Chapter 11: Lovers in the Long Grass
Zoro couldn't move, but he could still see and still think. He knew what was happening, but there was nothing he could do about it. He failed in trying to save Sanji. He just wasn't strong enough. Even though he was numb, he refused to show any fear even when the executioner brought over the torch. Zoro kept trying to move but his body was not responding. He watched as the torch was shoved into the bundles of sticks, creating small flames. Soon those flames would grow and engulf him. The smell of the smoke burned his nostrils and eye. The fire started to grow and spread to other bundles. This is not how he wanted to die- he wanted to die a warrior, a fighter, and have a noble death. The flames continued to grow and Zoro could feel the heat from the fire.
Zoro's eye scanned the open area for sights of Luffy but the field was empty. He caught sight of Sanji's brothers watching from the balcony. He wanted to kill them all, but he's not going to get the chance.
And then, he heard it. They all heard it. The sound of a battle horn. Zoro knew that was Luffy! Zoro could see a small army of soldiers coming their way. Zoro could see Luffy riding on horseback towards them. The flames were getting higher and closer to his feet. Zoro couldn't hear what Judge and the brothers were saying because of the hungry flames. But they were scared, as they should be.
Sanji saw Luffy coming and his tears turned into laughter. They were saved! But Zoro was still on the pyre. Sanji rushed to his door and kept trying to break it down. Suddenly, he hears a click of the lock and it's Reiju who opens it, freeing him.
"Go save Zoro now!" She said.
Sanji quickly thanked her and ran as fast as he could to the front. There were no guards around because of Luffy's ambush, so he was able to get to the courtyard without issue. He burst through the front doors and saw the large flames getting closer. Sanji pushed through the panicking crowd and made his way to the pyre. He reached it but the flames were still too high, but he had an idea. He quickly ran around the pyre to the back where the flames hadn't reached yet. Sanji climbs the sticks, slipping a few times, before reaching the stake. He untied Zoro's wrists and Zoro almost fell forward into the flames. Sanji caught him in time and dragged Zoro from the fire.
"They…numbed me," Zoro said. "I can't move very well,"
"I've got you!" Sanji said, with tears of relief streaming down his cheeks. "It's going to be okay!" Sanji embraced Zoro's limp body, pulling him closer. Luffy's army already breached the castle grounds and his family's soldiers came out to fight them. Sanji watched as Luffy used the horse to kick open the castle door with its mighty hooves. Sanji smirked as Luffy rode inside. His brothers wouldn't stand a chance!
"I'm feeling better," Zoro said, moving from Sanji's embrace. "I have feeling in my body again. I have to help Luffy!"
"No! Stay here," Sanji said. "You can barely move! You can't fight if you can't move!"
Zoro started to cough from all the smoke. He knew Sanji was right, and he also knew that Luffy can take care of himself. He had just escaped death thanks to Luffy and Sanji. He managed to wrap his arm around Sanji's shoulders and pulled him close.
"Thanks for saving me," Zoro said.
"It was nothing, and we have to leave this place," he said. "Luffy is dealing with my family, we're not needed here,"
Zoro tried to get up and he was successful this time, but he quickly fell to the ground. He was still unable to move, but it was getting better. He hated how he couldn't help Luffy. He hated being so weak!
Sanji attempted to get Zoro up by helping him stand. Zoro was pretty heavy, and Sanji had to really put his back into it. This time, Zoro was able to stand on his own without falling. He said he still can't feel a lot of his legs but at least he was standing. Sanji wondered if Luffy found his brothers by now. He wished he could see their faces when Luffy attacks. They were afraid of Luffy's alpha aura.
"Let's just wait here until Luffy comes out." Sanji said. "I hope he's really giving it his all. I would like to see my brothers scared and beat to a pulp for a change!"
