Chapter One: The New Female Recruit of the Eleventh Division

7: 45 AM~Eleventh Division Main Office~The New Recruit

Everyone's staring at the young woman with the nine-tailed demon fox beside her as the young woman stares back at us with no fear in those piercing emerald green eyes as she stands silently beside Yamamoto soutaicho. Some boys, including my third seat, Madarame Ikkaku, eyed the young woman with disgust and disdain. In contrast, others, like myself and my fifth seat, Ayasegawa Yumichika, and my new fourth seat, Minamino Takashi, took a mild interest in the young woman.

The soutaicho introduces the young woman as Seiun Tempest and the nine-tailed demon fox as Kuronue. This gains everyone's attention, even mine, and causes a stir amongst the boys until the nine-tailed demon fox growls warningly, effectively shutting everyone up. The soutaicho only sighs dismissively while the young woman smirks mischievously.

I heard rumors about this kid and her fox. I never dreamt I would have the brat in my division. Oh crap, she's going to drive me fucking crazy. I could see great potential in her and a hidden mischievousness, too. Oh, fuck me.

Madarame Ikkaku glares coldly at the young woman, which only widens that smirk to a full-blown wicked grin. Tempest ignores him entirely, and then she turns those piercing emerald green eyes over at me expectantly.

I looked over at Ayasegawa Yumichika, who nodded in acknowledgment. Yumichika smiles at Tempest in welcome while watching Kuronue with uncertainty. Kuronue sniffs at Yumichika, who goes stiff, as I see that mischievous smirk on Tempest's face. I saw Kuronue wag his tail in a friendly manner, which put Yumichika at ease.

I watched as Yumichika led the young woman away. I turned to the rest of the division as they scrambled to start their day. I saw the disapproval in Ikkaku's eyes; I did approve of the brat joining this division, even if I knew the brat could drive me up the proverbial wall. I knew somehow she'd fit in without a doubt once she proved herself to my rowdy-tough-tumble boys, especially Ikkaku.

Yumichika takes Tempest and Kuronue to her barracks, a substantial unused dojo. Ukitake-taicho had commissioned Urahara Kisuke to restore and install anything Tempest needed.

Tempest whistled upon seeing how much room there was for herself and Kuronue. It's a lot bigger than her room at the Ukitake Manor. Yumichika could see her smiling appreciatively at the barrack. Kuronue lay on his huge bed, wagging all nine tails in approval.

Yumichika watches for a few minutes and leaves quietly.

An hour later, I watched as Tempest came out of her room. I noticed Tempest's wearing what Yumichika calls workout clothes from the World of the Living World. I'm amazed by how fit, athletic, and firm this brat is. Her shinigami outfit hides her figure. Damn, and she's still single too. I shook my head of my thoughts and noticed Kuronue wasn't with her either.

I came out, and I watched as she ran toward the training grounds with her zanpakuto strapped to her shoulder. I knew Yumichika had pointed it out to her and where I could be found if she needed anyone to talk to. Tempest will likely turn to Yumichika for advice before saying anything to me. I could see Yumichika had taken a liking to Tempest. Hmm, I wonder.

I could see Ikkaku eyeing Tempest up with disgust.

I followed the brat to see precisely what she was working on. Of course, those who weren't busy doing their morning chores were out here. I watched as she stretched and did some warm-ups and what looked like yoga. Damn, she's is flexible.

The brat went to the far end of the training grounds as if not to bother anyone, but I suspect it was to make sure her zanpakuto didn't accidentally hurt anyone. I watched as she looked around to see if anyone was around, and then she sighed.

A zanpakuto rings as it is being drawn, and a commanding voice rang out,

"Unari Tsuyoi, Stage One, "

A sphere of hurricane-force winds surrounds Tempest in a protective cocoon as tornadoes are shot out, which had me dodging. Damn, that's strong enough to put most of the boys, including me, on our asses or in the fourth.

