After Story

Three and a Half Years Later . . .

While the month of January was usually seen as the coldest out of the twelve, Naruto always found that there was usually a week-long stretch either at the end of February or the beginning of March that was even more bitterly cold; as if it was mother nature's final 'fuck you' before spring started to arrive.

It just so happened that this final stretch of icy cold weather was the week that Naruto and his small crew of electricians had finished a small project that had been north of Konoha Energy. While the job itself was relatively simple and merely a small turnaround task, it was the location of the project that made it rather difficult. The closest town to the remote oilfield site was a small village with less than a thousand people, a motel, one grocery store and one bar/restaurant; there was practically no cell service and the slowest internet speed on the planet. This is why most people who were asked if they wanted to do the job immediately turned down the offer.

Naruto had been one of the original people to turn the job down initially. February was turning out to be a slow month at Konoha Energy, and before things were supposed to pick up in the middle of March, he had planned to take some time off with his family. He had been first asked during the start of his usual nine-day shift and then once more on day four. However, as the end of his work shift was coming to a close, Neji himself had called, practically begging for Naruto to be the lead foreman on this small two-week project. Once again, he declined, but then his wife's cousin was able to spark his interest when the proposition of overtime and double pay was offered for the entire length of the small job.

It was indeed tempting. Two weeks, twelve-hour days, and it would be time and a half and double pay? The blonde Lead Foreman couldn't deny that he almost said yes, but told Neji that he would need to consult with Hinata first before making any decisions.

He fully expected his wife to strike down the idea of working an extra two-week job. However, he highly expected that her family had already spoken to her about it because she was in full agreeance that if he wanted to do the job, she would support him. Naruto was surprised; however, Hinata reminded him that he would be off for three weeks with his family and friends if he chose to accept the small job.

In the end, it was a proposition too irresistible to say no to; which led the blonde electrician to where he was now . . .

Naruto grumbled under his breath and tried to pull his toque down for the tenth time in an attempt to protect his ears from the biting wind. While technically it was only minus thirty degrees Celsius, with the wind chill, it felt more like minus forty. With all the layers he had on and even the hand and toe warmers, the cold was so harsh that it felt like his bones had ice on them. It was hard to ignore the freezing temperatures, but he tried his best while loading up the tool trailer with the last of their tools and material. The rest of his six-man crew were doing the same while also inspecting the small lunch trailer they had used over the last two weeks to make sure nothing was left behind.

"Just a few more sticks of strut and tray, and I think we have everything, boss!" shouted Makoto over the wind.

He regarded the second-year apprentice with a curt nod, "Are we sure that's it? I don't want to leave any material here, but I know it's hard to tell with all this snow and wind."

Makoto nodded, "Ryota and Junichi were practically digging in the snow to make sure. I promised them I would buy them a coffee if they checked all the snow drifts."

Naruto bit the inside of his cheek and almost wanted to scold the second year for taking advantage of the two first years but decided it was best not to say anything. "Alright, I'll trust you guys on this. Let's sweep the area more, and then we will head out in less than fifteen minutes."

The second-year apprentice followed him off the trailer, and they quickly did a scan of the area.

Naruto's blue eyes squinted due to the wind and the setting sun; it was only 4pm, but their natural light would be completely gone in half an hour. From what he could tell, they had gotten everything as he watched the two first years load up the last of the material. And while he wanted to do just one more lap around the small site, Naruto couldn't bring himself to stay out in the freezing weather any longer. After his younger apprentices gave him the thumbs up, he locked the back of the trailer and motioned for them to head to the lunch trailer where the other three electricians were.

The once warm lunch trailer that had been their salvation during the last two weeks was now deathly cold and dark, only being lit from either the last rays of the sun or the flashlights they had brought. The generator that had been used to power the small trailer had been taken away an hour ago to another site.

Hayate, a fourth-year apprentice, was trying to finish writing up the closing remarks on their permit but kept having to stop and warm up his pen since it kept freezing. Meanwhile, Shota and Hina were stacking the chairs and folding the tables they had been using.

"Alright, everything good to go now?" Naruto asked gruffly, not wanting to waste any more time.

Shota was the first to speak, "You betcha, boss. We just need to drop off this paperwork and the permit Hayate is finishing up, and then we are free to head out."

The journeyman electrician passed Naruto a folder full of papers, but he didn't bother to look at them; he trusted that Shota had all the documents in order.

"Excellent. Hayate, you can finish that permit in the truck. Let's get the hell out of here, crew." Naruto announced before motioning for them to head to the two running trucks.

"Fucking hell yes. If you had told me this two-week shift would have been this cold, I would have said no," grumbled Ryota as they stepped outside.

Naruto held the door open for all of his apprentices and one journeyman. "I hear ya, but our bank accounts will look pretty nice once they pay us for this job. I'll drive the truck connected to the trailer. Shota, I want you to handle the other truck. I'm unsure how the roads will look with all this snow we've been getting. As for the rest of you, just pick a truck to ride in; I don't care which one."

As they all marched towards the running vehicles, Naruto released a mental sigh that they were finally leaving the desolated site and heading back to Konoha Energy. It was almost a three-hour drive back, but they would get there just before the kitchen would close and rest their heads on beds that were soft with warm rooms. The motel they had occupied over the last few weeks almost felt like something out of a horror movie. While the owners were friendly people and the meals in the family restaurant every morning and evening had been excellent, the rooms were old, and the heaters in their rooms either produced too much heat to the point that you were sweating uncontrollably or not enough heat to where you had to put on some of your winter gear for bed.

Neji had warned him that it was a rough area, and this site's three-year overhaul was usually done in the summer. However, due to some miscommunication, the site hadn't gotten completed during June and needed to be done as soon as possible.

Naruto opened the back door to the truck and began to strip some of his layers off. He didn't need to drive wearing such a heavy coat, gloves or toque, but almost regretted his decision when a gust of wind passed by. With his teeth chattering, Naruto neatly placed his extra clothes in the center seat so that someone would be able to sit in the back behind him. Slamming the door shut, he hopped into the driver's seat and breathed a loud sigh of relief upon feeling the heat blasting out of the vents. Someone opened the back door on the passenger side, but Naruto didn't pay attention to who since he was preoccupied with his phone.

There were multiple messages from both Gaara and Neji, asking different questions, like if they had left yet or if the paperwork for the client had been dropped off. Naruto sighed and immediately texted them back with the proper responses. Just as he was about to put his phone down, the blonde lead foreman paused upon seeing a text from his wife. A small smile spread across his lips when he saw the heart emojis and a picture of their three children sitting on the floor watching a movie.

