Chapter 28: Reactions
He reacted quickly, without thinking, just as she did the same. Her hands reached up, already aglow with heat, as his sand came swooping around her, a strong arm around her waist. Akira felt her heart jump in her throat as she sailed away from the impending wall of earth.
Gaara eased them down, Akira's back to his chest, her hands close to her own chest, slowing cooling, careful not to touch her clothes.
He gently went to move his arm, as her feet touched solid ground. She jerked away from him, only for her hand to brush against him.
