My name is Faith Salvatore, at least it is now. Up until a few months ago, I was a guy named Finn Hudson, and I didn't even live in this town, or this world. I had just found out that I had gotten into college when I was in a car accident and seemingly died. However, when I woke up, I was here, and I was a girl. Now I'm in Mystic Falls as in the fake town that of a tv show that I now inhabit. I wasn't sure how I made it to The Vampire Diaries, a show I have never watched, but somehow, I was here. All I knew was that I needed to figure out how I was going survive.
I woke up in a bed. I had gotten used to the bed. I didn't really feel comfortable in my current body, but I was at least used to it. One of the hardest things to get used, besides the changes in anatomy, to was that I was now very short. I had been over six feet before and now I was just barely over five. I was pretty sure that I was even shorter than Rachel.
"Faith, are you up? We need to go to school soon?" Stefan called to me. Stefan was one of the vampires from the show, but from what I gathered, he wasn't dangerous. He only drank from the blood of animals, which was why my father…yes, my father, Zach, allowed him to live with us. I had a father for the first time in my life, but unfortunately, I no longer had a mother. As far as I knew, she wasn't dead, which in TV speak was code for I would see her in a later episode. I was pretty sure that I was only in the first one though.
The door to my room then opened and sure enough it was Stefan.
"I'm sorry." He remarked, noticing my state of dress. "I just needed to know if you were up."
"I should get dressed." I stated. He stood there for a second before he closed the door and left.
I had gotten used to wearing girl clothes. One thing that I learned was that Faith had a lot of skirts. I wasn't good at shopping for my own clothes, so I kind of stuck to wearing them. As weird as it was, I couldn't help but feel comfortable in skirts and dresses. They were pretty easy to move in and I found out that by not focusing on the fact that I was wearing them, I didn't mind them. I ended up putting on a leather jacket with a denim skirt and white tank top.
I walked downstairs to see my father was sitting at the table. It was definitely weird having a father, but it was also nice.
"Coffee?" He asked me. I didn't really like coffee.
"No, I'm good." I responded.
"Are you sure?" He replied in surprise as he gave me a look. I then remembered that Zach mentioned putting something in his coffee that was supposed to prevent mind control, and I took the glass and began to drink from it. I coughed a little because I drank too fast.
"We should head to school." I told Stefan.
"Are you driving?" He asked me. It had taken me some time to be ready to drive again. Being in a car accident was scary. I actually did have an excuse to be afraid to drive here though. You see I had a group of friends here that I spent a little bit of time with during the summer. It was mostly two girls named Bonnie and Caroline. However, there was also a third friend named Elena who was in a car accident herself and lost her parents. There was also the fact that I had just turned 16 in this universe, so I had just gotten my license.
I looked outside and found a blue Toyota Camry. It was one of the expensive ones. One thing that I learned was the Salvatores were very rich. They were quite a few rich families in the town. The place that we lived used to be a boarding house, but Zach had since closed it. I got inside of the car with Stefan in the passenger seat and began to drive. I found that there were a lot less people in Mystic Falls than there were in Lima. I did have to use the GPS to get to school though because I had only been there a few times.
We walked in together and all eyes seemed to be on us. I knew that I was supposed to take Stefan to office to register. I was pretty sure that most of the people were looking at him because it didn't seem like the town got very many new people. I just had to figure out where the office was. I finally made it there and saw the secretary.
"I need to register my cousin Stefan Salvatore." I declared. I probably could have just said his first name because if he was my cousin, there was a pretty good chance that he had the same last name as me. It was just weird trying to think of him as my cousin…or any relation to me at all.
I was nervous about the whole thing. As far as I knew, he was going to be posing as a 17-year-old junior, which to be honest, I didn't really buy him as. I knew that they tended to cast people who were older than their characters for TV shows, but I didn't really feel like that he fit as a 2000s teenager. Maybe an 1860s teenager because people tended to look older back then. I supposed if he dressed the right way, maybe he could sell it. I couldn't help but wonder what the actor would look like near the end of the show though.
"You're missing immunization records, and we do require transcripts." The secretary said. That was before Stefan lowered his glasses.
"Please look again. I'm sure everything you need is there." He stated. He was doing that mind control thing that I had heard about. It was kind of surprising to see it happen in person. I really hoped that stuff in the coffee would prevent it from happening to me.