The text read: Love you so much. Can't wait to see you tomorrow, Safe travels.

As he was about to respond to his wife and wish her the same, Naruto paused when the passenger side door opened, and Hina jumped into the seat. Their eyes met briefly, and he gave her a nod before placing his phone into the cupholder.

"Well, Mr. Uzumaki, we should be ready to go now." The young woman said brightly as she put on her seat belt.

Naruto froze and felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up. He whipped his head over his left shoulder and stared at the truck beside them. "Good to go? The rest of the guys didn't cram into one truck, did they?" He half hoped that the fourth-year apprentice was joking and that at any minute, one of the younger apprentices was going to jump scare him.

Hina shook her head and gave him a warm smile. "Nope, just me. Hayate said there is a hockey game on tonight, and once they have cell service, they all want to watch and listen in on it."

To say he was uncomfortable was a complete understatement. He tried not to show his uneasiness and instead rolled the window down and motioned for the other truck to come closer. While the exchange between himself and the other electricians was brief, Naruto could most definitely tell that something was going on. They were all acting way too casual that only Hina was in his vehicle and that not one of them wanted to sit in his truck where it would be more spacious for one more person. However, the day was growing late, and Naruto wanted to return as soon as possible.

"I'll drop all the documents off at the main office when we drive out. I'm sure we will catch up to you somewhere on the main highway." Shota shouted over the wind.

Naruto sighed and gave a nod before putting his window back up. After shifting the vehicle into drive, they began their long journey home.

Not even ten minutes into the drive, Naruto felt himself tense when Hina suddenly moved. However, it was a complete overreaction as she only turned up the radio and grabbed the charger for her phone. Then, she relaxed in her seat and began playing games on her mobile device.

Naruto released a mental sigh and then focused his eyes on the road ahead.

I shouldn't be this nervous driving with one of my female co-workers, even if we are alone in a vehicle. It's not like anything is going to happen! I'm just letting what Sasuke said get inside my head.

The day he and the six-man crew had left for the small site, Sasuke had pulled him aside, almost giving him an ominous warning about the only woman on his team.

"I know she may seem nice and sweet, but just be a little on the cautious side. She's come on to me a couple of times at the gym, and I know Konohamaru has also made the odd comment too. So just be careful is all I'm going to say."

After about ten minutes into the drive, his blue eyes darted over to the woman sitting next to him. Hina was still looking at her phone and didn't seem to notice him in the slightest. Naruto suddenly felt paranoid and once again focused on the road. He hadn't been sure what to make of his friend's warning, but he figured that perhaps Hina was just one of the many 'Sasuke Fan Girls they had on their site. Even though his best friend was happily married and had a six-year-old daughter, many women still tried to slip their way into the other Lead Foreman's radar, hoping he would give them a little attention or a night in his room.

Naruto mentally rolled his eyes as he remembered some of the desperate attempts those 'fan girls' had made over the years. Still, as his eyes darted back to Hina momentarily, he wondered if she was one of them.

Over the last two weeks, he had gotten to know the young woman quite well. If his memory was correct, she had started at Hyuuga Electric three years ago and had done most of their apprenticeship through their company. So while Hina was never on one of his crew before, he knew her anytime they crossed paths either at work or camp. But that was because EVERYONE knew the names of the women on their team since there was only a handful of them, and the rest of the guys wouldn't stop talking about it.

I can see why the guys talk about her, though. Hina is pretty with her long brown hair, green eyes and height that is taller than most women; however, she seems more of the quiet type. Not to mention she eerily reminds me of Hinata; she is hard-working and gets the job done without any complaints. I don't even think I heard her nit-pick about the weather until today after they took the generator away.

Deciding not to brood on the topic anymore, Naruto instead focused more on the road and listening to the radio.

The gravel roads they had taken into the small site were snow-covered and deep. He could tell that not many people had been travelling on it during the last couple of days. There were a couple of times he could feel the trailer behind him start to slightly slide off course, but after a few quick maneuvers that he had learned over the years, everything was back on track.

Naruto never felt so relieved when he saw the main highway that would take them back to Konoha Energy. While it was still a two-hour drive, he felt the weight lifted off his shoulders that at least they were on a paved road now.

For the first time during their travels, Hina finally spoke, "Well, I'm glad to see that the highway isn't as bad as that nightmare we just went through."

Naruto chuckled, "I thought my heart was going to stop there a couple of times when the trailer began to slide, but I'm glad we made it in one peace."

Thankfully the highway wasn't too busy, and he was able to turn on it easily, even though he was hauling a heavy load behind him.

Just as the truck was hitting the standard speed limit, Naruto noticed out of the corner of his eye that Hina was no longer sitting comfortably in the passenger seat beside him but more so leaning towards him with their arms almost touching on the centre console. While a chill did run up his wary spine, Naruto tried to brush it off and scolded himself for overthinking every little thing.

Or was he?

"Any plans for your days off?" Hina asked chipperly.

Naruto cleared his throat and kept his eyes straight ahead as best as he could. "Um, y-yeah. I've booked some time off with my family. I plan to take most of March off before they start those new pads on the south side of the plant."

The young woman hummed softly, "That sounds nice. How many kids do you have? I don't think I've asked you that this entire time we've been working together."

"Three. Boruto is six, Himawari just turned four, and Himiko will be two in the summer."

"Two girls and one boy. That's awesome. Do you plan on having any more?"

Naruto took a deep breath and answered the question. "N-No, we are done having children. As much as I wanted to have one more, there were complications with both Himawari and Himiko's birth. So my wife and I agreed that three was enough."

For a brief moment, the inside of the truck became silent, and Naruto hoped that his co-worker would lean away and not be so close to him.

I know damn well I am overreacting to nothing. She's just asking me about my family, that is all!

However, his thoughts were interrupted when he felt her arm touch his, and it almost made the electrician jump out of his seat; but he took a page out of Sasuke's book and remained still as a statue as if he hadn't noticed what she was doing.

"Well, it sounds like you have a very happy home life. Your wife must be very supportive of you and your career." Hina commented courteously.

"Y-yeah, she is."

"So when did you start with Hyuuga Electric?"

For the next two hours, Hina enquired about his career, which he was able to talk about extensively and tell her stories about when he was abroad. However, when she started asking him about his interests, more red flags started going off in his head.

In his entire thirty-five years of being on this earth, only two women had ever flirted with him; Naomi and his wife, Hinata. Naruto tried to ignore all the obvious signs that the young woman in the truck was clearly buttering him up by asking him personal questions and giving him a handful of compliments anytime he mentioned one of his accomplishments.

