Legadonia

Fuse

When Tanya asked me to destroy the Legadonian base, I went ahead and put an entire hole in the mountain because I needed to let go of some of the souls who were rebelling against me.

Apparently, she didn't expect that.

Tanya was thinking that all I was going to destroy was like, some walls, the turrets, and maybe an entire floor of the base if I was particularly strong.

I overestimated the strength of her B tier magic, apparently.

Anyhow, she still wanted a private conversation away from the ears of her subordinates, so I ended up following them back to Empire held territory so we could have a chat about the fact that we were from different worlds.

Of course, to doubly ensure that nobody was listening, I ended up casting domain expansion around the two of us.

The look on Tanya's face as Washington D.C formed around us was comedy gold.

"So," I said, sitting on the steps of Capitol Hill, "You're an isekai protagonist, yeah? What did you want to talk about?"

Quickly recomposing herself, Tanya asked me, "I would like to inquire about your origins. How did you come to this world?"

Not caring about hiding anything, I simply answered with the truth, "Some guy named Shapeshifter took me after I died and reincarnated me in another world with the ability to jump through worlds. Then during my initial reincarnation, I got the soul of a domino, that basically told me to collect all of the fragments of the dominoes. There's someone with one fragment of that domino, so I'm here to take it. I was planning to do it diplomatically, but she hates America, and I can't stand someone like that for even a second."

Tanya hums, "I see… Then, do you ignore the gaze of the gods, or…?"

Well, I haven't had the need to use this perk since my fight with Garbanag, but…

[Devourer Of Gods - All gods naturally fear you. Any attacks from gods from any world will be unable to instantly kill you, and if attacked by a god, you will be able to pull its physical form into your world, allowing you to harm it. Additionally, you deal a heavily increased amount of damage to gods.]

If there's a god, I will kill it.

"Well, I've come across a few gods here and there. I killed one, I befriended the others," I nonchalantly said, her jaw dropping at the simple admittance of killing a god.

Sure, that god was brand new and I revived him almost immediately after. But hey, gods are still gods even when they aren't really gods.

…Hm, that traitor, Vagisilious, was a restricted god of some sort. Maybe I could say that I killed 2 gods, but I missed my shot on that.

Clearing her throat, I could immediately see her about to request my aid on something, "Well! Mr. Fuse, if you are capable of killing gods, then… Well, as you may have guessed, I'm from Japan. I was a working adult, who died an unfortunate death at the hands of someone else before I was forcibly called into this world. The being who forcibly summoned me, whom I am calling Being X, is pulling the strings of this world. I believe, as an American, you hate tyrants, yes?"

"Who doesn't?" I commented, slightly interrupting Tanya's request.

Tanya nodded, "Indeed. I believe that Being X has been influencing the minds of several world leaders in order to pull the world into a war to test my faith, of which I have none for him. So I would like to ask of you-"

"To kill him, right?" I guessed, hitting it right on the head, "Sure. I fucking hate tyrants."

No self-respecting American would ever bow to a tyrannical god. Even the Christians believed that God gave them free will, even if it was all a part of his plan.

Killing tyrannical gods was probably the most patriotic thing I could do at this moment.

Tanya's face glowed brightly as she eagerly thanked me, "Oh! That's great! I don't know how to summon him, but he usually comes to me every once in a while, so let's stick together, right?"

Giving her a thumbs up, I went along with her idea, "Sure, I don't mind it. Though…"

The first person I met when I fell into Genshin Impact was Dori, who is super short but still an adult. Then I later befriended Nahida, who looks like a child but is 500 years old. Now I'm looking at a kid with the mind of a fully grown adult.

I may be cursed to never befriend someone over 5 feet tall.

Angeles barely counts because she's a robot, but at least she was like my height.

Tanya didn't hear any of my inner monologue, so she tilted her head as she confusedly asked, "Though?"

"Nevermind," I dismissed it, the joke landing in my head, "Well, I was planning on killing you, but I guess we're allies now."

I ignored her ghastly expression.

"So, I intend to deliver this nation to the Unified States," I continued, the word "unified" tasting foreign on my tongue when I want to say United, "You're fine with that, right?"

