The wedding reception was being held at the town square, and it was just as beautiful as the ceremony. The same kind of full moon and north star banners and decorations covered the chairs and tables, complete with candles and fancy looking silverware. As for food, well, no one was going to go hungry that night, that's for sure. There was a wide assortment of Human and Demon Realm foods available, complete with deserts that were personally made by Harvey and Gilbert.
The wedding cake however was the most eye-catching. It was a vanilla cake about four feet tall, with strawberry filling and purple frosting. It also had frosting flowers along its edges, and figures of Luz and Amity on the top. King had really outdone himself, and the newlyweds made sure to thank him as well as Camila, Eda, Hooty, and Anna for all their hard work.
As much as Luz and Amity wanted to eat however, food was going to have to wait. Right now, it was time for them to have their first dance together as a human and witch wives, and it was something they were very much looking forward to.
"May I have this dance, Mrs. Noceda?" Luz said as she held out her hand to her new wife.
Amity smiled and happily took it. "I'd be honored, Mrs. Noceda."
The couple then moved over to the dance floor, everyone either watching on or recording the special moment, but this first dance was not going to be like those of most married couples. Luz and Amity had something much different in mind, but it was something very special to them.
With Raine's help, the newlyweds had written an entire song dedicated to their love and how it helped them conquer all the hardships they had faced the last several months. It could not have been more perfect for them, and they were excited to be able to share it with all their friends and family.
Once they had taken their place on the dance floor, Luz turned to Hooty, who was the DJ. "Alright pal, hit it!"
The house demon smiled and nodded. "You got it! Hoot!"
He then began playing an elegant and beautiful piece of music. The newlyweds then looked into each other's eyes before they began to sing and dance together.
Verse 1
(Luz) There were nights I stood alone, my shadow whispered fear,
The wolf inside was howling loud, I thought you wouldn't hear.
My strength was fading slowly, the curse pulling me apart,
But then you stood beside me, your love stitched up my heart.
Verse 2
(Amity) I watched you bear the burden, fighting battles in your mind,
Each tear you hid, a message, love, I'd never leave behind.
They saw a beast in shadow, but I saw the moonlit sky,
You're my light, my sweet Batata, and together, we can fly.
(Together) Through shadows to the morning, through storms that shook our bones,
We built a home in chaos, where love has always grown.
No curse, no fear, no danger, will ever tear us apart,
The future's ours to treasure, two souls, one beating heart.
Verse 3 (Reflecting together)
(Luz) Remember when I fell apart?
(Amity) I caught you in my arms, And when the dark closed in on me,
(Luz) I chased away its harms. We've both been broken pieces, scattered glass upon the ground,
(Together) But love's the glue that mends us; together, we are found.
Bridge (Hope builds)
(Luz) The moon once whispered sorrow, but now it sings us peace,
(Amity) The shadows taught us courage, the light will never cease.
(Together) A future carved in starlight, a vow that can't be torn,
We've braved the wildest waters, now love is our new dawn.
(Together, brighter and stronger) Through shadows to the morning, through storms that shook our bones,
We built a home in chaos, where love has always grown.
No curse, no fear, no danger, will ever tear us apart,
The future's ours to treasure, two souls, one beating heart.
Outro (Echoing promise)
(Together) Through shadows… through shadows…
We'll rise, we'll rise…
Together… forever…
When the song was over, the couple embraced in a passionate kiss, while the audience gave a huge round of applause.
"Oh my." Camila choked as she futilely tried to whip her tears. "That was the most beautiful song I have ever heard!"
Eda, who was also trying in vain to dry her tears, couldn't help but nod in agreement. "You got that right! Way to go, girls!"
….
After Luz and Amity's first dance as a married couple, everyone joined the dance floor as the band continued to play all kinds of music, from fast pace and upbeat, to slow and smooth. At one point, Luz found herself dancing with her mother while Amity was dancing with her father. Since the human witch's own father was sadly not here, Camila took it upon herself to do it for him. Her daughter was touched by this, and as they danced, she started to look a bit sad.
