Chapter XII: Broken Bones
Takes place where we last left off (Author's POV) Dragneel residence
As the Dragneel family got to talking with their relatives, Laxus for one decided to take a step outside and started to think out loud. Many things started to run through his mind, almost at a mile a minute. The tall, blonde man came to a stop. In Front of him was a tree, a mere two feet in front of him. He stared at the old log before punching straight through it. His warmth radiating off his flesh clears a perfect circle straight through the middle.
Something he had no idea was bothering him. His body was still very achy, every muscle hurt. His sudden strike got the attention of some onlookers, being Esdeath and Wendy. The mother and daughter combo looked at one another and had a silent conversation between them. A slight nod from the mother, Wendy went to comfort Laxus. Wendy could tell from just seeing Laxus, could tell he was hurting. He staggered back as she approached, falling back on his rear. Wendy rushed to his side, applying aid the best she could to ease his pain.
"Arrgh, W-wendy… Thanks." Laxus grunted as he could swear his body was getting tighter and heavier.
"You gotta take it slow Laxus, your body is trying to adjust to your strength, becoming youthful." Wendy said, slowly looking Laxus over.
She could see his veins pulsing violently, those magical circuits of his as healthy and lively as a naturally born dragon god. Overall she was very shocked that this was even possible, her aunt Ophis truly was far above her expectations, and bet her mother was the same. She scanned over towards her mother, Esdeath who slowly came on over.
"Gotta say Goldie, you truly are something else… Your body for one didn't rip itself apart as it is still trying to adjust to your bloodline. In time, you'll adjust to a more youthful age and stature matching your current strength. I'd bet you'll be a little older looking than Zeref, but you won't be shrinking much haha." She laughed, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Here, I'll help you out a bit." She applied a nice ice press via her own touch, which seemed to ease most of the pain. "Be sure Wendy, your cousin Laxus here will be without a doubt one of the strongest males of our race. I relish the idea that you'll be a great sparring partner, even for me." Esdeath smiled, more than happy to help the youngest family member out.
"This family really does love fighting huh…" Laxus shook his head. "Thanks for the help, I think I'll be needing some sleep. I'd like to get to know our new guests some more, but my body is demanding sleep."
"That tree you just obliterated didn't deserve that… I-I mean yeah sure, I'll help you up. Easy now, nice and slow." Wendy cared about the poor tree, mumbling the first part under breath before speaking up.
"You've always been strong Wendy…" Laxus said with a smile. "I'm glad you're breaking out of your reserved self. You are strong, very strong. Your voice matters as much as any other at the family table, make sure you are heard." Laxus made sure the twin tailed girl felt encouraged, she deserved it. "Natsu told me about your first skirmish with those devils, the same day you met up with Ophis and Rory. You let go and beat the crud outta someone."
"A few of them… Yeah, I guess I let loose all my anger that built up to that moment. Seeing their hostile intent towards Natsu… I couldn't let it go. They had no idea what Natsu..-! What we've been through!" Wendy started to let her anger out, wind picking up behind her. Laxus placed a Hand on her head, covering her head within his palm.
"Yeah, you're right. I don't even know either. But I do know this, if you ever want to talk about it or anything, I'll be here for you. Ok?" He started to stand up, smiling all the way. "We all have our own demons and battles we fight… Some we have to deal with ourselves… Most we have to fight with help."
"We never really talked much back at Fairy Tail… Glad you turned out to be some sort of guru." Wendy joked, getting Laxus to laugh. "We have plenty of time to catch up. Get to know each other more."
"Thanks Wendy, for everything." Laxus said, raising his hand from her head. He started to walk off before falling slowly to his knees, truly getting up too soon. He put his hand on his knee and got up. "Yeah, I think I might need some help back inside… Sorry." Laxus sadly admitted.
Wendy rushed to his side and helped him right in and to his own room. Once on his bed Wendy closed the door behind her and headed to the others. Her mother stood by the door into the family room, Irene was munching next to her with a bag of chips stating how much she loved barbeque chips.
Esdeath made a grab for the bag only for Irene to pull away and growl at her. The two sisters locked eyes before breaking into laughter. Irene then handed the bag over and shared it with her sister. Wendy's own stomach growled, eyes locking onto the ranch flavored chips. Irene giggled at her niece and handed her her own individual bag. Stars filled her eyes as she went to town.
"So Wendy, you mind later on showing your dear auntie and mother around this school Natsu ran into the others at? I'm a bit curious about a few things…"
"Uhh sure, no problem auntie. I guess we can show up now that its already the next day." Wendy paused, wondering if that was in fact how much time had passed in the real world.
"Good. Well sister, I'll be taking a quick shower before we leave. I suggest you join me and do the same." Irene winked at her sister, hinting at something more which they'd speak about privately later on.
"Very well. Lead the way then. Wendy, finish your snack and join us. There's more I want to discuss." The mother told her daughter, who did as told. Grabbed her by the shoulders and lead the way to the baths.
Else where in Zeref and Mavis' room, the two were talking about a few things and how to bring up the news to the rest of the family. Mavis was now pregnant with twins, something very common among the dragon race. Mavis was starting to worry, thinking she'd be laying eggs despite knowing better.
Zeref chuckled and reassured her that that wasn't how it worked. He promised her that wasn't how his mother brought Natsu into the world, and it was exactly the same as the humans. She sighed in relief before joking around.
"Well that might be Natsu, but what about you?" She stuck her tongue out at him and he blushed, mumbling how cute she looked. "Hmm, what was that Dear?"
"You're cute. Now, I believe the others are still talking to our cousins who Natsu brought over."
"Hmm yes, they seem nice. Kind… I can tell they have no malice towards us, only a slight amount of fear… We should remedy that." Mavis pondered before smiling bright. "Lets go say hello!" She jumped up in the air with excitement, coming down and pulling Zeref's hand all the way to the meeting.
Now at the large family room, we have nearly everyone gathered, barring Laxus, Wendy, Esdeath and Irene. Natsu waved to his older brother and Mavis, welcoming them over to sit next to him. The two death goddesses excused themselves as news about their companions' location brought new found hope into finding them. Natsu wished them good luck, tossed them a phone and told them to call when they needed to be picked up.
Beyond grateful for the hospitality the Dragneel's have shown them, both Kara and Rebecca headed out with a portal thanks to Ophis. Rebecca couldn't wait to bring her girls back into her arms, however she doubted it would be so easy… Truth be told, both Mina and Crystal could handle themselves well, but not long after the 'family' marks them for dead.
"So umm Erza is it?" Kumi asked, noticing the Redhead was very similar to her in nearly every department other than hair color.
"Yes..?" Erza answered, rather questioning why she had to be the focus of attention right now, slightly embarrassed.
"You seem very cool. I hope we can be friends." Kumi bowed her head, bringing her hands together praying.
"Uhh yeah, No problem. You seem very strong, I could always use another sparring partner if you're interested." Erza smiled, uncrossing her arms and extending her hand. "We're family after all, we gotta get along the best we can." She laughed, nervously as Kumi had yet to accept the hand, instead stared at it like a deer in headlights.
It then clicked to her and she firmly grasped it. Ren sighed at his older sister's reaction time, but figured it's for the best. Natsu then struck up a conversation, wondering if there was anything about this 'family' going around that might be the exact reason why they'd bring back Helios from the dead, and hunt their family.
"Nothing much more than you already know. Granted we have very little involvement other than checking in and there with our father. The other cousins, aunts and uncles however haven't to our knowledge been here. This earth dimension is clean of their scent. Aunt Marron however is on the hunt for in her words 'big prey'. Can't say anyone here would grab her attention much. Form what we've gathered here, the devils aren't as hyped as they wish they were. Some demons could put up for good punching bags for a bit. That one other dragon… Great Red was it?"
At the mere mention of the bastard who's constantly bothering Ophis' peace and quiet, the strongest dragon god went emotionless. Completely stoic. She did not like that fool and it was made rather clear right now to anyone who didn't already know in the room.
"Err. Sorry Didn't mean to stir trouble there…"
"You're fine dear, just hearing that loud obnoxious bastard's name just makes me want to go kill him." Ophis said, slowly returning to her more motherly demeanor. "Continue please, sorry for the interruption."
"Yeah sure. Well other than those mentioned, seems there is a few selection of gods and even a few primordials here that could at least rival myself easily."
"Don't think too highly of yourself now… There's a large amount, even more so of those exact primordials, that could crush even me easily." Zeref mentioned, making his own voice be heard for the first time since he entered the room and made his greetings. "I can see you two are both young as well, just a bit older than Rory I'd assume. You'll have a long way to go before there's no threats to you out there."
"Zeref, thats enough. They're young, and with time they'll grow stronger. Not even you are done yet growing either hun." Ophis pointed out, not meaning to insult her oldest son. "However other than Red, I know of no one in this plane we're connected to now as strong as either myself or Igneel. If what Kumi and Ren have told us to be true, your new friends you've made with the devils might be in the sights of a much greater threat than you can imagine."
Zeref, unlike Natsu and the others, knew what his mother meant. If something was ever considered a threat by her of all people, none of them could bear to be by themselves out there. Natsu who just mated with his newest mate Serafall locked eyes all on his mother. Serfall was still out there in her own territory, and away from him.
Without saying a word Natsu got up, opened a portal to the underworld and went frantically searching for his mate. Others in the room were shocked by his sudden departure but came to terms with it. Erza filled Ren and Kumi in on why Natsu left, figuring they had the right to know. They nodded and thanked her for keeping them in the loop.