"You're right. It is." She droned. That was why I was glad that I had my coffee, even though I don't like coffee. I had to see if there was another way for Zach to give me vervain.
You know I hadn't realized that I was starting my sophomore year over again. I also knew that Mystic Falls High didn't have a glee club. Though, there was no time for singing in this town. There was a piano in the house, so maybe I could learn how to play that.
I needed to go to class, Stefan wouldn't be in any classes with me. In fact, none of my friends would be in any of my classes. They were all my friends despite the fact that they were a year older than me. I didn't quite understand how that happened.
"Hey Faith." A girl with brown hair greeted me. I tried to think of what her name was.
"Hi…" I retorted. I had no idea who this person was. I couldn't help but wonder if I could try to fake it until I figured it out. "How was your summer?"
"Do you ever feel like there are not enough boys in this town?" She asked.
"No." I remarked with a blush.
"Of course you don't. You don't even like boys." She replied. I didn't know if people thought I was a lesbian, or if I had legitimately done things to make people believe I was one. "So, who was that guy that you came in with?"
"That was my cousin, Stefan." I answered. "Now if you excuse me, I need to remember how to get to my History class."
"Summer's really gotten to you. Just don't let Tanner know that." She joked. "Come on, I'll walk with you."
"Ms. Salvatore, Ms. Lockwood, it's good to see you." He declared. Well at least I knew her last name now. Now I just needed to figure out her first. "Has anyone seen Mr. Gilbert?"
"No." Someone answered.
After school was over, I decided to find Elena. I recognized her as one of the main characters from the show, so she was relatively easy to find. I hadn't talked to her much during the summer because she was grieving, and I was still trying to get more comfortable being a girl. She wasn't as tall as Caroline, but she still towered over me.
"Hey, Elena." I called to her. She stopped and looked at me. This was basically going to my first real conversation with her. "What are you doing right now?"
"I was going to see my parents." She started. I assumed that meant that she was going to the cemetery.
"I could give you a ride." I offered. I then tried to figure out a reason for why I would be at the cemetery. "I was…going to see my grandfather."
We headed to the cemetery, and I tried to figure out which Salvatore was my grandfather. I then noticed that the fog was beginning to form and saw that Elena was running, which caused her to run into me and both of us to fall over. We each took a tumble down the hill and appeared in front of Stefan. I hoped that he didn't think I was clumsy. Also, that was a downside of wearing a skirt, but thankfully, it didn't flip when I fell over.
"Hey." He greeted her.
"Did you follow me here?" She asked.
"No, but I saw you fall." He answered.
"And you just happened to be chilling in the cemetery." Elena remarked. It seemed like she didn't like him.
"I was looking for Faith." He answered.
"Elena, this is my cousin Stefan." I introduced.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm usually not this bitchy." She apologized. "You know this fog is making me foggy. I should get home. I can walk. So, you're in my history class, aren't you?"
"And English and French." Stefan added. I was pretty sure that the two of them were supposed to get together. He then pulled a twig out of her hair.
"Thanks, I should go." Elena remarked as she walked away.
"Did you hurt yourself?" Stefan asked me as I noticed an open wound on my leg and his face vamping out. That was the best way that I could describe it.
"Stefan, breathe. Breathe." I instructed. "You don't want to hurt me."
"We need to get home." He replied as he returned to normal.
"So, Elena's hot, don't you think?" I asked.
"I think you two would make a lovely couple." He joked.
"No, not for me." I replied as I noticed her diary on the ground. I knew could see if she wrote anything in it about me, but that would be wrong.
I later got ready to go to the Mystic Grill, which was the local restaurant as I noticed the book still on my dresser. I needed to set things in motion.
"Stefan, can you take this to Elena's house?" I questioned. "I know you know where it is."
"You should do it." He suggested. "You don't need to be invited in."
"Ugh, can't you see that I'm trying to set you up with a girl?" I asked in frustration.
"Faith, we know that me being with a human is a bad idea and I don't think I'd really want to be with a girl that looks like Katherine." He replied. All I really knew about Katherine was that she was the vampire who turned him, and she looked just like Elena.