And while Naruto couldn't deny that he was a bit weirded out that Hina was obviously flirting with a married man that had a family . . . there was also a deep, darker part of him that somewhat enjoyed it.

Hinata was the only woman he had experienced most, if not all, of his firsts with. While Naomi did steal his first kiss and use her mouth on his manhood, after experiencing those same intimate gestures with his wife, there was no comparison. When thinking about the two back to back, one was only a hollow memory, while the other made all the blood in his body rush between his legs and make his toes curl.

But . . .

I shouldn't be enjoying this . . . I should be trying to shut our conversation down and re-iterate that I'm a married man, happily together with my loving wife and beautiful children. And yet . . . my heart flutters when she gives me a compliment . . . the look in her eyes right now . . . I'm not the most brightest man out there, but I know what her eyes are saying at this moment. Is it so wrong that I feel flattered by it?

It was one thing for him to puff his chest out when he knew Hinata found him attractive, but another woman? One that was at least ten years younger than him? So obviously trying to get close to him in hopes that they might possibly share a bed tonight? Was it so wrong for him to feel good about that?

Before Naruto could contemplate the thought any longer, the radio inside the cab cut out and was replaced by a loud ringing. His phone began to vibrate in the cup holder, and Gaara's number appeared on the digital screen.

Hina suddenly became quiet and shifted away from him towards her side of the truck as if somebody had unexpectedly walked in on them. Naruto bit his lip and hit the answer key on the steering wheel, "Hey Gaara, how's it going?"

The project manager sighed loudly, "Good Evening, Naruto. Well, things could be a lot better, but I'll get to that momentarily. First, whereabouts are you and your crew?"

Naruto quickly calculated in his head, "We are roughly about half an hour from the gravel road that will take us to Konoha Energy."

"Ah, good, I managed to catch you in time then. So there's been an issue with the camp rooms this evening. Somehow they double booked rooms, and at this moment, there aren't any available for you guys."

The blonde electrician felt his stomach drop, "Damn it, Gaara. Are you for real?"

His old friend sighed, "I wish I was joking. Unfortunately, we have a few smaller groups like yourself that were on minor job sites and are trying to make their way back here but can't. But I do have some good news. I booked everyone a room at the hotel by the Akatsuki bar. The only downside is that you will have to pay for your meals tonight, but remember to keep your receipts, and you will be reimbursed on your next paycheck."

Naruto sighed. While the news wasn't exactly the best, it wasn't terrible either, "Alright. I'll call Shota here and let him know to keep driving straight towards the hotel."

"And also, no rush in getting here tomorrow morning. It's been almost minus fifty first thing at 6am, which leaves not a lot for us to do when it's that cold. Plus, I know you guys have been working twelve hours days for two weeks straight. So take your time, have a nice hot breakfast, and don't even bother leaving there till the sun is at least about to rise."

"Heh, well, you sure have to bend my rubber arm with that offer." Chuckled Naruto.

"Well, I've got to make some other phone calls to a few of the other smaller crews, too; we had a transformer technician team east of us overhauling some transformers and another electrical team setting up temp power for another site an hour west. So I'll send you an email with the confirmation numbers, and I'll see you all tomorrow."

After Gaara hung up, Naruto instructed Hina to call Shota and tell him what was happening. They would be arriving at their normal turn soon, and he didn't want the rest of his crew to head back to Konoha Energy when there were no beds for them to sleep in.

His co-worker did as she was instructed but afterwards was quiet for the rest of the drive. Hina mostly kept her focus on the phone in her hands while the odd time glancing at him with an unsure look on her face.

Since she didn't seem to be asking him any more questions and had completely backed off from getting physically close to him, Naruto took this as a good sign. Perhaps she had been flirting a little bit but had gotten carried away during their conversation.

Or maybe her way of flirting was just her attempting to get on my good side from now on. There have been rumours of layoffs over the last month here at work since things have been so slow. So maybe she was warming me up so that I give her a good review so she won't get let go.

The awkwardness that Naruto had felt finally lifted. For the rest of the drive, he felt calm and relaxed when they pulled into the large parking lot that inhabited not only the Akatsuki bar and hotel but also a gas station and extended large parking areas for sleeper trucks. As per usual, the bar was already packed for the supper rush, but thankfully not too busy to the point that Naruto couldn't find a parking spot.

As soon as the truck was in park, Naruto let out a sigh and leaned back against his seat, "Man . . . I'm starving and could probably eat a whole pizza to myself." Then, he turned to Hina, who was just looking down at her clasped hands, "Why don't we head inside and get checked into our rooms?"

She didn't say anything, but Naruto didn't bother to dwell on it as he undid his seat belt and slipped out of the truck to retrieve his bag from the back.

Within a few minutes, the rest of the crew pulled up in their vehicle and parked beside them. Then, with everyone accounted for, they all walked in together to get assigned their own private rooms. It was only 7:30pm, but Naruto felt like it was almost past midnight. It had been exhausting working in the cold for two weeks, and if it wasn't for his growling stomach, he would have gladly just had a long hot shower before collapsing on his bed.

Once they all received their room keys, Naruto turned to his crew, "Alright, you guys, the rest of the evening is yours to do as you wish. Personally, I'm going to have a hot shower and then head over to the bar for a cold one and a whole pizza. We don't have to be back at Konoha Energy till about 10am, so I don't mind if you want to get a little tipsy tonight, but just don't be irresponsible to the point that you can't work at all tomorrow. I know it's our home day and everything, but try and keep your heads level. I'll see you guys later."

Some of them headed towards the elevators, while others continued down the hallway to their rooms located on the first floor, which is where Naruto was headed. He was eager to head down to the Akatsuki Bar for a hot meal, so he quickened his pace to reach his room in the middle of the hallway. However, just as he was pulling out his room card to unlock the door, a gentle hand on his shoulder suddenly caught his attention.

Hina was suddenly standing beside him; her cheeks were red, and she had an unreadable expression on her face.

Naruto froze, his blue eyes scanning down the hallway to see if any of their co-workers were watching them, but thankfully, they were the only ones in the hallway. She spoke so softly that Naruto almost missed when she said, "I really enjoyed our conversation in the truck. If you . . . if you want to continue later on tonight, please let me know."

Her hand released his shoulder, and Hina continued walking towards her room near the end of the hallway.

Naruto swallowed the lump in his throat, and his hands fumbled with his room key before he pushed the door open and walked in. As the door closed behind him, he released the breath he was holding and leaned back against the wall beside him before closing his eyes.

