Legacies and Lightning: Chapter 5
Hokage tower (1 month after Naruto started training): With Hiruzen
Hiruzen was sitting in his office doing paperwork as per usual and just trying to get through his day; as he signed another paper there was a knock at the door and he looked up "come in" he said.
The door knob turned and someone walked in; it was a dog masked anbu with silver hair pointing up into the air "Lord Hokage; I'm back from my mission, the coasts of Tea country are now free of pirates" he said.
"Ah 'Dog', so glad to see you" Hiruzen said with a smile "come on in; how long a has it been, a month".
"Two months lord Hokage" 'Dog' said as he walked in and closed the door "I'm just glad to be home; may I remove my mask". Hiruzen nodded and the anbu took off his mask revealing Kakashi Hatake, the copy ninja.
Kakashi was the current leader of the Anbu and second strongest shinobi in the village; he had gravity defying silver hair, a black face mask covering most of his face and had his forehead protector covering his left eye.
"Well I'm sorry it took you so long Kakashi; but I'm glad to see you back" Hiruzen said; Kakashi walked over and placed a scroll on his desk and eye smiled.
"Well Lord Hokage here's the mission scroll; I'll be leaving to start R " Kakashi said as he began to leave but Hiruzen stopped him.
"Kakashi wait; I have something for you to fix" Hiruzen said as he pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to Kakashi; Kakashi read it and saw it was a paper referring to Naruto, the son of his deceased sensei.
"Oh something having to do with Naruto; what did he do now" Kakashi asked wondering what he did now.
"While you were gone he passed the academy" Hiruzen said and Kakashi went wide eyed "also he defeated a treacherous chunin named Mizuki; and he did it all with lightning jutsu".
Kakashi was floored at this "Lightning Jutsu, are you kidding" Kakashi said looking at him with excitement "this is amazing, I can begin teaching him everything I know; when do I get started". Hiruzen gave Kakashi a sheepish smile and Kakashi spoke "what" he asked.
"Umm… I kind of gave him to Anko as an apprentice" Hiruzen said making Kakashi pale "in fact I asked him a few weeks ago if he wanted to have you as a sensei since you were a lightning jutsu specialist". Kakashi got hopeful at this and Hiruzen continued "and he said he wants to stay with his current group because" Hiruzen got a piece of paper and began to read it "'Anko is cool, Kurenai is nice and Yakumo is fun'".
Kakashi went wide eyed and spoke "what the hell" he shouted in protest "you promised me when he becomes a genin I'd be his sensei; you couldn't wait until I got back".
"I'm sorry Kakashi but he's made up his mind; heck he only accepted one other persons help because Anko recommended him to Naruto" Hiruzen said and Kakashi moved in closer.
"Who" Kakashi said.
Meanwhile at training ground 4: With Naruto and Yakumo
"Hyaaah" Yakumo shouted as she threw a kick at Naruto who blocked it; Naruto grabbed her leg and flung her over his shoulder. However before she could hit the ground Yakumo used her hand to catch herself and sent a kick to Naruto's chest; Naruto let go of her leg and blocked the kick but was sent backwards.
Yakumo got back to her feet and raised her hands in front of her before charing back in and began to throw punches and kick towards Naruto who began to block and dodge.
"YOSH, excellent defense Naruto; keep on defending" Might Guy shouted from the side lines next to Anko and Kurenai; Might Guy was a tall man with an unusual look to him. He had black hair made into a bowl cut, he wore a green spandex bodysuit with orange leg warmers; he also wore his jonin flak jacket and his forehead protector around his waist "and Yakumo, loving the aggression" he said.
Anko and Kurenai were both standing off to the side looking at their two apprentices fight "I have to say Guy this was a good idea" Anko said "Having aggressive Naruto on defense and passive Yakumo on offense; pretty good idea".
Guy looked to her and smiled "but of course, they both need to work on their weaker points of taijutsu; Naruto on his blocking and defending and Yakumo on her striking and aggression" he said.