"Please." I requested. "You spent all summer stalking this girl and now you don't want to talk to her anymore. Just give it a try"
"Fine." He agreed. "But I don't think this is going to be a very good idea."
I then drove the restaurant by myself. It felt weird going to eat by myself. I mean I could do it, but I would still feel weird about it. However as soon as I got there, I found out that wouldn't be necessary.
"Hey, Faith, come sit with us." My friend Bonnie replied. I actually had a bit of a crush on her because she kind of reminded me of Rachel, even though she really didn't look…or act much like her. Maybe it was due to the fact that even though she was taller than me, she wasn't as tall as Elena or Caroline were. She was with Caroline.
"Sure." I remarked as I went over to by them.
"What happened to your leg?" Caroline asked as she noticed the Band-Aid on it. You know another thing that I didn't like about wearing skirts was it meant that I had to shave my legs, but I had gotten better at it. I could say it was a shaving accident, but I decided to tell the truth.
"Elena and I fell down a hill at the cemetery." I answered. At that moment, Elena and Stefan walked in together. Caroline looked at her with jealousy in her eyes. The two of them then joined us and we all ordered our food. The place did have some pretty good food, even though Zach did still like to cook sometimes. I found out that vampires could eat normal food.
"So Stefan, you were born in Mystic Falls?" Caroline asked.
"I moved when I was still young." Stefan answered.
"What about your parents? Are they cool with you staying with Faith's dad?" Bonnie questioned. I assumed that because of his age that his parents were dead.
"My parents are dead." He responded.
"I'm sorry." Elena remarked. "Any siblings?"
"None that I talk to." Stefan replied. He did actually have a brother, but I hadn't met him yet. Stefan made it sound like I didn't want to meet him.
"So, Stefan…" Caroline interrupted. "If you're new then you don't know about the party tomorrow night."
"Actually, I told him about it." I lied. I only knew about the party because I had heard so many people tell me about including Lucy, who was the girl from earlier. "Remember that back-to-school thing at the Falls I was talking about?"
"Are you going?" He asked Elena. Maybe he was going to give a relationship with her a shot.
"Of course she is." Bonnie answered for her.
That night, when we got home, I was preparing to go to bed when Zach came in with a newspaper and an angry expression in the kitchen.
"You promised." He declared.
"This was an animal attack." I remarked.
"He tears up the bodies to make it look like animals did it." Zach argued. "You said you have it under control."
"I do." Stefan declared. I couldn't help but wonder if that meant that another vampire as in Stefan's brother had done it. I knew that he was also one of the main characters, so I would probably be seeing him very soon.
"Dad, I believe that he didn't do this." I piped in. It really felt weird calling someone that.
The following night, we were at the party. It looked wild and there was alcohol everyone. It was definitely not the kind of party that we had back home. I wondered if the cops just didn't know or didn't care. I was wearing the dress that Caroline had picked out for me. It was not only pretty short, but also kind of tight.
"So do you want something to drink?" Bonnie asked. "Oh, and I wanted to talk to you about how I'm psychic or something. Well, my Grams says I'm a witch, but I don't really believe that part."
"Maybe she's right?" I proposed.
"No, we all know that she has a few screws loose." She stated. "Now let's get so drunk that we find people hot enough to make out with it."
I was a little bit nervous about drinking considering that I knew what could happen when you got drunk at a party. That wasn't even counting what happened to Quinn. I found out that there were some things that he did to her, and I was pretty sure that I hadn't hit him hard enough. If I had known that at the time, I may have legitimately killed him. She then handed me a bottle and pulled away her in surprise.
"Are you okay?" I asked her.
"When I touched you, I saw a crow and a fog and a man in the fog." She remarked. Okay, now I was pretty sure that she was a witch, but she didn't really know it yet. "It's nothing. I just need some more to drink. It's going to be fine. We don't need to worry about anything. Come on let's get wasted."
Part of me thought that I should keep an eye on her to make sure that she didn't end up in the hands of someone who wasn't going to take care of her. I didn't know if I could fight anyone like this. I supposed there was one thing that I could do, even though I didn't want to think about it.