"So do I," Zoro said. "I can feel my knees now,"
Sanji slipped his arm around Zoro's waist, helping him to stand. He looked up and saw that pretty much all of Judges' men were surrendering and dropping their weapons. Sanji smirked in triumph; they had won the battle and saved Zoro. They waited a while and by the time Luffy emerged from the castle, Zoro regained all the feeling in his body. They both ran up to Luffy to find out what happened. Luffy laughed and threw his arms around their shoulders.
"They won't be bothering you again, Sanji," Luffy said. "You don't have to marry Blackbeard either! Both Law and Zoro," he looked to his friend. "Have been avenged! Now we can all go home."
Home? Sanji played the word over in his mind. This was his home. No, this was not his home, it was hell. His home was with Luffy and Zoro now. He looked back at the castle as they started to leave. He had gone through years of terror behind those stone walls. Now that Luffy had defeated them, Sanji knew he would never have to look at this horrible place again. He was free of his family and now free from his marriage to Blackbeard. He will miss his sister, but Reiju will understand. She knows where to find him.
"Sanji, come on, we're heading out," Zoro said.
Sanji noticed his father standing by a window, watching him. Sanji met Judges' gaze before turning away and leaving with the others. He would never look back.
Two weeks had passed since the attack on his old home and Sanji had never felt better. He lay in the long grass, his hands folded behind his head and his legs crossed. He felt so relaxed. He couldn't believe he was carrying around all that anxiety and fear of his family. It was like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. And a few days after the fight, he and Zoro decided to mate and get married. He moved one of his hands to feel the mating bite on his shoulder. It came from a wild night of passion after the small wedding, and they grew closer to one another.
There is one problem, however. Now that he's married and mated, he'll have to start making a nest. He always thought nesting was a stupid idea in his omega lessons. He swore he would never build one, but that had recently changed. Now that he was with Zoro, his instincts were pushing him to build one. It was an old, primitive way of doing things back when the people were living in caves and in small tribes. But, he will also need the nest before Zoro goes away. Zoro was going with Luffy to a meeting with all the alpha nobles and would be gone for about a week or more. Sanji would need that nest to keep him calm and have it filled with Zoro's scent. It was an old way to help a pregnant 0mega stay calm when the alpha is away for a prolonged period. It's supposed to be a great source of comfort.
There was a nesting room in the castle and Sanji would have to build the nest there. He would be with Law, who was pregnant again. He and Law had gotten pregnant around the same time. Sanji then rubbed his still flat stomach where a new life was growing. He tried not to think of the miscarriage he had with the first child. He could never forget that terrible moment. But he has to stay strong and stay focused on his current pregnancy. He let his mind drift away as he watched the white clouds lazily float above. The moment was interrupted when Sanji heard someone coming through the long grass. He opened his eyes and saw that it was Zoro.
Sanji smiled and said, "Come lay with me," he patted the other side of the blanket.
"You've been out here for a while," Zoro said. "It's still not entirely safe to wander around on your own; especially in your condition." Zoro took a seat on the blanket but didn't lay down. "Are you watching the clouds?"
"I am," Sanji yanked Zoro down so they were laying together. He pushed himself against Zoro's body, cuddling him. "I like when you don't wear a shirt," Sanji nuzzled Zoro's muscular chest.
"It's hot out," Zoro said, wrapping his arm around Sanji's waist to hold him.
They were silent for a few moments. Then, Sanji decided to tell Zoro that he would start making a nest, and he would need items of clothing and blankets and furs to make it comfortable. Zoro mentioned that it was likely too early to build a nest and that Sanji should wait until it was almost time to deliver. But Sanji reminded him that he would leave with Luffy often to attend peace hearings. They would be gone for a while as they had to travel often. Zoro nodded and closed his eye, enjoying the sun on his face.
"I want this to be our spot," Sanji said. "With all this tall grass around, we can escape life for a while."
"I wouldn't mind that," Zoro said.
Sanji yawned. "I think I'm going to take a quick nap."
"I'm going to join you in that," As Zoro said that he instantly fell asleep.
