Before Max and Ariana left the school, her cousin insisted on getting Mr. Jeffersons number as well as Ariana giving him hers. Her reason being in case he needed to contact her regarding Max. While this exchange happened, Max was quietly waiting by the door, ready to leave at any moment's notice.

"Now Max." Ariana said as they started to drive off. "Feeling nauseous is just one of many side effects of this pill. It could also cause your period to come earlier or later as well as give you tender breasts or a stomach-ache." Ariana said as she entered the road leading into the centre of Arcadia Bay.

"I'll try and keep track." Max said as she looked out the window. "Where are we going by the way?" Max asked.

"It's been a while since I've been here, so I'm taking you to the two whales diner. I hope you don't mind that Max." Ariana said as she gave Max a quick glance before focusing on driving.

"Not at all." Max said as she chirped up hearing where they were going. "I might as well talk and spend some time with Chloe in that case, she started working there as a part timer last year after Halloween." Max said as Ariana kept driving.

"Who do you think made her get that job?" Ariana laughed as she drove on.

"Joyce of course." Max said.

"Wrong answer." Ariana said.

"Then who?" Max asked.

"Me, of course." Ariana said.

"You know Chloe?" Max asked surprised.

"Duh, I used to babysit her in my late teens, remember. That's how the two of you got to know each other." Ariana said laughing at Max for not remembering.

"Yeah, now I remember." Max said as she returned to looking outside the window.

"That's a pretty nice view." Ariana said. "Why don't you take your camera out and take a picture?" Ariana asked Max.

"I can't." Max said hesitantly.

"Why not? Did you forget your camera or something? I can turn around for you to go and get it." Ariana said giving Max a quick look.

"N-no, that's not why I can't take a picture." Max said as she breathed a heavy sigh.

"Then why?" Ariana kept asking.

"My camera, kind of broke yesterday due to a fall." Max finally said.

"Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that Max." Ariana said as they entered the parking lot of the Two Whales diner. "Do you think it's fixable?" Ariana asked as she turned to face Max now that she had parked up.

"I hope that it is, but it'll probably cost a fortune, which I don't have." Max said as she took her seatbelt off before exiting the car.

"You know Max, I've got a friend back in Portland who fixes old cameras and stuff. If you give me yours, I could ask if he could have a look at it for you." Ariana said as she held up her hand to stop Max from protesting. "No protesting, consider fixing your camera a graduation present from me." She continued as the two made it into the diner. "In the meantime, what will you be using for your class?" Ariana asked as they sat down in the furthest away booth.

"Mr. Jefferson let me borrow one of his digital cameras." Max said as she leaned back in the seat. "But it just won't be the same as my own." She continued as one of the servers came up to take their orders.

"Hi welcome to two whales, what would you… MAX!" Chloe almost creamed her name as she had walked over to take their orders.

"Hi Chloe." Max said. "How have you been?" she continued.

"I've been good. I paid the last bit to Frank that I owed him this morning." Chloe said as she took a seat next to Ariana.

"That's good to hear." Max said.

"Damn right and I've decided to not do any new business with him either." Chloe said as she leaned back. "And how's my favourite officer doing?" Chloe said as she turned to Ariana.

"I'm good, haven't gotten anywhere closer to figuring out where all the girls have gone but I have a feeling that sooner or later, someone who saw or know something will come forward." Ariana said.

"I hope you are right." Chloe said. "I just want Rachel to be found and returned home safe," she continued.

"Chloe, get your ass moving." Joyce called from behind the counter.

"Sorry, duty calls." Chloe said. "I'll bring coffee over to you guys in a moment." She said as she returned to work.

"So, Max." Ariana said in a more serious tone. "I know that I said that I would wait with the interrogation, but I just need to know. Did you have anything to drink during the party yesterday? And how much?" Ariana asked.

"All I had was one drink." Max said taking a deep breath. "I hadn't even thought of having any, but my friend Dana gave me hers that she hadn't touched yet. She said that she could get another one later." Max said looking Ariana in the eyes.

"Do you know if she put something in it?" Ariana asked. "I don't mean to say that your friend would do such a thing, but I have to ask." She quickly added.

"I don't think that she would ever intentionally drug someone, maybe Victoria, but not Dana." Max said. "I think the best thing would be to ask her yourself. I can arrange for you to meet her, say, next weekend?" Max asked. "Or we could go back to the dorms today and you can talk to her?" Max added. "I could text her and see if she's free this afternoon." Max said as she took her phone out to text Dana.

"Hm, that might be the best option. Who knows how much she will remember if we wait another week." Ariana said as Chloe arrived with their coffee.

"Here's your coffees and what would you guys like to eat today?" Chloe asked as she picked up her pen and paper to write down their orders.

"I'm feeling up for the Belgian waffles today." Max said.

"Good choice Max." Chloe said. "And for my favourite officer?" Chloe asked Ariana.

"I'll just stick with the bacon sandwich. Thank you, Chloe." Ariana said as Chloe walked away to hand over their orders to the chef.

"Dana texted that she's free this afternoon to hang out." Max said as she felt her phone vibrate signalling a text message. "She'll meet us in front of the dorms." Max added.

"That's good." Ariana said.