I also noticed that Elena and Stefan went over by the bridge that gave them a good view of the falls. I couldn't believe that I was so invested in trying to get the two of them together. Maybe it was the one thing that I knew was supposed to happen. I didn't really want to change the plot of this show even though I was pretty that I would end up changing things by simply being here. I was probably more concerned with the fact that I was pretty sure that people got killed on this show and I really didn't know what would happen if I died.
Of course, Stefan came back, and Caroline took him away.
"Caroline, it's not going to happen." He told her. It was a little harsh, but I supposed sometimes you just had to tell people that you weren't interested.
At that point, I went over to Elena.
"You've gotta be kidding me." She remarked,
"What?" I asked.
"Jeremy just walked out into the woods and now I have to go get him." She explained. "Ever since the accident, he's been so much trouble."
"Well, he lost his parents too." I pointed out.
"That doesn't give him the right to act like this." She argued. I was pretty sure people grieved in different ways.
"Well, I'll go with you." I offered. I knew that being in the woods alone typically wasn't that safe and I had seen a few horror movies where a character disappears into the woods never to be seen again.
The two of us walked into the woods. I was glad that I wasn't wearing heels, partly because I didn't really know how to walk in them and partly because I knew the surface wouldn't really support them.
"Jeremy!" Elena called. "Jeremy, you need to turn around, it's not safe out here."
At that point, he tripped over something. The two of us ran over and saw that it wasn't something. It was someone: a girl and she was bleeding from her neck. She looked kind of dead.
"Oh my God, Vicki. She's bleeding. She needs help." He explained. "Vicki, wake up!"
She briefed gasped for air before passing out again.
"Let's get her back to the party." I suggested. "Grab her arms."
I grabbed her legs, and we carried her back to the party, screaming for help. The crowd quickly formed. We needed them not to just watch because I didn't know how much time she had left.
"Someone, call 911!" I screamed.
From there I went over to Bonnie. I was pretty sure that the cops would show up with the ambulance. Of course, there were probably too many drunk people, and I knew that they couldn't arrest all of us. Technically unless we had alcohol on us, I didn't think that there was anything that they could do. I knew that it probably wasn't a good idea for me to drive and I didn't know if I felt safe walking home alone, especially since I wasn't entirely sure how to get there in the dark.
I went over to Elena, who looked like she was trying to talk to her brother. On top of that, I didn't know where Stefan was, but I assumed that it might have had something to do with him not wanting to be around Vicki when she was bleeding.
"Do you wanna come get coffee with us?" Bonnie asked. "Caroline had a pretty rough night, and I need to try to sober her up."
"Sure." I agreed. It was probably safer to do something with them. I probably wasn't in danger of dying, but that didn't mean that I wasn't afraid of it.
So, we ended up going to the Mystic Grill together. Caroline was crying over Stefan rejecting her. I couldn't help but wonder if she was always this dramatic.
"Why is it whenever I meet a guy, he's not interested in me? He likes Elena? Why am I never the one?" She asked.
"Caroline, you're really pretty." I remarked. Sure, her skin was a bit pale for me, but if I was still a guy, I would probably have some interest in her. I might still be interested in here, but I didn't really know her that well.
"Maybe I should just do what you do." Caroline suggested.
"Care, Faith is not a lesbian." Bonnie argued. "Just because she's never had a boyfriend doesn't mean that she doesn't like guys."
I kind of hoped that it did mean that I didn't like guys, because I knew that I didn't want a boyfriend.
"Look, Care, you're going to be okay. You will find someone someday." I offered. I kind of wanted to sing something to her, but I didn't think that would be very appropriate and I didn't even know if I could sing as a girl.
With that Bonnie and I got up.
"So, you can spend the night at my house if you want. My dad's out of town and I don't really want to go over to my Grams's house again." Bonnie offered.
"Sure." I declared as I followed her. "So, what do you think happened to Vicki?"
"She probably just got attacked by an animal since she was pretty far out in the woods." She suggested.
When we went to her house, she changed into her nightgown and all I could think about was how much I wanted to kiss her, but I didn't because I knew that it wouldn't be a good idea for me to have a crush on a fictional character.
"I think I'm going to sleep on the couch." I told her as I grabbed a pillow and a blanket. I did remember to wash off my makeup before I went to sleep.
So Faith still hasn't met Damon yet and she has a bit of a crush on Bonnie. Lucy is played by Katherine McNamara. Please don't forget to review.
