Chapter 12 - The Unforeseen Simulation Joint
It had been a few days since a swarm of reporters were able to enter U.A. High School through unknown methods for an unknown purpose (skipped since that portion of the story is practically filler. Ida is still Class President, Momo is still Vice-President. The only difference is that Chopper would be elected initially as Class President over Izuku, but he'd still step down from his role for Ida after he successfully calmed the students when the reporters broke into UA).
The only clue that had been left behind that day was that the barrier had been turned to dust; was this an isolated incident caused by an overzealous reporter, or was this some greater threat directed towards U.A., maybe even heroes as a whole? That was the issue which nobody could find a consensus on.
Whatever the case, classes continued to run normally, and even a special field trip was to happen for today's basic hero training course.
"Now for today's basic hero training. This time, myself, All Might, and one other person will be coming to supervise." Aizawa explained.
"Um!" Sero said, raising his hand, "What exactly are we gonna be doing?"
"Preparing you for disaster relief, from fire to floods." Aizawa explained, "Today we'll be doing rescue training."
The U.A. Students quickly got dressed, whether it was in their P.E. costumes or their hero costumes.
"You're wearing your gym clothes, Deku? Where's your costume?" Uraraka asked, as she and the rest of the class were walking to the bus that was to take them to today's rescue training.
"Unfortunately, it didn't make it through the battle training the other day in one piece…" Izuku stated, as his costume had been all burned up by Bakugo's constant explosions directed at it (it was just a jumpsuit after all), "The school support company is repairing it, so I've just gotta wait at this point."
After the students had boarded the bus which was to carry them, conversation would begin to spark.
"I generally say what's on my mind, Midoriya." Tsuyu began.
"Oh? What is it Asui?" Izuku asked.
"Call me Tsuyu." Tsuyu interjected, before stating, "Your quirk is kinda like All Might's."
Izuku momentarily flinched, not expecting the out of nowhere question, as he responded, "Uh… yeah! I guess it kind of is… a lot weaker though, unless I use enough power to break my arm…"
"Still! That sort of strength enhancing quirk is pretty awesome, you can definitely do a lot of cool stuff with it!" Kirishima responded, "Not like my Hardening… it's good in a fight, but it's really boring."
"I think it's still pretty cool though!" Izuku interjected, "It's more than enough if you want to go pro!"
"Speaking of quirks, I think it's really cool how you're able to get by without one, Ryuko!" Mina interjected, as the subject of Mina's compliment was shocked in the process, "You're really cool with that scissor blade."
"Oh… t-thanks!" Ryuko muttered.
"Pro heroes don't just need strength though! They need to worry about your popularity as well!" Kaminari interjected, "You could probably market yourself really well as an underdog if you're quirkless!"
"My Naval Laser will be both cool and strong." Aoyama announced, "Perfect for a pro hero."
"Just as long as you don't get a tummy ache!" Mina argued, to the dissatisfaction of Aoyama, "If you wanna talk cool and strong though, I think the stars of the Battle Trial would be a good place to start!"
"Oh, mon dieu!"
"Chopper's got more than just the cool factor though… he's also a cute animal, which gives him a huge bonus!" Sato asserted, as Chopper began dancing and thanking Sato for the compliment in his own way.
"Bakugo'd never get popular though, he's too unhinged." Tsuyu stated.
"What'd you say, frog face?!" Bakugo shouted.
"See?" Tsuyu said, pointing towards the angry Bakugo.
Conversation continued within the entire bus ride to the site of today's basic hero course training, with many conversations, arguments, and laughs. Unfortunately, for Class 1-A, that attitude would not be continuing into the class which was about to occur.
"This site is prepared so that you can experience rescue in every accident and disaster you can imagine, and I built it all myself!" a hero in an astronaut costume stated, "I call it: the 'Unforeseen Simulation Joint!' or USJ for short!"
"Woah! It's the Space Hero: Thirteen!" Izuku remarked with awe, "She's polite and proper, and has trained specifically to excel in rescue scenarios!"
"Ooh, I love Thirteen!" Uraraka added with excitement.
"Thirteen," Aizawa whispered beside the hero, "where's All Might? I thought he'd be meeting us here."
"It seems he reached his limit during his morning commute." Thirteen explained, "He's resting in the break room for now."
"Really committed to being a teacher, I see." Aizawa commented sarcastically, afterwards stating, "So be it. Let's get started now!"
"Before we do, I have some points to make… like one, two… four?" Thirteen stated, having not planned any specific speech before this, but she began an improvised one shortly after this.
