Neb: I do not own Ducktales, Fenton needed Vincent's help with destroying the vines around St. Canard. Webby is showing signs of having powers similar to Vincent's, what does it all mean. Continue to read and find out. I hope you all enjoy.
"F.O.W.L, the fiendish organization for world larceny is back. Long thought to of been eliminated by agents of Shush, they've risen again, led by a devious traitor," Mrs. Beakley begun her speech. She pointed towards an image of Bradford the C.E.O, or former C.E.O of McDuck Enterprises.
Vincent, Dewey, Donald, and Huey were seated at the mansion Staircase while she went over the situation. Webby stood by her side with a stern look on her face.
Vincent has never met Bradford Buzzard, and knows next to nothing about him. Granted Vincent's never made it a trip to visit Scrooge's Bin, or Company. He's only visited Library areas and Scrooge's in house office.
"F.O.W.L's next betrayal can come from anywhere or anyone," Mrs. Beakley continued.
"These are our top suspects," Webby added in as she flipped their board over revealing a white board with drawn characters on them. Lil Bulb, Uncle Donald, Fenton, Bluescreen Beagle, and Louie."
Donald seemed surprised to see his own name up there.
Vincent facepalmed at the list.
And Dewey said, "Dew-abolical." Causing Vincent to facepalm again.
"We have to be ready for another sneak attack," Mrs. Beakley went on, not phased by Donald trying to erase his own picture. "But with Webby's help I will train this family to become the best trained defense team of all time."
Donald was now stuck on the board for some reason spinning constantly.
"We will be prepared for any possibility," Mrs. Beakley Assured. "So what say you."
"Yeah," Huey and Dewey both cheered.
Donald finally fell over when the board stopped spinning.
"The traitor is probably not Donald," Mrs. Beakley figured.
Vincent dodged a couple silverware like spoons and forks that were thrown his direction as soon as he entered the kitchen. He saw Huey and Dewey were already pinned to the wall and the floor with spoons, and that it was Webby attacking them. "W-what's going on here?"
"Excellent Webby," Mrs. Beakley spoke up as she entered the kitchen. "I see you've already started. F.O.W.L can strike at anywhere at anytime. For your training today Webby will pretend to be a F.O.W.L agent. She will launch an attack on both of you when you least suspect it."
"Both of us?", Huey responded. "What about Vincent?"
"Vincent's already experienced in combat and in survival," Mrs. Beakley explained. "He will be helping me set defenses up around the mansion instead. Besides, you can't use Vincent and his magic to solve all your problems all the time."
"We hardly ever do that," Dewey pointed out.
"Then why did Webby throw silverware at me?", Vincent questioned.
"Oh did I?", Webby shrugged, causing Vincent to scowl back at her. She still had hard feelings about him leaving with Gizmoduck, and more importantly leaving her behind. It's not like Vincent wanted to leave Webby, he just did what he thought was right at the time.
"So Donald and Vincent will be helping me secure the mansion," Mrs. Beakley declared. "Training starts now."
"Oh this will be fun," Webby grinned as she ran over to hug the boys. "I am Webby Bringer of Death.."
Vincent then shrugged before following Mrs. Beakley. "So how much more secure can we make this mansion? Can't we just use the already established defense system against Santa Clause accept make it year round."
"Oh thanks for reminding me," Mrs. Beakley sighed. "We have to change that whole system into a new one, because Bradford more than likely is already familiar with that system."
"Ah, well we can get Fenton to work on that," Vincent figured as he pulled out his phone. Mrs. Beakley put her hand over his phone and shook her head.
"We are still looking at Fenton as a possible traitor," Mrs. Beakley explained. "His obsession with helping or improving Gyro's work makes him a potential spy."
"Wait we actually think he's a traitor," Vincent facepalmed. "I thought that was a joke."
"This is a serious time Vincent, we aren't joking. Ok Donald being a traitor was a joke, but that's aside the point."
"Louie and Lil Bulb?"
"Louie has branched off on his own schemes before when dealing with this families rivals," Mrs. Beakley explained. "I don't think he will directly betray us, but he won't inform us if he goes by his own plan. Lil Bulb has turned on us constantly. That is all."
So the day was filled up with Donald, Vincent, and Beakley working together to get new defenses up. There was lots of different spots in the manor Vincent didn't even know existed that they were taken to.