"I think we should gather up around those you guys consider friends. I'm sure my grandkids have some friends they'll want to check up on." Igneel got up from his seat next to Ophis. "Yasaka and Jenna, you think you'll be able to handle yourselves if you go back to take care of any loose ends…?"
"None at all, father. We'll take Kyouka and Seliah with us as well." Jenna said with a confident smile. "Plus we pretty much just need to check in with some people before we hang up the keys for good."
"Yes, that young two-tone haired yokai… What was his name again?" Ophis asked her daughters.
"Nura, Riko Nura. It's time we hand him the ropes for everything. The boy has much potential, after all he's had more tutors and role models than anyone haha." Jenna laughed as the red eyed yokai came to mind.
"Well then, I suggest you four be on your way. As much as I hate making things go quick, I just know something is going to be happening soon. I like to keep all my kids near me this time around…" Ophis thought back to her last time in the great dragon civil war, leaving her two sons behind to fight her parents and brother. A fight which she should've saw through to the very end. Letting that bastard of a younger brother live after his crimes was the only thing resembling the sibling bond she once had with him. An error her entire race paid for in the end.
"So do you two feel like sticking around with us or feel like you'll be better off on your own?" Igneel asked his niece and nephew. A blank expression on his face, showing no signs of distaste.
Ren and Kumi thought about it for a moment before locking eyes. Their silent conversation was expected, but rather shorter than expected. Kumi spoke for them and locked eyes with Igneel.
"We would like free travel. We sign ourselves to no banner." She raised her fist and held it tight to her chest. "We've been by ourselves for so long, and nothing will be separating us as long as I breathe." Fire lit in the iris of her eyes.
Ophis smiled, loving hearing the resolve. Igneel did the same and smirked. He put his hands up and started laughing. He congratulated them, welcomed them to the family and offered his hands for shaking. They took his hands and announced their plans to leave in the near future. But they currently just want to know more about their family, and perhaps take a nice relaxing dip in the pool.
X_X -Japan: Mid Day at Kuoh Academy-
A few hours passed, Natsu still had not returned much to his parents' dismay. Instead he found himself with his newest mate, a magical girl all dressed up at her little sister's student council room. He had informed her of the dangers that was rounding the corner, but she did not disbelieve him. Instead at the moment she was trying to convince her sister that closing the school was the safest option for her along with everyone in the school.
Sona however couldn't take her big sister seriously at all, at least not when she was ever dressed up like a magical girl. Natsu begged her to let him do the talking, and did not want to be rude. He wanted to keep friendly terms the best he could with his new sister-in-law, and not make her think he was a freak just like Serafall.
"So Natsu-sama," Sona turned her attention to the dragon god. "My sister and you are now a pair… Err- mates? Mates, correct?' Sona asked, blushing a bit. Natsu nodded, bowing his head to show respect to her. "Please, no need for that." She returned her own bow, feeling ashamed to have such a powerful being being too respectful to her.
"I'm sorry. I took her without asking for her hand or your equivalent of a blessing." Natsu then looked up, straightening himself as Tsubaki came into causal distance.
The vice president bowed her head to the dragon, and natsu waved her off with his hand and a smile. "It's good to see you again Tsubaki. I hope you're doing well."
"I am. Thank you very much Natsu-sama. It's a pleasure to be seeing you again."
"Ok well now that everyone is here, before I go tell the Gremory house what's happening I gotta make this fast and stern." Natsu coughed into his hand before getting very serious that the atmosphere around him knocked all humans out, leaving just the devils on campus awake but still stunned.
His motives shocked and surprised the devils, even Serafall with how accurate and precise he was. Very glad he was on very good terms with them, they all thought.
"Alright, we need school here to be closed for the foreseeable future. I am sad to say my presence here has marked this territory as a hot zone, a target for this "Family", and they happen to have playing cards that can rival far above my own weight class."
His words kinda went over their heads a little bit, yet Serafall wanted to throw her hat into the ring. Natsu however kindly put her in a choke hold and let her pass out without hurting her, slightly comically.
"As I was saying, this family has gods, dragons and being on par with primordials. My own parents fear that only they could handle the coming storm. Truth be told, I don't think I could last long myself. And that right there, I fear more than anything."
He looked down at his hands, truly feeling as though again he was helpless to fight. He wants to be by his parent's side, but he knows he's nowhere near their level. None of the kids are, only his aunts are close. Irene and Esdeath have much experience with the previous great dragon wars, far more than both him and his brother. Being both the founding war for the dragon festival, and the worst of them all, the civil war. Both of his aunts, Irene and Esdeath have a huge legacy and resume that could rival the toughest of them all. His poor aunt Anna ended up with the short stick, being more of a defensive line for the younglings. Yet still right now he had to get those close to him and their factions to know of the great danger beyond the horizon.
"If what you're saying is true then we can't act any faster. We must close up and institute as our top priority the safety of the students and staff. All devils and demons here will be let known of this immediately. The humans will also be brought to their own safety, their homes being sufficient enough." Sona said, turning to Tusbaki, their eyes locked. "I will not tolerate any insubordination or failure."
"At once your highness." Tusbaki began to leave at once, taking care of what she needed to do. "Natsu-sama, thank you for coming to warn us all. I can truly say from my heart that you're a good soul." She smiled before getting back to her robotic stature and left the student council office.
"We should head to their club building, surely they can tell something is happening." Sona made reference to the ORC group. "Rias isn't one for be left in the dark, even if it's just a few minutes." Sona sighed, recalling how her childhood friend acts.
Natsu carried Serafall right at Sona heels to the Germory heiress. Rias and her peerage where very shocked at how sudden things were moving and wasted no time wondering what Natsu would suggest for them to do.
"The safest place I'd suggest would be to come with me to my home. Let your loved ones know immediately." Natsu made a note for Issei to get his parents notified anyway possible. 'Rias, I know much is still not known and I'm sorry I can't waste time explaining everything but I need you to right now let your brother know of this." Natsu placed Serafall down on the open couch next to Koneko.
"I-I'll let him know at once. He'll even inform my parents as well-" Natsu cut Rias off.
"NO. I alone trust Zechs and his wife fairly well after our last few encounters. Despite originally being on the wrong foot, I can tell we can get along very well. However what I can tell is the "Family" has moles everywhere." His words left room for her to argue but his eyes showed much pain and sorrow that she couldn't come up with the words.
"Natsu-san…" Asia said, bringing her hands up to prey.
"I'm sorry… I just know the powers at play here can if they so desire, erase us from existence. My own home world suffered once two wars that in fact brought my race to less than an equivalent handful in layman's terms. Finding out my extended family has gone around and conquered other worlds, destroying nearly entire dimensions… It really makes me feel powerless."
"I-I don't know what I could say that could ease your heart Natsu, but I can do as you ask." Rias made a wave of her hand, a magical circle inscribing words into a roll of paper before sending it thru said magic circle. "There, it is done." Rias looked at Natsu before looking at her peerage.
"Everyone, gather your things. Keep things small and tight, we don't need to clutter Natsu's home. You all have a half hour, make it count!"
"Yes president!" Her peerage all said together minus Koneko who was keeping quiet and to herself.
Sona was glad to see Rias wasn't putting up a fight or argument with Natsu, and then bid them her goodbye, saying she'd like to keep in touch. However before she could head out, Natsu grabbed her arm and spun her around into his arms. He grabbed her tight and let her know how much all her work meant to him.
"I think it's right for you as well to join us Sona, your peerage as well. I am not going to allow my Serafall to lose anyone who might be used as leverage to get her to come out." Natsu said, not loosening his grip which made the small girl blush madly.
"A-a.. A teacher should not be seen holding one of his students in such a manner-!" She said flustered.
"Well good thing we're family now then… Sorry but It will mean the world to me if you guys can all come and stay with me. My family is strong and with you guys we can stay strong and not divided."
"United we stand…" Sona began.
"Divided we fall." Koneko spoke up, getting the others to smirk. "Natsu-sama, can I get to play with your kids? I don't have many friends around my age to hang out with or eat snacks with."
"Of course Koneko. I know my girls would love to get to play with you, Mikey too if you'd allow him." Natsu said now letting go of Sona.
Soan was blushing madly but grabbed herself tight and slapped her face a few times to focus. Her little act made Rias and Akeno giggle, much to her dismay and turmoil.
"Ok Natsu-sama. However I can't exactly meet all your requests, I can however have both me and my queen reside at your estate. The rest of my peerage will go back home in my territory and live it out there. Surely that should be enough to make you and my sister happy."
Natsu nodded and gave her a thumbs up.
"Make sure you all get ready, I'll meet you all back here before I take us home. I just got to clear it with my mother real quick…" Natsu scratched the back of his head, remembering his mothers words last time he brought someone home without permission.
His words made the girls freeze. He did things without thinking too far ahead, and rather rushed them on the fly. Seems to be something most dragons have in common, they thought about their respected pawns. Sona took her leave, giving Rias a kind smirk before leaving.
Natsu quickly brought a cell phone to his ear, a magic circle forming behind it as he phoned home. It rang like a real cell phone, till his mother picked up on the other end. She seemed to figure out why Natsu was calling with her previous words still lingering in her mind.
"Good boy. You called to ask my permission. You're a fast learner."
"Yeah… I get that from you for sure, just don't tell dad that." Natsu joked, receiving a giggle from his mother. "So I take it that you'll allow me to bring my friends home?"