"As I'm sure many of you are aware, my quirk is called, 'Black Hole'." Thirteen explained, "It can suck in and tear apart anything."
"And you've used it to save people in all sorts of disasters!" Izuku noted.
"Yes, but, my power could also easily kill someone, as I'm sure many of yours could as well." Thirteen commented grimly, setting a darker tone for the conversation to come, "We must never forget that it takes just someone to make one wrong move with an uncontrollable quirk for another to die… even in our heavily monitored superhuman society."
At the first mention of death, Izuku then recalled the events on Sabaody; he thought he had gotten over it, but, it seemed he hadn't quite. He cringed in the process at remembering such an event, which Uraraka took notice of.
"Are you alright, Deku?" she asked.
"Yeah… just had a bad memory." he whispered back.
"During Aizawa's fitness test, you learnt of your own hidden potential, and during All Might's battle training, you experienced the various dangers that your quirks can pose to others." Thirteen explained, "This class will show you a different perspective on how you can use your quirks to save lives!"
Izuku breathed in, refocusing himself as he stood up straight and tall. Also having taken notice of this, Chopper walked up to Izuku.
"You remembered what happened back down on Sabaody, didn't you?" the doctor questioned.
"Yeah… but, it also reminded me just how important something like this is!" Izuku professed with vigor, "If I only focus on the pain in the world, then I'll never be able to save it with a smile!"
Hearing this from Izuku, Chopper smiled, as it was clear that Izuku had learnt to use his experience, even though it hurt him, to grow stronger.
"Your powers are not meant to inflict harm on others!" Thirteen said, continuing her speech, "I hope you leave here today understanding that they are meant to help people… and that is all, I thank you for listening!"
"Wow! That was so manly!" Kirishima exclaimed.
"Bravo! Bravo!" Ida said, clapping his hands.
"Great. Now first-" Aizawa began to say, before he noticed an unknown, swirling purple void forming at the bottom of the stairs which led into the USJ.
The void expanded, as Aizawa questioned just what this was. The portal then expanded… revealing a man with blue hair, and a hand cut off from someone else's body over his face.
Aizawa flinched, as he noted that everything had gone wrong in an instant.
"Huddle up, and don't move!" Aizawa quickly ordered, as while many of the students hesitated, not understanding what Aizawa meant, it was only those who had experienced similar danger in the past, Izuku, Chopper, and Ryuko, who instantly recognized the threat that stood before them.
Aizawa then yelled, "Thirteen! Protect the students!"
"What the heck is that… more robots? Like on the Entrance Exam?!" Kirishima asked.
"No!" Izuku professed, "Those are villains!"
Today was the day that most of Class 1-A learnt for the first time just what pro heroes fought against every day… the dark underbelly of society, those who lurked in the shadows; villains.
"Only Thirteen and Eraser Head?" a purple void villain stated, "Isn't All Might supposed to be here, as per the class schedule?"
"Of course. This whole incident was his doing!" Aizawa stated, speaking of All Might, "Either the time the reporters broke in was these guys, and that's how they got our class schedules… or… maybe it could have been Chopper?"
"Where is he?" a scratchy voice stated, "We've come all this way… and brought so many playmates, and now All Might, the Symbol of Peace, isn't here?!"
The voice hesitated, as he thought of a devious plan, and then, voiced it.
"I wonder if some dead kids will bring him here?!"
Each of the three heroes who had experienced danger in the past stopped. Ryuko recalled the moment she had come face to face with All for One and the numerous fights she got into during Elementary and Middle School, Izuku recalled the Sabaody Archipelago, and Chopper recalled his crew's fights with both Aokiji and Bartholemew Kuma.
Each of them had experienced extraordinary helplessness in those moments, but now, they weren't just gonna sit back and watch.
"Thirteen! Evacuate the students and try calling the school! One of these villains must be jamming the sensors, and there's a good chance it's an electric-type villain… Kaminari! Try using your quirk to signal for help!" Aizawa explained efficiently.
"Got it!" Kaminari responded.
"Sir! Let me help you fight!" Chopper, currently in his heavy point, requested. Aizawa hesitated momentarily.
"No." he responded.
"Huh?!" Chopper stated in shock, as Aizawa elaborated.
"Your job is to evacuate!… Thirteen! Take care of them!"
While Aizawa would have definitely appreciated the extra help in the battle to come, he still wasn't absolutely sure that he could trust Chopper. He was a pirate, and for all he knew, he could have been the one who orchestrated this attack. It was Aizawa's best bet currently to not accept his help. If Chopper was a villain, maybe him not accepting Chopper's aid would throw a wrench in his plan. And if Chopper wasn't, then he'd be safe, and have his future as a hero protected.
