Chapter 17: Cerberus
Everyone got back into the waiting room and caught their breath.
Phil: Whew, that was close!
Sora: (Panting) Distance cousin of yours, Dolly?
Dolly: (Panting) Not funny.
Stone: (Checking the door) What was that thing?!
Phil: That was Cerberus, the guardian of the Underworld.
Sparky said that Cerberus was far from home.
Phil: Herc should be able to handle him.
Dolly: I'm going to help him!
Phil: Don't be stupid, kid! Cerberus will make you a snack out of you before you could hurt him!
Dolly: That doesn't matter! Hercules need help!
Sora: Dolly's right! Herc is risking his life! Let's go help him!
Phil watched as they all ran to help Hercules. He grew a small smile as a teacher.
Phil: Warriors of the Heart… You really can't teach that.
Hercules had Cloud over his shoulder, unconscious but alive. Cerberus moved forward with every intention of killing Hercules. But Cerberus stopped when he sensed Sora and friends coming, ready to fight him. He was so focused on them, he didn't notice Hercules running away with Cloud.
Phil: Kids, I got two words of advice for you all: ATTACK!
Sparky jumped into one of Stone's blasters and started firing.
Sora: Dolly, you're with me. Goofy and Donald, flank left! We got to get on his back!
Donald and Goofy ran to the left as Sora and Dolly went straight at Cerberus. Cerberus was about to chomp at Donald and Goofy, but Stone fired his electric shots at Cerberus and got his attention.
Sora: Dolly, help me scale this dog!
Dolly did as Sora asked at the duo started to climb Cerberus. Donald and Goofy stood on the Audience Stands.
Donald: Throw me onto Cerberus!
Goofy grabbed his best friend and tossed him onto Cerberus just as Sora and Dolly got on his back.
Sora: Let's give him a large dose of electricity!
Donald: Yeah!
Dolly: I can't do magic.
Stone: Colonel, think fast!
Stone shot Sparky at Dolly and she caught him in Yubashiri. Cerberus tried to throw off his unwanted passengers. Stone armed a grenade and threw it into Cerberus' middle mouth. The explosion destroyed most of Cerberus' middle mouth's front teeth. Cerberus glared at Stone for destroying his teeth.
Stone: Come on! I'm right here!
Sora: Take a head!
Donald ran to Cerberus' left head, Dolly took his right head, and Sora had the middle.
Sora: (Him and Donald prepared a Thunder spell while Dolly prepare 1… 2… 3!
Just Cerberus was about kill Stone, he surged painfully with electricity from the group's attack. Cerberus roared in pain and soon fell unconscious.
Dolly: (Pulling Yubashiri out of Cerberus) Bad dog.
Dolly had no idea her stab mark would become Cerberus' weak spot. Sora and friends met back up with Phil and Hercules at the entrance. They were each given a medal for saving the Arena from Cerberus.
Phil: (Reading) Thus, I do hereby dub thee junior heroes, and confer upon thee full rights and privileges to participate in the games. Furthermore…
Donald interrupted in frustration.
Donald: Hey! What do you mean 'Junior Heroes'?
Phil: You rookies still don't understand what it takes to be a true hero.
Goofy: So, what does it take?
Dolly: We should at least know a clue.
Hercules: Well, that's just something you'll have to find out for yourselves. Just the way that I did.
Sora felt motivated by Hercules' words.
Sora: No problem. We'll start by proving ourselves in the games.
Phil: (As the entrance was sealed off) There ain't gonna be any games for a while. Gotta clean up the mess from that last battle first.
Sora: (As the others started to leave) Okay, we'll be back.
Phil: (As they were out of ear shot) I still can't believe those squirts actually beat Cerberus.
Hercules leaned in to confess something to Phil.
Hercules: To be honest, I'd already worn Cerberus down by the time they jumped in.
Phil felt like going over and telling them, but he didn't want to ruin all their good moods.
Phil: My lips are sealed.
