She gazes at the spikey haired saiyan sat in front of her, a smile on her lips.
She should ask about his newest transformation...
She should. As the leader of the time patrol.
But...
But...
A large part of her... doesn't want to ruin this...
One of the only times she can be around someone without them tiptoeing around her position... or have them wonder why she isn't working.
She doesn't want to reveal that she's been lying to him this entire time... that she's not who she said she was.
She doesn't want to ruin one of her handful of true friendships...
Everyone is always... so careful around her... nervous... they choose their words and are stiff... the only people she can truly relax around and have them be just as relaxed when they speak to her... is Goku and her twin... oh! And Bulma... then maybe even her, but she's not around often, being in another universe and all.
She's trunk's direct boss... and she might have overblown his 'crimes' of building a time machine... technically that's not a crime because there was no rule against that in the first place... because nobody ever would have thought it was possible for a mortal to do so. But as a result he seems to try and avoid her ire.
Vegeta... isn't the type of person you would call a 'close friend'. He's too prickly.
The rest act like she's above them... it... kind of hurts.
Her gaze sways over the saiyan in front of her, talking about his life before coming to Era Gaia. His tail swaying lazily behind him as he closes his eyes for a moment, taking a sip of his drink.
"And, well, there was a cave behind the waterfall that I was hurled into. I managed to get a handle on my Ki and suppressed it to miniscule levels, sending a Ki blast downstream. That caused the beasts to chase after it and leave me alone long enough for me to lick my wounds and get a zenkai... after that? They weren't really that much of a challenge for me unless they attacked in a massive pack. I kept that place as my home for the duration I lived there. It was really quite nice."
There's a deep ache in her chest as she looks over him.
She's... lying to him...
They're not friends... they can't be with her lying like this.
"What's wrong?" Scallion questions, there's a slight flush to his cheeks, clearly buzzed from their drinking.
This might actually be the first time he's ever actually gotten this dunk before...
"Nothing." Chronoa replies. "Its- It's nothing, really."
"Your Ki is in complete disarray." He snorts. "Clearly something's wrong."
"..."
"..."
Wait... What?
He blinks twice, seemingly realizes what he just said.
He downs his current glass and stands up. "I'll be right back. I'm going to the bathroom."
She watches the Saiyan place his hand upon his forehead as he walks towards the bathroom.
He...
Can sense her energy...
But she... has god Ki...
That-
What?
Her ears strain briefly as she tries to listen in.
She hears running water as he seem to stand over the sink. "Damn damn damn... I'm never drinking again... I hate this blurry feeling... this lack of control... I- oh right... can't I just-"
His slightly slurred and buzzed speech vanishes in an instant. "Biokinesis... once more... overpowered..."
His power spikes briefly, then he lets out a long sigh. "Damn it... I... I just want things to be normal... to stay the same... maybe she'll forget? Maybe she won't notice? Or ignore it? I don't want our hangouts to end... ffff-"
*Sigh*
"Alright. One of two options... I go out there and act like nothing happened. Or... I just say fuck it and lean into change. I mean... potential super saiyan five. Ki sense... things are changing. Maybe I should just... ask?"
'Ask what?' The kai ponders.
Eventually Scallion returns, taking a seat across from her yet again. He has sobered up. His... biokinesis?
She really should ask about that as well... but oh well.
"So..." He begins quietly as she takes a sip from her drink. "Are you dating anyone?"
She devolves into a fit of hacking coughs.
I watch the disguised Kai coughing to herself. My finger taps on the table slightly as I look away, mouth a flat line.
Alright. I'll admit... not my finest or most articulative moment.
But... over the past couple of months... I can fully admit that I do think I've gained feelings for her.
"That- wh-" the girl sputters. *Ahem.* "I... didn't expect you to ask that."
I can see a red blush creep along her face. "N-No... I'm not at the moment."
There's an underlying hint of shame...
So, she's never dated as well.
"Then... would you? Ah..." I begin quietly.
Her blush intensifies.
"I... w-"
She takes a deep breath and exhales, a frown tugging at her lips as she looks down at the table. "I don't think that's a good idea... I've been lying to you this entire time, after all."
"I know." I state.
"Wh- you know?! When- h-how?!"
