Today, after another wonderful class with Max, I took the rest of the day off to handle some of the paperwork that I was required to do as one of the two kings of Kuoh Town. All of it was important and also not something that I could pass off to my peerage. When school let out for the day, my peerage all came to my office to get their assignments as usual. However Kiyome-chan came as well. I didn't expect her to want to come the day after I offered, and I expected her to give me a heads up as well.

"I want to know why they became devils." A simple, yet very complicated request.

I eyed my peerage to see how they reacted. Tsubaki grimaced at the memory, but the others were all open to the idea.

Hanakai went first, explaining how she knew me for a few years due to her father working with my father. When she learned I was a devil she confronted me about it. I had explained everything to her and she requested for me to reincarnate her on the spot. I didn't, of course, but we went and tried to convince Hanakai's father to allow me to take her in. After a couple weeks of Momo bothering him, he gave in, and Momo joined my peerage.

Nimura went next, explaining how she happened to catch us teleporting out of the student council and confronting us about it. After I explained that we were devils and exactly what that entailed, she asked to join us.

The next one to speak up was Kusaka. She explained that she learned of the supernatural from her grandmother, who was a witch, and knew who I was the moment she met me. She had heard about the heiress of the Sitri clan, me, and figured out that I was using a fake name. (Which proves that the fake name doesn't help) She went to her grandmother and asked her about me. After hearing that I was one of the two rulers of Kuoh, she arranged a formal meeting between us. Her grandmother introduced herself to me as a witch and Kusaka as a magician, offering their help in case of emergencies. Kusaka explained that the interaction confused her, so after they left the meeting she talked to her grandmother about me. The next day I had invited Kusaka to join the student council, not my peerage, as a way for us to get to know each other. After a couple weeks her grandmother scheduled another meeting where Kusaka requested to join my peerage.

Meguri spoke up a couple of seconds after Kusaka was finished, "I was cursed from birth."

That simple, horrible statement instantly got Kiyome-chan's attention.

Meguri explained how her parents were demon hunters, but when she was cursed by a yokai, her parents tried every method they could think of to remove the curse before finally turning to the devils. They used a summoning contract and I appeared before them. They begged me to heal her, but no matter what I tried, I was unable to succeed. I had one last possible method that I knew would work, but I was hesitant to use it. She explained how I pulled her parents aside and spoke with them quietly. She was only able to hear the conclusion that her father came to.

"For our daughter, we'll do anything." She described the resolved look on his face as he hugged his wife.

She told Kiyome about how I pulled out a small figure that resembled a horse and spoke to them for another moment before her parents nodded and I walked over to where Meguri was laying down and pushed the knight piece into her chest.

The next thing she knew she was feeling fine and her parents were sitting next to her, I was standing out of the way watching their reunion. A week later they moved to Kuoh Town after they were exiled from their former home and she joined the student council where I explained what happened to her,

Tsubasa went next, explaining how she could always see the supernatural and chose to go and fight any of them who tried to cause issues for others, but eventually she was unable to get stronger and continue defeating them, so she approached me and asked me to reincarnate her so she could get stronger.

When Tsubasa finished everyone turned to Shinra and waited for her to explain why she chose to become a devil. After a few seconds she let out a sigh and began.

"I used to have a strange power and was isolated from my family for it. Eventually, I met Sona and she helped me learn to control my powers. I asked her to turn me into a devil after my family exiled me for consorting with devils."

The room went silent for a minute, before Kiyome excused herself and I gave my peerage their tasks. It's been a long day.