The others in the room began questioning what was going on in front of them. Here stood Natsu-sensei, their teacher. A man by all accounts, acting like a kid asking his mother if his friends could come over and play. This got Issei and Kiba to sweet drop. Truly they felt bad for their fellow male that had to be suffering this embarrassment.
Natsu however wasn't bothered at all about this, in fact he felt more calm now just hearing his mother's voice.
"Yes you can bring them over. We have more room here then what should be needed, no?"
"Yeah I think so. I wasn't really ever good with math unlike Zeref-nii." Natsu said, getting more attention from the other in the room who just found out more about Natsu's family. "Ok well I'll see you and the others in about a half hour. Love you mum." Natsu said, hanging up the phone once Ophis returned the love.
"So you got an older brother as well Natsu-san." Issei said, getting a nod from the pinkette.
"Yeah, I have a rather large family now that I think about it… Anyways back to the current matter at hand." Natsu went back to being serious. 'Sona, go do what you have to, your sister and I will be here waiting for everyone to get ready." He then turned to Rias. "Thanks again RIas for trusting me, I honestly appreciate it greatly and I'm now here by in your debt."
"Please, you're the one risking your all for our sake. I should be the one thanking you for taking such kind care of us."
"I agree with Rias, you truly are a kind soul Natsu-san." Akeno said as she came closer to him, their eyes locking a bit as though they had a silent conversation which thankfully the others missed. "It'll be fun to be over your place. I got a new bikini I wanted to try out. Hopefully it's to your liking." She said, now getting the others attention, mainly Issei who started to get very jealous.
"Sounds lovely." Natsu returned a kind yet seductive smile to the Lightning queen. "I bet both you and Rias would look great in your swimwear." Natsu then turned to Rias who became a bit flustered at his attention, his gaze now bringing up a heat in her she couldn't help but feel weak in the knees at now.
"W-well we can see those matters later on. Right now everyone take care of your agendas. Rossweisse will send word to Odin since if I recall correctly, he gets along with your father..?" Natsu nodded, ok with that.
Rossweisse took immediate action and copied Rias' message pattern from earlier. The valkyrie turned devil got a nod from natsu who suggested she also pack a nice swimsuit, a bikini would be absolutely wonderful on her. The older female brought her hands to her face, embarrassed that one of her coworkers and a male no less took attention to her body. It wasn't the first time for sure, but for this moment she too couldn't help but feel flustered by his words and gaze.
"Ok bud. Enough with stealing all the girls! This is my harem here!" Issei shouted, now getting beyond pissed with how Natsu just practically made claims on all the girls.
Koneko took matters into her own hands, and punched him in the stomach, calling him a pervert. Issei fell over, knocked out cold. Rias sighed, putting a hand to her temple, not believing that Issei could be wasting time like this.
"Guess I'll let his parents know then…" Rias made a phone call to his home, leaving a very convincing story for his parents to listen to once they heard the voice mail. "Mao I'm good at this." Rias smirked, prideful at her communication skills.
Soon before long everyone coming on this little 'camping' trip to the Dragneel's estate arrived with some of their bags packed and ready to go. Kiba requested to stay behind with Azazel who was more than willing to take the knight in, figuring the two of them could work on something in the meantime that could help in this new war ahead. Gasper wanted to stay along, not wanting to leave his video games.
The Fallen Angel general and leader greeted everyone, making Natsu aware that he had his trust and would see it to his best strengths to watch over Kiba along with Gasper and try his hardest to get some dirt on those who might be part of the 'family'. Truth be told, Natsu forgot about the man, even his name till Rias and the others mentioned it out loud.
"Hmm good to see then you're caught up on things then I take it?" Natsu asked.
"Yes, I have thanks to Rias here. Earlier I've seen what this 'family' has done to this country, and how you personally dealt with some of their numbers a few weeks ago now… I'm very impressed, to put it lightly." He said grooming his goatee.
"Alright then. Well then I'll make sure to keep you in the loop. My mother has mentioned you a few times before in the past, you have her acknowledgement. Good terms I assure you, just don't do anything to ruin that ok…" Natsu was hinting at a time decades ago when Azazel probably made the biggest mistake of his life, hitting on Ophis while drunk. Thankfully only they knew about this and not the devils present.
"Awh… Fair enough I guess. I'll do my best to return to her good graces, you can count on that." he beat his chest, with a straight and determined face.
"Alright everyone here that's coming, please line up and head right on thru." Natsu said as he snapped his fingers and a portal with his family crest came to life. "Right this way please, and watch your step." He joked.
"Umm Natsu-sama," Sona asked, pointing to her sister. "Do you mind getting her? She's still knocked out."
Nastu gave her a thumbs up and headed on over to his newest wife and mate. He gently picked her up, noticing Issei was also still out yet Koneko was kind enough to pick his lazy bum up. Guessing she kind of felt responsible and all for his current state.
X_X -Dragneel Residence/dimension-
Now after arriving back home, Natsu and the group threw their bags and luggage to the side as they began to introduce themselves to the others who gathered to meet them. Koneko went by fast and quickly went to see Luna and her siblings. The younger kids took their leave and went to go play in the vast back yard behind the house. Having just gotten back from saying goodbyes to their friends, they welcomed Koneko with open arms as a new friend was more than they could've asked for.
The others began to split up, Issei made his rounds first before heading to see the two pink haired students that arrived the other day at the school. He had a very strong desire to get to know them more, mainly the pink haired female who he was hoping was single.
Asia was a bit shy but walked up to Rory who greeted her with a bow. Rory welcomed the nun to her humble abode and offered to help her with her things. Asia refused at first, feeling ashamed of having her hosts take care of her hand and foot. Rory however waved her off, saying it was no problem.
"Trust me, I need to do this. Plus I want to have some chat with you away from nosey ears." Rory said, getting Asia to tilt her head confused. "I assure you you'll understand soon enough."
The nun and young female dragon goddess headed to the rooms, getting her all set up and shutting the door behind them. Rory smirked a devious grin as she had all her plans ready for what the poor little nun was going to be riding shotgun for on this wild roller coaster.
Rias bowed to Ophis and Igneel, thanking them for allowing them to take refuge here in this ark time. Ophis and Igneel welcomed her and her peerage openly. Sona was next to come by, greeting Ophis again as they've met in the past a few times. Igneel however was near eye candy for the short stack heiress who greeted him with a bow. She was slightly flustered at just seeing his warm smile that felt much more kind and welcoming than even Natsu's.
"Welcome Sona-san. I take it Natsu convinced you to stay?"
"Y-yes sir. He was very stern and wouldn't budge."
"No need to be so formal. Just call me Igneel, or old man if ya want. Half the people here do that already anyway…" he said, a little upset about the truth.
"This old man here," Ophis elbowed her mate. "Is just a goof ball. Just picture him as an older Natsu."
"Yeah, but I'm more handsome." Igneel gleamed, getting a much harder elbow to the ribs this time as a prideful mother gave him one of her sadistic smiles that promised pain.
Sona sweet dropped slightly fearing for the male dragon in front of her. As she was busy meeting the rest of the family that came over to introduce themselves, her sister began to awake in Natsu's arms.
Natsu looked down at her precious face and gave her a kiss on the forehead. Saying good morning to the sleeping beauty. Sona yawned and asked how long she was out for, till it all came back to her.
She glared at Natsu, a stare that promised pain if he didn't get down on his knees and beg for forgiveness. The young dragon sighed and promised to make it all up to her soon enough, but right now he had to make sure everyone was doing alright and got the introductions done right. Luckily, the Satan calmed down and joined him in the meet and greets.
Hearing a bunch of commotion outside, a sleeping Laxus woke up. He made his way into his closet, picking an open purple shirt and buttoned half way up before heading out to see what the commotion was all about. He was greeted with many new faces and a bunch of wide stares from the girls who were shocked to see such a giant of a man show up.
Rossweisse had her mouth watering, truly the man in front of her was her type to the letter. Akeno and Rias also saw how their fellow peerage member was gawking at the blonde male and decided to go over to him, linking their arms with the valkyrie. The poor old norse warrior had no idea how to react, being super shy and embarrassed, much to the joy of her fellow devils.
Once in front of Laxus, he said the first words, greeting them. His voice was everything they expected it to sound like, sending chills down their spines.
"Yo. Pleasure to meet ya, name's Laxus." He said stretching before reaching a hand forward to greet them.
"Wow…" was all Rossweisse could say as even his voice she couldn't stop thinking about nearly made her heart melt.
"Hello Laxus-sama, we're devils of the Gremory household. I'm Rias Gremory and here is my queen Akeno Himejima. And this here is Rosseisse, my rook." Rias greeted the giant man.
"Nice to meet you. Forgive me if I seem a little worn and tear, I'm just getting over how sore my body is." He said, taking back his hand and stretching again, giving eyesight to his massive muscles and well toned abs.
Unknown to himself, the three women in front of him were slowly losing consciousness. They were caught in awe and female lust for the male muscle machine. However before he could catch on to their dismay, a blue haired girl caught his attention next to Ophis, bowing before her. His mind began racing off to a prior time of someone he once knew.
This person happened to be one of the first guild members that joined once he took the reins of the guild. The main difference was their hair length and her one green bang which saved him from taking a double take. Truth be told he sighed, remembering the young teenage girl that looked up to him. Years passed on, and he turned into a direct mentor for her.
She happened to be another second generation dragon slayer, much like himself. She happened to be a fast learner, yet a bit of an impetuous youngster. Very much like Natsu he could recall, even had her fair share of fights. Sadly, she went off to join the military and never came back. Laxus sighed, not wanting to dwell on something he failed to protect.