"What's wrong, Mija?" Camila said.
Luz shook her head. "Oh, nothing. I just wish Dad was here for all of this. You know?"
Her mother smiled and put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "I know, I do too. But know that he is watching over you, and he is very proud of you."
She then chuckled. "In fact, knowing him, he's probably bragging to all his friends about his daughter being a lobizon."
Now Luz chuckled. "Yeah, he probably is. Titan, he probably had cheerleading palms when I fought Dysley."
"Oh, without doubt."
They shared a good laugh with each other before they continued to dance for another couple minutes. After that, a voice from behind them spoke.
"Hey, Luz?"
They turned around to see Anna standing there, looking all shy and nervous.
"Hey, Anna!" Luz said with a smile. "Listen, I wanted to thank you again for helping my mom and others set all this up. I really appreciate it."
The redhead smiled back and nodded. "Yeah, of course. Anytime. Listen, I want to ask you for some advice."
"Yeah, shoot!"
"Okay, how do you…umm…ask someone you…uh…like…to dance with you?"
Luz gasped and grabbed her shoulders. "Oh my titan! Are you saying you have a crush on someone? Who is it? Tell me everything, girl!"
Anna then blushed as she looked down. "...Emira."
Now the human witch squealed and ran over to her wife. "Amity, come here! Quick!"
The purple haired witch excused herself from dancing with her father and took her hand. "What is it, Wolfie?"
Luz was practically bouncing with excitement. "You're not gonna believe this, but Anna has a crush on your sister!"
Amity blinked for a moment before forming a huge smile on her face and turning to the redhead. "Wait, are you serious?!"
Anna blushed deeper before nodding, making the purple haired witch squeal as well. "Oh, that's so awesome! Have you told her yet?"
Anna shook her head. "No, but I want to break the ice by asking her to dance with me. I'm nervous though. I've never actually done something like that before, and I was wondering if you guys could offer me advice."
The newlyweds turned to each other and nodded before turning back to her.
"Well," Luz said. "When it comes to actually asking her, there's really no fancy strategies and all that. The only way to do it is to just do it. That's what I did when I first asked Amity out."
"In addition," Amity said. "You just need to be yourself. Emira may be a jokester, but she still likes people who are honest, and it will definitely get her attention."
Anna nodded and took a deep breath before speaking. "Okay, I'll do that. Thanks, guys. I really appreciate it."
"You got it." The purple haired witch said. "Try to ask her quickly though. I think my dad is gonna ask Darius to dance and I need a way to distract Emira so she doesn't tease him."
She then formed a mischievous smile. "Besides, after all the times she teased me and Luz, I think it's time for some payback."
Luz snickered. "Oh, I like the sound of that. What about Edric though?"
"Don't worry, I have a plan in mind for him too, specifically involving dropping some ice down his suit on the dance floor."
Now the human witch was laughing out loud. "That is perfect! I'm sure that'll improve his dance moves!"
Even Camila could not keep a straight face at that mental image, and it took a minute for her to control her breathing.
….
Amity's plan turned out to be a success. Anna was still very nervous to ask Emira to dance with her. But when she did, the green haired witch happily accepted her offer, and they turned out to be a great dancing pair, almost as good as Luz and Amity, and the newlyweds couldn't help but smile at this. Something in their guts told them that this was going to be the start of a great relationship between Anna and Emira, and that was especially the case when they teased them about it, and made both of their faces turn red as a tomato.
Still though, their embarrassment wasn't quite as bad as Edric's. When Luz snuck up from behind him and dropped the ice cube down his suit, the yells he gave off, combined with the flailing of his arms and legs, was enough to make everyone nearby laugh hysterically. Amity in particular almost passed out because she had trouble breathing. Edric was pretty salty about the embarrassing moment at first, but then found himself laughing along with everyone else, agreeing it was retribution for all the times he and Emira teased Luz and Amity, but gave a friendly warning to the newlyweds to watch their backs.
