Chapter 37 Eyes

Moana's boat and the Bad Guys' boat sailed on for a few more hours to reach the Garden of Eyes. On the way there Chelsea asked Moana a important question.
"You want one of us to take the heart, when we reach the Garden of Eye?"
"What do you mean?" Asked Moana.
"I mean do you think it's ok to leave the heart up here with you alone. Me, Ruby, and Maui will be underwater with Shark and Piranha, which leaves you up alone on the surface with your pets, Wolf, Snake, and Webs. They might try and pull something and take the heart from you, while the rest of us are away." Said Chelsea.
"I see your point, but I don't know if the Bad Guys actually know we have the heart." Said Moana.
"That's true, but they seem well informed considering they know about the Instrument of Destruction, where to find it, and what is guarding it." Said Ruby.
"They must be getting some kind of help from somewhere." Said Chelsea.
"I think I should continue you hanging onto the heart for now. The ocean trusted it with me, so I'll look after it. If the Bad Guys try something I'll defend it, sail away, or figure out some way to signal you." Said Moana.
"Well hopefully nothing bad happens." Said Ruby.
"The Bad Guys are nice for the most part, but they are thieves after all." Said Chelsea.
"And I'm a legendary demigod and you're all legends in the making. Don't sweat it. We can handle some thieves if they try to pull something." Said Maui.
"Alright." Said Moana.
Soon the two boats arrived at a spot that was close to the Garden of Eyes. Moana was curious about the strange place and creature, so she leaned over the boat's edge put her face under the water and peered down. The view was murky, but Moana could make out the shape of something big on the ocean floor down below. It at first seemed like six large weird bobbing plants with strange round yellow orbs at the end, with a dozen smaller versions of the same plant around them surrounding a large circular plant. Moana then looked closely at one of the six large orbs and saw that it wasn't just a orb, but a very large eye! She quickly brought her head back out of the water and shook herself a bit with fright.
"You see it?" Asked Maui.
"I did. It was a big freaky plant thing with lots of eyes!" Said Moana.
"Then we're in the right place." Said Wolf.
"That thing can't reach up to the surface and grab us can it?
"No the Garden of Eyes usually just sticks to prey that's underwater and that gets too close to it's territory." Said Snake.
"Alright let's gets to it." Said Ruby before getting into the water and transforming into her giant kraken form.
Ruby put her right hand level first with Moana's boat. Maui and Chelsea got onto the hand and Ruby put her hand over to the Bad Guys' boat allowing Shark and Piranha to climb on.
"Now remember not to make direct eye contact with any of the eyes." Said Wolf.
"Got it." Said Ruby as she cuffed her left hand over her right hand to cover Maui, Chelsea, Shark, and Piranha.
Ruby then activated her camouflage ability going invisible before she went underwater. The water swelled a tiny bit indicating her going underwater and the others on the boats just had to simply wait for Ruby's return.
Ruby swam through the water as carefully and as stealthy as she could to not disturb or cause any ripples in the water. She got closer the the ocean floor and she could finally get her first real good look of the Garden of Eyes. It truly was a bizarre place and creature. The six long stalks and smaller ones looked like a twisted mix of plant and a bobbit worm. The big stalks were as half as wide as Ruby's giant kraken body, but taller in height, with a mix of thorns and crustacean legs on the side. Both the big stalks and little stalks were topped with yellow glowing eyes. Ruby saw what appeared to be a temple imbedded in the side of a mountain on the floor with a large door at the front a dozen yards away from the stalks. She carefully swam and navigated herself around the eyes being sure not to look at the eyes or touch any of them.
One eye gently swayed a little in front of Ruby and she was forced to stop. Ruby waited as the eye looked in one direction at something. The kraken glanced at what the eye was looking at and was surprised to see a large shark swimming in the area. The eye focused on the shark and swayed to get into it's path so the shark ended up looking into the eye. The shark seemed to freeze up in the water as the eye drifted close to it and grabbed it in it's long limbs on the side trapping the creature. Ruby watched in horror as the eye carried the shark to the large round center of the eyes. At first glance the center appeared to be a large plant, but then it opened itself up to be a gigantic open mouth full of sharp teeth capable of swallowing a giant kraken or sea monster! The eye dropped the shark into the mouth and it was devoured in a instant!
Ruby shuddered at the sight and quickly continued on to the temple. She reached the door and noticed that it was big enough for a giant kraken to pass through and that it was covered by some kind of blue sparking energy that must have been some kind of protection spell. Ruby noticed two keyholes in the door that must have been for the keys.
"Alright we're at the door, quickly unlock it." Whispered Ruby as she opened her hands up a little.
Chelsea and Piranha quickly swam out of Ruby's hands and headed to the door with the keys. Maui swam out transformed into a large squid followed by Shark. Piranha stuck the tentacle key in one keyhole and Chelsea stuck the fin key in the other keyhole. They turned their keys and the blue energy disappeared. The doors slowly opened and Ruby and the others quickly swam into the temple. The doors closed behind them and the Garden of Eyes continued on with it's business unaware that someone had entered the temple.
One challenge was passed, but another still remained.