"And your training routine for Yakumo has really helped out; her stamina is getting better, little by little" Kurenai said and Guy nodded.
"I train them together, but I train each of them as an individual" Guy said before looking at Naruto and Yakumo; suddenly his timer went off and he shouted "ok you two, pack it in".
Both Naruto and Yakumo stopped and ran over "yes Guy sensei" Naruto said smiling at the tall green clad man.
"Both of you have done enough sparring for today; now it's time to end this session with an exercise" Guy said as he pulled out four of his orange leg warmer and dropped them. When the leg warmers hit the ground it had a loud thud to it and Guy smiled "I want you both to put on these weights and run ten laps around this clearing" he said "and while you do that I'll do push ups until you are done".
"Ok Guy sensei" Yakumo said with a smile as she sat down on the ground "come on Naruto, lets go"; over the past month Yakumo has came out of her shell a little but Naruto being a good influence on her.
"Ok" Naruto said as he began to put on the weights; when both Naruto and Yakumo put on their weights and stood up "ok Yakumo, lets go". Naruto and Yakumo began to run and the sensei's looked at them.
"Well, time for me to start too" Guy said as he got on his hands and began to do push ups with perfect form and at a steady pace; Anko and Kurenai both rolled their eyes at this and were about to speak when the sound of feet landed near them.
"Yo" Kakashi said with his classic eye smile.
"Hey Kakashi, how you doing" Guy said with a smile while doing pushups.
"What's up cyclops" Anko said using Kakashi's nickname that he hated; Kakashi however birthed it off and continued talking
"Well I just got back to the village and I was told Naruto passed the exams" Kakashi said "I also heard that he's been using lighting jutsu; and as a ninjutsu expert I thought I'd-".
"No" both Anko and Kurenai said at the same time and Kakashi froze.
"What, why not" Kakashi said surprised.
"Umm; you're constantly late, you think you know everything, your lazy…" Anko listed off.
"You read that filthy porn book in public" Kurenai said and Kakashi looked at them both with a critical eye.
Kakashi looked at Kurenai first "First of all… it's not porn, it's erotic literature" Kakashi said and Kurenai groaned; Kakashi then turned to Anko "and second… you know I have too; he's, special to me".
"Hey Naruto rejected help from you on his own free will" Anko said "why, are you scared I'll be the one to train him to become an amazing ninja and not you".
"YES" Kakashi shouted surprising both women "you know what my sensei meant to me; if I could train Naruto… it would mean the world to me".
Kurenai tapped Anko on the shoulder and whispered in her ear "I think we should let him help" she said and Anko scoffed "he still has his anbu duties so he won't be around that much; you'll still be his primary sensei and he'll be like Guy… a tutor".
Anko smiled at this and nodded "right, that's a good idea" she whispered back before looking at Kakashi. "Ok Kakashi, here's the deal; you get one weekend a month and either me or Kurenai has to be there" Anko said "we're not going to have Naruto become some lazy, mask wearing, porn reading pervert like you".
"Ok that just felt personal" Kakashi said but he nodded "fine, one weekend a month with Naruto"; as soon as he said that Naruto and Yakumo ran up breathing heavily and sweating.
"Oh man I hate running with weights" Naruto said stretching his legs with Yakumo; Naruto looked over and saw someone he didn't know talking to Anko and Kurenai "hey who's this".
Kakashi seeing Naruto walked up and spoke "My name is Kakashi Hatake; I'm a friend of Anko and Kurenai here" he said with an eye smile.
"Wait you're the dude who reads porn in public" Naruto said making Anko laugh, Kurenai chuckle and Yakumo blush; Kakashi spun around and looked at the two women.
"Why did you tell him that" Kakashi said with a tic mark and Kurenai spoke up.
"We're not wrong" Kurenai said and Kakashi growled in frustration; however he ignored it and turned back around.