Sanji could tell whenever Zoro falls asleep. He rested his head on Zoro's chest to listen to the heartbeat. Sanji closed his eyes and fell asleep a few moments later. When Sanji woke up, the sun had gone down and it was getting dark. Sanji shook Zoro's shoulder to wake him up. Zoro was a very deep sleeper. After a few more heavy shaking, Zoro finally woke up and sat up with a large yawn.
"It's getting dark," Sanji told him. "We should head back."
"You're right. I'm hungry for some food, too."
"If we leave now, we can make it to dinner," Sanji said. "So long as Luffy doesn't eat it all before we get there!"
Zoro chuckled. "Then we'd better hurry."
Back at the castle, Sanji actually ate more than the others. He's been extra hungry since he found out he was pregnant. He was eating for two, though. Luffy had a habit of licking the plate like a dog. After he'd clean a plate, he'd lap up whatever was left over. Law became annoyed and threw a grape at Luffy, saying how much he hates when Luffy does that. Sanji liked living here, it was like a family. A real family. And in the coming months, they will have two new members of the family. This baby would have the best parents and all the love they could give. Sanji will never do to his child what his father did to him. This child was going to be safe and loved.
After dinner, Luffy and Law went to the nursery to start putting their gaggle of children to bed. Sanji was ready to build his nest, and he wanted privacy while doing it. Zoro was fine with that and he chose to train instead. Sanji went to their room and started gathering clothing items. Zoro had a lot of cloaks that would work well for the nest. He took some of Zoro's clothing as well as the spare blankets on the bed and a deer's pelt. Sanji had the items in a huge pile in his arms that reached above his head. He had to stretch his neck to look around the tower of fabrics.
It was a long walk to the nesting room but Sanji made it without dropping anything. He used his hip to push the door open and he saw Law was there. Sanji greeted him and Law just made a grunt in reply. Law was reading a book in his nest. Sanji went to the other corner and dropped all the fabrics down. He scratched his head as he realized he wasn't sure how to do it. He glanced over at Law's nest and realized he had forgotten pillows. Sanji went back to get them from the bed.
Once he had everything, he began making the nest. He put the deer pelt on the bottom and was trying to decide which fabrics to use first. No matter how many times he tried, the nest didn't seem correct. Law must have taken pity on him because the other omega came over and lightly shoved him out of the way. Law gathered everything and showed Sanji the right way to do it. Sanji had caught on fast and finished making the nest on his own. When it was completed, he settled into the center and could smell Zoro's alpha scent on everything. Now he wouldn't be so lonely when Zoro has to go away. The scent was strong, and Sanji felt himself become aroused.
Sanji tried to hide it, but Law could sense it and the other omega closed his book. Law stated that he will go and get Zoro. Sanji thanked him and waited for Law to leave before he stripped down to his naked flesh. He lounged in the nest on his back, covering his lower half with a dark blanket. He wanted to surprise Zoro.
Zoro didn't wait for Law as he walked as fast as he could to the nesting room. He was eager to see the nest that Sanji made. Not only is the nest good for an omega, but it's best for the child as well. When he reached the nesting room, he could already smell Sanji's omega scent. Ever since Sanji became pregnant, his omega smell was twice as enticing. Zoro wasn't expecting to find Sanji naked in the nest, but he wasn't going to complain. He thought the nest was very well done and he was eager to lay in it with Sanji. Zoro just smirked and said nothing as he walked over to the nest and pulled the blanket from Sanji's lap.
Sanji raised his arms up toward Zoro, inviting him into an embrace. Zoro carefully got into the nest and let himself lay on Sanji. He felt Sanji's arms embrace him, running his hands up and down his back. Zoro didn't stay long in the embrace because he feared he was too heavy for Sanji. He shifted his body off of Sanji's and laid back on the pillows. Sanji then rolled over to lay on top of him. Zoro liked the scent of the nest and soon it would smell like both of them.