"I figured it out the morning after we first met, frankly." I admit with a small shrug, the faintest of smiles on my lips. "You've let a couple things slip here and there... the past six months have only made me even more sure."
"You-" she begins. "You really read that much into things?!"
"Of course I did." I smile. "You... are probably among the only people I care about... you know that pre-destruction Saiyan relations are... practically nonexistent. Cold at worst and colleagues at best. You are probably the only person I've felt any real attachment to, so I wanted to respect you and your time by taking you seriously."
"I do know that you're a Kai... and I am fairly certain I know who you are... and I understand... really. I understand why you'd take on a disguise and I understand why you'd want a normal relationship with someone."
Her eyes widen slightly as I continue.
"And I know that in the time that we've known each other, I think my feelings for you have progressed beyond friends... and I'm sorry if that makes you uncomfortable. I never said anything because I didn't want anything to change. For you to get weirded out and leave, or for things to get awkward."
The girl seems slightly embarrassed, shrinking in on herself, her voice comes out in a small squeak. "You're right. I... sort of felt the same way, there's some things I felt like I had to ask you, but I also didn't want to ruin what we had."
Ow. My heart. It felt like someone squeezed it right there.
"Wairu always said I had a thing for Saiyans." She whispers, seeming mortified that she is revealing that to me judging by the scarlet blush.
"We should probably clear the air between us, Chro." I begin quietly.
"I-" she whispers. "Yeah... you aren't... scared of me?"
"I mean, if I made you mad, sure, I'd probably be a little frightened. But... hey. I'm a saiyan. And you know how saiyans like feisty and combative women. That's just another point in your favor, honestly."
She pouts slightly. "If we're going to continue... I don't want to lose this... I don't want you to be stiff and tense around me."
"Toki... I've been one hundred percent certain of your identity for a good four months now." I reply with a half-lidded stare. "Don't you think we're beyond the point of 'tense awkwardness'?"
"..."
"When I'm not putting my deeper innermost feeling out in the open, at least." I amend after a moment, giving the girl a weak smile.
She takes a deep breath, then exhales. "Alright. Then business first... if you don't go back to the easy-going guy you were before this that I've grown to care for... I'll be mad at you."
Her expression hardens, becoming more serious.
I match her seriousness, straightening slightly.
"How... did you sense my Ki?" She eventually asks.
I hold up my hand, palm facing upwards. "I started generating this... strange... Ki a while back... it's personally why I wanted Ki control lessons."
A flickering and shaky orb appears above my palm. It twitches, slightly fizzling, before I clench my fist, snuffing it out.
"God Ki?!" The girl whispers, eyes growing wide. "How- what- that doesn't make any sense!"
"There was a legend back home." I admit after a moment. "Ancient. Forgotten to most."
"They say that when five good hearted saiyans give their energy to a sixth... a saiyan god will be born."
She gazes at my hand for a long moment.
"That... hm..." She seems to think for a long moment. "And you used this to enhance your super saiyan four form?"
"I did... I can also do it for Super Saiyan."
"I see." She whispers. "So... it's not a real super saiyan five, then?"
"I gave it some thought." I admit after a moment. "And... technically no... it's more akin to that 'full powered' super saiyan four state and I'm cheating with this much more powerful and dense energy and bringing to even greater heights. But I fully believe five is possible. Just currently out of my reach."
"Do you think you could teach the form to others?" She asks. "Goku and Vegeta would benefit drastically from such a form."
"That's tough." I admit. "Maybe? They might gain something similar if I gave them energy... or if enough saiyans tried to supercharge them... if they could then take that form for themselves at a later date through their own strength? That's up for debate."
"How'd you learn magic?"
"I... don't know, actually." I admit. "Just sort of something that's been happening to me over the past year or so... It started with healing. Then it slowly expanded... I've actually got a small pocket dimension attached to myself that I've been using to test the more... dangerous... applications of my power, such as turning super saiyan four for the first time."
"Beyond that... this little dimension of mine has materials that I've personally never seen before. Here."
I hold out a hand, several nuggets of ore clattering down onto the table.
"This is everything I've found." I admit.
The woman blinks twice, looking over the materials in front of her.
"May I?" She eventually asks.