Amongst the howling wind, I heard the same commanding voice,

" Kaminari yari Tsuyoi, Stage Two,"

Lightning spears were being shot from the sphere, and I was looking for cover. Damn, I was right. Tempest is pretty strong for an Academy graduate. I have a feeling Ukitake taicho has something to do with her progress. He must've been tutoring and training her on her home trips.

I heard that same commanding voice,

" Kaijo Tsuyoi, Stage Three,"

Suddenly, everything stops and drops from the air, including me. Tempest stood there smiling. I tried to sneak away but heard a commanding, clear voice behind me and Kuronue blocking my path, growling warningly.

" So Tsuyoi was right when he said he smells a Berserker of great power watching us," Tempest growls through clenched teeth.

A hard kick to my stomach had me on my knees as I heard a growl and rocks crunching under my shoes. I looked up to see Kuronue standing between me and a very pissed-off Tempest with tears standing in her eyes,

" My brother Tsuyoi was trying to kill you, so Tempest is upset at the moment because you foolhardily put yourself in danger. Tsuyoi doesn't trust you except Yumichika because he is willing to get to know Tempest. So understandably, Tempest is upset." Kuronue looks over his shoulder at me.

At that moment, the alarm rang out announcing a horde of Hallows has invaded Seireitei, I stood up and placed a large hand on Tempest's head in apologleapedI watched as Tempest Kuronue's back and nods toward me.

" Lead the way, Kenpachi-taicho."

I took off running like a manic, with Kuronue keeping up. I noticed his nine tails flared dangerously as we came upon the battlefield.

" Shūgeki Kuronue!" I watched as Kuronue charged as Tempest drew her zanpakuto. The teamwork between herself, Kuronue, and Tsuyoi was flawless. I lose sight of them as I charge in myself.

I have seen Tempestt leap off Kuronue's back and take out four Hallows as she raced to Ikkaku's aid. One of the Hallows was sneaking up from behind him, unaware.

A scream of pain on the battlefield drew all of us toward the spot where a shocked Ikkaku stood looking on as the Hallow tried to sneak up on him, but at the last minute, Tempest threw herself at Ikkaku's back just as Hallow was about to bite Ikkaku's head off.

The Hallow had bit down on Tempest's right shoulder, and the bastard was trying to devour The Eleventh's Fox Princess. Kuronue came up, used one of his tails, and drew Tsuyoi. The zanpakuto spirit materialized as a gigantic orange-red nine-tailed demon fox, and it ripped the Hallow off its wielder and let out a ferocious roar as it devoured the Hallow.

The gigantic nine-tails roared ferociously as if challenging the rest of the horde as if, in answer, other nine-tails showed up and took out the rest.

Tempest looks up at her zanpakuto spirit and, in a commanding voice,

" Calm yourself, Tsuyoi. I am fine."

Tempest turns to Ikkaku with an apologetic look on her face.

"My body just moved on its own, but I am glad you're safe though."

Ikkaku had a horror-struck look written on his face as he asked,

"Why did you try to protect me knowing I had shunned you?"

Tempest would've answered if she hadn't fainted, and Tsuyoi had scooped her up and looked at Yumichika expectantly.

"My brother likes you because you were kind toward her, so he doesn't know the way to a place of healing," Kuronue said to Yumichika.

"Tsuyoi, how about shrinking to a normal size instead of trying to look so intimidating," Kuronue said to his brother in their language.

Tsuyoi shrinks down to his brother's size and looks over at Yumichika with a nod. Yumichika shunpo, but Tsuyoi catches up and grabs Yumichika, tosses him on his back with a gruff,

"Hang on, Peacock, just let me know where to go."

Kuronue looks over at the rest of the nine-tails and bows in appreciation. The other nine-tails nodded in acknowledgment and vanished just as they had appeared.

Kuronue then looked at the grief-stricken Eleventh Divisioners with incredible pity in his gold eyes as he smoothly shifted into his other form—a young man with fox ears, wearing a pure white shinigami uniform and a fox tail.