He's been told many times over he wasn't at fault for her or any of the other youngsters that joined the guild and later left under the same circumstances. Yet still no one can truly say he shouldn't feel remorseful for those years, all leaders were guilty of their own sentencing given to them by their own accord.
Laxus then went over to Ophis and greeted the new blue haired girl. Ophis gave him a smile and did the introductions for him.
"This here is my youngest son, Laxus." She gestured to the blonde. "Laxus, this here is Xenovia." The blue haired girl looked up to him with a confident smirk and smile, reaching her hand out which he told firmly.
"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Laxus-sama."
"The honor is mine, Xenovia."
The two of them began talking a bit, filling in some cool details recently they found out they might have in common. Ophis mentioned a few things around the estate she set up that could be very useful for the knight of the Gremory peerage. Training grounds, the arena and the mountains which Esdeath personally helped make as her own personal touch to the dimension.
All in all they were more than welcomed here as Natsu had taken a liking to them as did many others. A few more hours passed till everyone who had left earlier arrived back from the yokai capital. The additional four women arrived, respecting the wishes of their mate who welcomed the devils into their home.
Seilah for one took notice of Tusbaki and Sona, feeling a strong connection to them. She headed over to them and began talking till the three of them followed Seilah inside to her personal quarters where she had an entire library of books organized in what seemed to be a near endless capacity. The three of them shared a love of books and before long Seliah declared they were going to be great friends, opening her vast collection to them.
Back outside with the others who just arrived back, Jenna and Yasaka took their leave of Kyouka who went to her sister's side. They headed to Igneel and Ophis who were currently discussing rooming with the red haired devil heiress. Rias made a notion of the two older females, bowing before them in respect and greeting.
"Pleasure to see you again, Lady Jenna-sama, Yasaka-sama." She raised her head and took a comfortable pose.
"Rias-chan, it's good to see you again." Yasaka started.
"Yes, glad to see you. Hope you've been well." Jenna continued.
"As good as I can say. No one's been hurt and so far we're all excited to be here. Thanks again for your warm hospitality." She turned to Igneel and Ophis who just smiled and asked for the formalities to be dropped. Rias was reluctant at first but complied.
"Good to hear. Now if you don't mind, I can see that Laxus-san has gotten much attention from the other ladies. It be best to save him before they start fighting over him." Yasaka joked, but actually felt fear that might actually happen. "Another ladies man…" She sighed. "Just like our Natsu."
Erza and Kyouka were talking a bit with their mother who had some advice to give them. In a private and short conversation, Erza mentioned some words that made both the older two women go wide eyed. Kyouka looked at their mother who regained her composure and then nodded.
"Twins you say? I'm sure she'd want to break the news to everyone at once, Zeref on the other hand might be more reluctant." Kyouka pondered.
"We best speak to Ophis and Mavis about this at once. I'm sure both would want a say about the news." Their mother made her way to her older sister, who was currently being flanked by the future mother of the twins and her mate.
"Perfect timing. Say Mavis, when do you want to announce the big news?" Irene teased, getting the blonde girl to go beat red in the face. "It's your choice after all my dear. Don't feel rushed or pressured to do so."
Ophis looked over at irene for a monet before snapping back around to Mavis with a shocked expression. Almost as if just reading her face, Mavis nodded and gave a slight smile to her mother.
"My dear sweet Mavis. Please do as you wish. The stage is all yours." Ophis backed up just after giving her daughter a hug.
Mavis then called for everyone's attention, which all the fairies and devils came to. Natsu went and got the girls from Seilah's room, meeting up with Wendy, Rory and Asia. Esdeath once more is off on the side eating her favorite bag of chips, refusing to share this time with anyone. Mikey, Koneko, Luna and Kunou came back from playing and stood not far apart from Issei and Natsu.
"Ok now that everyone is here, I have an announcement to make." Mavis began, getting all ears to perk up. "I am currently with twins!" She shouted with joy and embarrassment. Her mate grabbed her side and swung her around gently.
Everyone was ecstatic. Rows of congratulations could be heard as it went all around. Natsu personally hugged her and then his older brother who laughed and enjoyed the moment. How he wished this could've been much sooner, but at alas that wasn't for the cards to play. Truthfully Zeref was both excited and yet more distant than his usual self.
He felt horrible for his past actions. Was he ready to be a father when his hands are stained with blood more than any human from his home world? He shook his head. True what happened to Natsu was his fault, and him losing control and destroying their capital all lied on his selfish actions to bring their mother back home.
Without delay Natsu could tell just by looking at his older brother's face exactly what was tormenting him. He rushed to put his hands on either side of Zeref's face and cupped his cheeks before pulling them. With an annoyed tick mark, Nastu began yelling at his brother who in return with his own tick mark slammed his fist down on the salmon's head.
Ophis blinked a few times before having a slight giggle. Her two baby boys really were something else. They act just like she and Igneel did when they were young. However soon her mother side had to come out. She quickly got to their sides and pulled them apart before dropping her fists on both of their heads.
"Knuckle heads… Geez you two can't help but being yourselves. Ha ha. Truly a mother can't help but feel joy at seeing you two act this way." She smiled at them before pulling them in for a tight embrace. "Neither of you two need to worry about the past now. I am here. Your mother is here." She let a small smile hide her own tears. "And I'm not leaving either of you ever again."
She took turns at looking at them before focusing on Zeref. She held him up right and looked him in his matching eyes. They had the same deep purple eyes. Same hair color. Same pale skin. She felt more than anything he was meant to be just like her, and she was going to make sure he made his decisions from now on for his own self. He had to be selfish. Stop putting his brother and the rest of the family before himself. He wasn't a machine or a soldier meant to fight for them. None of them are.
"Zeref. You'll be a terrific father. Just as much as Igneel is to you. And maybe better than Natsu." She teased the other boy who got red in the face and wanted to argue but cut himself off the moment he saw his mothers face. Her beauty truly was unmatched, and he couldn't help but feel to just listen like a good son.
"Continue to provide support for Mavis."
Zeref nodded, hugged his mother and then took his wife's hand and led her away to the path past the home. There they went on and on till you could not see them past the vast forest. Since the entire dimensional plane is what Ophis made along with some assistance from her sister Esdeath, they nearly had an entire world to explore and settle down in.
Zeref even mentioned that perhaps they should just stay there forever, or at least a few hundred years, give or take when the kids are old enough. Mavis just stuck her tongue out at the idea and giggled.
"If we stayed here the entire time, it would be no different then living in fear. We all have the power to fight to protect our way of life. As much as I'm not one for needless battles and usually the more peaceful one, I refuse to be a slave to fear. I dealt with horrors in the past, which led me down the dark arts you taught me. Granted those hard times brought me a family I never once had, even a loving husband that I know will support me and our two kids." Mavis brought Zeref to a halt, spinning him to the side and looking up into his eyes, arms stretched.
"Zeref, I love you. I love Natsu-kun. I love Rory-chan." She said tightening her grip. "I will never forsaken our family. And I know you won't ever run. So please, if we have to fight… I want their blood on my hands as much as yours!" Her face changed.
Gone was the normal joyful, loving girl. Now all that remained was a veteran of harsh times, ready to fight to the point of no remorse. To kill her enemy right before her and her family. Her eyes became slitted, draconic in nature.
Zeref knew she was more serious now then even before. Her skin slowly became hardened scales, her irises completely golden with pupil emerald green. She was harnessing her rage and Will made manifest.
"Love, you're going to change. We gotta make room before you accidentally hurt me." Zeref said, slight joy in seeing his wife transform up close.
Mavis let go and before long laid on all fours a fully grown dragoness. Her scales were all white, her hair still flowing back in golden-blonde streaks. Her wings were wide and well formed to her back much like his mother's. Mavis let out a slight snarl as she blinked a few times gaining her new height.
"Mavis… How does it feel being a dragon again? You haven't been in this form much before, so make sure to relax and let it come naturally." Zeref started to worry, placing a hand on her snout.
"... You know Zeref…" She asked, her voice not changing much from her humanoid one. "It would be very funny to lick you all over now." She started to feel silly, even a bit lustful. Zeref picked up on this and crossed his arms in an 'X' form.
"Nope, we need to get much further away before we do anything like that." However Mavis ignored his statement. Instead, she licked him from head to toe before wrapping him in her tongue and taking him inside her maw. She closed her eyes, enjoying the taste of her husband.
She did however take note now that she still wasn't too far from the estate. Looking back now, she could see the main walls from her current spot. Thinking for a bit, she swirled her tongue around a bit tossing Zeref around before agreeing to his terms. She spread her wings and flew away, gaining much needed distance for her heated event with her beloved mate.
"You better calm down soon Mavis before I do something you won't like!" Zeref threatened playfully. For a response, Mavis blew a fireball from the back of her throat and hit him with it.
His clothes became ash and faded into nothingness. He took a moment to respond.
"Huh. I did not expect you to be able to control your roar like that. At least not this early. Ok, I give. Just try not to swallow me till we arrive somewhere we can truly unwind." He noted, getting her to move her head up and down in acknowledgement.
"You do know we can talk without moving our mouths dear. Or do you just want me to play along…"
Mavis did not respond as she only had one goal ahead, and oh boy Zeref was not going to be sleeping anytime soon.
X_X -Back with everyone else-
While sensing the transformation, Ophis looked over to see the newly birthed dragoness take flight. A smile came across her face, knowing her children were going to be very much ok. Zeref however unknown to her, was about to experience the ride of his life time.