"Sure. Take it to whoever." I shrug. "I don't really mind. It's kind of useless to me anyways. I've also got a ring that teaches people magic... if that's a thing you're interested in."
The woman freezes. "Wait... what?"
A small crackling flame appears in my hand, and a gentle light in the other. "If they touch the condensed energy on the ring, they learn both of these spells instantly... in addition to gaining a spark of magical power to make use of."
"You- you could give any Saiyan the ability to heal themselves?!" She whispers.
"It has a cooldown of about a week."
"No- that- that doesn't matter. " she shakes her head. "ANY person who touches the ring? Can I... see it?"
A ring appears on my finger, the girl's eyes widening slightly. "Where did you even find this?!"
"It appeared inside my pocket space... a lot of things have been doing that." I admit.
She looks briefly concerned, her hand coming to her chin. "May I?"
"Sure." I shrug. "Once more. It's doing me no good... and while I do tend to use it as a method to recharge my energy... that's only for dangerous situations. Like the attack a few months back."
She reaches out, finger hovering over the orb.
She taps it, flinching back slightly as she seems to get shocked.
She recovers quickly, tilting her head and closing her eyes. "As a Kai... I'm no stranger to magic... these two spells are... a little lackluster... but I do see some potential in them... especially considering how easy it is to learn."
Her eyes light up slightly. "Hey. Scallion... are you happy here in Rosemary town?"
"It's... fine, I guess. Better than the big cities." I admit after a few seconds.
There's a brief hesitation on her face, she seems to be building up the courage to say something. "Would... you like to come live in the time nest? I-I mean Conton City? Look I know it's a city, but- I-I mean, the city's not so bad if you can afford it... I can cover the rend and- like-"
"Isn't that only for like... the top of the top time patrol? And the likes of the 'Important' figures in history? I doubt I'm really strong enough to really justify all this favoritism."
"Well... isn't a Saiyan who can use God Ki and Magic an important figure in history?" She asks, causing my eyes to widen slightly.
"Sure." I shrug. "Then maybe we could hang out without all the disguising?"
"Yes!" She grins, if she's answering my question or is simply excited at me agreeing... I'm unsure.
She stands up, gathering the ore samples in her arms. "Oh! There's so much that needs to be done! First, I'll need to drop these off with Bulma, get her to make a capsule house, update your access, and so many more things!"
She seems... happy.
She looks like she's about to rush off, only to pause.
She turns around slowly, walking back over.
She abruptly leans forwards and plants a kiss on my cheek. "I-I'll see you soon."
With that she abruptly vanishes leaving me slightly flustered.
She didn't pay for her drinks yet...
The corners of my mouth turn upwards. 'Oh well. I think I can cover it this time.'
Pov: Elsewhere.
"BULMA!" *SLAM*
A blue haired woman's entire body twitches backwards as she brings her hand to her chest, turning towards the door.
"HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU PEOPLE NOT TO DO THAT?!" The woman screams.
She blinks twice, noticing who exactly she is shouting at. "Oh. Hey Chronoa."
She goes back to what she was doing. "Did another time machine break or something?"
She notices a slight flush to the pink girl's cheeks. 'huh?'
"Nope! Someone I know just found some metals and wanted to see if I could make use of them!"
"Someone you know... huuuuh? Could it be that... Scallion was it?"
The kai flinches, causing Bulma to smirk victoriously.
"H-How-"
"Wairu and I talk." Bulma admits. "Still. Give it here. I'll take a look."
The blue haired woman can only stare as several minerals are placed on a nearby table. "Huh... that is..."
She walks over, picking up a coppery metal and looking over it.
"Well. Only one thing left to do!"
She brings it over to a large scanner, placing the metal inside.
Waves of light seem to wash over the metal causing her to blink owlishly at the results. "Its carbon content is... shockingly high... and the material itself seems to be quite durable... strange... it would be a perfect fit for iron to create steel... said steel might even be a tiny bit superior to the steel we use regularly."
"Alright now I am really interested." She goes to the next metal.
"This... doesn't make any sense!" Bulma frowns, gazing at a little black nugget of metal. "It's... as durable as Katchin!"
Chronoa's eyebrows shoot upwards.