He was always the first to admit that he was a complete idiot regarding women. For years he was ignorant for not noticing how nice Hinata was to him while they were in school, to also the subtle hints his wife would give him the odd time, even though they had been married for over seven years. However, what transpired in the hallway was so apparent that Naruto could have been completely blind and still known what was happening.

The blonde electrician let out a shaky breath and closed his eyes while running his hands down his face.

I need to have a shower and then head down for some supper. So just ignore what Hina said there and continue on with your evening . . .

Stepping inside the small bathroom, Naruto turned the shower on and then he began to go through his phone quickly to see if there were any messages he needed to deal with first. There were a few from Gaara, a couple from Sasuke, and even some from his wife. He smiled while reading Hinata's kind words: Great job today, my love. Neji said he was pleased with the work you guys did. I'm just on my way back home to the kids.

A soft frown formed on Naruto's lips, and his fingers swiped across the screen to bring up pictures of his family, the smiling faces of his children and wife. Immediately his inner thoughts criticized him for even thinking about sleeping with another woman. Not that he had seriously considered it, but it had been more of a passing thought.

But . . . with this woman now being only down the hallway and showing serious interest in him, Naruto couldn't help but wonder what would happen if he said yes.

Only a few people would know . . . and even then, they would never say anything about it. What happens up north stays up north. I've heard of so many guys just letting into their desires and having a one-night stand with a co-worker, and usually, they say it's incredible with no regrets. But is that what I want? Is this truly something I need?

Naruto had only ever slept with his wife, and she was the only one with whom he had ever been intimate with.

And while he loved her beyond a shadow of a doubt, there was always a tiny part of him that wondered what it would be like to sleep with someone else. So while it was a curious notion that he thought of once in a blue moon, now that the opportunity was practically staring at him in the face, was it so wrong to perhaps consider it?

As Naruto started to undress, he continued battling with his inner demons on the issue. While there were certainly a few perks to giving in to the temptation, they were outweighed heavily by the negatives. While the chances of Hinata finding out were slim, especially if there was no evidence, if she did discover his little secret, it would be the end of their happy family and marriage.

Is that worth the cost? Is one night with another woman worth losing everything I have? Everything I have worked so hard to build?

Just as he was about to step inside the shower, his phone vibrated one more time with a new message. Naruto glanced down at the text and read the words: Do you want me to come over?

A chill ran down his spine, and Naruto gripped the phone tightly in his hand. He briefly looked away from the electronic device and started to pace the length of his room. A rush of excitement suddenly swept over him, along with a roller coaster of emotions. And while he was hesitant at first but slowly typed out: Yes please do.

Setting the phone down on the bathroom counter, Naruto stepped inside the shower and began to mentally prepare himself for the guest that would be joining him in his room soon.

00000000000

A roar of cheers and clapping erupted throughout the Akatsuki Bar when the home province team scored on the large television. It was so deafening that Shota had to cover his ears and close his eyes. During their two weeks out in the cold, he was pretty sure he had somehow caught a cold, which was why his head was aching and his body felt a little sluggish. The other apprentices at the table only laughed at him and pushed the pizza plate closer to him so he could grab another slice.

Five of them sat around the medium-sized table with pizza, beer and appetizers spread across. However, it was the absence of two people that made Shota a little uneasy. His dark brown eyes scanned the bar one more time to see if Naruto and Hina had arrived or had accidentally sat at a different table because they didn't see their group. However, there was no sign of them. The young journeyman sighed softly and quickly glanced at his phone. He had messaged Naruto and Hina to let them know where they were sitting and asked if they wanted anything ordered, but there was no response.

While the other apprentices were excitedly drinking their beer and talking about what they had planned once they got home, Shota silently gave them each a stern glare from across the table.

The moment they had left the small site, he immediately knew something was up when all five of them had crammed into the truck he was driving. It had undoubtedly been weird, especially since Makoto, Ryota and Junichi had squished into the back while Hayate sat comfortably in the front. He had eyed the apprentices suspiciously, but they only said they wanted to sit together to watch the highlights of last night's game and catch the beginning of tonight's match.

Shota had let it go at the time, but something just didn't sit right with him as the drive continued. Before they had left, his boss had looked incredibly uncomfortable with only having Hina in the vehicle with him, but he had brushed it off at the time. However, now that the two of them were missing, he was pretty sure that something was going on.

"Alright, you lot. You four need to start talking. I want to know the real reason why all of you hopped in the vehicle with me and left Hina to drive alone with our boss." Shota said in a low, demanding tone.

All four male apprentices froze.

Each of them was silent while nervously glancing at one another. It was a sure tell-tale sign that something was wrong, but before Shota could ask again, Hayate finally spoke up, "It's just . . . Hina just asked if we could let her have some alone time with Naruto."

Shot's eyebrow arched in disbelief, turning to the fourth-year apprentice, "Really? So she asked you guys to ride with me so she could be alone with Naruto? Does that sound ethical to you? Leaving a married man alone in a vehicle with a single woman? I would like to think she just wanted to maybe talk to him about her career choices since she'll be getting her ticket soon, but I seriously doubt that's what she wanted."

The guys immediately looked guilty, and they all took a swig of their beer.

A sigh left the young journeyman's lips, and he suddenly had a bad feeling that something terrible was going on. Or at least, that's what it looked like at the moment.

Hoping he wasn't too late, Shota pulled out his phone and immediately dialled Naruto's number, which they all had exchanged just before the start of the job. However, his heart sank upon hearing the continuous rings before a voice asked if he wanted to leave a voicemail.

"Look, Shota, I'm sure the two of them are just late getting here. We know that Naruto's a good guy and would never cheat on his wife. But I mean . . . if he does slip up once, then, well . . ." Hayate didn't finish his sentence.

"What happens up north, stays up north." Ryota finished. "We can't hate on a guy for something that's just going to happen for one night, right? It's been twenty-one days since he was last home and got laid. Or heck, maybe it's been longer than that because his wife doesn't fuck him anymore. Who knows? We're all adult men here and can be mature about this."

Shota slowly turned and gave the first-year apprentice a stern glare, "Coming from the guy who spent almost two hours trying to catch the 'volt drops' underneath the cable trays with a bucket while wearing Arc Flash Gear? If I'm going to get advice from anybody, it certainly isn't going to be from someone as gullible as you!"

Ryota flinched, but before the apprentice could say anything more, the door opening to the bar caught Shota's attention, and he immediately looked to see if Naruto or Hina had finally arrived. However, while it wasn't who he was expecting, three people in black safety coats with 'Hyuuga Power' printed on the front entered inside. Shota immediately recognized the three Transformer Techs and waved them over, "Hey! Reiji, Fai, Akari! Over here!"

