Rissa was in her room. It was cold tonight. She was quietly enjoying her bourbon. She was also enjoying the quiet. Which, the moment she realised she was enjoying it, was interrupted by a knock on the door. She groaned, trying to signal for Stephanie to open it, but remembered that her sister was working late. Marissa finished the drink in one go and slowly got off her bed, which was almost painful. It was moments like these in which she missed living in a studio apartment. The bed was right next to the door, and the alcohol was right next to the bed, and the door was… Oh! Door!
She vamped over and opened it. There stood Guy, smiling to her, wearing a ridiculously long jacket that his mom probably made him wear to protect him from the cold. He came in and took it off.
-How did you do that? You weren't invited in.
-Oh, that means a vampire must own it. Or at least co-own it. It worked with my place, too, since it's legally owned by both me and my mom.
-Fascinating. Why are you here?
-I need to talk to you about something. Is your sister home?
-No. She's at work, which, by the way, means that I have nothing to eat. So, McDonald's.
-I heard it's nice.
-What do you mean, "heard"?
-I've never tried it.
-What? Never?
-No. It's not healthy.
-Says who, your mom?
Awkward silence.
-Oh, yeah. You've got to try it.
-No, I shouldn't…
-Yes, you should!- Rissa laughed and grabbed a fry off the counter. Guy opened his mouth to protest, and she put the fry in it. He swallowed.
-What are you…- and then he stopped talking and thought for a second. Looked at the remaining fries. Then at Rissa. Then ran over to the counter and started stuffing his mouth with the fries as quickly as he could (which was quickly, him being a hybrid). Rissa smirked and chuckled:
-So, what did you want to talk to me about?- Guy swallowed:
-Oh, I kinda, maybe told Mommy you were my girlfriend. Maybe.
-Gonna need a bit more info on that one, man.
-Well, I was gone for two days, and she immediately sensed something off about me, and I couldn't tell her the truth…
-But I thought your mommy says you should always tell the truth.- Marissa said in a mock-babying voice. Guy blushed. She laughed. He smiled. She took him by the hand. -Wanna watch the moon?
-Sure.
Rissa led him to her room. Her bed was in the middle, with a bedside table on each side. The closet was in the corner, so the room itself had a lot of empty space, which Rissa liked. Guy saw the empty bourbon glass on the table:
-Who left that there?
-Me.
-But you're eighteen.
-Yeah, so?
-Mommy says you shouldn't drink until you're at least thirty.
-And Rissa says "no."
They made their way through the empty part of the room to the large window. It had a great view of New York. It was beautiful.
-So, Rissa, what's so special about the moon today?
-Oh, it's a full moon.
-I love the full moon! I've always loved watching it!
-Must be the werewolf gene.
-YeaaaaaAAAAAAHHHHH!- he suddenly screamed as he fell to the floor. Marissa knelt next to Guy, who was still screaming, trying to distract herself from him, and understand what's happening. This must be because he killed that Derek guy. That triggered his curse. But he's a hybrid, he's supposed to have control over this! This is probably what happens if someone triggers their curse after turning into a vampire, that they need to turn on the next full moon, probably just to be aware of their hybrid abilities.
But this won't help him right now. She's heard stories about the Lockwoods, about Tyler, who went through so much pain when he turned the first time. And that was Tyler. He was a strong bad boy. Guy… Guy just tried McDonald's for the first time at twenty-two!
-Hey, hey, calm down…
-It hurts, IT HURTS! RISSA! WHAT'S HAPPENING TO MEEEEEE?!
-It's your werewolf curse, it's gonna be okay…
-It feels like I'm DYING!
-That's… okay, you're already dead.
-YOU'RE NOT HELPING!
-I know…
-Am I going to…- he was bawling. -Rissa, what am I becoming?
-A wolf. But only for one night, okay, then you can turn back…
-AHHHHHH!- his arms were stretching and cracking in ways Marissa didn't think were possible. She gently rubbed his back, trying to calm him down, but it wasn't helping and she knew it. There was nothing she could do.
-It's gonna be okay, okay? This is just for today. You'll never have to do that again for the rest of your eternal life!
-IT HURTS! RISSA, HELP! MAKE IT STOP!- the clothes were ripping on him. Claws were growing.
-I'm sorry, I can't…
-WHY IS THERE FUR ON ME?! WHY?! RISSA, RUN!- she knew she should. His bite is deadly to her, and he can't control himself once in wolf form. But she didn't. She stayed, still rubbing his back, even as he completely turned into wolf form.