After everyone got settled down, bags and everything placed in their respective rooms, an early dinner was cooked up. Igneel and Ophis made a bountiful pallet, food ranging from your standard flat iron steaks to some western style honey glazed ribs. Both of which were Igneel's prime cuts which he made sure were to his liking.
The guests were blown away at the selection of food, everyone seeing how basically it was a buffet. Happy to see everyone eat to their fill, Igneel raised a mug of ale and welcomed them all to their home once more.
They all mirrored his actions and drank their own drinks, being minors the devils stuck to sodas and water. Rossweisse however, unlike her younger devils, got very close to Laxus, asking him all sorts of questions already drunk. Sona laughed and couldn't help but comment how cute their babies would look, which Laxus was just stunned with all the attention. He looked over to Mira and Cana for help, both of which shook their heads and gave him their thumbs up in approval for the kids.
The Titan of a man sighed and just put up with the unrelenting comments and questions. Yet to some degree, the questions weren't vulgar or filled with much lust. Desire however was in strides, but that was for acknowledgement. Laxus and the snow-haired woman kept talking about random things and battles from their respected paths. Lots of interesting events transpired on both ends, however the rest of the company wanted to know more about Laxus.
Shortly every devil there gathered around and listened to Laxus go through his past. Issei for one was very curious how life was for his fellow dragons, including his partner Ddraig. The heavenly dragon introduced himself since he failed to do so earlier, wanting to clear the water and have a more noticeable presence. Laxus nodded and welcomed Ddraig and Issei to the group chatter.
He informed them he used to belong to the same guild and world as the rest of his family, and how things went there. Finding out that he had at times serious fights and brawls with Natsu shocked them, but expected such since dragons were known for their pride and rage. Laxus had won all of their single bouts, and lost one tag team when they were younger thanks to a dragonslayer named Gajeel.
"Dragon slayer huh… Sounds interesting. Say, wouldn't that be a magic that could be used against you know who..?" The drunk valkyrie slurred.
"Yes, dragonslayers in our home world? Err, dimension, were very strong mages. I know of just our own who could ever harm dragons, even the god slayers failed to do so." Laxus mentioned his bout with a god slayer Orga, who was nothing short of a huge push over for him.
"So Laxus, you were a dragon slayer then?" Akeno asked, very interested how that worked.
"I was, yes. For many years of my life I had to keep secret my magic origins, my root as we call it. Dragonslaying was an ancient lost art that nearly no one knew about. The first hand learning of it was what the first generation slayers experienced and received, direct training from their respected dragon. The guild all thought Natsu here was making it all up, being a dragon slayer till my grandfather requested to have him brawl with one of our older members. A fire mage who at that time was more than above average for a mage."
"Did Natsu win against him? Sounds unfair having a child go against an adult." Rias stated. "But I assume there's more than just a typical adult teaching a life lesson here…?" She crossed her arms, focusing on what her idea might be.
"Yes, Natsu did win. He was the one who got attacked first by flames, just to eat them up without a smigch of damage. It was the first time anyone in the guild had seen someone flat out eat someone's attack. To say they were stunned is under shooting it."
"Did you think it was strange as well then..?"
"No, neither did gramps. We both knew what slayers could do and that they excelled in their field like natural forces of nature. Being a lightning dragon slayer myself, I used to go out into thunderstorms and feast of lightning." His words made Akeno squirm.
"Hey I can eat Lightning too you know!" Natsu called over wanting to get in on the story time. He came by and sat next to his brother tapping mugs as Laxus continued.
Time passed on, till Laxus felt there was really nothing more interesting to mention. From there Nastu picked up if they were interested in hearing about his past in both his time home and then at the guild. They were to his surprise more than happy to know more about him, so he started spilling.
Deciding to start off when gramps found him wandering in the forest outside Magnolia, to when he first met a girl named Lucy. The mention of her name got Laxus to put an arm around his brother letting him know it's alright. A little saddened Natsu quickly recovered and went on. What came next was more of a shocker to the devils as Nastu mentioned the first time they traveled through dimensions.
An entire world that had no direct connection of magic, other than using stored up power cells and crystals for batteries. There the fairy tail mages where divided, either stuck in the huge lacrima crystal or running around trying to free their comrades and get back home.
"Oh yeah I heard about that, that happened not long after I was banished by gramps." Laxus said, chuckling about it. "I'd love to have met my other self there."
"Sad to say, your other self had passed on apparently years prior protecting their fairy tail guild. Everyone there was sad about it, especially the other me apparently." Natsu made note, getting Laxus to sigh at the news of his doubles fate. "Oh that reminds me," Nastu looked around, making sure a certain someone wasn't within ear sight. "Their version of Wendy was even more of an hourglass than Lisanna."
Laxus had to do a double take, startled by the news.
"Wait, there can be such a difference in shape between two halves?" He finished gaping, noticing the wind pick up slightly and adjusted his seating.
"Just her apparently. And oh boy she was tall too." Natsu whistled. "Man I can't wait for our Wendy to get that big!"
Without delay, a sucker punch to the face courtesy of the wind dragoness sent Nastu flying up in the air like a rocket breaking the clouds above. Wendy then turned her attention to Laxus and thanked him for moving just enough to allow her to get to Natsu without the pinkett noticing. Laxus smirked, noting that Natsu had asked for it.
At this point in time Zeref had finished up early with Mavis who was too busy getting used to her new body that she needed major rest inorder to deal with her unborn children. Much to both of their dismay, they figured it would be best to separate for the night in order not to cause harm to their kids. Plus Zeref needed to get cleaned off after all the things Mavis treated him to… Good thing the estate had plenty of those around. Once he finished his shower, he headed to the others to see what they were doing.
"Ok well I think what our guests really want to know is how we all got our memories back and arrived in their world. Err.. Dimension. I really don't like putting too much thought into it…" Wendy rubbed her head, having a headache from over-thinking the complicated matters.
Natsu returned and apologized to Wendy, giving her a kiss on the forehead making her blush then pout. In return she pulled his collar down and placed her lips against his. They were mates now, and she wanted to make sure they were viewed that way by everyone. Rory who was with Asia and Wendy earlier arrived with two drinks, one for her cousin who drank the entire mug in one go.
"I needed that. Thanks Rory." Wendy thanked her best friend, getting gun fingers for a response. "Anyways you join us Rory, I'm about to fill these girls in how we first got our memories back and got to where we are now."
Rory didn't need to be told twice and snuggled up against Natsu and Laxus. Having two of her brothers here made her beyond happy that she couldn't help smiling. Natsu gave her their trademark family grin which Laxus seemed to inherit magically thanks to Ophis. This made the two pink haired siblings gasp shortly before letting Laxus know he was very much one of them now. This made the blonde male blush and look away, grabbing his mug and drinking it.
"You siblings sure are a riot." Rias pointed out, getting agreements from the other devils and dragons present.
"Yeah, the truth is we need to make up for all these decades apart. I'm just super happy Laxus joined the family, that I can't wait to spend time doing all the cool stuff with him. Ohh! Laxus when we ever get time, we should totally go shopping and you be my bodyguard! No more foolish humans will ever bother me again when I go clothes shopping!" Rory said with stars in her eyes.
"Oh yes, count me on that! You too Wendy!" Serafall said, making their normal two person group a perfect three triangle. "You, Rory and myself will take the world by storm!" Serafall raised her magical girl staff that she always kept with her.
Laxus just gulped, looking at Natsu for support who just said he'd help him out with it. He wouldn't leave his brother to such a terrible fate, he'd risk his neck as well. Laxus thanked Natsu from the bottom of his heart.
"Ok back to what we were saying." Wendy got everyone's attention once again back on her. "Our history is not clean and blood is on almost all of our hands. Laxus having the cleanest of us… As we broke apart from our former empire, Zeref had forced Natsu into a state where he was hibernating, recovering in stasis from his fight against Igneel and Zeref. Natsu's brief time in his hybrid bastard form nearly did as much damage to our home as our uncle did. Truth is, as much as the rest of us have told Natsu already, he will never forgive himself."
"Woah, wait up pause." Issei put his hands up, confused at this point. "What happened, I feel like we're all missing a big part." Wendy went wide eyed, blinking a few times till it hit her.
"Ooh… Sorry I thought Natsu already told you guys about… well our beginning."
"A little, but what really happened that split you guys up?" Issei asked, just getting a blank stare from Wendy who turned to Natsu who gave a small smile.
"I'll take it from here Wendy. Laxus deserves to know it as well." Natsu stretched his arms a bit and got himself comfortable. "Early on in my life we grew up in our home world, nothing too far out of the normal. Something you can relate to here Rias, Serafall, Sonia…" He looked at all three mentioned girls. "My family once were the successors of the most powerful beings to ever exist. Dragon Primordials. Beings so powerful that they could bend creation to their sole beliefs. As dragons, our grandparents decided to create an entire empire dedicated to our race, nothing but dragons for the entire continent. This however royally pissed off the other gods and primordials to the point they went into an all out war. Neither side looked like they would ever give in till the other ceased to exist."
"That has to be one heavy war. A blood bath that'll cover the whole world." Akeno said, thinking if their planet had the same size and equivalent amount of powerful figures.
"Yes, Our entire planet, unlike yours, is nearly the size of Jupiter. Anyways, after a near half century both sides came to an agreement. Instead of continuing the endless bloodshed, both sides would agree to a competition. A duel between each side's best warrior. Winner would take full claims to the continent."