Katchin is probably one of the hardest materials that exist. Most buildings here are made of it- as remaking dozens of buildings every time school children get into slight scuffle could get annoying... but even that has its limits.
It's more stone than a true metal. It can be used to reinforce glass, but the overall strength is compromised considerably.
FAR more durable than normal glass, but it breaks like glass if you would compare it to normal Katchin.
Being a stone-like substance means that it has some limitations... mostly malleability.
The fact that this metal here is on par with katchin?
Well. Scallion's importance has taken a few steps up.
"I can't even BEGIN to think of what I could accomplish if I had a ton of this stuff, heck, ten pounds." She notes. "Maybe I could finally have a vehicle that wouldn't detonate with the slightest jostle... where did you even find this?!"
"Scallion did..." Chronoa whispers, thinking over the implications.
Could they build an android out of this stuff? They tend to not do that. Most 'androids'- Cyborgs- in the time patrol are from timelines where Doctor Gero simply decided to grab someone other than Lapis and Lazuli, and they're not really ones to create 'Bio Androids'. They aren't ones to create life for a purpose. That's... cruel. To create something without free will.
But an android- like ninteen or sixteen- who's internal components are comprised of this stuff? That could be a great asset for the time patrol.
It's just... creating sentient life- technically not life as it's a robot- leaves a bad taste in her mouth.
They... can't revive them... and when they die... it hurts...
That being said... a training robot might be something to look into. Something without true artificial intellect. More a set of parameters that it follows and adjusts to on the fly.
"Well, damn... maybe I need to go see him... see if he has any untoward intentions for you." The woman smiles, causing Chronoa to pout.
"I'm over seventy five million years old... don't you patronize me."
That's only through technicality. Realistically she and the time nest exist outside time, so she's only been around for a few hundred thousand years.
"And yet you've never had a boyfriend... let alone kissed a guy."
Chronoa gurgles slightly, falling to her knees.
Holy shit she just fucking died-
I sit on my bed, a sparking aura around me as I rest in the Super Saiyan state.
It's getting easier.
With each day it's requiring less and less of my focus. Less of my energy.
The emotional turmoil I used to feel in it is gone.
I can't quite use it even while I sleep, but this is good progress.
One of my eyes crack open as I feel a presence appear at my door.
I rise to my feet, making my way across the room.
I open the door, spying a short woman stood there, hand inches from the doorbell.
"Hey Chro." I greet.
"How did- oh... right..." She mutters quietly.
There's a slight flush to her face as her eyes briefly scan my face, I step aside, gesturing deeper into my apartment. "Want to come in?"
"Um... sure." She mutters.
The door closes behind her, my tail gently swishing back and forth as I walk towards the kitchen.
"I'm waiting for some food to get done... want some?"
"Oh... I wouldn't want to impose." She quickly waves.
"Oh, you won't. I tend to have a lot of leftovers when I cook so I can be lazy with my meals for at least... a day... you eating a portion or two won't really change anything. Besides... I've surprisingly gotten a lot better at cooking recently... wait... do kai's eat?"
"We do." The girl confirms, briefly sniffing the air, eyes widening slightly. "That smells good... what are you cooking?"
"Lasagna and some garlic bread... like... an entire loaf... cut in half." I admit.
"Normally Saiyans just... cook a large hunk of meat over an open flame." The woman blinks twice. "They're not really the types to be in the kitchen taking time to prepare their meals due to how much they need to eat on average."
"Yeah... being a Saiyan has its downsides. The food. The giant rage monster thing. The battle lust. The food again because of how inconvenient it is to find and eat roughly twice your own body weight in food each day."
"But the pros outweigh the cons, do they not?"
"True." I shrug. "But realistically, there's not much benefit to being a pure blooded Saiyan. Half saiyans can reach super saiyan four regardless as long as they have their tail."
"Would you like to be in your natural form?" I ask. "We're alone here and people don't really just enter my room without asking... primarily because they have no reason to be here because I don't really have any other friends, but also because they respect my privacy and know I can and would probably beat the shit out of them for it."
There's a small puff of smoke and suddenly a pink skinned girl is stood in my home, she has pointed ears, her hair about the same, but she appears to be a few inches shorter.
Cute.
She seems to blush slightly at my gentle smile.
