{Blake's perspective}
I took a deep breath in, a lot has happened over the past week alone. Triton has been healing rapidly, which he refuses to answer as to how. Illia confronted me and tried to persuade me not to go public with our findings. And trying to convince her otherwise might seem out of the question for now.
Not to mention I got some intel thanks to the scroll that Triton swiped from Illia that there are plans to attack Haven academy in Mistral and overthrow Seanna. As much as I don't want to go anywhere my father insisted that we get the faunus to join us in defending Haven. "It'll help the human/faunus relations," he said. "It won't mean much from an old geezer like me. You have to make a speech to rally the faunus." He said.
Little does he remember: I don't speak publicly anymore. I'm going to have to find a way to shake off my anxieties.
"He is right, you know." Triton said right behind me.
"About…?"
He gestured to the outside as he explained "You were there to witness the atrocities of that group of terrorists-"
"Misguided minds." I corrected.
"... Right." He cleared his throat "That group of misguided minds did to Beacon. It is only right."
I glanced back outside to the crowd that my father gathered.
"Sun and I will be right behind you to deal with hecklers."
I took a deep breath through my nose to prepare myself "Ok. I'm ready."
Sun joined us as we walked towards the podium.
My dad introduced me as he stepped off to the side with Triton to my left and Sun to my right.
I started my speech by addressing my perspective of the battle of Beacon. Between the White Fang attacking huntsman, the overrun of the Grimm, and the Dragon that arrived to battle the Wyvern.
In the middle of my speech to call our faunus to ensure that Haven doesn't have the same fate. When Illia cut in
"And why should we help the humans?!" Illia yelled.
She then stepped her way out of the crowd "My parents were killed and no one reached out to help me, so why should we help them?!"
"Have you tried to ask?" Triton asked.
Illia was taken aback by Triton's question.
"Hm… I suppose not." Triton said. "Because I'm sure if you did, someone would have offered."
I could see the rage in her face building "You think it's that simple? Humans have killed us for thousands of years. They kept us as-"
"Let me guess, as slaves too?" Triton asked.
She seemed furious now. "Yeah, And your race keeps us suppressed!"
"Not from what I have seen." Triton replied "I have only seen a few places with signs that most of us would never condone. And those who say they do not serve faunus end up turning away if they have a friend who also is a faunus. Only the old and the stupid are the ones with hatred in their heart."
She threw her hands to the sides and yelled "And yet-"
Triton pointed at her and yelled "LET ME FINISH Μικρό κορίτσι πανίδα!"
She stayed silent. As did most of the crowd, all shocked along with me with that other language.
Triton cleared his throat "Anyway, if I may continue: I have no idea why your group of… misguided minds think violence is the only answer when it comes to racism. Do you honestly think that it will all go away? Nay, it will only start a cycle of violence that will never end."
Illia went silent.
"You will do well to remember; Violence breeds violence." So now, if you will please. Let Blake here speak." Triton asserted. "Otherwise I shall remove you from this crowd myself."
"You don't-" I tried to interject
"DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR!?" Triton yelled.
The crowd backed away aside from Illia.
Triton then looked back at me "You may continue."
I gave a nod and continued the speech as I intended. But the way he spoke… It's almost like he knew it from first hand experience.
That raises more questions. Was he enslaved himself?
Has he witnessed these atrocities?
And what was that language he spoke?
… What is he hiding?
{Justin/Achilles' perspective}
"In order to unlock your semblance, you need to be in the right mindset." Weiss taught as I sat on my knees while she paced around me. "Seeing as your eyes keep turning red every time you're either angry, or really enjoying slaying Grimm, I suspect it's more of a combat based semblance."
"And you got all of that based on just the changing of my eye color?" I asked out of curiosity.
She gave me a confident nod "Exactly, it happened again last night when you were telling that woman off."
I raised my hand "Please, I've had 3 years worth of pent up aggression to Karens like that."
She raised an eyebrow inquisitively.
"It's a nickname that service workers give to people, more specifically old entitled women, who think they're gonna get their way just because they raise their voice and speak to the manager. Oh and they've never been told no all their life." I explained.
She rolled her eyes at me "Anyway, getting back on subject, some who unlocked their semblances did so during meditation."
She then sat on her knees across from me "So let's try to unlock it. Close your eyes."
"Ok…" I changed the way I sat to cross-legged with my hands together. I took a deep breath.
"Focus on why you want to fight. Why do you want to protect those who can't? And most importantly, focus on yourself."
I tried to do as she said, when I saw something red in the distance of the darkness. It got closer to me. Soon I could see a face, one that I've been afraid of for a long time. A white haired version of me. Alongside Adam Taurus, ominously behind him.
My eyes shot open with heavy breaths.
Weiss rushed to my aid, she tried to put her hands on my shoulders. I batted them away. "I'm fine, I just… saw something."
"What did you see?"
I glanced out the window, I can still see him in my reflection. Smiling at me. "... a nuisance." I answered.
"What do you hope to accomplish here?" Whitely said off to my left.
I shot my head towards him and answered "Nunya."
