Chapter 30: Burning Hope
Akira looked up at him in almost shocked awe, and mumbled something he almost didn't hear.
"You don't burn?" Her questioning words rang in his head clear as day, full of speculation.
He blinked, stunned, and then there was shouting, people coming toward them in waves all of them concerned at the stab of earth that almost crushed them. He watched her stiffen before moving past him, her eyes glancing at him over one more time, although trying to convince herself he was fine. She met the crowd halfway, already trying to ease their minds as Gaara stared after her.