"Oh so your grandparents fought someone in a duel and then got sole rights to your empire..?" Koneko asked, a little scared to hear me.
"Not far off, but also not correct. Our empire soon became the entire planet. But i'm getting to far ahead there. The duel was between each sides best warrior. Yet it wasn't as simple as a one versus one. You see our faction, our family was one side. And our side was against everyone. Every other major faction, race or deity was stacked up against us."
"Instead of our grandparents fighting which would've been the end of the world, our father Igneel was selected by his parents. He was picked to be the one everyone would have their eyes on. He was to be their champion." Zeref picked up after Natsu, feeling the need to do so since he was actually alive and conscious whereas natsu was still not born yet.
"Igneel went up against hundreds of gods and a dozen or so primordials. Even some Titans wanted in on the battle not that anything the world was big enough for them to find joy in." Zeref gave a small smirk. " I still remember when the titan of Fire made a solo challenge, if he beat my father in a battle he could take mother as a concubine. Auntie Esdeath and Irene here had to hold her back before mom ended the fool herself. Man I never saw mother that angry before."
"Wow, I've never seen mother get angry before. I hope I never do." Rory gulped.
"Yeah it was a sight alright. Anyways, Igneel proceeded to humor the titan who had no desire for a fair and honorable duel. The Titan used his tricks and smoke to blast away at dad, all to no avail. Dad just sighed, walked up to the fool and with his head hung high above the shorter titan, he brought it down heavy with a headbut. He did this repeatedly, blood of the titan grazing the ground in all its liquid gold. When the titan recovered and reappeared to the side in a blaze of his flames, he once again went for a barrage of fire balls. Still no effect."
"There's no fire in existence that can harm father." Natsu said proudly, getting his other two siblings to nod in agreement, leaving Laxus sidelined since he still doesn't know too much yet.
"Dad then decided to stop playing around and without delay, he punched straight through the titan's head, the Dragon Kings Ironfist. It shocked the spectators who thought dad wouldn't be able to harm the very being who supposedly created fire. The only ones who had no doubt were just my family, I myself included. But that was mainly because I thought my dad at that time was unstoppable."
"You know he is. So is mom. Neither one of them has ever lost a fight."
"Yes Natsu, now please let me hurry this up so we can get onto the rest of our tragic past." Zeref sighed bringing a hand to his forehead to calm down. "Father then continued to beat all the remaining challengers as they rushed him. Within an hour he had defeated them all. Those who were happy with the results and protested died shortly after. The entire tournament was a complete waste of time, as the gods and deities were then pushed to near extinction. When only a mere fraction of them all remained, did they cease to fight and instead opted out to hopefully live in peace."
"Father had killed all the other primordials that opposed us. By the end of it, only two titans remained along with a bunch of the weaker gods. The demons and dark gods reluctantly backed off from the war entirely as they themselves were at that time just a handful. They wouldn't have lasted one hour." Rory brought up, as she recalled what their mother had told her about Igneel's battles.
"After about three years, Natsu was born, and grandfather announced the very first dragon king festival. Mother and Natsu spent lots of time together, hanging out with our cousins Kyouka and Seilah and their mothers. Meanwhile my father and I went around the continent greeting the people as their rulers. The dragons welcomed us with great admiration and love. A few years passed and Nastu had made lots of friends, ones you know well, Yasaka and Jenna." Natsu then cut Zeref off, wanting to take this in his direction.
"Ok yeah, lets not go into exactly what happened when I was in my early teens." Natsu eyed Zeref who understood right away why and allowed his younger brother to continue. "One day our Grandparents decide to have an imperial envision. They wanted to expand their rule across all time and space. So they set out to do so. However they then proceeded to have a fight between their kids where Igneel was made out to be the one at fault. Igneel-dad, didn't want to invade other worlds and be a conqueror. He enjoyed peace and just being with his family. However this was unacceptable to our grandparents who then used their powers to get our parents to fight one another."
Igneel decided it was his turn to step in on this, as it was his story to tell.
"I'll take it from here, you kids don;t need to go through this again." Igneel sat down besides his four kids and got the devils to all look at him, waiting for him to speak once more.
"My parents and ophis' were the Dragon gods of creation and Will. No one in our entire existence could ever have matched up against them other than their own kids. Which we had no choice but to. My mother decided that I became too soft after having a second child, and wanted that weakness erased. She targeted Natsu through me and Ophis' mother did the same to her. Both of us got manipulated into trying to kill our own son, and if it weren't for Zeref being the blessing of a son he is, I dread think all of existence would be remodeled right now. Zeref being the wise child he was, broke our bindings and got us to target each other for a little bit till neither one of us could outlast the other. Once we ran out of all strength, the holds our parents had on us shattered. We recovered slowly and knew what we had to do. We stormed our parents home, killed all who stood before us till we had to deal with our foolish kin that dared defend the tyrants." Igneel took a breather here as he didn't like this part.
"I had to kill a few of my siblings, all younger than me as I was the oldest child. Ophis had to deal with her bastard of a brother who I much later on had to deal with again." Ophis lowered her head at this, agreeing it was her failure to deal with Acknologia herself. Letting him live was the second worst mistake of her life, one that cost her dearly.
"Our battles with our parents raged on for days, the destruction that followed was worse than it was years prior with the great war. We ended up winning, much to our own surprise as we didn't expect to surpass the unsurpassable. Yet it made sense considering what was at stake should we fail."
"You fought with your parents for days, nearly ending your world, then what happened?" Rias asked, a bit shocked at the news. "Sorry I'm still surprised the infinite dragon god had parents. Please forgive me." Rias bowed he her slightly, not meaning to be rude.
"It's quite alright. No offense was taken, you're very much alright to speak freely here. I welcome my sons friends with open arms, even if they might end up being my future inlaws." Ophis spoke for Igneel, coming to his side and placing her hands to both sides of his shoulders.
"After we over threw our parents, a new dragon king festival was requested. One for the true dragon king, and despite what it would seem as a happy time to then celebrate our victory, I ran away. I fled to a new dimension, being the dimensional gap. I wanted peace and quiet from the war turned world that I had helped forge. I feared what my kids would think of me, even the one was then pregnant with."
"I didn't want my boys or my girl turning out like me so I figured that a fresh new life would be best. Without me the boys would be able to grow up proper and not so scared, not forced to fight their parents' battles. I was very wrong about this." Ophis then went to pull her son Natsu tight into a hug. "My poor sons tried to get my attention, trying to boost their own power in hopes of having me acknowledge them. What came from their taboo was the destruction of the capital and Natsu's near death."
"My brother reached what would be considered a cursed dragon force form, what would be the final stage of a dragon slayer's evolution. However for a pure born dragon, it was the same as forcing all your cells to fight themselves, scales and skin shedding trying to overlap one another. It was in fact killing him. His power peeked, going wild. His natural rage boosted to a level he couldn't differ from that of a wild animal." Zeref looked to his younger brother with a broken heart.
"I turned my brother into a killing machine that ended up hurting our friends and cousins. If it wasn't for Igneel, father knocking sense into me, we would have lost Kyouka, Seilah, Jackal and the others. I had to turn them into books in order to save them. However, doing so cursed me since it was dark magic." Natsu freed himself from his mother's grip slowly and kissed her hand.
"It was a horrible time I wanted to avoid telling, as each time it's as though I'm reliving that horrific nightmare. But now you know. Also during this time, our uncle Acknologia went on a great purge amongst the lands, killing most of our race to prove his might. If dad wasn't busy trying to take care of us, he would've dealt with that bastard. But it was too late, together with my uncle's help, we destroyed most of the continent. The entire world had to be reshaped after our battles to the point all the remaining lands got restructured and any knowledge of the past was removed."
"We had help from some of the remaining time dragons, they had wiped all knowledge of our kingdom, race and world to near nothing. At this, the human race became the dominant species that roamed the world." Igneel said, noting help from his old friends who passed on centuries ago. "Ophis' baby sister was the last one that remained, Annabell. However she became lost to a gate of her own creation that we still have no idea how to work."
"Well, she definitely had an offspring, considering Lucy and her mother. Lucy for one definitely has the same blonde running through her veins." Natsu spoke up before looking down at his feet. "If only I knew sooner… Now she's left alone back on Earthland. I'm so stupid!" Ne started to shake in anger, needing his mother to calm him down.
The devils seemed to be a bit lost with how fast their hosts were talking, so some much needed break down was needed. This was done by Rory who wanted her turn to talk.
"Ok so first part is: Our parents are very strong, they fought against their parents and won. Big scale wars happened, and after they won mother broke away because she was worried that it was her fault. Zeref-nii and Natsu-nii tried to get her to come back and screwed up royally that cost the entire empire its existence. Seilah-nee and Kyouka-nee were hurt badly trying to stop Natsu and had to recover by being sealed away in books. Father and Zeref-nii fought natsu and forced him to his near death in order to save him from destroying himself further, the cost was his memory and most of his body." She took a break, getting everyone to catch up to this point.
"A bad dragon, our uncle Acknologia, went on a purge of our own race and anyone who stood in his way. He grew tired of the weak resistance and went into hibernation for a time. Aunt Anna, a dragon goddess of time and space invented a Portal, the eclipse gate and sent the surviving human children, turned dragon slayers that survived into the future. Wendy and Natsu stayed behind in a pocket dimension where they learned their 'dragon slaying magic' from their hosts. All of them would meet up, or at least were supposed to with Aunt Anna in the future but something went wrong and she went missing. As for the world, Earthland had to be remade and all of the past was altered so humans could live in peace."