He rolled his eyes "Anyways, I was just passing by, figured you two could need something. Considering you're both trapped in here."
I fired my grapple hook on the door handle. I then answered "We don't need anything. Now leave."
He put his hand on his chest similar to when I mock him and act offended "Why I'm just being polite." Whitely said mocking me in the process "Why would you smack my gracious-"
I then slammed the door on him by retracting my grapple at a fast rate while also pulling on it.
I hope it broke his nose.
Weiss then glanced at me and said "Not saying he didn't deserve that, but you could have waited until he was out of the doorway."
"He had it coming." I replied with my grapple now fully retracted and back in my arm.
She slowly shook her head at me "See, that's what I'm talking about. You let your anger control your actions."
I rolled my eyes "Yeah sure…"
Klein knocked on the door a moment later. "May I enter?"
"You may Klein." Weiss answered.
Klein entered and shut the door behind him. He had a tray with hot cocoa for me and I assume Coffee for Weiss.
I gave Klein a smile as I grabbed my cup "Thanks man. I was starting to turn into an Achilles-cicle."
Weiss rolled her eyes "You're just being dramatic." She then refocused herself towards Klein "Any updates?"
Klein nodded "You two are to leave tonight, there is a freighter that's heading out on one last delivery before Atlas closes its borders."
Weiss nodded, "Thank you Klein."
"You're welcome Ms. Schnee, Mr. Vermillion." Klein then bowed politely to both of us before he exited the room.
"I'm gonna gather my things." I told her for no particular reason.
Hours pass with trial and error to unlock my semblance with no luck. Seems my semblance is as stubborn as I am…
Anyway we exited Weiss' room, me with my laptop bag and weapons, Weiss with her case, and Myrtenaster on her hip.
Though if I had to complain my boots along with Weiss' heels made the hallways a bit too echo-y in my opinion. I'm surprised we weren't caught.
We passed by Jacques' office as we overheard Jimmy tell Jacques that the borders were closed and retracting all personnel from other continents and kingdoms. Before he got to the door Weiss used a gravity glyph to hold the door shut temporarily.
We then made our way to the library where Klein told us to meet after he split off to deal with Little Shitly.
He opened a secret passage and told us "Keep your voices down." With his eyes red.
Weiss gave him a hug.
After that he told us to proceed down the stairs.
Before He closed it on us to deal with Jacques I told him "If he fires you for helping us…"
He gave me a reassuring smile with his eyes turning back to amber "Don't worry Achilles, I'm not worried."
I nodded, "I'm sure with your skillset you can easily get another job."
Klein softly sighed "Thank you for your reassurance."
He then shut the door on us.
I eventually caught up to Weiss who found a hidden door to the hanger. She waited for me. How ladylike of her.
"You have your bribe money right?" I asked even though I knew the answer.
"Yep." She answered "You still have your wits?"
I shrugged "Always." I answered.
"Good." She replied. "We're gonna need it."
She opened the door and as we snuck around we found our pilot.
Now I could try to figure out how to fly one of the Mantas. But that'd take too long and it'd be a matter of time before we would be discovered. And I'm not good at the jargon despite all of the aviation documentaries I saw.
So the next best thing is to hitchhike a cargo airship.
I.E. everyone's favorite pilot. I'm gonna call him Mike.
Weiss and I found him just as he was about to board his craft. I wish they gave the name of this aircraft. So fuck it, I'm gonna do it. This cargo ship will be called C-003. And the military one will be the C-M003 by me for now on.
Anyway, Weiss managed to convince him to let us in with a hefty sum. And I didn't have to use any of my charisma.
So we settled in, our pilot took off. And like that we were back in the air. And I cannot get over that jet engine noise…
I pulled my scroll out to make a call.
"Who are you calling at this time? You do know they can track that right?"
I waved her off. "It'll be quick, I just need a fix on their location."
{Aaron's perspective}
We headed out once again, this time the villagers were more than happy to help us attach a trailer to Bumblebee so the rest of us could relax.
I still kept a hold of the map because I don't trust Jaune, and every so often Yang calls out and asks where she needs to turn.
"Go left," I told her.
"Thank you!" she replies.
It was mostly silent, which feels odd all things considering.
"So…" I started.
Jaune and Pyrrha turned their gaze at me.
"... Does anyone want to start a conversation? Like how bad Achilles' singing was the other day?"
"It was fine." Pyrrha said
"It certainly didn't make my ears bleed like you said it would." Ren commented. "Though he could use some work on the tempo."
"Yeah, you were way harder on him than any of us." Ruby chimed in.
I shrugged "Well he said so himself to me. And when he tried it hurt a lot the first time I heard it."
"Well yeah, it takes years of practice to sing as well as Weiss." Nora added in.
I shrugged, "You do have a point." I then changed the subject "Anyway, So one thing that's been on my mind lately: What are you all into in terms of music?"
Ruby was the first to speak up "I like dance music."
That honestly surprised me "Really? I thought you'd be into rock or something."
She shrugged.