"You have too many clothes on," Sanji said and rolled off of Zoro so he could undress.
Once Zoro was naked, Sanji took this moment to bring their lips into a kiss. It was both tender and passionate. He wanted to give Zoro pleasure first, so he let his hand roam over Zoro's chest. He stopped to let his thumb rub over a hard nipple while he kissed Zoro's neck. Sanji could feel Zoro's cock rubbing and growing against his own. He let out a low moan and kissed his way down Zoro's chest. He used his tongue to trace the line of skin along hard, muscled abs as he went lower.
Sanji wasted no time as he reached Zoro's cock to take it in his mouth. His lips circled the top first and his tongue flicked at the little bit of pre-cum. Zoro was moaning and let his hand slide through the golden hair. Sanji liked the tenderness of Zoro's touches. For an alpha to be so strong and dangerous like Zoro, one wouldn't think he was gentle. Sanji felt a little flicker of pleasure in his lower belly when he realized that Zoro could hurt him at any time. It made him stifle his moan by taking the whole tip into his mouth. He sucked on the head first then gradually made his way down until he reached the base. Sanji could feel the tip hitting the back of his throat, so he started sucking slowly. He bobbed his head up and down, loving the taste and feel of it. He would have kept going but Zoro gently gripped his hair and pulled him away from his cock.
"I don't want to come like that," Zoro said. "I want to be inside you,"
"Which way do you want me?" Sanji asked in a sultry tone.
"I want to be careful of this," Zoro reached his hand down to Sanji's belly. "Hands and knees,"
Sanji rolled away from him and got into position. He buried his nose in one of Zoro's shirts and inhaled the scent. It wasn't as strong as Zoro's alpha musk scent, though. But it was two smells that made him more wanton than before. He felt Zoro get behind him and pushed in two fingers. Sanji arched his head back and moaned. His body had adapted to Zoro's length and girth that he barely had to be prepped for sex. Zoro's two fingers pushed and curled inside of him. Sanji was ready for him and he said to Zoro, 'I'm ready'.
Zoro used some of Sanji's slick to coat himself and guided his cock to Sanji's hole. He still took his time pressing inside, loving the feel of Sanji's muscles opening up to him. Zoro wanted to start pounding into Sanji but he remembered that he needed to have control. Sanji is in a delicate state, so he had to be careful. He waited until he felt Sanji pushing back against him. Zoro pulled out halfway and pushed inside. He kept a steady pace, making sure to hit Sanji's sweet spot with each thrust. Sanji was pushing back against him and moaning into the fabrics. Zoro sped up a little bit more, focusing on keeping the pace.
Sanji knew why Zoro was being gentle with him, but it wasn't any less pleasurable. Zoro's cock always managed to hit every spot inside him. Sanji's whole body was alive with pleasure, from the scent of his nest to the feeling of Zoro's thrusts. He pushed himself back onto Zoro's cock so they could fall into a steady rhythm rather than just lay there. Zoro's hands were gripping his hips a little tighter than usual but Sanji knew that was just Zoro holding back. He was starting to near climax as he felt the build up in his lower belly. Zoro must have sensed it too because he grabbed Sanji's hair and pulled him up from the floor of the nest. Sanji seated himself on Zoro's lap with his long legs spread wide on either side. The position forced Zoro deeper into him and he took control of the thrusting this time. He slowly bounced on Zoro's cock, moaning each time it pressed back in.
Zoro felt his climax coming along quickly, so he wrapped his arms around Sanji. He had one hand pinching Sanji's nipple and the other hand resting on his lower belly where the new life was growing. Sanji shuddered against him and came hard. Sanji tried to move but Zoro stopped him by grabbing his hips and holding him tight as he came deep inside. He came so much that some of it was trickling out around his cock. They enjoyed the moment for a few seconds, then Zoro pulled out.