The three technicians spotted them and waved back, slowly making their way through the crowd towards them. A chair was stolen from a different table, and they shuffled their seats to make room for their three frozen co-workers.

"Well, fancy seeing you guys here!" said the young woman, sitting beside Shota while the other two techs sat down next to Hayate. "Were you guys also freezing outside for the last week?"

Shota nodded and tried to wave down their waitress so their three new friends could order food and drinks, "It was terrible, but we got the job done. And for us, it was two weeks actually."

Akari smiled sympathetically, "That sucks. So it was just the five of you on this small job?"

Shota shook his head, "Actually, we are missing two people. But I'm sure they just don't want to leave their warm rooms after having a hot shower. They should be here soon, though." He took a drink of his beer and hoped that Akari didn't ask who exactly was missing from their crew right now. "What about you guys? Usually, you techs travel in even numbers."

The blond technician, Fai, let out a small laugh, "Us techs, huh? Actually, our boss is still in her hotel room too. She was exhausted and didn't know if she would be able to join us. Originally we weren't going to stop here and just keep driving home, but she wanted to stop and spend the night for some reason. Which I'm not going to complain about after a long day."

Their waitress finally made it over to their table and started to take the technician's orders, but just as she was writing down the food they wanted, the door once again opened to the bar. Everyone at their table glanced over, and Shota had to bite his tongue to stop the relieved sigh from leaving his lips upon seeing Hina walking over towards their table. She was freshly showered, but he could also tell that her mood was more on the dejected side, even though she was smiling at them.

Oh thank Christ . . . I was starting to think she was in Naruto's room, but it looks like I was overreacting to nothing.

Hina sat down on the other side of Shota and ordered a drink and meal for herself before the waitress disappeared again.

While most of their group was back to focusing on the hockey game, Shota leaned over and asked Hina, "Did you see the boss at all?"

Hina released a dramatic sigh and shook her head, "No. But I did try and knock on his door since his room was on the way out, but it sounded like he was . . . preoccupied."

The journeyman's eyebrow arched in confusion, "Oh, is that so? Well then, uh, Hina, do you know Fai, Akari and Reiji? They just arrived as well."

As the evening continued, most of their attention was focused on the hockey game while they drank their liquor and munched on their pizza and appetizers. The conversations between the transformer technicians and electricians were brief as most of their attention was on the big screen. And while Shota was trying to just pay attention to the hockey players, he couldn't help but keep thinking back to what Hina had told him.

If she's not in his room, does that mean that someone else is? Or is she just upset that he declined her advances? Or was he just utterly oblivious to her trying to flirt with him? I know he's not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to that . . .

Shota had been working for Hyuuga Electric for almost his entire electrical career, and while he found the company great, the people he worked with made it the most enjoyable. While there were a few lead hands and Foreman's that cracked the whip the odd time, most of the leaders within Hyuuga Electric were terrific, knowledgeable and patient.

Naruto had been the first Foreman he had worked under. And while the older blonde-haired electrician almost seemed like a goofball at times, his boss was actually very wise and was always willing to help, even if it was after hours. He had a deep respect for the man, so hearing that his co-workers had tried to sabotage him by letting Hina have alone time rubbed Shota the wrong way. While she wasn't exactly a huge flirt on site and mainly had focused her attention on the Lead Foreman Sasuke, it still bothered him that she would jump over to someone else so quickly. His eyes fell on the young woman who was staring solemnly at the TV screen.

I have no respect for a woman that tries to sleep with someone else when they are clearly married with a family. She's not only wanted to do that with Sasuke, but Naruto now? I hope she figures out pretty quickly that trying to pull stunts like that will bite her in the ass one day.

Finally, the game was over, and the Hyuuga Electric and Hyuuga Power family gave big yawns and stretched their arms above their heads.

"Well, that was an exciting game. For a moment there, I thought we were going to lose when the other team got those two goals in the third." Sighed Reiji before downing the remainder of his beer.

Shota turned to Akari, "So you guys aren't heading to Konoha Energy tomorrow, right? You're driving back to head office?"

The transformer technician nodded and tried to stifle a yawn, "Yeah. We don't have to leave too terribly early, but our boss wants to be back as soon as humanly possible."

Before Shota could respond, Akari's phone suddenly started ringing, and she answered it in a hushed tone so that no one else could hear the conversation. Instead, he turned to the other electricians, "We should start heading back to our rooms. We don't want to stay here too long and get completely wasted."

While most of the guys looked disappointed, Hina almost looked relieved and even started trying to wave the waitress over again. Since the bar wasn't as packed as before, their server came over immediately and asked if they would like anything else before preparing their bills.

Just as she was about to leave, Akari hung up her phone and asked, "Oh, wait a second! Is the kitchen still open? I just got a request for a deluxe and meat lover's pizza to go, if that is alright?"

"Hmmm, technically speaking, I'm only supposed to take appetizers after nine, but I'm sure a couple of pizzas isn't going to hurt. I'll talk to the chef right now." The brunette server responded before leaving their table.

Fai turned to Akari, "A few pizzas to go? Who was on the phone there? Was it Hinata?"

Shota froze.

"Yeah, she said she just didn't want to leave the hotel, so Hinata asked me to bring it over and that she'll meet me in the hallway."

The young journeyman's eyes widened, and the reason for his boss's disappearance suddenly made complete sense. A smile spread across his lips, "Wait a minute. So your boss for the job was Hinata? Hinata Uzumaki?"

Out of the corner of his eye, he suddenly saw Hina stiffen, but no one at the table seemed to notice. Especially Akari and the other technicians who had big smiles on their faces.

"The one and only." Grinned Fai, "It's very rare that she comes out of Head Office to work in the field nowadays. So when we heard she was the one leading the team, we all jumped on it instantly. She knows so much about being out in the field, and it was fantastic working under her the last week here. It's a shame she's only part-time now and mostly works from home. But she's got three kids, right? So it's understandable, especially since the youngest, I think, is only two and a half?"

While the three transformer techs were oblivious to it, a sense of guilt could be seen on five of the electrician's faces, Hina being the worst with how pale her complexion was. Shota couldn't help but smirk inwardly, and said, "Well, I think I can answer why your boss hasn't left the hotel. I think she's been getting reacquainted with our superior, Naruto Uzumaki."

All three of the technician's eyes widened momentarily before they all burst out laughing.

"Oh, that explains it now! You should have told us that sooner! No wonder we detoured here instead of going home. I'm pretty sure she hasn't seen her husband for almost three weeks!" snickered Akari.