"Pop, definitely," Yang answered, keeping most of her attention on the road ahead as she should.
I turned to JNPR
Jaune started "Well… I sometimes listen to country music."
"Really? I never would have thought you did." Pyrrha noted.
Jaune scratched the back of his head "Well… it just speaks to me. Even though some of it is depressing. What about you Pyrrha?"
"Um… I can't quite decide. It all sounds… good." She answered.
I'll have to introduce her to indie music, maybe she'll like that.
"I like Jazz!" Nora answered.
"Classic." Ren answered.
"Cool." I answered with a nod. "I'm glad to know your tastes in music."
"What about you?" Yang asked.
"As if you need to ask. Rock." I answered.
She gave a nod. "You're right, I should have known, especially with what happened on Mount Glenn."
JNPR turned to me. "Yeah, that's the part I never understood. That song you played, I didn't recognize it. And there's no band that made that song either." Jaune said.
"It's an underground band. Like, they don't make any more songs kind of underground." I answered.
I then got a call from Justin, unintentionally perfect timing on his part. "Hang on, I've got to take this." I told them before I could lie about any more answers.
I answered the call with a "You sounded horrible."
Yeah yeah I know, I'm in a cargo airship at the moment, you almost to Mistral?
That fast? It's only been a few weeks since we last had contact. "I'd say we're a couple days out."
Really? Goddamnit…
"Wait where are you?" I asked.
Just getting to the border of Atlas Airspace.
"Is it really that slow?"
Well it's no Boeing 747-8 Justin mumbled. Jaune and Pyrrha are nearby?
"Yeah, why?"
I just want to ask them a question. Put me on speaker.
I have a feeling I'm gonna regret this. I placed him on speaker. "Ok you're on speaker. Behave." I told him as I took a sip of my water bottle I bought at the previous town.
When have I ever not? Anywho Jaune, how's your sex life?
I took a spit take.
Jaune started stammering "What-!? I-I-Ah-uh" And proceeded to get stuck like that.
Pyrrha on the other hand was blushing like crazy and couldn't look anyone in the eye.
"Achilles I swear to whatever God you believe in I'm gonna smack the hell out of you if I ever see you again!" I yelled.
My job is done, bu-bye~ he then hung up.
I glanced at Jaune who still seemed to not be responding.
"Pyrrha, can I see your sword for a second?" I asked.
She gave me a puzzled look "Ok but why?" she asked as she handed it to me.
As I took it I explained. "Just an experiment. If this worked on me before, it can work on him." I then clocked him over the head by the handle of Pyrrha's sword. I know that Milo in its sword form is supposed to resemble a gladius, which was a primary stabbing weapon, but it doesn't hurt to try.
Jaune then bellowed "OW!"
I gave it back to Pyrrha and she didn't say another word. "Here's your sword back Pyrrha, glad to see the experiment worked."
"Let's just keep going."
Yang then spoke up "Yeah, let's. Fork up ahead, where do I turn to my navigator?"
I unfolded the map and took a quick glance. "Go left."
"Thank you!" Yang said as she turned left.
This trip reminded me of the fact we may still have a certain scorpion faunus following behind us. But I'm not entirely sure.
{Jocelyn/Rose's perspective}
Another day, another meeting with Salem.
Everyone seemed relaxed for the time being. Aside from Cinder who seemed to kept glaring at me.
I didn't let her bother me.
Watts was busy with his computer analyzing my routes and plotting where the vault is.
Tyrian was busy sharpening his weapons. Giggling psychotically to himself.
Hazel had his eyes shut keeping quiet.
Then Salem walked into the room. Well more glided in as she took her place at the head. She turned to me first. Well Rose… I expect you have gathered results.
I gave her a nod "I did my lady. I found the vault in the kingdom of Atlas."
She turned to Watts. Any details? She asked.
Watts acknowledged her without looking up from his scroll "From what the locator I placed on Rose here, it's somewhere in the heart of that hunk of rock underneath Atlas. But there's also one other thing I need to ask…"
Watts turned to me "Why did you visit the Schnee manor so many times? Surely there weren't any "luxuries" that you wanted to steal from that Lein-pincher Jacques."
I shrugged at him "I was scouting. I heard the Heiress made her return to Atlas with a plus one. And I wanted to see for myself"
Salem seems interested in what I had to say Go on…
I turned to her as I addressed everyone "Apparently my ex is still alive. Which is unfortunate for me."
"And here I thought that you killed him." Rose." Cinder snidely commented.
Salem raised her hand at Cinder. Then as Cinder leaned back in her seat in a huff, Salem addressed me. So the Vermilion still lives…
I snapped my head towards Cinder as I told her "So did I."
"Stubborn people are often hard to kill." Hazel commented.
"Shall I take care of him?" Tyrian asked excitedly.
Tyrian. Sit. Salem commanded Tyrian like a dog.
Tyrian obeyed and sat back in his chair.
She then turned to me. I trust there will be no mistakes nextime. Correct?
"No, my queen. I will not hesitate to end his life." I lied.
She seemed to have bought it. Good…