Either way, Aizawa wasn't just a one trick pony, but a pro hero with years of experience under his belt. He could easily take on any fodder that came his way.
"While Aizawa's distracting the villains down there, let's hurry up and evacuate!" Thirteen cried.
"You won't have the chance." the villain made up of a purple void stated, moving in front of the group.
Without a moment's hesitation, Izuku activated five percent of One for All, and rushed towards the villain.
At the same time, Ryuko dropped the case containing her scissor blade, which popped open on contact with the ground and threw Ryuko's scissor blade up into the air, which she caught, now prepared to rush in alongside Izuku.
Izuku extended his right leg forwards, since it was the leg which was to lead his attack, as while keeping the rest of his body together, he yelled out, "USJ… SMASH!".
While Izuku attacked, Ryuko also arrived, and slashed the void villain herself, but while Izuku went straight through the villain, Ryuko's slash seemingly did a decent bit of damage, causing Kurogiri to recoil backwards.
"My my… it seems someone is impatient." Kurogiri stammered, "To think, we haven't even been introduced yet. We are the League of Villains, and we're here to kill the Symbol of Peace."
As he said this, Kurogiri unleashed a massive wave of energy around the battlefield, which teleported most of the U.A. students to a different location within the building at random.
"Wah?! The Flood Zone?!" Chopper cried out, as he fell straight into the water below. Now in the water, Chopper decided to transform from his Heavy Point to his Guard Point, but due to his Devil Fruit ability, he began drowning regardless. Unable to move, Chopper gradually began to revert back to his brain point. A villain, who was ready for Chopper to fall, saw the reindeer and smirked, ready to kill him.
"There you are!" the villain shouted.
Unfortunately for the villain however, Tsuyu was also teleported to the Flood Zone. She quickly kicked the villain in the side of the head before he could reach Chopper, and upon seeing the drowning reindeer, wrapped her tongue around him to save him, throwing him onto a nearby ship once they got close to the surface. Chopper reverted to his Brain Point form, and Tsuyu then jumped on the ship herself.
"So then Chopper, you can't swim?" Tsuyu asked.
"One of the side effects of eating a Devil Fruit is that you're hated by the sea… and if you go in any water that's above knee-deep, you won't be able to move your body." Chopper explained, as Tsuyu looked confused.
"A Devil Fruit?" she questioned.
"Ah! Crap, you're not supposed to know about those!" Chopper cried out, "Just forget I ever said that…"
"Hm… well, either way, we seem to be in trouble here." Tsuyu stated, acknowledging that now wasn't the time to question it.
"Yeah… that one void villain back there said that they knew our schedule!" Chopper noted, but then he looked up at Tsuyu, "However, seeing as they teleported you into the Flood Zone, I doubt they know our abilities."
Chopper then looked out to the sea, looking over the railings by transforming into his heavy point, and Tsuyu also looked. What they saw in the water was hordes of villains… but they weren't attacking.
"Yeah… they don't seem to be attacking us." Tsuyu stated.
"Either way… if they're here to kill All Might…" Chopper stated, determined, "Then everyone's probably in danger! We've gotta take out these villains, and come up with a plan!"
"Yeah but… what can we do to take all these guys out?" Tsuyu questioned.
"Hey, you bastard! Quit hogging all the glory!" the angry Ryuko Matoi shouted, having been transferred to the Landslide Zone alongside none other than Shoto Todoroki, who had swiftly defeated a horde of villains who awaited.
"Why? We've got a job to do?" Todoroki stated, "Now… let's see just what you guys can tell us… villains."
"Where is everyone?! Can we confirm their locations?" Ida asked, together with the majority of his class near USJ's entrance.
"They've been scattered, but they're still within the facility!" Shoji answered, using his quirk to scan the entirety of USJ with relative ease.
"My attack completely missed…" Izuku thought, analyzing Kurogiri's movement while the rest of the class tried to make sense of the situation, "But Ryuko was able to hit Kurogiri… that means, around all that void, he has to have a true body! His teleportation will be a pain… but I can do this!"
"Aside from the fact you have no hope…" Kurogiri began, as Izuku stopped thinking to pay attention to what was happening, "Why did you just decide to discuss your strategy within earshot of the enemy?"
Kurogiri referred to the plan which Thirteen had devised, as Ida was to run with his quirk and get help as fast as possible.
