Chapter 12: Snake in the Grass

Everyone stayed in the tent as Tarzan was shown projection slides. Sora and Dolly explained that when they first met Tarzan, he said something that they couldn't understand. Jane thought if they showed him slides of objects, they might find a match to the word. Stone stood guard outside as a precaution after Dolly told him about Sabor. Goofy walked over to Sora and Dolly, who refused to be near Donald.

Goofy: Hey guys, you're not mad at me, are you?

Sora and Dolly stopped being mad for a bit when Goofy asked that question.

Sora: Of course not, Goofy.

Dolly: We could never be mad you. You're a great friend.

Goofy smiled as Tarzan was shown the last slide.

Jane: Well, Tarzan?

Tarzan shook his head 'No'. None of the slides were his mystery word.

Sora: Tarzan, you said our friends were here.

Dolly: Can you lead us to them?

Tarzan shook his head 'No'.

Sora: Hey, I thought…

Clayton: (Coming inside) That leaves just one place. Children, We've in this jungle for some time now. But we have yet to encounter these friends of either of yours. I'd wager they're with the gorillas. But Tarzan refuses to take us to them.

Dolly looked at Tarzan and secretly shook her head 'No', not trusting Clayton's trigger finger.

Jane: Really, Mr. Clayton. Tarzan wouldn't hide-

Clayton: Then take us there! Take us to the gorillas. Go-ril-las.

Tarzan looked at Sora and Dolly. Dolly hoped Tarzan wouldn't if it meant Clayton would come, but he nodded his head 'Yes'.

Jane: Tarzan… Are you sure?

Tarzan: Tarzan go see Kerchek.

Jane: Kerchek?

Clayton: He must be the leader. Perfect. I'll go along as an escort. After all, the jungle is a dangerous place.

Clayton smiled, which made Sora feel uneasy like Dolly. Suddenly, everyone heard Stone open fire at something. Everyone ran out and saw Stone trying to blast Sabor.

Dolly: Sabor followed us?

Stone kept firing until Sabor ran off.

Sora: Were you actual trying to nail him?

Stone: No, sir. I was just scare him off.

Clayton: (Placing his hand on Stone's shoulder) A pity, dear boy. That leopard might've been a nice trophy.

Stone shot a glare at Clayton under his helmet. Tarzan led them after Clayton left. Dolly was mad at Donald, but she had to alert the others.

Donald: (Mad) What?

Dolly: I don't trust Clayton.

Donald was so confused, he stopped being mad for a bit.

Donald: Why?

Dolly: He's too eager to find the gorillas. Did he have any weapons on him when he found you and the others?

Donald: Now that you mention it… Yes. He had his rifle and nobody else was with him.

Dolly: We should keep an eye on him.

Donald went back to being mad but agreed Clayton was bad news. Tarzan led everyone up the treetops and across gaps until they found a couple of gorillas. One was male and had black fur, the other was female and had red fur. These were Kerchek and Nala respectively.

Tarzan: Kerchek, please listen to me. I know the nesting grounds are secret, but I trust them. You see, I want to help them because… Because… Well, they need us.

Nala looked at Kerchek. In truth, Tarzan was actually speaking ape so nobody understood what he was saying.

Goofy: (Looking at Donald) Did ya get that?

Donald: No.

Sparky: Naga.

Stone: I really need to install a translation programming into my Macrobinoculars.

Tarzan: Kerchek…

Kerchek felt something was wrong and walked off.

Tarzan: (As Nala followed) Kerchek…

Dolly: Something's wrong here.

Stone: (Using his Macrobinoculars) General, Kerchek was looking in the direction of the Treehouse.

Sora: We better investigate.

Everyone climbed up the path to the treehouse. The young gorilla that startled Donald earlier, Terk, was there. She was playing with an old globe, unaware that Clayton was aiming his rifle at her. Donald ran up from behind him and screamed. Clayton was so startled; he fired and missed the gorilla. She ran to safety as Kerchek arrived and saw everything.

Donald: (As Stone aimed his pistol at Clayton's head) What's the big idea?!