" I still remember when I found Tempest on the backstreets of Zaraki District 80, and she reminded me of Tsuyoi and myself. An orphan was left for dead, but this little girl was stubborn and tough. So, I raised her and trained her to defend herself if needed. Then my princess insisted on going to The Shinigami Academy, so I told her ok, knowing my brother Tsuyoi is among the zanpakuto spirits. We are the only family she ever knew. I watched her excel in both personal growth and intelligence."

Sighs.

"My Temp wanted nothing more than to join the Eleventh to be among strong and proud men. But some of you shunned her without knowing her, except for Yumichika. The temp didn't come here to be the only other female in the Eleventh but to become a part of something bigger."

Growls in Ikkaku's face through clenched teeth.

" The only reason I won't tear your fucking head off for treating Tempest the way you did is because, besides my brother and me. The Eleventh and everyone in it has become very precious to Tempest."

Nods toward me.

"Now, if you all will excuse me, I must ensure Tempest gets the care she needs and my brother isn't wreaking havoc."

I just stood there in shock at what I had learned about Tempest. Now I can see why her first name fits her so well. I could see a few of the boys following Kuronue, so I decided to follow them.

Two days later, Tempest was released from the Fourth. Kotetsu Isane Fukutaicho told me Tempest wasn't allowed to train or use her right side for about a month. So I did what seemed sensible: I made her stay home at the Ukitake Manor for a month. I knew "The Eleventh's Fox Princess" wouldn't listen, so I sent a butterfly to her guardian, and there it is.

I did miss the brat, though.

A month later, Ukitake taicho escorted Tempest back to my division. The boys and I were waiting for her at the gate. Tempest, upon seeing us, hid behind Ukitake.

" I know,w none of you want me here, so I,fKenpachi-taichi, and enough, Kenpachi-Taito, could you transfer me into another division?" I cut her off by lifting her over my left shoulder, nodding to her guardian, and hauling Tempest into the division.

I placed a very loud protesting Tempest down just outside the main office, and I began to scold her gruffly,

"I'd be the Gotei 13 biggest idiot and laughing stock if I cut you loose. So you're staying because you have been promoted to the sixth seat, mostly at the boy's insistence. So brat, your ass is staying here."

Tempest's jaw dropped open, and her emerald-green eyes widened ever so slightly. She looked up at me as if she didn't believe me. Yumichika pointed toward her office, and Kuronue smiled in his human form.

Tempest still didn't move, she just kept looking at me, Then, her eyes shifted to the other boys as if to make sure I wasn't lying, Kuronue came over and dragged her off to her office, smiling.

I just shook my head in disbelief with a soft smile as I prepared for my day.

Later that night, I watched Tempest sit in the window seat, eating and sipping mint tea. I could see the wheels in her little head turning.

Kuronue sat at her feet and very loudly said,

" Tempest, do you want to say something, or will you keep quiet for the moment."

I have seen the look of "shut the fuck up" etched across her face as she gives a heavy sigh,

" Kuronue, you, Tsuyoi, and I know I am tolerated except for Yumichika and Kenpachi-tacho, so why keep me here."

Ikkaku approached her, followed by his boyfriend, Kira Izuru, who hauled her out of the window seat and off to where the others were.

"You're not tolerated because you're our comrade, and you have proven yourself to all of us, especially to me, and if anyone messes with our "Fox Princess," they'll answer to all unceremoniously drop her onto Yumichika's lap as he poured her some fruit juice. Yumichika saw the slow blush as Tempest realized she was sitting on her close friend's lap. As he sat on his boyfriend's tried watched, Tempest tried to sc, ramble off Yumichikstoppedap, but Hisagi Shūhei stopped her with a soft smile.

"Stay Tempest, I don't mind one bit."

Yumichika hugged her close. Tempest burst into tears as she hid her face on his left shoulder.

I heard her mutter,

" I am finally home."

I smiled softly.

Yeah, brat you are, and I will keep you here for as long as I can."
