Chapter 1: The reunion

When we parked, I quickly got out of the car and we arrived at our old house that was opposite Fly's, my nerves took over.

-What are you waiting for? Go say hi to him!-My mother said as she got out of the car.

-But what if he doesn't remember me?-I said with worry.

-Oh honey, don't be discouraged! Go and say hello to his mother for me, okay?-

While my parents and my brother were in charge of the move, I slowly went to the door of Fly's house and nervously knocked on the door. It took them a while to open, but a minute later a red-haired woman a little taller than me opened the door. She was Fly's mother

-Hello, good afternoon-I said-I was wondering if…-

-Felicity?-She said.

Apparently she had recognized me and hugged me, it was a little awkward.

-How much you have grown! Have you and your parents returned to town?-

-Yes, is Fly home?-I asked.

-He's in his room, come on in dear, don't just stand there!-She told me kindly.

She accompanied me to the living room. His house, both inside and out, was as I remembered it.

-Nothing has changed-I said quietly.

-I'll tell Fly to come, you wait here okay?-She said as she climbed the stairs of his house.

I was left alone in the living room, I was very afraid, what if he didn't remember me? That question was on my mind but it wouldn't take so long to be answered.

-But who came to see me mom?-I heard a young male voice that came closer and closer, my body trembled.

-Do you remember that you had a friend who moved to another place?-

-Emm…more or less…-

I got up from the couch and there was a boy my height, blonde and a little dark. He was wearing an orange sweatshirt with jeans and a brown cap. It was Fly, after so many years, I saw him again.

-Hey Fly...remember me?-I said nervously.

He stared at me for a long, uncomfortable moment.

-Feli?-

-Yeah, it's me...-

Before I could finish speaking, he ran to hug me (I could see some tears falling). I started crying with joy and accidentally threw him to the ground with me on top of him.

-I can't believe you're really here!-Fly said-It's been so long-

-I know…-I said-But now we will get it back, I have so many things to tell you!-

-Me too! A lot of things have happened since you left, come, I'll tell you with detail in my room - He told me with enthusiasm.

Fly took my hand and we went to his room. We stayed talking about what we were doing these last few years.

-I'm glad you're back, the truth is that it wasn't the same without you-Fly told me.

-I can imagine...hey, I think that tomorrow we will be officially settled, would you like to hang out in the afternoon?-I asked him.

-Sure! We can go fishing on that rock where we used to go when we were kids-

-Great idea! Although you'll have to guide me 'cause my mind's a little rusty-

We both laughed and continued talking until it started to get late and Lisa (Fly's mother) came into the room.

-Felicity, your mother told me to go home now, it's getting late-

Fly walked me to the door, we gave each other another big hug and I said goodbye. When I got home I took off my hat and put it on the coat rack, then my brother jumped up to hug me.

-How was everything with Fly, honey?-My mother asked me.

-It was great! We stayed talking and tomorrow we're going fishing!-

-Who's Fly? -My brother asked in my arms.

-My best friend, you'll love him when you meet him-

I gave Steven a kiss on the forehead, took him out of my arms, and he went off to play.

-I hope you had a good time with Fly, now help us unpack-My mother told me, giving me a box.

I stayed the rest of the afternoon helping my parents re-settle us. When it became night, I put on my pajamas and went to my old room. It made me very nostalgic to be in that room again, but I was also very tired so I lay down on the bed and fell asleep instantly.

The next morning, we went to visit my aunt Elsa and my cousin Celia, with whom I don't get along very well. Their house had a very elegant and modern atmosphere. While our parents were talking and Steven was exploring the house, I went to Celia who was sitting on the couch and tried to start a conversation with her:

-Hey Celia, how's it going?-I told her while I gave her a little nudge.

-What do you want?-She said while she was reading a book.

-Do you know who Fly is? You've probably seen him here since you came at the beginning of the year.

-Yes, we go to the same school, why?-She answered me without taking her eyes off the book.

-Well, I'm meeting him this afternoon to go fishing. Would you like to come?-I told her.

She looked at me a little out of the corner of his eye, then she looked at my face and closed the book:

-Do you think I want to go fishing with you and your friend? Don't even think about it Feli-

-Come on! It'll be fun if you come too!-

Celia gave a heavy sigh.

-If I go with you, will you leave me alone?-

-Yes, yes, yes! I promise I'll never bother you again!-

-We would have to ask him first to my mother, although I don't think she will let me…-

I interrupted Celia by holding her hand and we went to our parents.

-Do you need something girls?-Asked my mother.

-I was just wondering if Celia could come spend the afternoon-I commented-And that she could come fishing with me and Fly…-

-There is no way my daughter will go with that boy!-My aunt exclaimed-Besides, you are very busy today Celia-

-Oh come on Elsa-My father told her-Let Celia go with Felicity, let her take the day off-

My aunt hesitated until she agreed to let Celia come.

-Celia, you have permission to go with your cousin-My aunt said. Then he addressed my parents-Bring her to me before midnight or else…-