"Wow, a lot happened. It sounds like your wars were the size of our great one, maybe even bigger." Rias noted, wanting to get Ophis' opinion.
"The great war here in your world was about half the size and populace of ours. The notion however isn't far off though so good job there." Ophis smiled at the red haired heiress. "Shame someone smart as yourself isn't part of our family.. AT least not yet." She giggled to herself, getting Natsu to laugh along with the rest of their family while Issei's jaw dropped and Rias blushed madly.
"Oh no, I'm not worthy of Natsu-sama. Please forgive me, I don't want to sound rude."
"Oh there's more than just him, Zeref, and Laxus are other options as well. Or you could always go for Little Mikey here." She gestured to the young wolf boy who blushed redder than Rias' hair. "You two aren't that far apart age wise I assume."
"Well Mikey is ours!" Luna and Kunou grabbed him, getting very over protective of their little brother. "If he wants a third we'll keep you in mind!"
This got Mikey to pass out, the embarrassment was too much for the young blood. Yasaka came over and picked her adopted son up and brought him to his room. His two sisters followed at her heel, getting the mother to whisper her "ara~ara~" which got the girls to blush as well.
"You two got to give poor Mikey some space sometimes. The young boy can't be suffocated this much, it's unhealthy for him!" She warned, receiving a yes auntie/mother from the two girls. "As his older sisters you gotta let him stretch his legs out. Let him get his feet wet. Being a male in this family means he needs to have multiple mates, maybe more than just you two. You have to learn that, as did I and the rest of your father's mates." Yasaka placed the boy down on his bed, curling up next to him as his sisters did the same. "Now come, we can rest for now and make plans after we all wake up. Sleep well my children."
"Yes momma."
"Yes auntie."
Back with the others, Jenna took her place next to Seilah after Yasaka left with the kids. She smiled at her long time friend and sister. The two shared a bottle of whiskey, one of Igneel's stash. The wolfess turned to Rias, the devil who Ophis just mentioned as a possible mate for Mikey. She didn't want to admit it here, but she could see the two of them getting close. Both were considered royalty. Both had destructive power, and were very close to the same age, at least she thought that.
"Hey Rias-chan…" She called the attention of the redhead. "If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I truly don't want to assume too much here, same goes for your Queen Akeno-chan."
Akeno for one didn't mind answering for herself, but Rias was the one being asked so she kept quiet for now. Rias noticed this and silently thanked her queen for the respect shown.
"Not at all Jenna-sama, I don't find it rude at all. Personally I'm almost a thousand years old. Akeno is just a few months younger, the same year otherwise." Issei at the news of this was beyond shocked. His fellow students, his senpai's were centuries older than him, nearly an entire thousand years. Asia and Xenovia just ignored the details as it really didn't bother them in any way, also in the same boat as him once being human.
"Yes, we seem to be rather old despite our youthful appearance." Akeno giggled as she usually does, locking her eyes on Koneko who wasn't much younger than her either. "We were all roughly the same age and region. Rias-san here found me right after I saw my mother get killed right before my eyes. I blamed my father, Baraquiel who failed to protect us. She took me in as her first servant, her queen chess piece. We've been together ever since."
Laxus became uneasy after hearing Akeno's calm demeanor after witnessing her mother die right before her. This brought back bad memories when his mother too, died right before his eyes when he was around six. It seems he had much in common with his fellow lightning user. Maybe he could get to know her some more later on…
"Hmm not bad I say. You girls are still very young, and the truth is Mikey is actually older than you. Maybe having him in your class would've been better than as an underclassman… Ah well, I've known you girls for a long time, you always visited the capital with your brother there, Rias. How is the young Lord doing?"
"Ahh he is fine. The sis-con that he is, I'm surprised he hasn't been talking much lately. He seems a little distant like he's dealing with something he wants no one to know about. Knowing him, it'll be some prank to get me to confess something embarrassing." Rias smiled, glad she could talk freely like this. "I'm happy I can talk about this. Normally being around just my peerage it's a little stiff as everyone just sees me as their king."
"Yes, take a load off while you're here. Please. This place is going to be your home for a little while, so it's best to make the most of it." Jenna laughed, raising a bottle up before downing it in one go. "Papa, I want another one…." She slurred her words, already drunk from the liquor.
Igneel sighed knowing it was a losing battle trying to deny her more. He got up from his seat and went to get her more booze. However with this next bottle he told her it was her last one and he was rationing her. Seilah laughed at her sister who just said she'd take hers instead when she ran out.
"So how was it like growing up the second time around in that guild of wizards? Any cool ones with magic staffs and long beards?" Issei asked, and Rias jumped to ask, both very fascinated in wizards.
Their actions got Natsu and his fellow ex-mages of the guild to spit out their drinks. All of them were surprised and started chuckling. Erza was the one to speak up from here, getting the go ahead from Natsu.
"Well to be honest, most mages never used any sort of staff. Lots of us used bare knuckle spells without any books or anchors. As you know, I personally use my type, Equip, for my calling card." She said, more so to her family who nodded. "Back on Earthland the amount of mages and wizards ranged greatly, and exact numbers were in the mere millions. It was rare to find someone who didn't have a connection to magic in some way."
"So Equip, what's that? Err, your magic right? Sounds like some sort of ability enhancer." Issei guessed.
"Very accurate but not exactly. My equip ability allows me to summon any sort of weapon, armor or manned instrument to my side. Many times over, I've used my ability to fit the cause and need of countless battles and missions I've gone on." Erza said with a confident smirk.
"Lisanna and myself are originally both take-over-mages." Mirajanne said, letting the others open up to the new speaker. "I took over demons while Lis was more into animals."
"Mira-nee was dubbed the demon queen. That name stuck with her for a long time." Lisanna nudged her big sister. "As for me, Natsu used to always call me his little bunny or cat." She stuck her tongue out at her mate who started to get red in the face, embarrassed about the nicknames considering they could be looked at sexually.
Cana decided it was her turn next, and to most of her fellow guild mates surprise, she was drinking water and not alcohol. The normal drunken bar maiden seems to be changing things up, going sober.
"I am a caster mage, I specialize in cards, magic ones that is. Not a good gambler…" She rubbed the back of her head with a slight smile. "It's pretty much self explanatory."
"Wow. You guys are so cool." Issei roared in joy and excitement. "Still a little bummed about the gray wizards." He sulked, comically.
"I agree! I'm so happy I got to meet such amazing people, the lord must be watching over me!" Asia exclaimed, ecstatic. "Oh that reminds me since we're on the topic of you guys and your magic…" Asia turned to Natsu's mates in particular. "Do you girls have new powers now that you're Natsu's mates? Like are you girls now dragons? At least that's how it would work here… I mean on Earth."
"Oh yes, you're correct. We all gained the same base element Natsu has." All the mates summoned a ball of fire in their palms, dismissing it as Mira continued. "In every sense of the way, we bonded and became one with him. His magic now runs through our veins along with his dragneel blood." Mira spoke, continuing to pet her sister's head. "To be honest, from what we know and from what Ophis and Igneel told us, we're now in every way their blood. Once the mating process starts and the exchange of blood happens, the dragon cells and plasma take complete dominance over their mates' natural ones, thus overriding their D-N-A."
"They're now completely dragons. My cells along with Igneel's run through them. They are now in every way our children. Same goes for Natsu's other mates." She eye balled Serafall. "Soon since your devil blood will take some to adjust to its future replacement, you'll most likely be very tired for the next few days."
"Well, glad I have no point of going anywhere else! I'm here with my new family, and besties!" The ultimate devil smiled joyfully as she hugged Rory and Wendy.
"As for Yasaka, Jenna, Seilah and Kyouka," Ophis mentioned her oldest daughters and nieces. "You four have already had your dragon blood in you either by birth or centuries of being natsu's first mates. Seilah, being my niece born from Acknologia and his mate. And Kyouka being Irene's oldest daughter."
"Yes, as much as I hate to admit that the bastard was indeed my father. I still am beyond grateful I have such a loving family, at least some good from this cursed blood within my veins." Seilah smirked before looking down upset.
"Trust me darling, our entire bloodline is what is cursed. Look at your grandparents after all, my and Igneel's parents. They alone are responsible for what nearly destroyed our home world and dimension. So don't fret love, you're not alone in this." Ophis hugged her niece. "I may not have been your birth mother, but my blood still runs through your very veins. Like all of my children, I love you and I will never forsake you."
Everyone smiled and allowed the two women their moment of bonding in peace. Kyouka and Yasaka cracked a joke about it, getting a death glare from Seilah. Seilah whispered something only Ophis could pick up on and before long Yasaka and Kyouka were pinching each other's cheeks hard. Seilah from there whispered once more, getting the two girls to then step on each other's feet, and their cries of pain echoed throughout the house.
"Serves you girls right.. Teasing poor Seilah." Jenna grinned with a smug fang showing. The smug wolf however didn't get away from Ophis who reminded her of her past ways of being the prankster amongst the kids.
Natsu pointed his finger at the wolf who glared daggers that promised a world of pain for him. Natsu quickly knocked it off and looked away not to incur anymore of the wolf's wrath. He knew far well enough that Jenna would get even, she always does…
"Now then, Issei if you don't mind me asking…"Igneel began, looking at the red dragon emperor host. "Have you any interest in getting closer to Ddriag?" This peeked everyone's interest, mainly the other dragons gathered around. "If I recall what Ophis had told me earlier, you went into your juggernaut drive. No control whatsoever… Lack of training I assume."