"It hardly matters! You won't be able to stop us!" Thirteen stated, as she utilized her quirk on Kurogiri, which was able to suck up Kurogiri's fog surrounding him.
"His body! Now's my chance!" Izuku thought, as in that moment, Izuku noticed that his body… it could do more! His speed, he accelerated faster than last time, just fast enough to catch Kurogiri off guard… as he could now manage 8% of his power!
"SABAODY… SMASH!" Izuku yelled, as he was able to land a solid hit on Kurogiri's body.
After discussing what the other's quirk did, Chopper and Tsuyu began to formulate a plan.
"I can't fight them head on in the water while they're so spread out… and you'd be outnumbered…" Chopper began, as Tsuyu interjected.
"Is there anything on this boat that we can hit them with? I can use my tongue to swing it around at them and bring them close together."
Chopper then quickly realized that Tsuyu was right, and that was perfect!
"Tsuyu! That's a great idea!" Chopper yelled.
"It is?"
"I'm bored… let's finish this!" one of the villains in the water said, as through manipulation of the water, he easily cut the boat both Chopper and Tsuyu were standing on in two.
"Tsuyu!" Chopper ordered, "That object you were talking about… I'll act as one by transforming into my Guard Point!" Chopper quickly stated, formulating a plan before the boat was destroyed, "We'll use that to lure out all the villains!"
"But… won't you drown in the process?" Tsuyu asked.
"I'll be fine so long as I'm not under the water for long!"
"Okay… if you say so!"
Chopper then transformed into his Brain Point, as Tsuyu stretched her tongue around him, jumping into the water. The villains questioned just what the pair was doing, as Chopper began to be spun around in the water, and once Tsuyu had accumulated enough momentum, Chopper thought,
"Guard point!"
As he transformed into a massive ball. Tsuyu perfectly aimed Chopper, using him in order to deal damage to many of the villains, who took minimal damage.
"You bastard! Get over here!" one of the villains yelled, as the villains began swarming Chopper. Tsuyu, noticing this, jumped out of the water quickly, and back onto the boat, which was to be falling soon. Coughing temporarily and reverting back to his Brain Point, Chopper then thought,
"Jump point!"
Chopper then jumped straight up, above all the villains who had been gathered together to try and attack him prior.
"Arm Point!" Chopper thought, as all the villains questioned just what Chopper was doing… but Chopper had thought of a new strategy.
Back in the Battle Trial, he recalled seeing Izuku using about seventy percent of his power in order to create a massive air pressure wave, breaking even all the floors above him… so why couldn't he do that as well?
"Cloven Diamond!" Chopper shouted, as he attacked the water below him, with the resulting air pressure wave creating a massive hole in the water below, dealing massive damage and knocking out most, if not all, of the aquatic villains which lay below him, with a strength that rivaled, no, exceeded even All Might's!
Now falling to the same aquatic depths that would doom him just like his enemies, Chopper let out a quick scream after transforming back into his Brain Point, but Tsuyu was able to catch him with her tongue, taking the young boy out to safety in the process.
"Seems they're all washed up." Tsuyu stated, "Good job, Chopper."
"Thanks, Tsuyu." Chopper swiftly responded with a smile on his face.
Tsuyu and Chopper had officially beaten their first challenge, but the worst was still yet to come.
"SABAODY… SMASH!" Izuku had yelled previously, having been able to hit Kurogiri's true body, but… it was already too late, for Kurogiri had already redirected Thirteen's quirk back on her.
Izuku looked back momentarily, as Kurogiri stated, "You're strong… but unfortunately, your weak allies will be your own weakness today."
"Don't you dare…" Izuku said in a raised voice, as he powered up even further than Kurogiri had expected, "Talk about them that way!"
Izuku, with twenty percent of his power, the most he could muster without breaking his limbs, launched himself at Kurogiri. Surprised by Izuku's speed and strength, Kurogiri forced himself to escape, leaving Ida's retreat to call for backup even easier than it normally would have been.
"Everyone! You guys get out of here too!" Izuku yelled back at his friends, reverting back down to eight percent.
"Eh? But Deku, what about you?" Uraraka questioned, seeing a lit fire in Izuku's eyes.
"I'm gonna stick back… and help Aizawa!"
Before anyone could stop him, Izuku had already leaped straight into action.
"Stay safe!" Izuku heard Uraraka call out from behind him, but he couldn't focus on that now. Izuku refocused plainly on what was ahead.
"I've got to get back to the school as fast as possible!" Ida thought, as he kicked his engines into high gear. Ida looked behind him, as he saw his classmates pouring out of the USJ building behind him, "Thank goodness… they seem to be getting out just fine."
