They said war was only between enemies, no such mercy existed, no such love pulled through. But there was an irony about that. Her enemy was also her husband.
Arcee had been spark bonded with him not the entire war but a good portion of it and it was because they understood one another; they found attraction between the similarities and the thrill of the contest that was their partner. They may not agree on certain things which was why Arcee was on one end and Megatron remained on the other side but that didn't destroy what they had, only made it a challenge. Whoever won was kind of irrelevant for them because regardless, they would have each other.
The femme peered down from the cliff side at her sparkmate as he talked with his soldiers in his rough stance like always. He, of course, noticed her but didn't rat her out to his soldiers. He knew better and he just smiled. She couldn't help but smile back.
They needed each other. Megatron was damn near on the brink of insanity and she was suffering from depression over the loss of her teammates across the timeline of the war. She kept him sane while he gave her a reason to live. They completed each other. It had become obvious that both of them that life was fragile and so many things could shatter their lives if not almost already. Together they faced death and won; together they were each other's lifelines. If one of them would pass, the other probably wouldn't survive much longer…not as long as the traumatic consequences of war still lingered.
It didn't escape their notice that they had met before the war, a long time ago. He was a miner that just became a gladiator and she was originally a dancer but her notorious nature of killing scum lords and criminals who tried to get with her caught the attention of a currently deceased employer who hired her to use her skills to assassinate specific bots either by sniper or by seduction. She was once hired to kill Megatron's gladiatorial slaver over a political outcry of the treatment of gladiators. It was one of the first failures of her career because guess who happened to save the day accidentally? She got away but apparently, he remembered that.
They had both suffered at the hands of others and they knew what it was like to not have a choice in the matter. War was no different. Neither of them wanted to fight yet here they were. They understood the pain, the choices that had to be made to survive, and that's how they grew to appreciate one another. It was, of course, their little secret.
She slid down the rock face between the trees and slowly crept near her dear beloved who in return, made sure no Decepticon was looking at him. Megatron approached quickly and nuzzled her as he sat on one knee. The scars on his face were pretty admittedly and she used her digits to trace them delicately.
"No blowing me up sky high?"
The warlord smirked, "Haven't considered it yet, my dear."
Arcee laughed, "Might want to consider that quickly because I may strike at any given moment."
"Ah, but I'm not so easy to hurt. You're welcome to try though," Megatron rumbled.
As they purred and shared their moment with each other, Arcee couldn't imagine how things would be without her gladiator by her side. They were the most unlikely of a couple but that didn't deter their choice. Her sparkmate was hers to hold through thick and thin.
AN: I actually used to think through hints and quips of canon that Megatron and Arcee came from similar backgrounds or they both started from the bottom and rose up. When you look at those tidbits of canon, you realize how similar they are despite their choice of sides in the war. That's one of the reasons I really like this pairing.
