Chapter 19: Surprise after Surprise

Upon arriving back in Traverse Town, the group immediately headed for the shop for more supplies. For some reason, someone was by the front door. He wore a red shirt and blue jeans, a large hat covered his face like he was trying to get some sleep, and the only weapon he had was a Weequay blaster pistol.

Familiar Voice to Goofy: Welcome to the Adventurer's Supply. Shoplifting not allowed and please present your receipt to me upon leaving.

Goofy: Wait… MAX?!

The guard lifted his hat and it was Goofy's teenage son, Max.

Max: DAD!

The father and son hugged each other tightly.

Dolly: Goofy is a father.

Donald: Yeah, Max is his son.

Max: I looked all over the castle… I thought you were gone.

Goofy: I'm sorry I worried you. (Breaking hug) What are you doing here?

Max: I… Actually, I stole a shuttle, thinking I could catch up. But I crashed it here. I found Donald's nephews running a store and thought you'd come here. They hired me to act as a security guard while I'm here.

Goofy: Good to see you, son. (Snapping fingers) Where are my manners? Max, I'd like you to meet Hawk Squadron. These are Sora, Dolly, Stone, and Sparky.

The four of them gave Max a friendly hello.

Sora: Still need to see our receipt?

Max: (Letting them in) Nah. If you're my dad's friends, I trust you.

Everyone walked inside as the boys pulled up their credit.

Dolly: How much does it cost for your droids to give our ship a custom paint work?

Duey: That can be a free service if your buying fuel.

Sora nodded to Dolly as he checked out some new blankets.

Dolly: Make it so.

Stone was examining rocket launchers when he found a RPS-6 model.

Stone: Come to Stone.

Sora was looking around for more supplies when Jiminy came out from his jacket upon seeing a familiar living puppet.

Jiminy: Well, well, as I live and breathe! If it isn't Pinocchio!

Pinocchio stopped carrying something when Jiminy came to him.

Pinocchio: (As the others came over to him) Oh. Hi Jiminy.

Jiminy: What in the world are you doing here?

Pinocchio: Um… Playing Hide-and-Seek.

Jiminy: (Pacing) I just don't believe it. And here I was, up all night, just worried sick about you.

Jiminy stopped pacing on seeing Pinocchio's nose grow. Sparky said Pinocchio was lying.

Jiminy: Sparky's right. Are you telling the truth?

Pinocchio: Yes.

Dolly: So why is your nose growing?

Jiminy: And what's in the box?

Pinocchio: It's a present.

Jiminy: Pinoc, you're not supposed to tell lies. Your nose will know.

Pinocchio: But isn't taking something the easiest way to get it.

Dolly kneeled down and spoke gently to Pinocchio.

Dolly: No, taking something that's not yours is called stealing and that's a bad thing to do.

Stone: (Taking his helmet off) Colonel's right, kid. Getting an item through hard work is the right way to get something.

Jiminy: My friends are right. You need to listen to your conscience.

Pinocchio: You're all right. I'm sorry.

Pinocchio's nose shrunk back to normal size.

Jiminy: You need to be good so you can become a real boy. You promised Geppetto you would be, right?

Pinocchio perked up when he heard his father's name.

Pinocchio: Oh! Do you know where Father is?

Jiminy was confused by what Pinocchio said.

Jiminy: He's not with you?

Pinocchio: Jiminy, let's go find Father!

Jiminy: Now, hold on. It's dangerous out there. My friends can handle it but you can't.

Stone: Jiminy's right, kid. (Giving Pinocchio his helmet) We'll go out and look around. Why don't you hold this for me?

Pinocchio: Okay. I promise I'll keep it safe.

Just as Sora and friends left, a flash of light came and Pinocchio vanished. They returned an hour later and found Pinocchio was gone. Hewey, Duey, and Louie said they didn't see him leave. Jiminy was worried.

Dolly: You know he's okay, Jiminy. That's good.

Stone: The kid looked like he's got a good heart. He'll be okay till we find him again.

Sparky: Ih.

Jiminy: (As Donald came with a Phase II Coruscant Guard Clone Trooper helmet with an antenna on the right side) That's fellows.

Donald: (Giving it to Stone) Here. The boys said you can have this for free.

Stone put it on.

Sora: We better find Leon and the others. Maybe they saw him.

Everyone left in a hurry to find Pinocchio.