Sanji missed the feel of Zoro inside of him but he was suddenly very exhausted. His inner thighs were a little sore from being stretched over Zoro's lap, but he didn't care. He flopped face first into the nest, smelling Zoro's scent as well as the aftermath essence of their love making. He felt Zoro lay on top of him and licked the mating bite. Sanji moaned softly then spun around so he was facing Zoro. He brought the alpha into a kiss, letting their tongues stroke together.
"I didn't hurt you, did I?" Zoro asked.
"Not at all," Sanji replied, kissing Zoro's nose. "I'm fine, but I'm really exhausted. Will you lay with me for a while? At least until I'm asleep?"
"Sure."
Zoro laid down in the nest and spooned with him. He let his hand rest on Sanji's belly. Sanji just smiled softly before he fell asleep.
After some months, the time came when Luffy and Zoro would have to leave for some time to attend a country wide meeting. Sanji was halfway along and didn't want Zoro to leave. Zoro told him that he had to, and that he'll be back long before the baby is born. Zoro promised this with a kiss and Sanji felt a few tears stinging the back of his eyes. They had to get moving, so Sanji stood next to Law, watching their mates leave. Sanji placed his hand on his swollen belly and looked at Law, whose stomach seemed bigger than his.
"Hey, Law?"
"What?"
"I know this whole birthing thing is going to be long and painful. How do you manage it? You have a lot of kids."
"It gets easier the more you have them," Law replied. "And you tend to forget the pain after a little while. The first time I wanted to kill Luffy. You'll think the same about Zoro. Just remember that it goes away eventually, and you get back to normal."
"I already miss Zoro," Sanji said. "I'm going to my nest."
"I'll go with you," Law said. "I need a nap, and I want to rest my lower back."
"Are you always this big?" Sanji asked as they walked back into the castle.
Law shook his head. "There might be more than one in me," he said. "That's why I'm bigger than normal."
"Wow…you think you're having twins?"
Law nodded. "I do. I'm not looking forward to pushing something out not once but twice in a row."
They got to the nesting room and each went into their nests, surrounded by their alpha scents. Sanji took one of the blankets and wrapped himself in it. It smelled like Zoro's scent all over his body and it brought him comfort. He was going to miss Zoro, though. He hoped the nest would help to keep him calm until Zoro came back. He really hoped that Zoro would return in time before the baby's birth. He needed Zoro with him.
However, he realized that he had Law here who could help get him through the birthing process. Sanji groaned and shuffled the nesting fabric so he could lay on more. There was one question he had to ask Law out of curiosity. It was no secret what his brothers did to Law. No one seems to talk about it most likely because Luffy already took care of everything and got his revenge for Law.
"Hey…you don't need to respond to me, but can I ask you something?"
"What?" Law said, flatly.
"After what happened to you-"
"I don't want to talk about it," Law said quickly and glared at him.
"Sorry," Sanji said. "Is it Luffy's or my brothers?"
"I just said I don't want to talk about it!"
Sanji could read the saddened look in Law's eyes and took that as he may be right. "It might help to talk about it," he offered.
Law was silent for a moment, then spoke. "A few days after it happened, Luffy took me again to 'cleanse' and 'reclaim' me. It's a stupid thing alphas do…but it really did help me get over it. I'm never going to be cured, I'll always have that dark memory, but I already learned how to combat it."
"You're a strong omega," Sanji said. "But…if it belongs to my brothers…what would you do?"
Law sighed. "I went into a light heat from all the alpha scents around me. I was getting too weak from the smells to fight back. I landed a few punches, but that was all before they-" he trailed off. "But it was shortly after Luffy reclaimed me that there's a chance that he…may not be the father."
"Did you tell Luffy?"
Law shook his head. "And you're not going to say anything, right?" Law gave him a hard stare.