Earlier when Vincent was walking down the hallway to shred some documents in Scrooge's office he saw a black paper cut out of Webby, and a life size doll of Webby laying in the upstairs hallway. "Hey, pick up after yourself when your done torturing the boys!" Vincent added the paper cut out of Webby to the documents he was going to shred, and he pushed the life size doll inside the closet and reattached it's head. He took another look at it and felt a slight shiver from it. "She might be taking this one a little too far."
Huey tried to convince Beakley to call off the attack because it was distracting him from his own research of the missing Mysteries. But Mrs. Beakley wasn't listening to him, and the poor kid started running off the moment he realized there were places in the manor even he wasn't familiar with.
"I know it's wild right," Vincent called after him. "Hey Mrs. Beakley, maybe upsetting Huey and Dewey isn't the best option... well Dewey might be able to take what Webby throws his way like a champ, but isn't Huey the fragile one."
"That's the exact reason for this exercise Vincent," Mrs. Beakley assured him. "We can't afford to be fragile against an enemy that seems to keep returning from the shadows."
"But when I asked for you guys help against the Shadow Syndicate, we more or less forgot about them until they came back to pick a fight with me!"
"Vincent if I knew where the Shadow Syndicate or F.O.W.L was located, I wouldn't hesitate to storm those areas," Mrs. Beakley explained. "But we don't know where they are, so that means fortifying the home front. We encouraged you to stay here for that exact reason, because they were attacking wherever you were, not the other way around."
"Alright, fairs fair," Vincent admitted. "I know I can be reckless, but the kids are different. You're teaching them that fighting is their only option, not their last resort."
"I'll train them how I see fit," Mrs. Beakley decided. "I'm going to go check on them. Webby more than likely has defeated them already."
"Is this Bradford guy really worth all the trouble?", Vincent wondered as Donald was struggling with a latter in the background, more or less missing the conversation. "Mr. Elite gained the powers of a god and that didn't even trigger this response.
This whole situation ended with a fight on the roof between Webby and Beakley. At least that's the part that Vincent saw, as he was still helping Donald with defenses, now outside the manor. Donald was up on the latter and he managed to catch his nephews who were rolling down the side of the roof.
Vincent glowed blue and flew up there. "Stop!", Vincent yelled.
"Mrs. B, this has gone too far," Donald yelled.
At least that's what Vincent thought he was saying. It took a long time for Vincent to understand Donald's squawking.
"We have to keep them safe," Mrs. Beakley argued.
"But not like this," Donald shot back.
"You're supposed to be the rational one of us," Vincent yelled. "What's going to happen to this family if your just as reckless as the rest of us!"
"She's my Granddaughter, I'll determine what is best for her! We must be ready to fight!" Mrs. Beakley wiped a tear from her eye and then gotten in a fighting stance.
"If you hurt her, I'll blast you," Vincent warned.
"I know you will," Mrs. Beakley nodded before attacking Webby. But Vincent didn't need to blast her, because Webby managed to knock Mrs. Beakley off balance causing her to fall off the roof. Well she managed to catch herself on the side of it, and Vincent flew over to help the others pull her back on the roof.
"We won't get stronger by attacking the people we love," Webby explained.
"But F.O.W.L," Mrs. Beakley sighed.
"We're not F.O.W.L," Dewey reminded her. "We're family."
"The one thing that we know for sure is that we trust each other," Huey explained.
"And we'll look after each other," Vincent nodded. "And cover each others weaknesses."
"Webby," Mrs. Beakley begun. "I... I.."
Webby hugged Mrs. Beakley, followed by the rest of them hugging her. Her phone then started beeping and she checked it. "We need to get to the bin now."
The missing Mysteries were stolen. Gene the Genie, The Harp of Mervanna, The Fountain of Youth, some blueprints back at St. Canard for some multi dimensional weapon. Vincent tuned out that last one, scifi wasn't his forte, even though Cassandra got him stuck in his own Multiverse situation.
"Guess that's that then," Vincent admitted as he and Webby sat on the roof under the star lit night sky. "We traded my enemies for yours finally. I have to protect you guys just like you've been protecting me."
"Why? It's not like we've been doing a good job of it," Webby sighed.
"N-no Webby," Vincent groaned as he grabbed her shoulder. "You guys are the only reason I'm still here. I would be buried alive at the Temple of Helios, or a Shadow Syndicate base, or serving Rosina if it weren't for you guys. I know I got hurt along the way, but I'm not fragile."