Tanya schooled her expression and nodded, "An alliance between the US and any nation in the world would be the world's strongest, no doubt. I have no objections to carrying the Empire into the palms of America."

Good to see that Tanya is a person of great intellect.

The United States had a good hand in both the world wars, so it's the right thing to do as someone essentially from the future to give the Unified States an even better hand.

After all, a stronger America is a better world.

The Empire, Germania

Hans von Zettour

Holding Tanya von Degurechaff's letter explaining the American she met in Legadonia, Fuse, Zettour curiously asked his colleague, Kurt von Rudersdorf, "So, did we give Tanya too much credit?"

In her letter, she is practically begging for the government to just accept all of Fuse's demands, stating that he had the capability to destroy the entire continent on his own if he wanted to. Even when they asked for other's opinions of those who met Fuse, they all returned the same answer, to please just submit.

"Perhaps…" Rudersdorf looked unsure even in his own answer, "An American man with the power to destroy an entire Legadonian fortress in one swell swoop, and demanding us to essentially kowtow to the Americans… Tanya is a patriotic child, she wouldn't have accepted those demands unless she surely thought that Fuse was strong enough to combat the Empire alone and win."

"Given those reports from the western front, it may be true," Zettour commented, curious on what his true strength was.

While they first gained intel about Fuse from the American embassy essentially telling them, "He's not with us," the man himself ended up making a name for himself on the battlefield, killing both sides.

Sure, it was only for a few hours, but he alone slayed thousands of soldiers with the help of some mystical companions that the survivors could only speak of with fear.

In fact, those survivors all seem to have one thing in common. They knew an American.

Such a patriotic man from a neutral nation as powerful as the Unified States was surely going to be an issue.

"It sure is a shame that our friends in the Imperial Government have stuck us with the problem of meeting him," Rudersdorf sarcastically said, "They say that we should deny his demands of submitting to the Unified States. Every single person that's met him says that we should."

Zettour hummed, suggesting, "It could be an advantage. While we are disadvantaged against Francois, we've captured Dacia and made great gains in Legadonia. If we make peace now, we shouldn't be forced to make any great concessions."

Rudersdorf simply countered, "This is a defensive war. The public is still out for blood against Francois. Any concession will be a great concession, even to the Unified States who are still trading with us, albeit in a limited way."

That was true, however…

"Let us let Fuse show what he is capable of tomorrow. We can make our decision after then, yes?"

Rudersdorf nodded, "Very well. I will be prepared for any possibility, but we will not bow."

Yes, for the glory of the Empire, they shall not easily bow to any demands that Fuse makes.

"So, you're Fuse's new allies?" The God known as Nahida calmly asked them as Rudersdorf, Zettour and Tanya were seated in another world, "Fuse may be a bit… Strange at times, but if you know how to handle his strong feelings, he's a great friend!"

"What do you mean 'handle my strong feelings'?" Fuse annoyedly asked, leaning back on his chair, "You're talking about me like I'm some animal that needs to be tamed."

Not taking it personally, the God of Nature giggled, "I didn't mean it like that. But you really do love your country a lot, it's hard for people to be friends with you if they don't know it at first."

As the two friends bickered with each other, the small pink-haired merchant commented to the three Germanians, "I hope Fuse hasn't offended you guys too much. He's just very patriotic… Feel free to ask him what happened to his America, and I think you'll understand why."

Tanya simply nodded in affirmation, "I will be sure to do so after this, then."

Rudersdorf and Zettour simply looked at each other.

Suddenly, kowtowing didn't seem so bad anymore.

"So, Fuse," Zettour cautiously tried to insert himself into the conversation.

Being accepted, he continued, "While we do not speak for the civilian part of the Empire's government, I would like to offer you the support of the military in tying the Empire to the Unified States. In fact, I would strongly advocate that we simply tie ourselves in a permanent alliance, in addition to reforming the government to become a democracy."

"That's good," Fuse said, seemingly pleased, "If you guys have that handled, then I can go ahead and kick Colette's ass to get her domino fragment. I can check in periodically after that."

The only reason that made any sense was because Tanya explained everything she knew about Fuse beforehand.