"Yes, and on top of my lack of interest in learning more about my previous seniors, I found out that I am the weakest red dragon emperor that has ever lived. My raw emotions had me snap, and I nearly killed my fellow peerage mates. I can't forgive myself for my actions…:" Issei really felt bad, knowing that the others have already told him to forgive himself.
"Stop that right now Issei." Asia spoke up. "You did that for me. You thought I died right before your very eyes."
"If that's the case, your rage for one was a major boost. Losing a loved one does tend to either empower yourself, or break you. Mostly every dragon I've ever known would've acted the same way. That, the way you acted and lashed out is the key to your growth. You will get stronger from this, count on it." Natsu said.
"The reason I asked is, from the few times I've met Ddraig in his previous 'life', he hasn't been close to his prior hosts for years. If you wish to get stronger, you will unleash the ability to become a true dragon."
"No way that's true. Ddraig, y-you gotta be kidding me…" Issei looked down at his arm which soon was replaced by his partner.
Glowing green Ddraig spoke his side. His words froze Issei solid, the young devil-dragon couldn't believe what he was being told.
"-You will be able to reach a state of Absolute Domination. Once there, you will be on par with the God of the bible. Reaching that level, you will become the most powerful devil, and will be able to mend your fate into near immortality."
"He will become the strongest red dragon emperor that has ever lived." Xenovia spoke, amazinged and shocked by the news.
"He will be the second, second to myself that is." Ddraig paused, checking to see if his partner was still breathing. "Issei, should you wish for it you'd be able to be my kin. Form the mettle needed to lock out your weaknesses and work on improving your strengths. Once far enough down the line you will be able to change your body itself to more draconic. Far more than that of the juggernaut drive form."
Natsu whistled. Not knowing much, but from what he gathered once he got the roughing of this new dimension, he understood that Ddraig was in-fact one of the most powerful beings to exist. All in all, he was looking forward to seeing a fellow dragon outside his family. there was still great red, but he knew his mother did not like him. Natsu gave Issei a thumbs up and offered to help him train once more, saying that they could work on it while they spent their time here.
"Hey Ddraig, I have a question for you." Natsu pondered his nex words. "When you say kin, you mean like a son right? Do you have any kin currently?"
"Yes, I do. I have a few sisters, all older than myself that similar to your family, left their original dimension, leaving me and Albion alone. No offspring however. Never had a chance to do so considering how long we've been at eachothers throats." He refenced his long time rival, Albion who he still despised without any sight of mercy.
"Oh so your sisters left, I took it before the great war your world had?"
"Yes, if they stayed they would've helped me defeat Albion. However as a Dragon, my pride would have resisted any assistance from them. Yet their numbers would eventually get past me to finish the fight much to my displeasure."
X_X Few hours later
After another few hours of random questions and fun stories going back and forth, everyone decided it was time to call it a night. With a snap of her fingers, Ophis replaced the sun with a moon. Nearly everyone went with their respective pairs, and headed to their rooms minus Natsu and Ophis. The mother and son had some things they wished to talk about, which neither wanted to bother anyone else with.
"So what's on your mind my son." Ophis asked her son, who turned to the taller woman and rushed her for a tight hug. Ophis returned the embrace tightly as well, knowing that her son needed it. "Go ahead, tell me what it is." She patted his head.
"Mother… I know I'm not strong enough to fight these upcoming battles. I do not want to be a burden to you and the rest of my elders." Ophis pinched his cheeks at the notice of being called old. "S-sorry mum. But I'm serious. I know Zeref-nii also feels the same way I do."
"You are worried about having more cousins out there that may or may not be stronger than you… Rest easy, both you and your brother are the oldest remaining of the younger kin. Your one older cousin you ran into already, has been dead for a long time, leaving Zeref and you as the next in line."
"I figured that much, however I worry more about their numbers. If dad and you had so many siblings, I assume that other than them, their kids could overwhelm us. Not you and Dad, or any of my aunties, but the rest of us."
"Do you truly feel fear..? You must've learned that from your time pretending to be mortal, a human." Ophis pondered. Her son Natsu was never afraid of anything, even being disciplined by his parents. As a dragon god, fear was nearly always absent. A concept that rarely ever crossed their minds.
Yet as a parent, Ophis could tell now Natsu was feeling the same as she did when she made the worst mistake of her life. The fear of losing your loved ones, the very kids he just got to know would destroy him far more than anyone could believe. Despite being their grandmother, even her own rage would fail in comparison to her son. Maybe because of centuries of being emotionless…
She shook it off. From here on she vowed to herself that Nastu will have her unyielding support. Never knowing rage to the degree of a widowed mother, should time become her enemy she will destroy all of reality. Natsu was her prized child, one who had suffered more than anyone she's ever known.
As much as she and Igneel had discussed, out of all their children, Natsu was the one who had the chance to surpass them. He might not show it, but from what Ophis could sense from the moment Natsu first arrived here, the moment he 'saved' her… His power had grown to equal that of his late uncle, Acknologia. Being young as he is, this leads to his near limitless potential.
"Natsu, your mother will be on your side forever. I will never leave you, and if you so wished it I'll erase this world and start anew."
Natsu looked up at his mother, her beautiful face carrying a heavy lip as she worried for him. It was a beautiful sight, despite being sad hearted. He shook it off however and began to recover.
"Mother… You're more than I could ever ask for. I'm not worthy to be your child, the blood in my veins are for someone far more worthy than I-" Ophis slapped him into the ground.
Gone was her normal and sadden look, replaced by pure suffrage and a mothers rage. Natsu was shell shocked, and before he could even make eye contact once more, Ophis grabbed him by the back of his neck and threw him far, far away.
She remained silent, her bangs covering her eyes. She was shaking on the inside, her emotions had taken complete control at this point. And now Natsu was about to experience it all first hand. Without watching, she slowly started walking forward before breaking out into a sprint. She then leaped into the air and flew in the direction of Natsu.
She met him in the air before sending a wicked right hook to his face once more, this time sending him hurtling into a mountain. She raised her hand, still up in the sky above Natsu. With a snap of her fingers, the trees around Natsu became unrooted and lifted up to her level. Another snap, she sent them down to her son. The unrelenting mother did not stop…
When she ran out of trees, she then got to Natsu's side and picked him up by his hair. From here on, if anyone was watching they'd be beyond shocked. Ophis then tightened her free hand and proceeded to pummel Natsu in the face. This sent shock waves around the realm. The snow from the mountain tops began to fall, rolling down destroying all remaining trees.
Her hand got 'tired', and she switched hands and then pursued to gut punch the young male. By the time Natsu started to cough up his own blood did she let him fall to the ground. She then knelt down to him, getting close to his face and told him how she felt.
"You ever talk bad about yourself, feel unworthy of your heritage like that again…I will make you so. You are my pride and joy. Your father would have given you an even harsher beating if he were to have heard you." She was all over the place, her thoughts raced through her as she tried to get what she needed to say out.
Ophis then grabbed his head and placed it on her lap as she slowly played with his hair. She began speaking in her natural tongue, her draconic words melding her son's pain, be it slowly. She didn't fully heal him, no he needed to learn his lesson. He had to live for now with the consequences of his actions. Truly it hurt her more the fact he ever felt that way about himself.
"My dear sweet boy… Don't ever hurt your mother like this again. My heart can't take it."
"Mother I-I… I love you. I will never do or say that again." He said quickly, hoping she was alright and not in pain. His words before rang through his head, and now after the beating of his life time did he understood why everything just happened.
"Natsu, you have no reason to ever doubt yourself. You are my son. MY SON. I take pride in the fact I have such a wonderful kind hearted and blessed child to call mine. You don't bring dishonor or shame to your blood, you honor it. You have done what your father and I have, you've expanded our legacy to another generation. Take pride in that."
"Yeah.. I am a father after all. I gotta start acting like it. I can't let them see me like this." he tried to get up but to no avail.
"You're not going anywhere, mister. Your mother wants you to stay here, right where you are." She held him down with just one hand, her strength still leagues above his. "We will need to have some time to bond more. A nice mother and son date, free from everyone else. Just you and me." She looked up, seeing Her sisters Irene and Esdeath admire the show.
"Go deal with everyone. Let them know Natsu and I shall be away for a while." Ophis alerted the onlookers, who left without saying a word. "Good , now then Natsu…" She leaned in and gave him a kiss on the forehead.
"I want you to think of a place, any palace that you would like to go."
X_X
A/N: End of chapter XII- Twelve.
Ok- Ophis as we all know is a Dragon god. As a dragon, pride is something in their DNA. As a mother, it doubles for her kids. Natsu is still young and naive, as are his siblings and cousins.
As for the one sided beatdown, Ophis couldn't stand by and let her son once more degrade himself. She loves him and is beyond proud of the young man he has become. Seeing Natsu was still doubting himself, saying he was not worthy of his blood just shattered her heart.
She had to break him, make him understand what path he was starting, was the wrong one. Forcing him to her side and seeing the error in his ways was one of the hardest experiences she had to go through with him. And to make it up to Natsu, she plans on taking him far away for some much needed bonding time.
Natsu's harem (As-of-now): the fairies, Wendy, Sayla, Kyouka, Yasaka, Jenna, Serafall, and Rory. Akeno along with Rias are staying with Issei for *now* Issei will still have his girls, minus the ones mentioned above if the story turns.
Laxus as of now- Laxus being one of my all time favorite black sheeps, will get a few girls for a little harem. But you'll have to wait for that.