Tarzan: Wait, Kerchek. Please!

Kerchek walked away, thinking Tarzan betrayed them. Everyone felt sorry for Tarzan then looked angrily at Clayton.

Clayton: You don't understand. I was only trying to… Ah. A snake slithered by, you see. I saved that poor gorilla's life.

Tarzan was just disappointed.

Sora: Dolly, take Clayton's rifle. Stone, escort him back to camp.

Dolly grabbed Clayton's rifle and threw out the remaining shell. Stone brought out some handcuffs he had and put them on Clayton.

Clayton: Is this really necessary? (Getting zapped by Sparky) OW!

Sparky told Clayton to start walking. They escorted him back to Jane and told her what happened. Stone undid the handcuffs but kept his blaster aimed at Clayton.

Jane: How could you do such a thing!

Clayton: Now, Miss Porter, as I told you and these children. I was not aiming at the gorilla.

Sparky said something that was him saying he's full of bologna.

Jane: You are not to go near the gorillas again!

Clayton: All because of one mishap? Come now…

Stone switched the safety off on his blaster.

Stone: I missed the leopard on purpose.

Dolly drew Yubashiri and Sparky surged with electricity.

Dolly: (Tossing Clayton's rifle to him) One warning.

Clayton walked out of the tent and waited till they couldn't hear him to gripe.

Clayton: What am I doing with these imbeciles? (Not noticing Windsor spying on him) Blasted gorillas! I'll hunt down every last one of them! I'll track them down somehow! (Bring out his smoking pipe) I'll stake my life on it.

Just as he was about to smoke, something started moving in the jungle around him. Readying his rifle, Clayton stood ready to fight. Taking aim, Clayton fired a warning shot which the others heard. Everyone ran outside but Clayton was gone.

Sparky: IKAHTA!

Everyone saw five Heartless surrounding a gorilla. These Heartless had the same color scheme as a Soldier but looked like monkeys. These were Powerwilds.

Sora: (Summoning Lady Luck) Heartless!

The Heartless turned and saw the heroes.

Dolly: Here they come!

One jumped onto Dolly and started hitting her. Dolly moved to Tarzan to let him grab it and threw it off her and it slammed into another as Stone shot it. Sora swung his Keyblade but the Powerwild dodged it and pounced onto him. Sora blocked its hits with the Keyblade but he was pinned. Donald did the right thing and knocked it off him and Sora destroyed it.

Goofy: Here comes the last two!

Sparky jumped into Goofy's shield and he spun fast like a top, destroying the Powerwilds.

Sora: (Getting to his feet) What was with those Heartless? They looked like monkeys.

Donald: I guess Heartless tends to take the form of wherever they are.

Dolly: Makes sense to me.

Sparky: Ih.

Sora: … Thanks the help, Donald.

Donald: … Don't mention it.

Everyone heard panicking ape grunts from the jungle.

Tarzan: Apes in trouble!

Sora: We'll help you! Come on, guys!

Everyone ran into the jungle. Deep within, Powerwilds were threatening the apes. Tarzan charged and destroyed as the others caught up.

Stone: (Nailing some Heartless) You're not getting these gorillas.

Dolly started slicing some when she heard what sounded like a roar for help. Nearby, Sabor was trying to fend off Powerwilds.

Sora: (Seeing this while destroying a Powerwild) Should we help him?

Tarzan: (Destroying another Powerwild) Sabor, bad. Us, good.

Dolly understood what Tarzan was saying and knew saving Sabor was the right thing to do. Sparky jumped into Yubashiri and Dolly launched him at the Powerwilds. Sparky slammed into them like a missile and destroyed them. Sabor saw his rescuer among the chaos then ran off. Dolly jumped back into the fight.

Dolly: (Seeing a Powerwild going for Tarzan) Look out!

Tarzan looked behind him and knocked the Powerwild down. While Sora and Hawk Squadron were keeping the Heartless away from the gorillas, Terk was running for anywhere that was safe. Next thing Jane knew, Terk slammed into her. As Jane got Terk off her, she saw something that chilled her to her bones.