Now that Zettour thought about it, why did Fuse even go to Tanya in the first place? That's something that he should ask sooner or later…

…Actually, it might be smarter to just let it slide.

Drinking the unique beverage of another world, Zettour comes to the conclusion that he would like to keep the benefits of having an otherworldly traveler on their side.

"Dori, you have the location of their world in your mind, right?" Fuse asked, getting a nod in return, "I think 1 second here is 1 second there, so once they have enough, you can send them back. I'll be on the hunt, alright?"

Dori nodded, "Sure thing. See you later, Fuse."

As Fuse created another portal to leave, Dori simply sighed, "Every time I'm relaxing somewhere else, he calls me and asks me if I can do something for him…"

"Don't worry about her, she complains about it every time to his face," Nahida informed the three Germanians, "He's sorry about it."

"I see…" Tanya unassuredly said, "Ah, well… By the way, has Fuse told you about any other Gods…?"

Nahida went straight to the point, "If I were to fight Fuse now, I would die. He has a special ability that allows him to specifically target gods and make them mortal. I've never seen it in action before, but I do know Garbanag was the god he killed before reviving him."

For some reason, Tanya was very interested in this line of thought, "Oh? Tell me more."

Zettour and Rudersdorf shared another look with each other.

Right.

Killing gods.

Definitely the right move to bow.

Francois

Fuse

That probably went as well as it could have for me.

I was debating on just destroying an entire city with my geomancy just to see if I could, but then I figured that all of those souls were just going to rebel against me, so I just took them to Dori and let her figure it out.

Speaking of which, Dori and Nahida were together basically all the time. I have to call Dori back to the palace sometimes, but Nahida is almost always with her when she comes.

It was just a little bit odd, but I wasn't going to look that deeply into it.

Flying towards Francois, specifically Paris, or whatever this world's Paris was named, I idly thought of how peaceful this was looking to be.

Colette was much weaker than I was, the political situation seemed to be in my favor, and the god I haven't met yet seems to be avoiding me.

It really did look like I was going to have an easy time in this world.

You have obtained a fortune cookie!

Oh? Another one of these things.

Opening it in the air, I took a bite as I read my fortune for today.

'Their loyalty will no longer buy any renown or riches, or grant them power or ability, only the knowledge that they have served their master to the bitter end.'

…Huh.

I don't know who this applies to, but it sure seems sad.

Actually, they're all my fortune cookies. Are these all my fortune specifically? Some of these just sound like things I'll hear from other people.

Checking my list of fortunes, I picked out the ones that specifically support my point of view just to assure myself that not all of these apply to me.

'There shall be no 'forgiveness', no 'leniency'. No amount of flowers shall be permitted to bloom in this city while the infallible Azure Dragon rules.'

'Everlasting eternal glory to our almighty CEO and his perpetual benevolence! To the continuous prosperity and fraternity of Fair and Balanced Incorporated! Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah!'

Yeah, I doubt I'm ever going to be named Azure Dragon and try to create a dictatorship. Then Fair and Balanced Incorporated is one of Skryb's things, if I remember correctly.

I don't think he said it himself, but I remember one of the other guys… Chorus, I think it was, saying that he worked for it and stained his hands with blood. Given that he's one of the people Skryb introduced to me, he's probably the CEO.

…Huh, I haven't met Skryb in a while, huh?

Still flying towards Paris, I have a lingering feeling that this wasn't going to go as smoothly as I wanted it to.

AN:

Happy Thanksgiving day.

I started writing this 5 hours ago despite having the outline done for half a week. It's 5:30 AM right now.

"Mr. Skryb! Mr. Skryb! If you can write 2k words in 5 hours late at night, why can't you write more during the day?"

Well, you see, I have 2 monitors.

I can't multitask.

What can I say, my attention span isn't high enough to write daily. I only start writing when the fire is under me.

Also, saying I was going to write 100k words in the middle of November right after the most unproductive writing month I've had yet sure was bold. I only got like 10k words in lmao.

DECEMBER FOR SURE THOUGH! HUGE SKRYB PAYOFFS INCOMING!

[For punishment, I will be making a youtube video where I speedrun getting 5 random items in Minecraft. Why? Because 0bama said so.]