"I think I like this appearance more than the one you took." I begin. "But I understand why you had to hide. Wanting to make friends that didn't act like they were walking on eggshells around you, right?"
"Yeah..." She whispers.
"I'd imagine that the others that are 'important' to history are treated in the same way." I note with a low hum.
"But... they have each other..." The girl whispers, a slightly pained expression on her face. "But most of them... they treat me differently."
"I'm sorry to hear that." I whisper as I take a seat at the small countertop in my kitchen. "You don't have to worry Chronoa, if it's what you want, I'll never respect you like that."
The girl lets out a small snort as she sits next to me. "I'll smack you, boy."
"Hey, that sounds like a pretty big zenkai to me~" I hum.
"Don't injure yourself for a powerup." The girl pouts. "That's all you saiyans think about."
"Eh, we dream of food too... and didn't you say something about having a thing for saiyans?" I hum. "Isn't that just another one of our charms? It makes me wonder though... what is it that you like so much about saiyans? Their musculature and proportions? The power? Or could it be more the personality? The gruff, straightforward, and rugged bad boys of the universe who take whatever or whoever they want whenever they want it."
The girl looks away, her face a deep purple, squirming in the seat slightly, her legs rub together.
"T-That-" *a-aheeem*
"T-That is a classified time patrol secret!" She eventually sputters out pointing an accusing finger at me. "I-I can't have you delving into our deepest darkest secrets."
"Shame..." I sigh. "Perhaps you'll tell me one day."
My eyes stray across the room.
"Oh, the food's done!" I smile as I get up, a timer ringing as I briefly reach out to stop it.
A large pan is removed from the oven and placed on the stove, followed by a second which has what looks to be a large baguette on it. Sliced lengthwise and folded open.
I nod once, a cascade of scents assaulting my nose, causing the corners of my mouth to turn upwards.
My 'hack' crafting ability...
It applies to cooking.
Thus, I learned how to cook ten times as quickly... and my food is ten times better.
I grab two plates from the cabinet above, one slightly smaller and the other something you'd use to serve food on... not as a typical plate.
I take half the bread and with a swing of my finger, half of the lasagna is transported to the large plate in just one large piece.
Chronoa gets herself a small part of the remaining half and a small piece of bread, taking her seat beside me yet again. "So... what brings you here, Chronoa. I don't think I ever told you where I live... kind of spooky honestly."
"Oh. I came here to tell you to gather your things. We've got everything ready for you to move into the time nest's Conton City."
"Oh. That's neat. I guess I'll be going from big fish in a very tiny pond to the smallest of minnows in the ocean, then."
"You're not weak." The girl frowns. "Especially with that super saiyan five or whatever you've got going on."
She takes a bite of the meal I prepared, eyes widening slightly as she looks down to it. "Wow..."
"Thanks..." I quietly mutter as I look away.
A memory strikes me. "Oh! Right. I forgot. I've been meaning to bring this up for like... months, but like, have you or any other Kais here lost a Potara earring?"
The woman pauses briefly looking over in confusion. "No? What color were they."
"Red. Just one earring though."
"Red? None of the Kai here have red potara earrings... may I see it?" The woman asks.
"Oh sure." I nod once. "I kept it in my pocket space. It slipped my mind, honestly as the moment after I found it I was punched in the face by a time breaker android."
With a flash a red earring appears in my grasp.
I frown slightly. "Oh. Oops. Look like I bled on it a little bit back then-"
It begins to glow causing my eyes to widen.
*FLASH*
I blink the spots from my vision as I gaze down at a new figure in my house that kneels down on the floor, eyes wide as she looks around.
She has blue skin, snow white hair and purple eyes, her clothes are relatively simple, a lab coat, a black skirt and red pants with high heels. She has pointed elf-like ears.
She is... familiar.
For both myself and Chronoa.
"TOWA?!" Said kai shrieks
"Huh?" I blink.
"Ah. We meet at last, my love." The demon woman smiles at me.
"Hah?"
"WHAT?!"
DUN DUN DUUUUN. Man. Chronoa's luck is absolute shit. she JUST starts dating a guy, then her greatest enemy shows up out of nowhere and decides that he is 'her love'. sucks to suck I guess. now she'll be forced to escalate to keep up.