Sanji nodded, promising he wouldn't tell. Hopefully, the baby, or babies, are Luffy's. Sanji would become an uncle if it was sired by one of his brothers. Both Luffy and Law have very dark hair, and their kids all have the same color. If the baby comes out with colored hair, that's how they'll know. If for any reason Law casts aside the baby because it belongs to one of his brothers, he would take care of it. He knows what it's like to have a parent that doesn't like to acknowledge you. Law then said he was going to sleep and to leave him alone. He also added that anything said in the nest room STAYS in the nesting room. Sanji agreed to that, and he was tired as well. He let himself fall asleep thinking of Zoro and their baby together.
Luffy and Zoro walked around the meeting hall, eating and drinking what was provided. Zoro had to stop Luffy a few times for taking so much. The first round of meetings had been boring, and he could have been with Sanji. Instead, he was here listening to a bunch of old alpha males discuss and argue.
As they were seated and eating (with Zoro drinking more than eating) he had a curious question to ask Luffy. "Hey, Luffy, can I ask you something? Swallow your food first before you talk!"
Luffy gulped down what was in his mouth. "What is it?" He shoved a piece of fruit into his mouth.
"It's about Law,"
"Hm?" Luffy had another piece of meat on a bone.
"You avenged him, which is good. But…do you think there might be some change the baby isn't yours?"
"Why wouldn't it be?"
"Well…after what happened to him."
"Oh, that," Luffy actually put the meat down. "I won't care either way," he said with a grin. "A baby is a baby! They'll be treated the same as all my children! Half of it will be Law's anyway."
Zoro smiled at that. What a typical answer from Luffy. But he wasn't sure what Sanji would think of it. Sanji would be an uncle. Despite being happy for both Luffy and Sanji, he thought about something concerning. Luffy doesn't kill, so the Vinsmokes are still alive, just badly, badly beaten (Luffy gave him all the details). What if they come to try and take away Law's baby? That would be another problem. Maybe that won't happen so long as they keep it a secret.
"Do you think we can leave early?" Zoro asked. "We've been here for five days and I'm getting bored. I need to train and be with Sanji."
"I hear ya," Luffy said. "I want to leave too. Let's just get up and go. We've said enough.
They both snuck out of the crowd with Luffy taking one more piece of huge meat. They mounted their horses and took off, heading for home. Zoro could wait to see Sanji. He knew everything was okay because of the bond they share. He hoped Sanji was taking care of himself.
Sanji took a walk in the courtyard, trying to get some exercise. The baby was taking all his strength. His back hurt whenever he started to walk and he was snippy. But he would always apologize after. Normally, he would sit on the grass and relax, but not with his bulging belly. He'd end up like a turtle on its back. There was only one stone bench and he had to rest himself for a bit. It was getting close to his time, and he couldn't wait just to get the baby out. He'll feel much better all around after it's born.
A watcher on the tower shouted that Lord Luffy was coming. Sanji quickly forgot his back pain and hurried over as fast as he could. He watched as both Zoro and Luffy came riding. Sanji felt tears in his eyes, he was so happy to see Zoro. Zoro jumped off his horse and Sanji went up to him.
"You're back!" Sanji said.
"Yeah, it was boring," Zoro replied, kissing Sanji on the cheek. "Thanks for the welcome home,"
Sanji chuckled and brought Zoro into an embrace, though it was slightly awkward with his big belly.
"I told you I would make it in time," Zoro said.
"Yeah, my time is coming soon. I'm glad you'll be here," he took Zoro's hand. "Let's go lay in the nest. I've missed you beside me."
"Wouldn't you rather be in our bed? The nest is just extra."
"I would feel better if it were the nest. I'm not quite sure why."
"Alright then."
Sanji was totally at peace in his nest with Zoro by his side, spooning him. He'd much rather have the real alpha musk than the ones in the nest. They were lying quietly, embracing the other, and just relaxing together. But their peaceful bonding moment ended when someone burst into the room. It was Luffy carrying Law. Law had a painful expression on his face. Luffy carefully laid Law down in the nest and then nuzzled behind Law's ear. Law, in labor pains, didn't want any part of Luffy near him right now, so he shoved Luffy away with his hand.