" I'm a jonin who happens to specialize in ninjutsu; more specifically lightning jutsu" Kakashi said and Naruto nodded In remembering.
"Oh yeah Ji-Ji told me about you" Naruto said "sorry but I don't want to leave Anko, Kurenai and Yakumo; they're my friends"; all three of them smiled at this and Kakashi spoke.
"I'm not taking you away, I just want to help you out" Kakashi said while putting his hand on Naruto's shoulder "when I look at you; I see me".
"You were an orphan who's hated by the village and almost beaten up several times" Naruto said; suddenly Kakashi grabbed Naruto and spoke.
"Who did that, tell em some names; I'll kill them" Kakashi said shaking Naruto.
"Let go of him you idiot" Kurenai said pulling Kakashi away.
Kakashi looked to Naruto who was a little dizzy "sorry about that um… so what do you say; want to learn from me" he said with a chuckle; Naruto looked at Kakashi and could tell he was being honest.
"Ok fine" Naruto said and Kakashi nodded "but Anko is still my sensei first".
"I have no problem with that" Kakashi said with a eye smile 'but that doesn't mean in the future I can swoop in and become your master'. "I'll let you know when I'm available and we'll begin to work on you lightning jutsu" Kakashi said as he took a few steps back "later gators"; Kakashi made a hand sign and vanished in a bolt of lightning.
"Hey he know the lightning shushin too" Naruto said with a smile; Yakumo looked at Naruto and chuckled but then grabbed her head "hey Yakumo are you ok".
"Yeah I'm fine; I'm probably just dehydrated" Yakumo said as she went over to her gear and grabbed her water bottle; unseen by Naruto she took out a white pill bottle with a pink cap grabbed some pills 'why won't it go away'. Yakumo took her pills and drank it down with water before running back with her stuff to Kurenai.
"I better take you home Yakumo" Kurenai said "it's getting a little late".
"Ok" Yakumo said.
"I'm going to stay here" Naruto said "Anko's going to help me control my Fuma Shuriken; I need to get better at throwing it".
"And I have just the thing to use for target practice" Anko said bringing out a scroll and opening it up; a pile of fruits and vegetables appeared "we're going to play real life fruit ninja".
"Oh, really, can I stay too" Guy asked kind of excited.
"You bet" Naruto said and Kurenai and Yakumo chuckled.
"Well we better get going; see you later" Kurenai said.
"Bye Naruto" Yakumo said as she walked up and gave him a hug; Naruto gave her one back.
"Later Yakumo; see you tomorrow" Naruto said and they both broke the hug; Yakumo and Kurenai both walked away and Naruto ran over to his gear and grabbed his fuma shuriken. "Alright; lets slice some fruit" Naruto said with a smile.
A few hours later
Naruto was munching on some watermelon while cleaning the fruit juice off his weapons "man that's some good fruit; where did you get it from" Naruto asked Anko.
"I got it from a farmers marker near the gate; these were cheaper because they were 'misshapen' or 'over ripe'" Anko said eating apple slices with caramel.
"I'm glad we're not wasting the fruit" Guy said as he finished a pineapple and got up "well I have to head home; I have to head to the academy tomorrow, apparently there's a young lad who is having problems using jutsu".
"Oh yeah; we'll have fun" Anko said.
"By Guy sensei" Naruto said; Guy nodded and left and Naruto got up "I better get going too; I got to huh-". Naruto looked to the side and saw a white bottle with a pink cap on the ground; Naruto walked over and picked it up and read the name "hey this is Yakumo's; she must've left it here" he said.
"Oh damn, guess I better go and give it to her" Anko said wiping her mouth.
"Nah I'll do it; I know where she lives" Naruto said as he put it in his pocket and picked up his stuff "it'll take me like twenty minutes". "See you tomorrow" Naruto said and Anko nodded.