Reiji nodded, "I know she said she was eager to head home and see her kids, but a night alone with your husband at a hotel? Who the fuck would say no to that!?"

Shota glanced at Hina, who looked highly embarrassed. There was so much he wanted to say to the young woman but decided against it for the moment. From what he could tell, it was clear that she had been very unaware of who exactly Naruto was married to.

It's one thing for her to flirt with Sasuke; his wife Sakura is a stay-at-home mom right now and hasn't been in the field in almost seven years. But I don't think this girl realized that Naruto's wife is not only a transformer technician but one of the higher-ups within Hyuuga Power and Hyuuga Electric. So I'm going to assume that all her flirting with Naruto was only vocal because if there is any text evidence of it, she might be in deep shit with Human Resources if Naruto decided to report her.

Their server finally returned with a boxed pizza and almost a dozen slips of paper with each of their tabs. As the debit/credit machine was being passed around, Shota took the opportunity and leaned over and whispered softly to Hina, "Maybe in the future, you should go after men who are single? And not someone whose wife's Uncle owns the company you work for."

The young woman completely stiffened next to him, but Shota didn't wait to see if she would respond to his comment. Instead, he stood up and stretched once more before releasing a relaxed sigh.

While this evening was a little stressful, I can't wait to return to my warm room and fall asleep in my toasty, comfy bed.

0000000000

A chill ran up Hinata's spine as she jogged across the parking lot. She was trying to be mindful of the food and drinks in the small plastic bag that she had bought at the gas station but also wanted to return to the hotel lobby as fast as possible.

Hinata had been working in the freezing cold all week with three of her co-workers and didn't want to spend another minute outside unless it was absolutely necessary. However, after calling Akari and asking for her to order a pizza, Naruto suddenly had an appetite for half a dozen things that were either covered in chocolate or fizzy drinks with way too much sugar. She was usually very strict with her husband about some of his diet choices. However, tonight she figured it was an occasion where they didn't need to worry if something had too many carbs or sugar in it.

As she stepped inside the warm lobby, Hinata let out a sigh of relief and stood near the vents for a few seconds longer while letting the hot air warm up her body.

I should have at least grabbed a jacket before I left Naruto's room, but I didn't want to make Akari wait with our pizza.

Her pale eyes fell onto the Akatsuki bar, which was across the parking lot from the gas station. While it wasn't as busy as when she and her crew had first arrived, there were still quite a few vehicles parked outside. It had been over ten years since she last stepped foot inside that place, and while she did have a few nostalgic memories of the place from her apprenticeship years, she did not have a desire to check it out tonight.

As she waited for her co-worker, Hinata reached inside her pocket and pulled out her phone. While she had initially grabbed it to see what time it was, Hinata noticed a text message from her mother-in-law. Upon opening up the message, her heart clenched a little at the sight of her three children sleeping peacefully on the couch; all of them were dressed in fuzzy pyjamas and had dozed off while watching a show before bed.

Hinata let out a sad sigh and quickly punched in Kushina's number. The phone only rang a few times before the cheerful voice of her mother-in-law graced her ears.

"Hello Hinata dear, how are you this evening?"

She tried not to sigh, "Oh good. Just waiting for some food right now. I was just calling to make sure everything went well with the kids this evening."

"Everything went perfectly. Although all three of them fell asleep while watching Bluey, I got them all to bed without any issues. They've been really good all week, actually."

Hinata smiled, "I'm glad to hear that. Thank you again for watching them, I know this was a last-minute job for me, but both Naruto and I appreciate it."

"Oh, don't worry about that, my dear. I'm always happy to help! Just don't be in such a rush to get home tomorrow; we will be here all safe and warm when you arrive."

"I know. I just feel a little bad that I stopped at the hotel to see Naruto. I would have been halfway home by now if we didn't."

"Oh pish posh. I know you haven't seen my son in over three weeks, and the two of you could use a relaxing evening where you're not worried about kids or work. Just enjoy this evening with him. Besides, you could also use this opportunity to give me another grandchild."

A blush spread across Hinata's cheeks, "K-kushina! You know we can't!"

Her mother-in-law laughed wholeheartedly, "I know, I know. I just would have loved one more grandchild. Boruto is the spitting image of his father, Himawari is like a miniature you, and Himiko looks exactly like me with her fiery hair. It would have been nice if the fourth could resemble Minato."

"I-I know, but that's . . ."

"I'm just teasing you my dear. You've already made me feel like the luckiest grandma with these three beautiful children. They will be here when you come back tomorrow."

"Thanks, Kushina. You have a good night."

"You as well, my dear. And tell my son I said hi as well."

Hinata placed her phone back in her pocket and then went back to trying to see if Akari was on her way over yet.

It had been tough enough with Naruto being gone for so long, but when her sister had asked if she could lead a small team of technicians for a turnaround, Hinata couldn't deny that she had been extremely hesitant.

"Please, Hinata!? Pretty, please?! It's only for a week, and I need someone with lots of experience to lead it. Everyone else is off on holidays, and I just don't trust some of the younger technicians to do it by themselves. I know it's been a while since you've been out in the field, but could you just do me this one favour? I'm sure Naruto's mom can watch the kids for a week while you're gone! It will be like a mini holiday for you!"

In fact, everyone she had talked to about it had said the exact same thing. That she would enjoy her time away from her kids and would probably dread going back after only a week.

However, it had been the exact opposite.

While the drive to the site had been pleasant, even the conversations she had with the younger technicians was a nice change; the moment Hinata realized she wouldn't be tucking her children into bed was when it hit her the hardest. Yes, she did enjoy having the odd small break from her little ones. However, it felt gut-wrenching that she wouldn't be there for them when it was time to put them to bed and read them a story. Upon recognizing that she wouldn't feel their little arms around her neck or hear their voices wish her a good night, Hinata had spent almost half an hour crying herself to sleep.

Being a mother was tough, but leaving behind her children for more than one night was proving to be the hardest thing she had ever done. She sometimes wondered how Naruto could still leave her and their children behind after all these years, but she figured he only endured it because it was part of his job.

Hinata sighed, and part of her wished that she had been more insistent with her team and convinced them that they needed to keep driving back home. However, the sad texts she had received from her husband during the course of her day changed her mind. Not seeing the man she loved for over three weeks and the temptations of being alone with him at a hotel, with no children or interruptions, seemed too good of an opportunity to pass up.

Just as their truck was less than half an hour from passing by the Akatsuki bar and hotel, she had asked if he wanted her to come over and see him. The speed in which he responded told her that he was anxious to see her and if Hinata was being completely honest, she had been eager to see him too.