"But you were left with the boys, and they couldn't do anything to help you," Webby reminded him. "You were left with all four of us on Halloween and I couldn't do anything to help you."
"Is that still eating you up?", Vincent sighed. "Nobody plans for Rosina, she got the better of Gizmoduck and Fenton's mom also. Barring the last time I fought the Shadow Syndicate, you've saved me from them every time. But, it's time I started rescuing you guys back. I'm the older brother, and I'm tired of being pitied."
"I'm not pitying you, I'm looking out for you, you jerk," Webby yelled. "I've been training my whole life to fight people like F.O.W.L, I don't expect you to throw yourself in harms way every time a new enemy shows up! I just want to be there to help you, like you helped me."
"Webby, you've been doing all the saving," Vincent reminded her. "Phantom Blot, Britt, the time I got captured by the Shadow Syndicate, the time Glomgold almost blew us all up, the painting! Who's been the one jumping in to fight every time."
"It's not out of pity though," Webby assured him. "I want to be just like you. A cool adventurer, who does magical quests, and works in a magical store, with a magical mentor, and a magical life! Besides, you've saved my life multiple times also. Mr. Elite was going to dispose of me if you didn't call me your sister when we first met. Not to mention when Britt's moon cannon overheated, you were there with a healing spell. Plus in the painting, you were the one to both find the way out and stop the painting from blowing up! Besides I wasn't there for any of the times that Quinn was there."
"I wasn't there for any of the Magica situations," Vincent pointed out. "Not really anyways, there was a powered down brain damaged version of myself the last time. But when Lena was having her dreams attacked and the day of the Eclipse, where was I? Heck, I wasn't even there for you during the moon invasion, I got rounded up with the rest of our forces!"
"A lot of experienced adventurers were defeated by Lunaris!"
"Why are you yelling at me?"
"Why are you yelling at me?", she shot back!
The two of them glared at each other, but Vincent wasn't going to let this become another stare eyes contest. "Alright, you win Webby. I get caught up in my own way some times, and I shouldn't have left you behind. But, I'm not going to actively take you out to danger. That would be wrong."
"I can handle it," Webby assured. She saw Vincent was getting ready to get off the roof and she grabbed his arm. "Vincent, I can handle it. You already know I'm a good fighter who's well read up on all sorts of stuff, you don't have to leave me behind if a situation is too dangerous."
"I don't want to leave you behind Webby," Vincent assured. "And I know your strong, but lately I've been worried. That the only reason you stick around is because you think I'm weak. I know I'm not as durable as Scrogge, Donald, or Launchpad when it comes to taking damage, but I'm a good fighter as well."
"Prove it," Webby decided as she got in a fighting stance.
"I think we may have gone back on the lesson we learned today. About not fighting the ones we love."
"This is different," Webby assured him. "Besides, you can fly and catch me if you actually beat me, or fly and prevent yourself from falling."
"Webby how is this any different from Mrs. Beakley's behavior?"
"She was fighting to prepare us for an attack on the manor," Webby reminded him. "We are proving who should be protecting who between the two of us."
Vincent sighed before getting up into his own stance. "To avoid any future confusion, or arguments, you didn't force me to do this. I agreed to fight you."
The two of them glared at each other before charging. Webby did a couple jump kicks making Vincent back up as he blocked her.
He couldn't use magic, or else he'd admit that Webby was stronger between the two of them. Instead he was getting ready for grappling. He wasn't as skilled as Webby, but he was still bigger, and more experienced. After watching Beakley almost fall off the roof, he also knew he couldn't be careless with this terrain, Webby had a lower center of gravity, so she was able to maintain balance on the roof easier.
"Why are you holding back?", Webby wondered. "Still worried your going to hurt me."
"Yes," Vincent admitted before tackling her. The two of them rolled down the roof now, until Vincent caught the gutter. He held onto Webby in his other hand and then sighed before flying back up to the roof with her. "There you go, the big brother wins this time."
"W-what?" Webby's hands glowed blue and she pushed him back in frustration causing Vincent to get knocked back. He caught himself midair and floated back down.
"W- Webby? What was that?"
"N-never mind," Webby responded. "Yeah, you win Vincent. Good old big brother. I'm going to go sleep."
"Wait Webby, why do you have magic."
"Leave it alone!"
Vincent stared at her in confusion as she left the roof by entering the attic. Vincent flew in after her, but she was already down the latter and to her room. "What just happened?"
