Pairing: Movieverse Agent Burns/Megatron

Rating: General

Details/Themes: One-sided, small talk

After meeting B-127, the supposed criminal who just saved the world, Agent Simmons had given him access to a classified piece of Sector Seven even some of the higher ups weren't allowed to see. Select few had the ability to witness the crown jewel of the metal titans. He knew of the existence of the aliens like formerly-called B-127, now officially named Bumblebee, but this thing was a whole new level.

A giant even against the likes of Dropkick and Shatter, NBE-One was a monster. One would think upon meeting the others this guy was the king of the Cybertronians...queen...leader? He had no clue but whatever the massive creature identified as, it scared him. And yet, he found himself drawn to the mech.

Given he now had the power to roam in even Sector Seven's most restricted chamber holding NBE-One, of course he would take the time to study the alien in the basement of Hoover Dam. On the catwalk attached to overlook NBE-One's frozen body, Jack scoped out the features of the alien.

Sharp, jagged fangs and a masculine shape certainly gave it appeal but there was no telling what it sounded like or its purpose. There was a faded symbol hidden among its chest armor that Burns couldn't make out. He had seen a mixture of these aliens supporting two different types of them. So, it belonged to a faction, most likely the leader given the abnormal size and power this thing held but Burns couldn't tell which.

Agent Burns smirked and left once he had enough time surveying the specimen, but that wasn't the last time he went to see NBE-One. He kept coming back, often talking out of the blue to get his frustrations off his chest and like a great audience, NBE-One listened...not that it had a choice.

"For years, human beings yearned for discovery, wanted to roam the cosmos to new planets and here your kind can just do it out of the blue. I wish I could know more about you. You're one of a kind, that's for sure. These Decepticons, I don't know if they are your faction but they are so determined to hurt others just because they can, it astounds me. I wonder if you are the same as us?"

The silence didn't help but it wasn't like he could expect anything more. "I know you probably got this all the time on your planet but you are admirable. I bet if you have...had a partner, they were pretty lucky to be with you. Do...do you guys express love like we do? Do you even have genders or sexualities?"

He contemplated his own question with amusement. Since Dropkick and Shatter seemed to recognize some pronouns, it was a theory that some type of expression of pseudo-anatomy or chosen-constructed identity did lie within their species.

There was a pause when he contemplated the identity of the human race compared to the rest of the universe. For thousands of years, humans believed they were superior and the only intelligent life in the universe. Until now, not much disputed this notion. Then the giant machines one would mistake for man-made war bots, stead revealed to be living creatures just the same with the most advanced technology the world had ever seen, came to Earth.

This wasn't something Jack could ignore as a coincidence or a miracle; this was the proof they weren't alone and there were species that could do things they could only dream of for the next thousand years or so.

"You may find me unworthy of your time, but please know that I don't take my time with you as a burden. I don't know if you believe in fate, most likely I'll never find these answers in my lifetime, but I believe I was meant to be among you for a reason. You don't just grow up from a child gazing up at the sky every night wondering what lies beyond the stars and then get the chance to meet someone as magnificent as you as an agent. Nobody in the history of the world could say that right now. Nobody."

NBE-One's body creaked from the ice but did nothing out of the ordinary as far as he could tell. Burns bit his lip and was about to turn away when he caught in the corner of his eye something briefly twinkle red around the alien's faceplates. He quickly tried to place the origin though it was already gone by the time he was scouting. Just then, he noticed a very faint tint of red to the mech's optics. It barely lasted a few seconds before going completely black again.

"Can you hear me?" Agent Burns said low.

He thought he heard a whisper among the frigid air but scoffed. It was probably nothing, only his imagination.

"Well, if you are listening, there's a lot I want to know and I know there's something you do too. Maybe one day, we'll properly meet each other and I'll learn your real name. My name is Jack Burns."

When no activity seemed present, Jack nodded to himself and smiled, "Nice talking with you."

AN: And you thought I wouldn't do anything with Agent Burns? Megatron is one of the best mediators for human ships. Had to put that out there.