Luffy went over to Zoro. "Alphas aren't allowed in the birthing room. That's Law's orders. Omegas can stay."
Zoro nodded and got up from the nest. He turned to Sanji. "Be a comfort for Law,"
"Y-yeah. Of course!" Sanji didn't actually know what to do, so he went over and sat by Law while Zoro and Luffy left.
Sanji tried to nuzzle Law and the other omega thanked him through grit teeth. The door opened again and two middle-aged betas came in. They told Sanji they were here to help deliver the baby, and one of them was a doctor. Sanji sighed in relief and remained by Law's side. This was going to be him soon, but it wasn't what he expected. He really didn't know much. He barely gave it any thought. But Law was a tough omega and he looked to be having a hard time.
The clock ticked on and Law was becoming exhausted. They must have been there for hours. The whole time Law was in pain and Sanji was getting nervous about his own delivery. Law had a lot of kids, and he said it gets better the more you do it. But to Sanji, that didn't look like an experienced birthing. Or was this not the same? Was this pain tamer than the previous ones? Now he was getting very anxious.
Finally, the baby came out and it wasn't twins but a large baby. Sanji nearly passed out after the baby started to cry. He did look to see what color the hair is- it was not a dark color-it was red. Red like Ichjii.
"It's a baby girl," said one of the betas, handing Law the swaddled bundle stained with afterbirth. The other beta was cleaning up all the leftover afterbirth in the nest.
Sanji watched as Law's normally hard and stoic face softened when he held the baby. He looked like a whole new person. Law was writhing in pain a few moments ago. The betas left and Luffy came back in with Zoro.
"Let me see!" Luffy hurried over and nearly jumped into the nest.
Law finally noticed that the baby had red hair. "I'm sorry," Law told him.
"For what?" Luffy used his finger to stroke the baby's pink cheek.
"Her hair…"
Luffy moved the blanket a bit to see the red hair. He grinned at Law. "Eh, so what? I don't care about that!" He picked her up to scent her and then he lifted her in the air. "She's pretty! We need more girls in the family!"
"Luffy, remember when I said after EACH delivery not to hold them up in the air?" Law scolded. Luffy laughed and handed the baby back to Law, settling in the nest beside him. He nuzzled Law's neck, and this time, Law didn't push away.
"Let's give them privacy to bond," Zoro said, leading Sanji out of the room. "How was it?"
"It was…awful," Sanji said. "Law was in pain for a very long time. I mean, I know we're supposed to have pain because we're omegas, but with Law, it was like nothing I've ever seen."
Zoro pulled him into an embrace. "You'll be alright. And everyone is different."
"I hope so. I'm…a little scared."
"So was Law the first time," Zoro said. "But look at him now. I've lost count with how many kids they have."
"Yeah, that's true," Sanji said. "But I'm still worried."
"You'll get through it. It's going to be tough, but I know you can handle it."
Sanji hoped that Zoro was right.
Three days have passed since the birth of Luffy and Law's baby girl and Sanji had calmed down somewhat. He was in the garden again, walking around to stretch his legs. But his back was killing him. He's had some pain when he woke up and it hasn't really passed. It just lingered, and it was getting more aggressive by the minute. Sanji decided to go back inside to rest in his nest.
Sanji snuggled into the nest, his stomach still feeling painful. He wanted Zoro here, but his mate was training outside. The pain grew even stronger and it was almost intolerable. Then, his eyes widened as he realized what was happening. The baby was coming! He got up from the nest but had to hunch over for a wave of pain to pass. He went to the door and opened it, hoping to find someone but there was no one there. Cursing under his breath, Sanji left the room in search of someone who can get Zoro and Law. He wanted Law with him for this.
