportunities? I decided to be on Obama's campaign trail for 6 months, so for 3 months more till beginning of January, I notified Hugo, he is absolutely fine with it, he even asked me to write something for his online magazine. Mom you know that I am already exhausted, life on a bus and sleeping in it or in cheap motels it not something for me, so with or without Logan there was no way that I would stay there for 18 months. And well after that I am planning to move in Palo Alto with Logan, I know that you are angry, but mom I am a journalist and I can find a job everywhere around the globe and right now my loved one needs to be here, so that's it, I can't live without him. I already looked at newspapers here and you perfectly know that San Francisco is one of the coolest cities for work and no I am not going to live here and fully depend on Logan, I am going to contribute and pay for utilities, food and e.t.» Rory said in one breath.
– «When I am going to see you here?»
– «What?»
– «You are an adult now and you can make your own decisions, but I don't like any of them and how I can see you don't even care about my opinion and that I don't have a say in anything. So I am not going to argue with you when you are so far away, I want to be updated about your road. When you are going to be at home for us to have a conversation?» Lorelai was furious, but she new her daughter and new that she will distance herself after huge fight, so she hoped that when she'll see her eye to eye, she will be able to bring some sentence in her and to explain that Logan Huntzberger is not right for her.
– « At Thanksgiving.»
– « What? Thanksgiving, but it's in 2 months!»
– « Before it I am going only to have two days for my birthday and I want to spent them with Logan and two days for Halloween, for which Finn is planning something huge.»
– «Fine, fine, then I'll you at Thanksgiving, bye honey, I love you»
– «Bye, love you too».
Okey, that was strange Rory thought, there is no way that this is the end, her mother is definitely up for something. Lately Lane is going to tell her, that Lorelai told to Ms Patty and Babbette, that Rory is throwing her life away for a boy and that she's just waiting her to be home to change her mind.
Next she called to her grandparents and unsurprisingly they were happy, of course they were not such a big fan's of them living together, but we have already gone through that and obviously grandma requested their presence for dinner before her Thanksgiving party, Rory wasn't sure about her grandpas reaction, but he sounded fine. Actually Richard was just concerned for his granddaughter, she was hurt after their break up, that boy broke her heart, he just hoped that this time it all will work out for them. And last family conversation was with her dad, they both were working on their relationship after divorce and everything, Christopher was on the same page as grandpa and also asked to meet with him during their days in Connecticut. God help them to go through that week.
They spent the rest of the day cuddled on a couch. Rory's flight to Chicago was at 3 a.m, so Logan called driver and went with her to airport. Saying goodbye was as always hard for them, but this time they knew, that everything is going to be alright and that they will meet in 5 weeks. Well, Rory thought that in 5 weeks, but Logan was already planning to surprise her in 3 weeks in Minnesota, in 3 weeks is going to be their first meetings anniversary and yes he means the one in hallway when they argued and not the one with Marty.