Ida then turned his attention back to the roads in front of him, but to his surprise, he was running directly into a thick layer of purple fog.
"Not so fast." the fog spoke, revealing itself to be Kurogiri.
"Shoot!" Ida thought, trying to stop himself, but it was too late.
Ida slid directly into the fog which Kurogiri had placed in front of him… as he was transported into an unknown and empty grassy field. Ida tried to turn back around and run into the portal before it shut, but the portal shut too fast for him to even start his engines.
Upon seeing the portal close, Ida clenched his fist… he didn't pay attention, and his classmates had paid the price. He then dropped to his knees, and screamed,
"Damn it!"
Meanwhile, back at the exit to USJ, the classmates of Ida were shocked by the fact that he had simply vanished.
"The rest of you should be of no trouble." Kurogiri voiced, as he teleported back into USJ.
"Crap!" Mina shouted, tears beginning to sprout in her eyes, "What do we do?!"
"Nobody is coming then…" Shoji stated solemnly, as Uraraka stood silently behind him.
"What would Deku do in this situation? What would Ida do in this situation?" she thought, as she took a deep breath in, "Mina!"
"Yeah?"
"You're the fastest here besides Ida! You have to get back to the school as soon as possible!" Uraraka commanded, touching Mina's clothes in the process, "It's not much… but I'll lighten your load as much as possible!"
"Oh… right!" Mina said, reassuring herself, as she began to splash acid beneath herself to travel quickly, yelling back, "Stay safe, you guys!"
"Then if she's going back to the school," Shoji began, "then let's head back in, and get Thirteen out here!"
"Right!" the students of Class 1-A who were outside responded (formerly Ida and Mina, currently Sato, Shoji, Sero, and Uraraka)
Back when Izuku jumped down the stairway to help Aizawa, the student saw Eraser Head leap back off of Shigaraki, as he quickly took down two villains who were trying to get the jump on his teacher.
"Midoriya?!" Aizawa questioned, "What are you doing here? Why didn't you escape with the others?!"
"I'm here to back you up, Aizawa sir!" Izuku announced, "I can't retreat if I haven't guaranteed everyone's safety... even yours!"
Aizawa paused for a minute, and sighed. He clearly didn't like this.
"Fine. Just be careful of that boss guy, he has a power which can disintegrate you!"
"Then… is he the same guy that broke down the U.A. gate earlier?!"
"Probably!" Aizawa stated.
"Oooh… so close, hero!" the blue haired villain commented, "Because while you're right about all that other stuff… I'm not the boss here!"
As Shigaraki said this, a portal appeared behind Aizawa, summoning a strange creature from it's depths.
It looked human, with a muscular body and beige cargo shorts to boot… but everything else suggested it wasn't.
Its skin wasn't any color you typically saw, but pitch black, with red marks all around it. On its knees, it carried what appeared to be knee pads in the shape of skulls… and its face… on its face was a beak, protruding outwards where its head should be, and on top of that was its brain, fully visible with its eyes stationed right on the sides of its face.
The creature moved with devastating speed and accuracy, as before Izuku could blink, Aizawa was already pinned down.
"Mr. Aizawa!" Izuku shouted.
And an instant later, Aizawa's arm was broken.
Shocking Review Showcase
Yo yo yo. It's been a while since I've done this, but I figured that I would do this again, just to answer some questions.
First and foremost, thanks for joining back in on the Fanfiction after it's long break MaximumRhapsody, I appreciate you sticking around.
As for the question of why Izuku was willing to talk to Bakugo about having an inherited quirk, I will first say that Izuku did this in the canon story. Why? Because the entirety of the fight in the Battle Trial showed a little piece of Bakugo's insecurity to Izuku; Izuku's sudden increase in power made Bakugo feel inadequate about himself... and Izuku would always rather ease someone's concerns than keep the secret of One for All.
That isn't to say that Izuku sees little value in keeping One for All a secret (after all, he already knows about All for One in this story), it's just that he respects Bakugo enough to feel this is something he 'needs' to tell him.
As for Senketsu, there are a few extra pieces of development I'd like Ryuko to undergo by herself before he joins in on the story, plus, Ryuko with Senketsu would be simply overwhelming to the power-scaling of Kill One Hero at this time... after all, if a Three-Star Goku uniform has capabilities on par with All Might, then even Ryuko at the beginning of Kill La Kill would easily surpass her entire class.
The rest in your review I will leave for you to linger on.