The moment he had opened the door and Hinata had stepped inside his hotel room, she could tell that something was off about her husband. His usual, happy demeanour was now distant, guilt-ridden and sombre. At first, she had chalked it up to him just missing their family and being worn out from working over three weeks. Instead, he had immediately embraced her tightly, breathed in her scent and then slowly shuffled to the bed, where he sat down and pulled her into his lap. Hinata wasn't sure how long they had stayed like that, with her straddling his hips, his arms wrapped around her upper body and her fingers lightly combing through his short, blonde hair.

Then, after what felt like almost half an hour, Naruto softly started talking to her. He went on about how much he missed her and the kids, had a rough shift in the cold with his apprentices and one journeyman, and how he couldn't wait to have days off with his family.

There's no doubt that he missed us terribly. But something else is bothering him. We've not only been married a while, but I know when something is troubling my darling.

While contemplating what could be worrying Naruto, the motion of people walking toward the hotel caught Hinata's attention. Her eyes softened upon seeing her three co-workers approaching the hotel lobby's glass doors. They were also accompanied by another five electricians, their blue coats embroidered with 'Hyuuga Electric' being a dead giveaway.

"Good evening, boss! We got your pizza and also found some electricians too!" Akari said cheerfully before handing her the two white cardboard boxes that contained her and Naruto's late supper.

"Thank you so much, Akari. Did you guys have a good time watching the game?"

While her transformer techs briefly told her about their fun hour at the bar, one of the electricians silently approached her and waited until Hinata was done talking to Fai before he extended his hand to her.

"Mrs. Uzumaki, my name is Shota. It's a pleasure to meet you. Our boss spoke of you lots during the two weeks we were with him. We were a little disappointed he didn't join us for drinks, but we understand why he was so preoccupied."

Hinata's previous blush came back with a vengeance, and she realized what her and Naruto's co-workers had presumably thought the two of them were doing this whole time they were alone. Although Naruto had let out a few groans when she had been massaging his head, the couple had been acting completely innocent towards each other. However, she wasn't about to admit or deny to anyone here what she and her husband had been doing behind closed doors.

She tried to clear her throat while glancing nervously at her transformer techs, "I-I do apologize. I hadn't seen my husband for a while and was restless to see him again."

Reiji smiled at her, "No worries, boss. We understand completely. Well, I don't know about you lot, but I'm beat and would love to get acquainted with my bed. I'll see you guys tomorrow, "He nodded over to Fai, Akari and Hinata before turning to the electricians, "And you guys have a safe flight home tomorrow. I'm sure our paths will cross again."

Everyone wished each other goodnight before going their separate ways. Most of them headed towards the elevators to the second floor, but as Hinata made her way towards the main hallway of rooms, out of the corner of her eye, she spotted one of the electricians following her, the only female one.

Hinata tried to give her at least a soft smile. However, the other woman either wasn't paying attention or outright ignored her kind gesture. Figuring she was just tired and cold from a long shift, Hinata didn't take her actions to heart and continued on down the hallway to her husband's room.

When she stopped in front of the door, Hinata pulled out the room card and attempted one more time to be nice to the young electrician.

"Have a good night." She said softly.

However, the female electrician still didn't pay her any mind and continued walking toward her own room.

Hinata couldn't deny that she was confused by the cold attitude from the young woman but chose not to dwell on it as she opened the door to Naruto's room.

"Oh lord, that smells good! I am so hungry! We should have ordered three pizzas!" Naruto excitedly said as she walked inside with their pizza and snacks.

Hinata smiled at her husband, "I know you're starving, but try not to eat everything so fast, or you will give yourself a tummy ache."

The pizzas were laid out on the dresser, along with their drinks and snacks. Over the next half hour, they talked to each other about the jobs they were on, the people they worked with and also silently watching the news on TV and catching up with whatever current events were happening in their area.

As Hinata was almost halfway through her deluxe pizza, she took a mental note of the way Naruto tensed slightly when mentioning his one co-worker, Hina. While her name was eerily close to Hinata's, the way Naruto suddenly refused to look her in the eye and kept his gaze downcast, which told her that something was amiss.

There's that guilty expression again . . . and then there's the cold attitude I got from that female electrician in the hallway . . . something is definitely going on . . .

Taking a sip of her ginger ale, Hinata cleared her throat before asking, "So, did something happen between you and this Hina?"

Naruto immediately started choking on his pizza and gasping for air, his one hand grasping at his throat while the other began banging on his chest. Hinata knew she had hit the nail right on the head, but didn't question him anymore for the time being while he attempted to catch his breath.

"H-h *cough* how did you know?!" her husband choked out before downing almost an entire bottle of water.

Hinata rubbed his back and gave him a soft, knowing look, "I think you know the answer to that."

Naruto chuckled and placed the empty water bottle down beside him, "Yeah. Yeah, I know. I shouldn't be surprised that you can tell. Heck, I think I would be more surprised if you didn't notice." Her husband moved closer to her and grasped her hand firmly in his, "I take it you saw her in the hallway?"

"Yes. She was walking back with my transformer techs. While I don't expect everyone to be cheerful towards me, her cold attitude was definitely noticeable."

Naruto sighed and rubbed the back of his head, "Hinata . . . can you be completely honest with me? Have you . . . have you ever thought about what it would be like to have sex with someone else? Someone besides me?"

Pale eyes widened.

Whatever she was expecting Naruto to ask her, this was certainly unexpected. While the question was heavily loaded and obviously it was something that her husband had considered, she, on the other hand, only had eyes for him. "No, no I have not."

He flinched at her softly spoken answer and turned his gaze away from hers, but his hand only tightened its grip on her smaller one. "O-oh . . ."

Hinata tilted her head, "Have you? Are you . . . getting bored of our intimate relationship?"

Naruto immediately shook his head and finally looked at her with desperation in his eyes, "No! No, of course not! It's just that . . . well . . . just before you arrived here, I did briefly think about it. Hina was flirting with me pretty hard and even o-offered to visit my room. I've never had anyone flirt with me like that before . . . and it just . . . I just couldn't stop thinking about it. Of course, I know that it's wrong, and I would never actually cheat on you! But I just couldn't help but wonder, you know?"

Truthfully she didn't.

Ever since their first year at school, she had only had her sights set on a particular blonde-haired electrician. He was the only one she ever thought of intimately.

But, that didn't mean that she couldn't think of the situation logically and understand where her husband was coming from.

"Well, I've never thought about having sex with any other man. However, I have had the odd gentleman flirt with me, especially at the occasional social gathering that I attend with Hanabi and Neji." Hinata admitted.