"Later" Anko said and Naruto began to walk away; Anko then got up and stretched "oh boy I need a bath; but first some snacks".
1 Hour later: With Anko
Anko was walking home after buying some snacks from a local convenience store and was currently walking up the stairs to her and Kurenai's apartment.
"Finally home" Anko said as she took out her keys and opened her door; Anko walked in and spoke "Yo Kurenai, I'm back and I got some drinks".
"Oh Anko, I was wondering when you'd be done with training; how did it go with Naruto and Guy" Kurenai asked as she walked out of her room wearing lounge pants and a t shirt.
"Went pretty good; cut some fruit up and had a good time" Anko said as she took off her trench coat and put it on a coat rack near the door "we got done like an hour ago".
"I'm glad to hear that; how did Naruto do" Kurenai asked and Anko spoke.
"He did fine; although his nights not over, he's heading to Yakumo's place to drop off those pills she left behind" Anko said; unseen by her Kurenai stopped dead in her tracks and spoke.
"Pills; what pills" Kurenai said concerned but Anko didn't pick up on it.
"You know her pills in that white bottle with the pink cap" Anko said as she turned on the t.v. "I guess it fell out of her bag when she left with you".
Anko was then suddenly grabbed by Kurenai and brought to her feet their faces inches away from each other "when did Naruto go to give her the pills" Kurenai asked and Anko didn't respond "HOW LONG" she shouted.
"H-he left to give it to her when we were done training; why what-" Anko began but Kurenai dragged her to her feet and ran back to her room "what are you doing". Kurenai ran back out with her kunai pouch and her flak jacket on.
"We have to get to Naruto NOW; he's in trouble, Yakumo could lose control" Kurenai said as she ran out the door.
"Kurenai wait damn it" Anko said as she ran and grabbed her trench coat before exiting the apartment, closing and locking the door behind her "what's going on".
Outside the village; Kurama compound: With Naruto
"Man this was on heck of a walk" Naruto said as he walked up to Yakumo's house "maybe I should ask Yakumo to spend the night; it's pretty late now". Naruto knocked on the door to Yakumo's house and shouted "Hey Yakumo, it's me Naruto; you forgot your medicine at the training ground and I'm bringing it back" he said "Yakumo, are you here".
Naruto looked around and found a fake rock which Yakumo told him held her spare key; Naruto used the key to open the door and walked into her living room "Yakumo; are you in the shower or something" he said to no answer. "Well I'm just going to leave the pills on the table; is it cool if I spend the night" Naruto said; there was no sound and Naruto began to walk through the house "Yakumo".
Naruto walked to her main hallway and didn't see anything 'where the heck is she' he thought; Naruto spun around and looked at the living room and saw it was different. The furniture was gone, the walls and floors were heavily damaged and worse of all, the front door was gone; Naruto now on alert took out one of his collapsed Fuma shuriken and opened it, holding it with a shaky hand.
Naruto began to feel like he was in a horror movie as he walked into the living room and looked around "Yakumo; are you here, this isn't funny" he said his voice having a slight hitch to it.
"I'm here Naruto" Yakumo said from behind Naruto who spun around holding his weapon; she was standing in the darkness of the hall not showing her face "you shouldn't have come here". The lights began to flicker and Naruto began to grow even more scared.
"Yakumo, are you ok" Naruto said worried and looking around "is there an intruder here".
"Yes there is" Yakumo said as she walked into the flickering lights of the living room showing her face.
Yakumo had transformed into a demonic looking creature with dark skin, long ears, sharp fangs and and a snarling face; Naruto gulped in fear as Yakumo or what ever it walked bringing up a piece of canvas and a brush.
"You" Ido said as with a single swipe of the brush fire shot towards Naruto who jumped out of the way just in time and got into a defensive stance "time to die".
Naruto swallowed hard before steeling himself "Sorry Yakumo; looks like I'm going to have to knock some sense into you" he said as he gripped his shuriken "bring it on monster".
