"What's going on here!" said Dr Rick Stanton as he burst onto the main deck of the USS Scorpion.

"Give me the full rundown, I just got sent here because the higher up wanted a titan specialist to look at whatever scrap our king's in this time."

"Godzilla had been tracking the previously unknown titan known asTitanisJörmungandr," said one of the many people working away at their screens, "so far all we know is that titans around the globe have been getting rowdy, moving exploring, fighting. This titan here has recently raided what's left of the nuclear power plant in Florida and seems to have angered Godzilla."

Rick looked at one of the screens that plotted the positions of both Godzilla and Jörmungandr on a world map. They were both in the east Atlantic, just west of the Bay of Biscay. Godzilla seemed to be chasing Jörmungandr north, judging by the dotted line that showed where each of the titans had travelled.

"Where's their predicted point of contact?" Rick asked

"The English channel," one of the Monarch employees said ,"we've already sent a flood and titan warning to France and the UK in case things get hairy."

"How long till predicted contact?" he asked.

"A few hours," replied one of the crew.

The doctor nodded and found himself a seat where he could relax and further review the data collected by the crew of the USS Scorpion and whittle away the time until the battle.

"Sir!" one of the crew shouted to the captain of the ship, "the contacts have converged."

"Ok," Stanton said, mentally getting the situation in order ," get me all the data where I can see it. Try and get a good viewpoint using those new camera drones, I want all the angles.''

The scientist then pulled a bottle from his bag and took a swig, redying himself for the flurry of information he was going to have to try and process. He could analyse and go back through the data later but he'd rather not. Best to get it over and done with.

!SHREEEEEEEEEEEONK!

Godzilla's signature roar shook the ship like a ton of bricks. The entire deck crew jumped out of their skins, utterly shook. Most of them had not yet heard that roar, only recordings that somewhat stripped the primordial demonstration of power of its grandeur.

In response, a reverberating click passed through the hull. You could feel it rattling your bones making you want to squirm out of your skin. This click was then followed by a loud rattling sound as if from a massive shaker. The camera drones shot out the hull of the sub and shine their spotlights on the scaly, mottled skin of a giant. It was Jörmungandr.

It had the head of an adder, with cold dead black eyes. Around the back of its head was a sort of maine, made out of glowing bright white, bioluminescent fronds, that looked like a cross between a leaf and a feather. The rest of its body was long and serpentine with a sharp ridge going down its back and a finned tail like that of an eel's. At the end of its tail was a rattle that also glowed with pearlescent bioluminescence.

(ok. Now I have done more research into the monsterverse and have realised that I have basically just copied the design ofTitanis Tiamat, but since I didn't do it on purpose we'll just call it convergent evolution.)

The creature was only about 50 metres away from the sub but its attention was diverted.

"Shut off the shields and all lights," yelled the captain of the Scorpion, "then back up to a safe distance and shut off the engine too."

Stanton sighed and shook his head, this tactic always made him uneasy. one carless swing of a titan's arm or a single breath in their general direction could send everyone on the sub to the afterlife. But he had to admit, it had worked so far.

The ship reversed to a safe distance and then floated dead in the water, the sea still illuminated only by the glowing white fronds around the neck of Jörmungandr.

"Must be an intimidation display," he said to himself, "so that means..."

As if on cue another set of lights began to flash in the water, illuminating the jagged dorsal fins and scaly form of godzilla.