Naruto's eyes widened, "Seriously? So people still flirt with you? Even though you're married?"

Hinata laughed softly, "Yes, it does happen from time to time."

Her husband now had a grumpy look on his face, "You never told me that! Heck, Neji or Hanabi never mentioned it either!"

"Well, that's because it doesn't happen that often, sweetheart. But, when it does, I do kind of understand where you're coming from. It can feel good when someone aside from your spouse finds you attractive. Right?"

Naruto frowned and nodded his head. "Yeah. I didn't want to admit it, but it did feel nice that someone aside from you wanted to . . . you know . . ."

Hinata placed her ginger ale down and once again climbed onto her husband's lap, her arms snaking around his shoulders. "Do you sometimes miss the past? Drinking with your co-workers every home day? Or maybe thinking you should have tried sleeping with a few other girls before me?"

She had always treasured that Naruto was her first and only lover. It made their relationship feel special, but Hinata also understood if Naruto was having a few regrets, especially if he was getting caught up talking to his younger co-workers.

Naruto's arms flung around her upper body, and he squeezed her tightly, "No! Of course not, Hinata! I already got my wild drinking escapades out of my system years ago, and I could never regret you being my only lover. I trust you completely. We've been through so much together, highs and lows, that I don't want anyone else. Besides, I know that if something is wrong with our sex life, you and I will discuss it and work through it together. Just like we always have."

Hinata smiled fondly at her husband and kissed the top of his head. "I love you."

"I love you too, Hinata. I'm sorry. I just wanted to be honest with you and vocalize what I was thinking. I don't want to have a one-night stand or think of any other woman than you. Can you forgive me?" Naruto asked with a soft plea in his voice.

She smiled while saying, "I suppose I could. I'll forgive you right on the spot if you promise to pick me up some cinnamon rolls tomorrow before you come home to the kids and me."

Naruto smirked, "I'm sure I can manage that."

A comfortable silence fell over the couple. Her fingers started playing with his hair while his were lightly tracing up and down her back.

"So . . . who's been flirting with you at these social gatherings?" Naruto inquired finally.

Hinata sighed and rolled her eyes, "Does it matter?"

Naruto frowned, "Well, yeah, kind of. I told you who was flirting with me, so why don't you tell me who's been chatting you up?"

At first, she didn't want to tell him, but the sad puppy dog eyes he was giving her made her resolve waver. When his bottom lip started to tremble, she finally said, "Alright, alright. The odd time Asashi still tries to talk to me alone sometimes. He's only done it on the odd occasion, but he just can't seem to take a hint that I'm happily married and not looking to divorce my husband any time soon."

Naruto's eyes widened, "Seriously?! So he's still at it? I thought he quit after that night at the Central Park Zoo?!"

"He did stop for a while, but over the last few years, he has tried to wiggle his way in again. It's to the point where I don't even know what to do anymore. So I just talk to him about a few business topics and then make my rounds to talk to more people. But honestly, you have nothing to worry about."

Naruto gave out a small huff and then pouted like their son Boruto would do when he couldn't have his way.

Hinata kissed the top of his head again and slowly started petting his hair. His sulking did not last long, and soon he was sighing contently and resting his ear against her chest again. She took deep breaths in hopes that the sound of her steady heartbeat would relax him while her fingers gently massaged his scalp.

While her hands moved across his head, she paused momentarily at the sight of a single grey hair amongst her husband's short blonde locks. She stared at it for a moment before continuing to gently touch her husband's scalp. However, Naruto took notice . . .

"Did you find a grey hair?" he asked softly.

Hinata froze and tried to brush his question aside. "I hadn't noticed."

He softly scoffed at her, "Heh, you don't have to lie to me about it. I'm already feeling self-conscious about the odd grey one I get when I don't shave. Only thirty-five, and I'm already getting grey hairs."

Perhaps other wives would have tried to lift their husband's spirits by proclaiming how young they were and that she hadn't noticed in the first place. However, Hinata couldn't lie to Naruto and instead voiced what was on her mind, "We are getting older, and nothing stays young forever. I mean, you and I have changed quite a bit over the last few years."

Naruto turned his head so that he could properly look at her. His hand reached up to gently cup her cheek at first but then moved slowly to touch her indigo locks; no longer was her hair long, but cut at a short length that didn't even reach her shoulders.

"That's true. I still miss your long hair some days, if I'm being completely honest." Naruto whispered softly as his hands ran through her hair.

Hinata hummed and leaned into his touch, "I know. Maybe when the children are older, and I have more time to maintain it, I will grow it long again."

Naruto shook his head, "Nah. Don't do that. The short haircut looks good on you; more mature and sexy, in my opinion. As you said, we are getting older, and changes are bound to happen. I sometimes miss my long blonde hair, but I think this cut suits me right now."

She smiled down at her husband and kissed the top of his head again. Then, just as Hinata was about to crawl off his lap, his muscular arms kept her in place. Confused pale violet eyes met determined blue ones. Her husband was grinning from ear to ear, and he kissed her before she could ask him what he was planning.

The moment their lips touched, she melted like butter in his embrace. After not having any intimate contact with him for so long, the moment his tongue slipped into her mouth, Hinata released a deep moan from the back of her throat. In a matter of seconds, she felt incredibly hot and wanted nothing more than for Naruto to become one with her right then and there.

Naruto's hands grasped her hips, and he rolled them onto the bed so that he was hovering above his wife. Her legs instinctively wrapped around his hips, and her body trembled when she felt his hard manhood pressing against her inner thigh through his sweat pants. He grinned down at her, "I don't have to be at Konoha Energy until 10am tomorrow . . . and I'm sure you can sweet talk your father that you don't need to be back early either. So why don't we just enjoy this night to ourselves?"

Words were hard to form, so instead, Hinata only nodded and pulled her husband down for another passionate kiss.

The End

Author's Note: I hope you all enjoyed this small side story. I've had this plot swirling around in my head for over a month and finally decided to sit down and write it to see where it goes. Two days and over thirty pages later, I got it out of my system.

It's based on something that I similarly experienced back in my days of working in the oilfield. I was halfway through a twenty-eight-day shift, and my husband had been driving nearby after attending a family event. We met up at a nearby hotel since we hadn't seen each other in almost two weeks, and a few guys on my crew saw us. They immediately assumed I was cheating and sleeping with someone on site, but when we went to the local restaurant for some food, I introduced him, and we even showed them our matching wedding rings.

Not sure if I will write another side story anytime soon. I have another two in my head that I might eventually type out, but until I have the time to, farewell for now.