Finally, it was time for dinner, and not a moment too soon. Luz's super senses meant she could smell the food no matter where she was, and it was starting to make her mouth water. She and everyone else happily helped themselves to the wide assortment of Human and Demon Realm foods available and took their seats at their respective tables. Once the two brides sat down, the toasts began.
Emira was the first one to give hers. "Luz, Amity, I don't think I've ever seen a couple more loyal and caring to each other than you guys. You've been through more than most people could ever imagine. Learning to find your place in the world, fighting Belos, and most recently the struggles of lycanthropy. Yet despite all of that, despite all the pain and suffering those times brought, you were always there for each other, and always came out on top stronger than before. What you have is a love that can never be defeated, and I am so proud of both of you for what you have and what you have accomplished. I wish nothing more than happiness for you for countless years to come."
The newlyweds dabbed fresh tears from their eyes as they and everyone else applauded.
Hunter was the next one to speak. "I'll try and say my part without being repetitive here, but it'll be hard since Emira said most of what I wanted to say. I do however want to emphasize what she did earlier with finding yourselves. As all of you know, when I first met Luz and Amity, I was the Golden Guard in Belos' army, and I thought at the time that I was happy with where I was. However, in reality I was only fooling myself. I was actually miserable, and wanted to have my own life where I could make my own choices, but I thought I couldn't. Luz and Amity changed that however. They taught me that you should never be afraid to go out and be your own person, no matter how much other people may think otherwise. You guys both knew that from hard won experience. And despite us not having a good start, you gave me a chance and helped me become the person I am today. However, it's nothing compared to the love and support you have for each other. Emira is right. Your love can never be matched, and I dedicate this toast to you and the happiness you have together."
Again, everyone applauded while the newlyweds shed tears. They were incredibly touched by their family's words, and it wasn't even over yet.
Camila, Eda, Alador, Vee, and King then stepped up.
"We decided to make this toast a joint effort." Camila said. "Since we all have pretty much the same thing to say. Luz, looking at you now, it's hard to believe that you were once a young teenager who struggled to fit in with the other kids. When I sent you away to camp that summer, I was hoping that your life would change for the better. And dios mío, it did in ways I could have never expected. You can imagine my surprise when I learned that you discovered another realm, a realm where witches and magic existed. Not only that, but you found a place that you were comfortable in, a place where you actually made friends. Most importantly though, you found love at its purest form."
Eda then took the mic. "I remember you and Boots didn't get along at first, but that was because you didn't understand her situation and what she was going through at the time. Once you did, you began to show her kindness and affection and slowly bring her out of her shell. When she did, we got to see the real Amity, and it was someone who was just as strong as you are, someone who was willing to give it their all to protect the people she loved."
Alador took the mic next. "And boy did you, Mittens. You stood up to your mother, repaired your relationship with Willow, and fought by Luz's side for every major battle there was to be had. From the day of unity, to being stuck in the human realm, to the battle against Belos, and finally the battle against Dysley. As long as you two had each other, the odds didn't matter. You faced every obstacle imaginable, and always managed to overcome them."
Vee spoke next. "Your bond has inspired us in many ways, because you two represent the best in all of us. You're brave, righteous, hopeful, caring, and empathetic. You have magic, yes, but your greatest power is that you never give up no matter what, with both life and each other. There truly is no one who has a better bond than you two."
King spoke next. "Jeez, I don't have a lot to say without repeating things, but I do stand by what everyone else said, and then some. I couldn't have asked for a better family, and I couldn't have asked for better heroes to look up to. You guys are just the best, and I can only hope that one day I can become even a quarter of the people that you are."
Camila took back the mic. "What we're all trying to say here is that…we are so proud of you, we love you so much, and we wish nothing but the absolute best for you."
This got a standing ovation from the audience, and now the two brides were flat out sobbing. They both sprung up from their chairs and ran over to their family to give them all big hugs, hugs they were more than happy to return.
"Thank you." Luz choked.
"We…We love you all too." Amity sniffed.