He finally found a servant and he told them to get Zoro and Law. The servant nodded and quickly ran off. Sanji wobbled back to the nesting room and went into his nest. He took a deep inhale of breath with his face buried in Zoro's clothes. All he could do was lie here and wait for help. The pain in his stomach was becoming unbearable. It seemed like forever when both Zoro and Law came in.
"Zoro!" Sanji called to him and Zoro pushed past Law to kneel in the nest and let Sanji embrace him. "I'm a little scared…"
"It'll be alright," Zoro assured him. He could sense that Sanji was in extreme pain but was handling it well.
"Alphas out," Law said to Zoro.
"No! I want him to stay!"
"I made a rule," Law said. "You follow my rules while you're here. He'll come back in when this is over."
Sanji held on to Zoro's hand for as long as he could until he was out of range. Now, he was alone with Law and writhing in pain.
"You're just beginning," Law said, stroking Sanji's back. "You're going to be like this for awhile,"
"How did you…do this…so many times!" Sanji managed to ask.
"Trust me, your brain makes you forget the intensity. Just do your best to bear it."
Sanji was in so much pain he wished he could just walk away from it. His stomach felt like it was tightening with each contraction. The pain just wouldn't let up, and he lost all tracks of time. He felt something pushing out of him.
"That's the head," Law told him. "Just keep pushing,"
"It's…hard!" Sanji forced out. "He's never touching me again!" He said through grit teeth.
"That's what I say to Luffy each time,"
The pain just wouldn't stop and Sanji was exhausted from so much pushing. He thought he was going to die here. Law told him to do one more big push, and Sanji managed to give the best one. Suddenly, the pain was gone and his body was empty. Shocked, he looked at Law who was holding a squirming, crying baby. Law balanced it on one arm as he cut the baby from the cord.
"You have a healthy boy," Law said. "There's no slit, so it's an alpha."
Sanji felt something else coming out of him but he didn't pay it any mind when Law handed him the baby wrapped in one of Zoro's shirts. Law cleaned up the afterbirth but no one noticed. Sanji looked down at the small bundle in his arms and smiled. An alpha son…his father would be proud. Law had called Zoro inside and he rushed to Sanji's side.
"Let me see," said Zoro.
Sanji held the baby out to him and Zoro backed away. "I don't think I can handle a baby that small…"
"Why not?" Sanji asked.
"I'm just…big. What if I drop him?"
"Sit down in the nest and hold him." Sanji offered and Zoro did so. Sanji passed the baby over to Zoro and he held it delicately. "See?"
Zoro just nodded as he stared down at his son with his hair color of green. He never thought of himself as a father until he held their baby. Everything was going to change now. He nuzzled the baby and scented it, establishing a bond.
"We're parents," Zoro said.
"We are, and I won't be anything like my father! This child will never know sadness and suffer like I suffered!"
"He will know only happiness," Zoro said and pulled Sanji against him. "We have our own little family."
"We do. I'm glad I found you."
"Well, I found you and kidnapped you so…"
"That's in the past," Sanji rubbed the boy's little chin. "We can start anew,"
Sanji laid down in the nest and motioned for Zoro to do the same. Zoro put the baby between them on top of some pillows. The baby had been squirming but he settled down and appeared to be sleeping. Sanji was exhausted, so he fell asleep. Zoro stayed up for a while to watch over them like an alpha should. Eventually, he got tired and he laid down with them, and he was asleep instantly.
Some months later…
Sanji lay in the long grass on a blanket with a picnic lunch. Beside him on the blanket was their son, who was sleeping. Sanji watched the clouds going by and heard someone walking towards him.
"Are you done training?" Sanji asked Zoro.
"For today, yeah," Zoro said, taking off his swords and placing them beside him on the blanket. He gently rubbed the baby's back. "How's he been?"
"He's been fine," Sanji said and went back to the clouds. There was a gentle breeze that blew the long grass around. "I love this place."
"Me too." Zoro laid down and looked up at the sky.
They both saw a cloud that looked like a heart, and they held hands.
